Obligatory OIG Report Post

I really don’t have much time today to delve deep into this whole thing, but, suffice to say, it doesn’t make James Comey, Loretta Lynch, or the FBI look very good

https://twitter.com/redsteeze/status/1007329957234782209

And reporters were basically bribing FBI employees

If the investigation was done correctly, Hillary and her people would have been put in front of a jury for multiple felonies. Have at it!

Washington Post: 8 Million Might Starve In Yemen, And It’s Probably Trump’s Fault

Now, just remember how the headline from the WP Editorial Board reads

8 million teeter on the brink of famine. America is complicit.

America is complicit

WHILE THE world was focused on the U.S.-North Korea summit, two U.S. allies in the Middle East launched a reckless and potentially catastrophic military offensive in Yemen, a country already enduring the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Troops led by the United Arab Emirates and backed by Saudi Arabian warplanes are attempting to seize the port city of Hodeida, which is held by the Houthi forces who make up one side in Yemen’s civil war. Because 70 percent of Yemen’s food and aid shipments come though the port, the United Nations and every major humanitarian agency have warned of dire consequences for the 22 million Yemenis who already depend on outside assistance, including 8 million on the brink of famine. They pleaded with the Saudis and Emiratis to hold off and allow more time for a diplomatic solution.

So, this is also about deflecting from what Trump has so far accomplished and may further accomplish with North Korea.

The attack nevertheless went ahead early Wednesday after receiving what amounted to passive assent from the Trump administration. That means the United States, which already has been supplying its two allies with intelligence, refueling and munitions, will be complicit if the result is what aid officials say it could be: starvation, epidemics and other human suffering surpassing anything the world has seen in decades.

See? Blame Trump for “passive assent”.

Though Yemen has always been a poor country, this crisis is man-made. It was triggered by the intervention of the Saudis and Emiratis in Yemen’s war three years ago. Promising quick action to drive the Houthis out of the capital, Sanaa, and other cities they had captured, the two countries carried out bombing campaigns that killed thousands of civilians but failed to recapture much of the country.

Guess who’s name doesn’t appear anywhere? And was a big supporter of the actions against Yemen? Who launched strikes himself? Wouldn’t this have been termed an “inherited problem” back in 2009 and 2010?

The Trump administration could have prevented the assault on Hodeida; instead, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo equivocated, thereby allowing it to go forward. Congress, which has long been uneasy with U.S. support for the Yemen war, must now act. All funding for U.S. support for the intervention should be halted and further arms sales put on hold until the offensive ends, humanitarian assistance flows freely and peace talks are underway.

That cited article shows that the Trump admin “had asked the Emirates to hold off on an operation until after U.N. envoy Martin Griffiths presented a new plan for jump-starting peace talks.”

It’s funny how the same WPEB forgot to criticize Obama and demand the same things of Congress.

City Of Berkeley Demands “Humane Population Controls” Due To ‘Climate Change’ (scam)

Say, will the City of Berkeley give up their own use of fossil fuels for city business? How about the council members who approved of this?

Berkeley declares ‘climate emergency’ worse than World War II, demands ‘humane’ population control

The Berkeley City Council on Tuesday night declared what it called a “climate emergency” with more global significance than World War II, and demanded an immediate effort to “humanely stabilize population” and “reverse ecological overshoot.”

The resolution, which invokes the global conflict between the Axis and Allies, charges that Americans bear an “extraordinary responsibility to solve the crises” facing the environment.

“[D]uring World War II, the Bay Area came together across race, age, class, gender and other differences in an extraordinary regional mobilization, building and repairing Liberty ships, converting car assembly plants into tank manufacturing facilities,” the resolution reads. (snip)

But according to the Berkeley City Council, another thinning of the herd might be needed.

The resolution notes that “reversing ecological overshoot and halting the sixth mass extinction requires an effort to preserve and restore half Earth’s biodiversity in interconnected wildlife corridors and to humanely stabilize population.”

Will the city council kill off a sizable chunk of the Berkeley population? They’d have to do it in a diverse manner, of course. Will it be a lottery? A race to the finish? Those who can’t burn an American flag in 5 minutes or less get whacked? If you don’t own a Che or Mao shirt you’re gassed and composted?

Also, the resolution states that “residents should avoid “consumerism” and “narcissism.”” Unsurprising that they’re against capitalism. Will the city council ban retail stores? How about supermarkets?

Democrat Pepper Sprays Himself In The Face For Gun Grabbing

Well, this idea is better than the rape whistles Dem Rep Joe Salazar recommend. But, still doesn’t put the fear of being blasted in a criminal

(Newsweek) A Democratic candidate for Colorado’s 6th congressional district on Denver’s east side recorded a video in which he blasted himself in the face with pepper spray to promote non-firearm methods of self-defense.

Levi Tillemann is a Denver businessman and the former special adviser for policy and international affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy under the Obama administration. Tillemann took on a painful and hyperbolic stunt in order to differentiate himself from Democratic opponent Jason Crow as he seeks to win the June 26 primary and ultimately try to replace the seat currently held by Republican Michael Coffman. Tillemann released a video Friday touting “non-lethal self-defense tools” for teachers in lieu of recent proposals that educators should be given firearms to defend classrooms from school shooters. (snip)

“Empower schools and teachers with nonlethal self-defense tools, like this can of pepper spray,” Tillemann says in the video as he prepares to spray himself in the face. “Pepper spray doesn’t cost much, and it can be safely stored in a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency cabinet. But it’s powerful and won’t accidentally kill a kid…Trust me, this will stop anybody in their tracks.” (snip)

Tillemann told the Independent he also supports more traditional, mainstream Democratic gun control proposals such as the assault-style weapons ban and forbidding people on no-fly lists from acquiring firearms. He said he also supports a 10-day waiting period for buying a gun and legislation that would require safe storage of household weapons. “What we’re doing now and what we’ve been doing for decades isn’t working. And, what this is is an effort to solve a problem and to an idea out there that can work and to start a conversation about using non lethal self defense methods that will save lives,” said Tillemann.

Good job, Tillemann, and, of course he supports measures which make it harder for law abiding citizens to protect themselves using their 2nd Amendment Rights.

Good strategy, Democrats. Go with it.

DNC Bans Donations From Fossil Fuels Companies Or Something

Well, OK, then (via Hot Air)

(HuffPost) The resolution ― proposed by Christine Pelosi, a party activist and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s daughter ― bars the organization from accepting contributions from corporate political action committees tied to the oil, gas and coal industries. The executive committee voted unanimously to approve the motion.

“We talk about how climate change is real and climate change is a planetary emergency, what we need to do is stop taking money from the institutions that have created this crisis,” said RL Miller, president of the super PAC Climate Hawks Vote Political Action and a co-author of the resolution.

The article doesn’t say where the meeting was held, and, really, I don’t care, because, regardless of where it was held, this yahoos took long fossil fueled trips to get there.

The DNC may consider a second resolution at a full board meeting in Chicago in August to ban contributions over $200 from individuals who work for the fossil fuel industry. Miller said the proposal ― which has not yet been submitted to the DNC ― will hopefully lead candidates to adopt similar policies.

But, they’ll be happy to take $199 from individuals. And, as John Sexton at Hot Air points out (saves me the trouble of writing something similar)

But when you think about it, this is really a pretty shallow resolution. Sure, the DNC won’t take donations of “dark oily money,” but they’ll still take the actual oil, gasoline, and natural gas they produce. And they’ll still use the electricity generated from burning those fuels to light their stadiums, to charge their iPhones, and to keep their DNC office computers running.

If the DNC really wants to show the world it cares about stopping evil corporations and climate change, why not cut themselves off from oil and gas completely. After all, what’s worse, the money donated from the industry or the money the DNC is paying to the industry which directly supports their corporate threat to civilization. What the DNC has done here is equivalent to announcing they won’t take money from the meat industry and then serve everyone a chicken dinner.

But, we know the Warmists in the Democratic Party will never give up their own use of fossil fuels. It’d be kinda difficult to campaign in a Nissan Leaf, and the optics of cruising around in a $100,000+ Tesla wouldn’t be particularly good. And how would they get to their jobs in D.C.? This is the same as all those counties and municipalities suing fossil fueled companies, but continuing to use them.

Judge Shoots Down Deerfield’s Gun Banning Law

Somebody actually read Illinois law and their Constitution

(Townhall) Zero hour was approaching for the law-abiding gun owners of Deerfield, Illinois. The village had banned the ownership of so-called assault weapons, which in reality meant AR-15 rifles and any other firearm that carried a detachable magazine capable of holding ten or more rounds. That’s how Deerfield defined a so-called assault weapon.

On June 13, the anti-gun ordinance passed by the Chicago suburb would have gone into effect. It was essentially a gun ban, and there were no exceptions. It’s either you turn them over, move, or risk facing a $250-$1,000/ day noncompliance fee. Yeah, the AR-15 and other rifles the anti-gun Left finds scary were banned, but it also included scores of handguns. Magazines holding 15 rounds are not uncommon. Luckily, a circuit court judge blocked this law 24 hours from going into effect. And yes, legal challenges were filed against this grossly unconstitutional law (via Vice News):

A judge blocked a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines in the small town of Deerfield, Illinois, less than 24 hours before it was meant to go into effect.

The decision, handed down Tuesday evening in the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in Lake County, Illinois, is a small victory for gun rights groups, who sued the Chicago suburb in April after it became the first municipality to ban assault weapons following the Parkland high school shooting. The Deerfield ordinance was passed unanimously by all six board members on April 2.

Gun groups, including the National Rifle Association of Illinois, requested a temporary restraining order against the ban while the lawsuit proceeded.

Now, this is, obviously, only in effect to the end of the litigation, but it’s a big step forward to make sure that the town is not banning/confiscating/fining law abiding citizens for possession of legally purchased property.

One of the main reasons that the judge implemented the block on the law was because Illinois law states that “the regulation of the possession or ownership of assault weapons are exclusive powers and functions of this state.” So, once the lawsuit is actually litigated, Deerfield will lose.

But, the gun grabbers, who say they aren’t trying to take away your guns, will continue attempting to take away your guns.

Washington Post: ZOMG, Trump Didn’t Come Home With A Deal!

OK, OK, it’s actually not that bad, but, you just knew that the Credentialed Leftist media (and some #NeverTrumpers) would be losing their minds and attempting to put what was essentially a meet and greet in the worst possible light. Some are just bat guano insane, such as Excitable Kathleen Parker’s (since I’m at the WP), others attempt to put their Trump Derangement Syndrome in reasonable terms

No more concessions
America needs tangible commitments from North Korea. So far, Trump hasn’t gotten them.

THE SINGAPORE SUMMIT was, without question, a triumph for Kim Jong Un and his North Korean regime. A dictator who has ordered the murder of his own family members, and who oversees a gulag comparable to those of Hitler and Stalin, was able to parade on the global stage as a legitimate statesman, praised by the president of the United States as “very talented” and worthy of trust. President Trump offered Mr. Kim a major concession, the suspension of U.S. military exercises with South Korea, and spoke of his wish to withdraw U.S. troops from the country. Mr. Kim, meanwhile, did not commit to the “complete, verifiable and irreversible” denuclearization the United States has demanded — nor to any other change in his regime’s criminal behavior.

The two leaders agreed to begin a diplomatic process to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” That is certainly preferable to the slide toward war that appeared to be underway last year, and it can be hoped that it will eventually lead to steps by North Korea to dismantle its arsenal. But Mr. Trump has placed a large bet on a cruel and unpredictable ruler whose motives and aims are far from clear — and who has shown no sign of altering North Korea’s commitment to nuclear weapons or its deceptive negotiating tactics.

Funny how we didn’t hear the same things regarding Obama attempting to, well, give the farm away to the Islamic extremists who run the Islamic Republic of Iran. But, such is the talking point of the Trump haters, who apparently would rather see the negatives in everything Trump.

But, this is the age of Trump. Things are done different. When Trump was saying that he could take the measure of Kim in a minute, that’s what he meant. To put it in terms of the business world, something which the politicians and those who follow them, like the WP Editorial Board, do not understand, you have two CEO’s of giant companies doing a meet and greet to see if they can do business. Looking each other in the eye. Having a frank conversation between personal stories and polite conversation. Then they go their separate ways and let their underlings handle the details.

The diplomatic process that will now begin ought to be aimed at delivering tangible North Korean commitments and meaningful actions. The United States should be seeking a full declaration of the regime’s arsenal and nuclear facilities, as a start; without it, showy demolitions of test sites are meaningless. And Mr. Trump should refrain from offering Mr. Kim any further unilateral concessions.

Trump gave NK a few concessions, all of which can be cancelled in a heartbeat. Trump is thinking about the bigger picture: making North Korea much less of a threat to the world, much less South Korea. Could NK be playing games? Of course. But, you have to determine whether to play that game. I’ll give Obama credit for refusing to play the normal game that previous presidents had engaged in, in which they gave NK stuff when NK became aggressive and verbose. Unfortunately, that led to the missile launches and nuclear weapons. But, that would have happened anyhow.

Now, we have Trump playing the game in his own way. People should be hoping it succeeds. What if NK can have their nuclear weapons capabilities removed, which leads to further weapons removals? What if the country can be made more open? What if it comes that South Korea and Japan no longer have to worry about attacks from NK? It has to start somewhere, just like with Nixon going to China. But, it sure appears that the Democrats, the Credentialed Media, and NeverTrumpers want this all to fail.
