Surprise: Warmist Drags ‘Climate Change’ Into Tree Of Life Shooting

You just had to know that some member of the Cult of Climastrology would do this, in this case, Eve Andrews at Grist

Tree of Life and our deadly climate of change

As the rest of the country tried to figure out why Robert Bowers had targeted Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue in the worst anti-Semitic massacre on American soil, news reports tied the shooting to a partnership between HIAS, the Jewish refugee-resettling organization, and Dor Hadash, one of the congregations that meet at the temple.

Dor Hadash was the congregation I grew up in, a bit of a raggedy and itinerant troupe of Reconstructionists (basically progressive Jews). In my 29 years of life, our little temple has wandered across the eastern Pittsburgh neighborhood of Squirrel Hill from the Hebrew Institute to St. Philomena’s Church (sorry, Jesus, we had to take the cross down) to Tree of Life’s giant, modern synagogue. I spent seven years in the temple’s school Dor L’Dor — a similarly scruffy affair that shifted between the living rooms belonging to its students’ families — where we learned how to read inky characters from right to left and about tzedakah. (snip)

These days, environmental stewardship is actually far less planting trees in Israel and more finding new homes for people who have been forced to leave theirs due to changing climate and natural disasters — like the cruelly maligned “migrant caravan” or victims of the Syrian crisis, or any of the Pacific Islanders who have seen their shores subsumed. The social action committee of Dor Hadash simply chose to address the human consequence of altered ecosystems. (snip)

Our new world under climate change is terrifying in many ways. But we cannot go back in time, and it’s useless to try. The best way to survive is to determine how to flourish in the new world — and Jews have been surviving for millennia, so we’ve developed some pretty good strategies.

I am mourning. I am praying every day for the healing of my mother and my family and the families of my temple and my home and my Earth. I will not waste one more thought on Robert Bowers. He is a relic of an expired world that we have no time for.

This is shameless. Does that even need to be said? Ms. Andrews is using the horrific shooting to promote her pet cult.

NY Times: The Migrant Mob Is No Threat And We Have Laws To Deal With This Or Something

The NY Times Editorial Board, featuring confirmed racist Sarah Jeong, has finally chimed in on the mob of Central Americans making their way to America in an attempt to force their way in. Thousands have taken Mexico up on their asylum offer. Thousands more haven’t

Common Sense on the Caravan
A group of desperate migrants walking toward the Texas border is not a threat. We have laws to protect us — and them.

The caravan of people slowly making their way on blistered feet (riding in buses and trucks paid for by someone) and thin hopes toward America’s southern border sometimes seems like an election gift to President Trump, giving him fresh meat to throw to his base on the eve of fateful midterm elections.

The Central Americans, estimated at about 3,500 people, many of them women and children (but mostly young men, just like with all the “refugees” who invaded Europe), have morphed in the president’s immigrant-bashing demagogy into an “onslaught of illegal aliens” concealing “criminals and unknown Middle Easterners,” all enabled by Democrats and, Mr. Trump “wouldn’t be surprised,” by George Soros, a favorite villain of far-right conspiracy-mongers. (snip)

Most of Mr. Trump’s description of the migrants is untrue or unwarranted. But none of it is surprising. Demonizing immigrants is his go-to move, from his “big, beautiful wall” to his call to end birthright citizenship. Not to mention the race-baiting campaign ad he tweetedfeaturing a Mexican immigrant who was convicted of killing two police officers. (um, the illegal did kill two police officers, and sanctuary jurisdictions, as run by Democrats, refused to do anything about him) (snip)

The right way to deal with the caravan crisis is to make clear that it is no crisis. The marchers pose no threat. The United States has clear laws governing refugees and well-funded agencies to enforce those laws, and it’s an embarrassing waste of money to send troops to the border. In fact, illegal border crossings have significantly declined in recent years. The country must and will continue to enforce the laws that control its borders, as Mr. Obama himself did as president during an earlier, actual surge of Central American migrants, when he took the difficult step of dispatching National Guard troops to the border and detaining many mothers and children.

And that’s where it breaks down. Yes, we do have laws. But, they have to be enforced. And when thousands just show up at the border with claims of asylum, it’s a long, long process to go through all those claims, and there aren’t enough judges. What do you do with the people? If you detain them, Democrats complain and file lawsuits. If you let them go, only a small percentage show up for their hearings. The rest disappear into America. When those who disappear are caught, Democrats will work to protect them, especially if they have been here for a few years, and more if they have children. If they are caught in a sanctuary jurisdiction for some other crime, the authorities will let them go.

Right at this moment, there is an illegal alien in Portland, Oregon who is now accused of killing his wife. ICE wanted him held for deportation, but the sheriff’s officer refused to hold him.

We don’t really know who these people are. If they get here, the taxpayers will have to foot the bill for their food, shelter, healthcare, clothing, and so forth. And will have to bear the burden of the cost when they do not return for their court dates. Money that could be used for Americans.

People seeking to partake of the American dream have always been central to America’s identity and strength. How the country treats them goes straight to its core values. The Democrats cannot sit this one out, especially when the Republican leader is so blind to the true sources of America’s greatness.

These same people are denigrating America and carrying the flags of their own countries, as well as attempting to force their way in. That’s not the case of identifying with living the American dream, that’s the case of being foreign invaders.

Last Jobs Report Prior To Midterms Is Spectacular

So many are saying that this election is a referendum on Donald Trump. If that’s the case, then he’s doing an excellent job

Of course, Democrats will say this is still part of Obama’s recovery, that his policies suddenly started working. Even after 8 years of malaise. The worst post-recession recovery ever. And here we have Chuck Schumer trying to poo-poo the excellent report (via Twitchy)

Governments Will Have To “Nudge” People To Eat Less Meat Or We’re All Doomed

This comes from people who refuse to tell us that they have mostly given up their own eating of meat

Save the Climate, Eat Less Red Meat

The way we eat is going to have to change — that is, if we are to preserve a livable climate on Earth. A new international study makes this clear. Over the next three decades, the food system’s impact on the environment stands to at least double if humanity carries on eating the way it does now. The negative effects include pollution and species loss, but the greatest threat by far is posed by greenhouse-gas emissions from growing, processing, packaging and transporting food.

More than two-thirds of those food-related emissions come from meat production, according to the 23 researchers involved in the study — led by Marco Springmann of Oxford University (and including Jessica Fanzo). Hence, their critical recommendation: Consumers, especially those living in certain high-income countries where meat is a significant part of the daily diet, are going to have cut back and adopt a more plant-based “flexitarian” diet. (snip)

Governments, of course, will have to help nudge dietary change and encourage sustainable food production, even as they continue to support economic growth and public health. At a minimum, they’ll need to give farmers incentives to adopt sustainable practices, and regulate the use of land and fresh water required for agriculture.

For significant change to happen in any country, the food and beverage industry will need to be persuaded to revise its offerings to deliver healthy choices within environmental limits. By diversifying the foods it produces, it could help steer consumers in affluent countries toward a more plant-based diet, and help people in low-income countries achieve balanced diets in line with their national dietary guidelines — that is, a healthful mix of fruits and vegetables with enough meat and dairy for adequate protein.

See, but “nudge” and “help” they mean implement all sorts of laws, rules, and regulations that force compliance. Opinion writers Jessica Fanzo and Shreya Das forget to tell us how they’ve gone to a “flexitarian” diet, and are pushing for Bloomberg News to dissallow meat to enter the offices. Linked to this is PETA, which got a bit ahead of themselves

Can’t wait to see what’s on the menu at the upcoming UN IPCC COP24 climate change meeting, where over 10,000 people will head to Poland using fossil fuels, and will want meat on the menu. Will the UN make sure that only 10% of the food offered is meat? Yeah. Right. Good luck with that.

Democrats Get Naked To Get People Out To Vote

Hope you haven’t eaten

Yikers

(Breitbart) Several Democrat women stripped to their skivvies for a photo shoot that is part of a campaign to urge people to vote against Republicans this election season.

Ten women decided to pose nude with paper ballots covering their private areas in a Vermont studio on October 28 for a photo shoot called “Grab Them by the Ballot,” in the hopes they could convince people to cast their ballots for Democrats instead of Republicans this November.

Dawn Robertson, 48, a Harvard Law School graduate and founder of a recruitment company, told the Daily Mail she organized the photo shoot because of the rise of the #MeToo movement and hoped to push back on what she says is the Republican Party’s attack on women and transgender rights.

“What the Republicans are doing to transgender rights, the way they are attacking women’s reproductive rights and the collective trauma means that women are really coming to the forefront now,” she said.

This is what you get in Liberal World. Of course, in reality, this kind of weapons grade stupidity (and lots of Twinkies, apparently) does nothing to get people to vote, it’s just a “look at me” stunt.

But the campaign went viral in an unexpected way when several women flooded the Grab Them by the Ballot Facebook page with negative reviews on Thursday, with many calling Robertson’s campaign “cringeworthy.”

“This is so cringeworthy. I’m disappointed and disgusted by these women who are not only rude and mean if you don’t conform to their beliefs but also get mad at you just by asking questions. This campaign is a joke,” one woman wrote, giving a one-star review to the page.

“If I could give zero stars I would. Honestly, being a bully and looking down on others just because they don’t share the same political views as you, is what is ruining this country,” a third woman remarked, adding that the “morally disgusting and hypocritical” campaign does not “match the actual definition of feminism.”

Nothing says “respect me as a woman for my mind and abilities” like taking your clothes off and trying to flaunt your body.

This might actually suppress the poles wp-monalisa icon

Hit a gym. Get some exercise. Lay off the cupcakes.

More: Political Clown Parade adds her brand of fun to the photo, and, besides wondering if this isn’t voter intimidation, notes “This is nuttier than rat crap in a pistachio factory.”

Central American Caravan Members Sue Over Violations Of Their Constitutional Rigths

You can’t even call them illegal aliens or even immigrants at this point, since they haven’t made it the the U.S. border. Yet, they’re making a wackadoodle claim, which you can bet Democrats and #NeverTrumpers are like “yeah, exactly, sue!”

Migrants traveling to US sue Trump, government; claim violation of constitutional rights

A dozen migrants traveling by foot from Honduras to the U.S. to seek asylum filed a class-action lawsuit Thursday against President Trump, the Department of Homeland Security and others, claiming a violation of their due process under the Fifth Amendment.

The Fifth Amendment states that, “no person… shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

A recent PBS report cited former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who ruled in 1993 case that “it is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in a deportation proceeding.”

Twelve Honduran nationals, including six children, are listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The suit, which was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., said it is widely known that Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are “undergoing a well-documented human rights crisis.”

The lawsuit also claims that the plaintiffs’ right to the Administrative Procedures Act and the Declaratory Judgement Act were being infringed upon.

The lawsuit points to Trump’s claim that he will prevent the caravan from entering the U.S. It claims that the president cannot stop asylum-seekers by employing the military — when they have a fair claim. The suit criticized the president’s attempt at stoking “fear and hysteria,” by claiming that criminals and gang members have joined the caravan.

They also have an issue with Trump’s claim that he will build tent cities to house them, which tells you right there that they plan on arriving at the U.S. border, getting caught, claiming asylum, then disappearing after being released.

According to law, they have to actually be at the border before they can be denied asylum (which would also include showing up at a U.S. embassy. They aren’t at either. Further, the Constitution makes it clear that the U.S. government is tasked with stopping all foreign invasion. This is an invasion.

It is interesting, though, that these members of the caravan mob chose the 5th Amendment: how many of them do not want to say that they are criminals, as well as having already be deported at least once? And it is about criminal proceedings. An asylum claim is not a criminal matter. Are they claiming they are all criminals? Further, this is a forward looking suit, one based on nothing actually haven happened, because they aren’t here yet. They have no legal right to our country, and, get this, it costs lots of money to file this type of suit. Where’s it coming from when we’re told these are just poor people? And by refusing Mexico’s claim of asylum, they really have blown their shot.

Wisconsin Teens Are Totally Taking Action On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Yes, they are. And by action, they mean to force their Beliefs on you, because that’s what their teachers are indoctrinating their mushy little heads with

Wisconsin Teens Take Action On Climate Change As Midterm Elections Approach

Issues like taxes and education have been dominating political ads and campaigns. But climate change is on many people’s minds, too, especially with a recent report that says climate change will soon have dire consequences if humans fail to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions. And a dozen teens in the Milwaukee area are stepping up to push for climate change action.

They’re part of a fellowship program created by the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), which is designed to equip young people to become climate leaders.

Its curriculum teaches teens about climate science and how to advocate for climate policy and environmental protections to combat it. The students also learn how to communicate effectively about the polarizing issue.

Seriously, you didn’t think they would make changes in their own lives, did you? Give up their smartphones and tablets and smartwatches, which use vast amounts of energy and precious metals to mine, produce, ship, and use? Or mom driving them in her fossil fueled vehicle to school and play dates, because it’s hard to ride a bicycle when you have no muscle tone from spending all your time looking down at your phone, right? Or demanding that they can only use renewable energy, which would work spectacularly during the Wisconsin winter months, right? And wouldn’t want to give up their mass produced hoodies and jeans and yoga pants, shipped from far away in fossil fueled vehicles. Or any of the other trappings of modern life. That would be inconvenient.

But, they are happy to learn buzz phrases, talking points, and other things to screech out during protests and such, all to force their beliefs on Other People.

The group meets at Escuela Verde, a charter high school that makes its home in a repurposed factory above Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley. Most of the kids didn’t know one another. They come from different sides of town, attend different schools. But they’re thrown together because of a shared concern: climate change.

I’m sure they all walk, right?

Participants commit to meet every Thursday from 5-7 p.m. for six months. Hart, a senior at Arrowhead High School, travels the furthest but says it’s worth the 30-minute drive.

Guess not. Think they could have built that factory without fossil fuels? How about their schools? The home they live in with mom and dad?

You might be saying “hey, they’re just kids, ease off.” Once you decide to advocate for raising taxes on Other People, limiting their freedom, well, you just entered into Adult Land, and you get what you deserve.

Say, What Would Happen If Trump Uses An Executive Order To End Birthright Citizenship For Illegals?

From what I’ve been reading and hearing, it appears as if any Executive Order on the subject will revolve around “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” from the 14th Amendment. Would it be legal? Constitutional? We’ll have to see how it is written, if it is at all. But, hey, what about those poor kids of illegal aliens?

What Trump’s proposed birthright citizenship order could do to the children of immigrants

President Trump wants to stop the U.S. from automatically granting citizenship to undocumented immigrants’ babies born in the U.S., a policy that — if approved — could hinder those children’s future economic success, critics say.

The president wants to sign an executive order to end birthright citizenship, a rule under the 14th Amendment that guarantees citizenship to children born in the U.S. regardless of their parents’ status, he told Axios. He claimed the U.S. was the only country in the world where immigrants’ babies get all the benefits of citizenship, though that is incorrect — more than 30 countries have birthright citizenship, including Mexico, Canada and Brazil.

Trump said on Twitter TWTR, -1.35%   that birthright citizenship costs the country billions of dollars and is unfair to its residents. Lindsey Graham, a Republican Senator from South Carolina, said birthright citizenship was a “magnet for illegal immigration in modern times.” (snip)

The American Civil Liberties Union has called Trump’s proposal “blatantly unconstitutional.” Executive orders don’t need Congressional approval, but repealing the 14th Amendment would, said Rose Cuison Villazor, director of the Center for Immigration Law, Policy and Justice at Rutgers Law School. There are many unanswered questions about the proposed policy, such as whether it would apply only to children going forward or those who were born to undocumented immigrants in the past, and whether it would apply to children born to one unauthorized immigrant parent or both, she said.

The same people said that Obama’s DACA order was just fine. Regardless, you look at the attempt at misdirection by Marketwatch and writer Allesandra Malito. The picture above is from the article, and shows legal immigrants, most likely during a citizenship ceremony. Trump’s order would not cover them in the least.

If reversing birthright citizenship were to succeed, it would essentially create a second class of Americans — those who were born in the country but do not have the same benefits as citizens, Villazor said. If children were denied citizenship because of both parents’ legal status, there would be another 16 million undocumented people in the U.S. by 2050, according to a 2010 Migration Policy Institute report. If the repealed amendment denied children citizenship because either parent was a noncitizen, however, 24 million people would be unauthorized by 2050 — 2.5 times the amount if birthright citizenship were retained.

If the children were not granted automatic citizenship, then illegal immigration would drop. How much? Good question. The idea is to make it so illegal had less incentive to come illegally.

Interestingly, no one is complaining that there are zero European Union nations that allow birthright citizenship. No complaints about second class citizenship.

The Dominican Republic recently re-interpreted its birthright citizenship policy and retroactively denationalized thousands of Dominicans of Haitian descent, thus limiting their right to work, attend school or obtain birth certificates and passports, said Susan Akram, a clinical professor and director of the International Human Rights Clinic at Boston University School of Law. If the U.S. were to follow this path, the results would be similar, she argued.

“It would deprive all children born in the U.S. to immigrants living without authorization to a plethora of basic rights,” she said. For example, children may have trouble finding work when they’re older without access to identification papers, including driver’s licenses and state ID cards, she said. “The U.S. will be creating a population of stateless persons whom it cannot deport anywhere, but who have neither the right to work nor obtain basic benefits for survival,” she said.

No, the illegal alien parents will be creating this. So, they should stay home. Or apply for citizenship like so many other people do.
