Another holiday, another excuse for the Cult of Climastrology to scare monger and be apoplectic, as the Sacramento Bee editorial board has a meltdown (sic)
California is burning. Maybe it’s time to ban fireworks on the Fourth of July
It has become a kind of July tradition: Counting the ways in which California’s fire season is now more dangerous.
Every summer around this time, the red flags grow redder: the dry air, the triple-digit heat, the dying trees in the wilderness, the chaparral rattling in the foothills. Every summer around this time, some fiery apocalypse erupts somewhere in the state as if to drive home the message.
And yet every summer around this time, Californians respond the same way: Surrounded by fire hazards, we set off a bunch of fireworks.
Not to dampen patriotic enthusiasm as Independence Day approaches, but isn’t it time this state brought its July 4 observances into the climate-changed 21st century?

If there was only something that could be done in a state that was traditionally rather dry, like, I don’t know, allowing dried brush to be cleared making it less of a fire hazard?
Fire risk, by the way, isn’t the only drawback. In the Central Valley, where the topography can render the air stagnant, July 4 fireworks routinely cause particle pollution to spike to four or five times the federal health standards. Emergency rooms fill with the victims of illegal fireworks explosions. Pets suffer terribly from the noise, and because fireworks are a form of hazardous waste, disposal is expensive.
It’s time to align California’s laws with the modern costs and benefits of celebrations that involve explosives. If we can’t bring ourselves to ban fireworks entirely during our now nearly year-round fire season, we should at least outlaw them during the times of year and/or weather conditions in which they’re especially hazardous.
Of course, we need some Nanny State to make everything OK.

GQ writer Jay Willis (yes, discussing this in GQ, a mag about men’s fashion, totally makes sense, you know) thinks he totally has it figured out
Opponents of @Ocasio2018 sure sound nervous https://t.co/3yYaL1Yksu
— GQ Magazine (@GQMagazine) July 2, 2018
Uh huh. It starts with this cute tag line
Why are conservative media pundits taking shots at her upbringing? Because they fear that they won’t win a substantive debate.

Or, it could be due to her being a fraud. But, you do you
It took the right-wing pundit class all of four days to decide how it planned to attack Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old Bronx native who won her New York City congressional district’s Democratic primary on the strength of some really, really good policy ideas. Their chosen approach, however, might be characterized as a novel one. You should know, says this basic-cable talking head, that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—and this is a Certified Politics Bombshell, so please make sure you’re in a place where you can audibly gasp—grew up in a house.
Willis attempts to defend that she did not grow up privileged (she did), but, are we really terrified?
Actually, they're all laughing their asses off. An open borders socialist to the left of Bernie Sanders who can't run for President until 2028 at the earliest? Dream come true for Trump.
— Muscles McSexington (@MusclesMcSexy) July 2, 2018
Tell you what: when she tries running in a congressional district that’s actually competitive, unlike the one she’s in that has not been competitive for decades, and does well or even wins, then we’ll be concerned. Right now? Not so much. Will there even be a Republican who bothers in that district, one whom she’ll debate? Refer back to the tag line of the pro-socialist article. It’s not hard to win a debate about all the stuff she wants, all given by Government.
Pretty much! pic.twitter.com/73nxk22W55

But, hey, you go and try to mainstream the lunatic Socialists, Willis.

Buena Ventura Martin Godinez and her husband refused to come to the United States in a lawful fashion, but, hey, it’s the fault of the U.S. for being heartless
It had been nearly two months since Buena Ventura Martin Godinez has seen her 7-year-old daughter after the frightened young mother was separated from her family trying to cross from Mexico into the U.S. They’ve spoken tearfully by phone, but seeing her at a Miami airport Sunday for the first time, she grabbed the child in a tight embrace, tears running down her cheeks during a reunion she feared may never happen.
“I feel very happy, now and to complete my joy I would like to have my husband released,” Martin said in Spanish as her daughter Janne clutched a stuffed dog and blue balloons and played with her younger brother at baggage claim.
Martin carried her infant son from Mexico into the U.S in May, fleeing what she said were threats from violent local gangsters demanding money in their hometown in northwestern Guatemala. Her husband followed two weeks later with the young girl.
We can’t take care of every case of someone dealing with mean people in every country. And why do they never try to stay in other countries? She and her husband could have gone to another part of Guatemala. Or applied for asylum at the U.S. embassy.
Her husband, Pedro Godinez Aguilar, was convicted of the misdemeanor offense of illegal entry into the U.S. and awaits almost certain deportation at a jail in Atlanta.
Buena should be going at the same time.
“I would advise people to find another country to seek refuge … because here the law is very tough. People don’t have a heart,” she said with tears streaming down her cheeks. “Your child is a treasure and to have them separated is very painful.”
OK, bye. If you don’t like it here, self deport. Leave. This is our country, our laws. Go to Mexico. Go to Panama. Or any number of South American cities. And make sure to tell everyone that America isn’t a dumping ground for people who want to come illegally.
Of course, there’s one little problem with the whole above scenario: they were never separated. Look at the last line of the first excerpt, which CBS tried to slip past everyone. She came with her 10 month old son and was caught. And they were never separated. The husband came with the 7 year old separately, and was separated, because who even knew if they were related? So the whole premise of the little girl being ripped from mom’s arms is a manufactured farce being pushed all over the place, like at CNN.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I have a big problem with plastic pollution. It is real. A goodly chunk may be coming from China, but that doesn’t mean we all do not contribute.
On the other hand, these enviroweenies always go overboard and interfere with private business, and so often do it while linking it to the climate change scam
(CNN) If you use a plastic straw or plastic utensils in Seattle now, get ready to pay.
A ban went into effect Sunday outlawing those particular straws and utensils at “all food service businesses, including restaurants, grocery stores, delis, coffee shops, food trucks, and institutional cafeterias.”
Violators will be subject to a $250 fine.
Businesses can opt for straws and utensils made from more environmentally friendly materials such as paper, steel and bamboo. Still, the city suggests that businesses provide those only upon request.
“It’s taking a stand on plastic pollution,” Kate Melges of environmental organization Greenpeace told CNN affiliate KIRO. “And really taking a stand on what needs to happen, a ban on all single-use plastic products.”
So, wait, you can only get regular utensils upon request at the places that would typically use plastics? How many trees will be killed to make paper straws and utensils? Did they think of that?
Liberals: "OMG, you can't detain people who are entering the country illegally!! ABOLISH ICE!"
Also, Liberals: "Cops will be giving you a $250 ticket if you use a straw."

I always find it interesting how so many Democratic Party voting males push hard for abortion on demand
Chuck Schumer: Our Rights Hang in the Balance
Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement has created the most important vacancy on the Supreme Court in our lifetimes. Whoever fills Justice Kennedy’s seat will join an evenly divided court with the ability to affect the laws of the United States and the rights of its citizens for generations. Enormously important issues hang in the balance: the right of workers to organize, the pernicious influence of dark money in politics, the right of Americans to marry who they love, the right to vote.
Perhaps the most consequential issues at stake in this Supreme Court vacancy are affordable health care and a woman’s freedom to make the most sensitive medical decisions about her body. The views of President Trump’s next court nominee on these issues could well determine whether the Senate approves or rejects them.
President Trump’s own words tell us that his nominee to the court will almost certainly vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and eviscerate affordable access to health care for millions of Americans. President-elect Donald Trump said in November of 2016 that “I’m pro-life; the judges will be pro-life.†During the campaign, he speculated that after he appointed two or three judges to the bench, Roe v. Wade “will go back to the individual states.â€
In practice, sending Roe v. Wade back to the states would claw back a constitutional freedom to abortion that all American women have had for over 40 years. There are at least 20 states poised to ban abortion immediately if the 1973 decision is overturned, and legislatures in Iowa, Mississippi and Louisiana have already passed strict anti-abortion laws that could trigger challenges to the decision.
Abortion on demand is the number one belief among Democrats. How it came about that Democrats must believe in aborting the unborn at any time with zero restrictions above anything else is incredible. Seriously, this is what Chuck and the other Dems are worried about first and foremost regarding Trump’s next SCOTUS pick: the ability of a person who got pregnant from having irresponsible, unprotected sex with a person they do not want to have a baby with at a time when they do not want to have a baby.
If you do not want a Supreme Court Justice who will overturn Roe v. Wade and undo the Affordable Care Act, tell your senators they should not vote for a candidate from Mr. Trump’s preordained list. Democrat, Republican, independent, liberal or conservative — we should all want a more representative process for choosing the next Supreme Court justice.
We have a representative process: it’s called a General Election. Trump won. He ran a better campaign. Hillary is Hillary, and did things like passing out on 9/11 and failing to campaign in needed states.

Members of the Cult of Climastrology have been blaming the Spring Creek wildfire, along with others, on ‘climate change’: talking points down in flame
Illegal immigrant arrested for starting wildfire in Colorado, police say
An illegal immigrant has been arrested on arson charges in connection with the Spring Creek wildfire in southern Colorado that has destroyed homes and forced evacuations.
“The initial cause of the fire was human caused,†the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday in announcing the arrest of Jesper Joergensen, 52.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Reuters reported that Joergensen is not a U.S. citizen and will be handed over to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement once he has faced the charges against him.
Deportation officers lodged an immigration detainer to hold Joergensen with the Costilla County Jail “following his arrest on criminal charges,†ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok told Fox News Sunday.
Joergensen is a Danish national, he said.
Of course, this will not deter CoC members from fear-mongering on anthropogenic climate change as being the cause of future doom, nor will it diminish their support for illegal aliens. They’re happy to jump into their fossil fueled vehicles to go attend rallies in support of Doing Something about ‘climate change’, usually meaning “tax Other People”, as well as illegal aliens.
Nor should we forget that so much of Colorado considers itself a sanctuary for illegal aliens.
You look at the talking points about other fires, such as the others burning in Colorado, such as Sugerloaf fire, which was started by lightning. Here’s Excitable Warmist William Anderegg in the Denver Post
Fires are white-hot signs of climate change in our backyard
Scientists have been studying fires and trying to predict fire risk for decades. The drivers of fires are complicated and there’s a lot of random chance involved in any given fire, but there are some crystal clear big-picture patterns. First, the West has been warming due to human greenhouse gas emissions coming from our cars, power plants, and other sources. Hotter temperatures mean lower snowpacks, earlier snowmelts, and drier forests – sound familiar from this year? All of these factors are associated with years with lots of big fires. We have been conducting research on the San Juan National Forest for a decade and I can tell you first-hand from walking around the crispy forest last week that the trees and fuels are drier than they have been in a long while.
Second, the West is burning a lot more than it used to and climate change is behind most of this. The number of large fires like the Burro and 416 Fires has increased four-fold since the 1970s. Previous fire suppression and past land use leading to overstocked forests is likely a part of this, but some careful research done in the past few years points to climate change as the most important driver. Scientists from the University of Idaho and Columbia University found that around half or more of the recent area burned by large western US wildfires was due to climate change.
These are all what are called “assumptions”, not scientific investigation. Notice that Anderegg fails to provide proof of these assumptions, nor proof that this is mostly/solely caused by Mankind’s carbon pollution. In fact, he mentions land use, then blows it off. Nor does he tell us that he’s given up his own use of fossil fuels, power from power plants, and other things that makes his life carbon neutral.
It’s also easier to blame the mythical ‘climate change’ rather than an illegal alien.

It’s funny how the Warmists are always finding new and exciting ways to push one of their main “solutions”, a carbon tax. Here we have Elen Van Velsor, group leader of the Greensboro chapter and North Carolina’s state coordinator for Citizens Climate Lobby, being funny
Ellen Van Velsor: This climate-change plan could work
This news is too good not to share — there is a solution to climate change. At the recent Citizens Climate International Conference, experts from the fields of public health, economics and climate science as well as from the oil, auto, food and utilities industries all called for action on climate change now. And citizen opinion supports their views. The Yale Climate Opinion Study shows that 62 percent of North Carolinians believe that global warming is happening and that more than half of the people in our state are worried.
A solution, people, a solution! It’s about Warmists giving up their own use of fossil fuels and making their lives carbon neutral….oh, wait
Regardless of whether one believes that climate change is caused by human activity, greenhouse gases put our health and economy at risk. The most effective solution is a price on carbon, which is like an insurance policy against risk. We get life insurance, not because we expect to die tomorrow but so that when we do, our assets and our loved ones will be protected. In much the same way, a well-constructed carbon policy protects not only our collective assets, our health and our economy, but it helps create a livable world for those we leave behind. There are no downsides.

Got that? Even if you do not believe the increase in GHGs is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, you should totally agree that an economy killing carbon tax that will increase your cost of living is totally awesome!
Experts from all fields agree the very best insurance we can have is a carbon-fee-and-dividend policy. (snip)
This idea is significantly different from a carbon “tax.†Taxes revert to government coffers. Instead, returning 100 percent of fees to households as a monthly dividend check not only would make rising prices for expenses like gasoline and heating fuel affordable, it would provide additional income for those at the lowest income levels and incentive for people at the highest incomes to reduce their carbon footprint.
Interesting how this again increase the power of government and makes citizens more dependent on government, eh? They’re admitting that the cost of living will skyrocket, but, does anyone actually think that government will give 100% back to the citizens? Please. Regardless, you can call it a fee and dividend policy, it’s still a tax.
Furthermore, a bipartisan carbon-fee-and-dividend policy works through the market rather than through government regulation and is equitable and pro-growth in that it puts money into the hands of those households that are most likely to spend it.
?????? It’s not a market solution of the government is mandating it.
