‘Climate Change’ Could Shrink Fish In The Future Or Something

Of course, since the Cult of Climastrology is making this prognostication, fish will most likely grow by 30% and you’ll have a massive flounder nibbling on your toes at the beach

Climate change could shrink fish size by 30 per cent: Study

Fish are expected to shrink in size by 20 to 30 per cent if ocean temperatures continue to climb due to climate change, a study has warned.

The study by researchers at the University of British Columbia in Canada provides a deeper explanation of why fish are expected to decline in size.

“Fish, as cold-blooded animals, cannot regulate their own body temperatures. When their waters get warmer, their metabolism accelerates and they need more oxygen to sustain their body functions,” said William Cheung, associate professor at the Institute for the Ocean and Fisheries.

“There is a point where the gills cannot supply enough oxygen for a larger body, so the fish just stops growing larger,” said Cheung.

One has to wonder, if fish can’t get as big when the seas get warmer, then how were fish so much bigger during the times when the seas were much, much warmer? Why do fish get pretty big in the warm waters of the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and so forth? Eh, doesn’t matter something may possibly might could we feel happen in the future.

ESPN Removes Announcer Named Robert Lee From Football Game To Avoid Offending

I caught this one yesterday via Katie Pavlich, who retweeted this

Well, that makes sense, right? In the wake of violence between the KK/neo-Nazis and Antifa/BLM in Charlottesville (started primarily by the Lefties), we wouldn’t want someone whose name is similar to Robert E Lee to broadcast a football game, right? From the link

In a story that seems made for The Onion, but is actually true, according to multiple Outkick fans inside ESPN MSESPN decided to pull an Asian college football announcer named Robert Lee off the William and Mary at University of Virginia college football game because they were concerned that having an ASIAN FOOTBALL ANNOUNCER NAMED ROBERT LEE would be offensive to some viewers.

Did I mention that Robert Lee is Asian?

Is this even real life anymore? This might even be worse than MSESPN apologizing for the fantasy football slave draft a couple of weeks ago.

To avoid offending left wing idiots Robert Lee, the Asian college football announcer, not the Confederate General who died in 1870 and shares a name with him, was switched to the Youngstown State at Pittsburgh game and Dave Weekley will now call the William and Mary at University of Virginia game.

Did you catch that Mr. Lee is Asian? That’s right. Asian. This has moved from Political Correctness to Special Snowflake Syndrome. ESPN responded

“We collectively made the decision with Robert to switch games as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name,” Derek Volner, an ESPN spokesman, told The Washington Post in an emailed statement.

“In that moment it felt right to all parties. It’s a shame that this is even a topic of conversation and we regret that who calls play by play for a football game has become an issue,” he said.

It’s just so stupid

Predictable: NY Times Figures Out Way To Slur Trump On Afghanistan Plan

Seriously, who would have thought that the NY Times Editorial Board would come out and slam Mr. Trump?

Mr. Trump on Afghanistan: More of the Same; No End in Sight

If there is a compelling case to be made for deepening the United States military involvement in Afghanistan, where the 16-year-old war has already lasted longer than any other in American history, President Trump did not make it in his speech Monday night.

Killing Islamic terrorists seems a pretty good reason.

Rather than the comprehensive strategy that is called for, his plan amounted to a jumble of ideas that lacked detail and coherence and were often contradictory. Having spent years criticizing America’s involvement in Afghanistan, he now appears inclined toward an open-ended commitment, but with no real ways to measure success and no hint of a timetable for withdrawal.

These are ideas that came from the military leadership, who want to simply kill jihadis.

New troops will be required, he suggested, but he did not say how many (there are 8,400 there now). Nor did he explain, much less guarantee, how a few thousand more troops could succeed when the more than 100,000 troops deployed during the Obama administration did not.

Wait, time out. Is the NYTEB saying that Obama’s plans were utter failures? The Times was thrilled by Obama’s surges. Remember this?

How’d that work out? Well, there was the Times article about Obama reversing himself. And then keeping more troops there than planned. But, regardless of how well or not well Obama’s strategy worked over 8 years of being president, Trump’s there now, so everything will be blamed on Trump. Blaming predecessors only applies when the chief executive is a Democrat.

With this speech, Mr. Trump has taken ownership of the war, which until now he has essentially fobbed off on the Pentagon….

Trump was left with a mess, started, yes, under President Bush, then through President Obama (which is not fully fair to assign blame, because the nation is a mess and will probably always be a mess, as long as there are any Muslim extremists, and there are Muslim extremists in Pakistan), but, hey, he now owns it or something.

…Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, told two months ago by Mr. Trump that he could deploy another roughly 4,000 troops to Afghanistan, sensibly declined to do that, at least until the president announced his strategy. Now Mr. Trump has set forth a plan, although it’s hard to dignify as strategy an address in which he said, “We will not talk about numbers of troops or our plans for further military activities.” He seems not to understand that presidents owe it to voters to be transparent.

And the Times seems not to understand that you don’t give intelligence to the enemy. They weren’t particularly bothered by Obama not announcing the troops blowing stuff up in Libya, nor in the hellholes of Africa and the Middle East taking out Islamic jihadis (give Obama props for allowing units to do this).

Obviously, the NYTEB keeps whining and whining, because they’re too invested in TDS to give Trump props for anything. If he came out today and announced that he was going to reinstated DACA and expand it, or that he’d bring in 500,000 refugees, or push a plan for amnesty for all illegals, the left, including the NYTEB, would find ways to complain. That’s TDS.

Bummer: Young Conservationists Realize Their Degrees Are Worthless

One of the problems we’ve seen for years now is that kids are going to college and majoring in disciplines that aren’t worth the paper they’re printing on, much less the tens of thousands of dollars of student debt accrued. At least with the old basket weaving degree joke, making baskets can result in money made. You can work to make awesome baskets, start your own company, and sell them for a profit. Not so much with things like this

All work, no pay: the plight of young conservationists
Qualified graduates are struggling to find paid jobs and many give up to pursue a different career. The result is a net loss for conservation work, reports Mongabay

Nika Levikov swore she would never work as a waitress again. But, today — with a master’s degree in conservation science from Imperial College London — she’s taking orders, delivering drinks, and cleaning tables to support herself.

After two years of looking for paid work as a conservationist around Europe and four months doing unpaid work in East Africa, Levikov moved to the island of Malta to work at Greenhouse Malta. Levikov, who owes over $100,000 (£77,644) in student loans, described her work at the small environment NGO as “casual” and “freelancing” — some hours are paid, others are volunteer — while the group looks to secure more funding.

“The reality many of us face is that we will have to babysit, clean toilets, and serve drinks as we try to gain the experience we need in conservation to finally get that dream job,” said Levikov, a former intern at Mongabay, who just turned 30.

“I’m not blaming anyone for my current situation in which I am utterly broke and still crossing my fingers that in the near future my career will finally take off,” she told Mongabay. “Indeed I was wrong in thinking that all my hard, unpaid work would lead to something or that having a degree from a … highly-respected university would give me a leg-up.”

Levikov is not alone.

Over a dozen conservationists related a depressingly similar story: serial unpaid internships, crippling student debt, short-term work for little or no pay, dismissive attitudes, and entry-level job requirements that include expectations of considerable field time and experience.

What they’ve learned is that just because they want something doesn’t mean they’ll get it. The Real World doesn’t work like that. And, the aforementioned notion that some degrees aren’t worth squat.

Interestingly, one of the things we learn from the article is that all these conservation groups, which get a lot of donations and money from government, are happy to pay the bigwigs lots of money, but love paying the worker bees low wages to no wages. Interesting.

LA Streets Getting Coated With Coolseal Means Hotcoldwetdry Is Real Or Something

Shockingly, streets get hot in the summer. The different types of paving tend to soak up the heat from the sun. And, now

Los Angeles Streets are Getting Coated with Coolseal to Fight Climate Change, Still Wondering if Global Warming is Real?

Los Angeles is currently becoming an exhibit of global warming as the temperatures continue to rise. In an effort to contain the effects of climate change, Los Angeles streets are being coated with a material that was initially known for hiding planes from spy satellites. Coolseal is being used on the streets of LA so that its sun rays reflecting property helps to reduce the temperatures and makes the city cool again. Los Angeles has been melting with temperatures reaching as high as 104-degree Fahrenheit, and this coating aims at changing the situation.

Coolseal is a grey coloured coating that reflects sun rays and the city officials had tested this coolant in 2015. The first time Coolseal was tested was in a parking lot San Fernando Valley, one of the hottest parts of town. The average summer temperatures in LA has risen from the upper 80s to more than 100-degree Fahrenheit multiple times, making global warming a crucial issue that needs to be battled.

Talk about bad writing. Almost as bad as the climate models.

The assistant director of the Bureau of Street Services, Greg Spotts spoke about the effects of Coolseal and said, “We found that on average the area covered in CoolSeal is 10 degrees cooler than black asphalt on the same parking lot.We thought it was really interesting. It’s almost like treated asphalt warms at a lower rate.” this move may make Los Angeles the first US city to test cool pavements as a way of fighting global warming.

In a time where climate change and global warming are still being termed as a ‘myth’, and its existence is still in the grey area, these reports and LA’s weather situation should be a clear example to prove that climate change is real. This coolant can actually help combat global warming in an efficient manner.

Wait, let’s jump back a second. Note that the use of CoolSeal can decrease the the temperature by 10 degrees when applied to black asphalt.

New seal on L.A. roads aims to cut heat-island effect

Climate change conjures up distant images of rising seas and cracking ice sheets, but in cities nationwide, the effects of global warming are apparent as soon as you step outside.

Known as the “urban heat island effect,” it refers to the pockets of intense heat captured by the concrete, asphalt, dark roofs and dearth of foliage that define many American cityscapes.

Los Angeles — surrounded by desert and encased in thousands of miles of asphalt — is the poster child of the heat-island effect, experts say, which explains why city officials are exploring innovative ways to combat record-breaking, rising temperatures. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, D, wants to reduce the city’s average temperature by three degrees over the next 20 years, according to the Los Angeles Times.

This article is mixing metaphors, but, at the end, we understand that, while the average global temperature has gone up a little bit, which tends to happen during Holocene warm periods, which have happened many times, the bigger problem is UHI. Cities tend to be warmer than the surrounding countryside. While it is anthropogenic, it is not global. It is a localized effect, but is positioned as utter doom as the hot temperatures are positioned as anthropogenic global warming.

Yes, mankind does have a slight effect on the global temperature through greenhouse gases, but, most of the rest is comprised of nature doing nature stuff, along with artificial inflated temperature readings from the urban heat island effect and land use. Los Angeles is a poster child for the UHI.

The use of CoolSeal is a good idea, btw. It’d be great to use it on most road surfaces in urbanized areas.

Canadian PM Trudeau Finally Realizes That Uncontrollable Illegal Immigration Isn’t So Great

Back in January, Justin Trudeau took a shot at Trump over immigration

That opinion is taking a hit

(CBC) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a message for asylum seekers: crossing illegally into the country doesn’t offer an advantage when it comes to obtaining refugee status in Canada.

“If I could directly speak to people seeking asylum, I’d like to remind them there’s no advantage,” Trudeau said at a news conference Sunday in Montreal.

“Our rules, our principles and our laws apply to everyone.”

Trudeau’s comments come as the government grapples with a surge in asylum seekers crossing into Quebec.

In the first two weeks of August, more than 3,800 people walked over the border into the province, compared to the 2,996 who crossed throughout all of July.

Speaking prior to Montreal’s Pride Parade, Trudeau stressed that anyone seeking refugee status will have to go through Canada’s “rigorous” screening process.

Canadian systems have been hard hit by the flow of illegal aliens coming through the U.S. and landing in Canada. On the west side it seems to be those from Mexico and Central America, and the east side Haitians.

He said the government is managing the unprecedented flow of predominantly Haitian asylum seekers and that all of them will be subjected to the usual security checks and evaluations before obtaining refugee status in Canada.

Unlike in the United States, Haitians have no special status in Canada. About half of Haitians seeking refugee status in Canada have been denied in the last couple of years.

In other words, half have been deported.

If you invited unfettered illegal immigration, you’ll get unfettered illegal immigration. And all the problems that go with it.

Majority Of Voters Support Keeping Washington, Jefferson, Other Statues

ABC, along with a few other outlets, is pimping a poll that states that only 29% approve of President Trump’s handling of Charlottesville, while 56% disapprove. Which is interesting when you have a D/R/I split of 33-22-42 split.

But, what of another poll?

Voters Strongly Defend Washington, Jefferson, Lessons of the Past

Despite calls by some politicians and the media for erasing those connected to slavery from U.S. history, it looks like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are going to be with us awhile longer. Voters strongly believe it’s better to learn from the past than erase it.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 88% of Likely U.S. Voters oppose removing the names of Washington and Jefferson from public places and taking down statues in their honor. Just seven percent (7%) favor the removal of their names from the public square because Washington and Jefferson like several of the other early presidents were slave owners. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Ninety percent (90%) oppose the closing or changing of Mount Rushmore because two of the four presidents it honors were slave owners. Only six percent (6%) believe the national historic monument in South Dakota should be changed or closed because it honors Washington and Jefferson.

Ninety-four percent (94%) of voters agree that it is better to try to learn from the wrongs of the past than to erase them. Just four percent (4%) think it is better to erase the wrongs of the past instead.

Voters tend to agree with President Trump’s defense of historical statues, and few think getting rid of Confederate monuments will lessen racial tensions in America.

Well, that’s a heck of a thing. But, the SJWs won’t care. Their job is to create strife and conflict and force other people to comply with their rigid SJW beliefs. They will create problems, throw urine, assault police officers, destroy property. They’ll attempt to blow statues up. Vandalize others. They’ll voluntarily go to a college named after Robert E. Lee, then suddenly realize that they’re appalled.

They should ask the question of likely voters: do you care about all this statue stuff? I suspect the answer would mostly be “no” followed by “SJWs need to get a life, go do some real work.”
