Trump Signs Three Week Continuing Resolution, Vows Either To Get Money Or Do It On His Own

Democrats should think hard about calling this a cave, and running up their refusal to negotiate talking points. If they haven’t been watching Trump since he started running for President, they should know that Trump won’t give up, he won’t stop, he’ll keep pushing, and attacking him on it will make him dig in further and find a way to stick it in their faces

Trump signs bill to end partial government shutdown

President Trump on Friday signed a short-term spending bill to re-open the government, ending the longest partial federal government shutdown in U.S. history. Trump signed the stop-gap spending bill just hours after the measure passed the Senate and House, respectively.

“On Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, the president signed into law: H.J. Res. 28, the ‘Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act, 2019,’ which includes a short-term continuing resolution that provides fiscal year 2019 appropriations through Feb. 15, 2019, for continuing projects and activities of the Federal Government included in the remaining seven appropriations bills,” the White House said in a statement late Friday. “Also included in the enrolled bill are provisions regarding retroactive pay and reimbursement, and extensions of certain authorities.”

Despite an end to the 35-day partial government shutdown, Trump on Friday night felt the need to defend the move, insisting that he had not caved on his sought-after funding for border security.

The deal for a short-term spending bill, which would keep the government open until Feb. 15, was agreed on to help those affected by the partial shutdown, the president said in a tweet.

“I wish people would read or listen to my words on the Border Wall,” Trump tweeted. “This was in no way a concession. It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!” (snip)

During his announcement, Trump made reference to his previous threats to declare a national emergency to secure the border, calling it a “very powerful weapon,” and noted that if no deal was reached to fund border security and construction of a wall before Feb. 15, he would use his presidential powers to declare an emergency.

“Walls should not be controversial,” he said. “As commander-in-chief, my highest priority is the defense of our great country.”

In other words, he will either get his money or do something like declare a national emergency. Don’t make the mistake of thinking he doesn’t have a plan.

And part of that plan is exposing Democrats as people who are unserious about securing the border. They’ve all been saying that they would negotiate once government was reopened. Yet

https://twitter.com/esaagar/status/1088900251753345027

We’ll wait and see if something happens over the next three weeks. If Democrats won’t negotiate money for a border barrier, they will surely be shocked at what Team Trump does, you can count on that. And don’t think that Trump won’t find a way to scapegoat Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrats and get the national media to cover it.

Fake News: NY Times Writer Solicits Stories On Christian Schools

As many responded to Dan, when will they solicit stories on public schools?

Also, when will they do it on Muslim schools, which are hotbeds for extremist Islam?

Regardless, Dan tried to respond a few times in claiming he wanted good stories, too.

https://twitter.com/DanielBranon830/status/1088572764896854017

Think any of the good stories will show up? This is essentially a witch hunt due to the Covington affair. If only the same media had spend a 10th of the same time investigating the Obama administration. When they weren’t avoiding, they were surrounding the wagons.

No, it is an attempt to do a hit job on Christian based schools due to far left bias because of one small incident in which kids involved weren’t the ones at fault.

Global Climahypocrites Call For Action On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

I never did get around to posting on all the hypocrisy of the global elites gathering in Davos, arriving in their fossil fueled private jets

It was either Dana or Guitar Carver who mentioned this in the comments a few days ago. You also had Al Gore talking about “rain bombs” after taking a long fossil fueled trip, and you know he only flies private. And we get this

Global leaders call for action on climate change

World Bank chief Kristalina Georgieva urged the global elites to take a simple step to understand the urgency of combating climate change: “Get the picture of your children, your grandchildren in front of you.”

Speaking on the last day of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Georgieva warned that the potential “cost in terms of suffering is immeasurable” if the world can’t control a rise in temperatures.

She dismissed the idea that cutting emissions would hurt the economy, citing a study that found a rapid rise in temperatures could slash global economic output by 25 percent.

Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, said: “Rising temperatures will wipe out whole segments of economies.”

The “new climate economy,” by contrast, would create 65 million jobs, Georgieva said.

All you have to ask of these climahypocrites is “what’s in it for them?” Seriously, after a small rise of 1.5 Fahrenheit since 1850, Mankind has grown more during that time than any other period in history. The advances are too many to list. Just imagine what’s happened in the last 30 years. Think deep. Sure seems like we’re doing great, and even if there is a rise of another 1.5F (and there’s no proof it would be mostly/solely caused by Mankind), would the whole economy collapse?

Also strange is that Warmists listen to these global elites. Doesn’t the hard left always tell us they are bad people?

Bummer: More Americans Believe In Global Warming, Unwilling To Pay More Than $10 A Month For It

Hey, I believe in global warming. I just believe that it is mostly caused by nature. And we’re all probably paying at least $10 a month for it now, via different government fees and taxes, as well as the crappy ethanol mixed in with our gasoline

From the link

Americans increasingly believe climate change is real, that humanity is largely responsible for it and that something needs to be done to fix the problem.

But even as two new surveys confirm the public’s growing awareness of global warming, they also indicate that the issue is still not a front-burner concern and that taxpayers don’t want to pay very much to rein in the greenhouse gases that are at the root of the problem.

Adding to the challenge, the federal government remains unlikely to act, with climate-skeptic Republicans in control of the White House and the Senate.

Still, the director of the survey that has most consistently tracked public opinion on global warming said there is reason for hope in the most recent survey, conducted by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication.

Hope? Sounds rather like a biased survey, a political survey

The survey, conducted last November and December among 1,114 American adults, showed the most dramatic shifts in public sentiment about global warming since Yale and George Mason began sampling opinion on the topic more than a decade ago. It found that 73 percent of Americans now believe global warming is happening, an increase of 10 percentage points from March 2015. And more than six in 10 now accept the scientific consensus that humans are causing the warming that is altering weather and ecosystems. (snip)

But the survey by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also showed that Americans — despite that knowledge — still do not rate climate change as a front-of-mind issue. Health care, the economy, terrorism, immigration and energy policy were all cited before climate change as concerns in the Associated Press poll, conducted nationwide in November among 1,202 adults. (snip)

But the AP survey also showed that Americans don’t want to pay very much to fight climate change. A $1 per month fee was favored by 57 percent of those surveyed. However, if the monthly charge increased to $10 a month, just 28 percent would be supportive, while 68 percent would be opposed.

Realistically, Warmists would be best off just shutting their mouths about ‘climate change’ and going back to discussing real environmental issues in an rational manner. Who doesn’t want clean air, water, and land? But, they won’t. They also won’t pony up more money from their own pockets.

White House Willing To Go For Compromise On Shutdown, Democrats A Big “No”

One side is willing to negotiate. The other isn’t. One side thinks MS13 has a spark of divinity, while claiming a wall is immoral.

White House: ‘Large down payment’ on wall could end government shutdown

The White House on Thursday signaled that a “large down payment” on border wall funding — and potentially less than the $5.7 billion that President Trump has long requested — could be sufficient to bring Republicans to the table and end the ongoing partial federal government shutdown.

The possible concession from the White House came just minutes after the Senate rejected both Democratic and GOP proposals to end the shutdown, with both measures falling far short of the 60-vote threshold needed to pass.

But Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dismissed the proposal shortly afterward as a nonstarter, saying it was “not a reasonable agreement.”

“I don’t know if he knows what he’s talking about,” Pelosi added, referring to Trump.

The White House, in response, slammed Pelosi’s consistent rejections of compromise proposals. The House speaker has previously said she would not support any legislation that includes funding for the wall, which she characterized as an “immorality.”

If Pelosi and so many Dems aren’t willing to negotiate now, why would Trump, his folks, and any elected Republican think they would be willing to talk after the shutdown ends?

“I know some people call her ‘Fancy Nancy’ — these days, I think a better nickname is ‘Dr. No,'” White House adviser Kellyanne Conway told Fox News on Thursday, referring to Pelosi. “Just keep hearing ‘no’ — just ‘no no no’ all the time – you can’t just stomp your feet and say, ‘Harrumph.'”

She’s good at it, though.

“Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Chuck Schumer are meeting now to see whether or not they can work out of the deadlock,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Thursday evening, after the Senate votes. “As was made clear to Sen. Lindsey Graham, the three-week CR [continuing resolution] would only work if there is a large down payment on the wall.”

Pelosi and company do not know the phrase “good faith.”

“I think we need to find a way to reopen the government,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who hosted the talks, saying, “We just need a commitment by Speaker Pelosi that she will take up a bipartisan bill passed by the Senate if we show there’s a way to the President’s desk.”

Graham issued a statement saying, “The way forward is clear to me: a three-week continuing resolution (CR) that includes a down payment on wall/barrier funding and priorities of Democrats for disaster relief, showing good faith from both sides. I strongly urge my Democratic colleagues to work with the White House on a three-week CR that includes a down payment on wall/barrier funding consistent with DHS priorities.”

Graham said he had met with Trump on Wednesday, mostly about Syria, but the two discussed the shutdown, as well. “He feels like he has moved and they haven’t, so to get a short–term [funding bill], he would need to see some movement on the [Democrats’] part.”

Democrats have rejected deal after deal. Again, why would Trump and the GOP think Dems would even come to the table after the shutdown ends?

AOC Quotes Bible To Defend ‘Climate Change’ Belief

Surprisingly, she won’t give up her own big carbon ways

Ocasio-Cortez invokes Bible in response to White House on climate change

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) on Wednesday responded to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders telling her to leave climate change up to a “much higher authority” by invoking the Bible.

While not quoting specific verses, the freshman lawmaker invoked scripture in defense of her impassioned pleas to address climate change.

The lawmaker appeared to be paraphrasing a Relevant magazine article from last year titled, “Stopping Climate Change Is a Part of Following Jesus.” The article included adapted translations of specific biblical passages.

And they can do all this with a carbon tax and taking away your freedom.

Also, same people freak out over religion, well, only the Christian religion, in a public space.

Philly Is Taking Aim At NRA In Cracking Down On Illegal Guns Or Something

But, they still do want to go after the actual criminals, such as gang-bangers, illegal aliens, and other bad players through aggressive policing, because that would be raaaaacist

Taking Aim at the NRA, Philadelphia DA Vows Crackdown on Illegal Guns

While lambasting what he characterized as his predecessors’ ulterior motives and their tendency to kowtow to the National Rifle Association, Philadelphia’s District Attorney took aim Wednesday at people who buy guns for others who can’t legally own them.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said his office will use a decade-old but barely enforced law to prosecute cases in which gun owners fail to report lost or stolen guns. Anyone who breaks this law will face a $2,000 fine and up to 90 days in jail.

In a fiery hour-long news conference, Krasner also took aim at the NRA, past Philadelphia district attorneys, the federal government, the Republican-controlled Pennsylvania Legislature and the state Attorney General.

“A lot of the guns that are claimed to be lost and stolen never were; they were sold illegally and they end up in the hands of people who commit crimes,” Krasner said.

The district attorney painted a vivid picture of gun owners who have purchased up to 20 guns and who had at least one of those firearms traced to crimes. He called claims that those guns were all lost or stolen “bogus.”

Can anyone point out where the NRA or their spokespeople have stated that they are OK with straw purchases? OK with people doing the above? I’ll wait. Not long, because you won’t find it.

Regardless, this is a strawman. First, good luck trying to purchase 20 guns in a short time in Philly. Even in much less restrictive areas, someone is going to notice all those applications for background checks. Second, there are federal laws on the books for strawman purchases, which are illegal. Law abiding gun owners have no problem with blocking people who shouldn’t have a firearm from getting one, and prosecuting bad players.

Kimberly Burrell, whose 18-year-old son was gunned down in 2009, backed up Krasner’s assertion. Her son’s killer, she said, got ahold of his gun through a so-called straw purchase, whereby someone who is not legally allowed to buy a gun obtains one through a middleman. Her own son was carrying a gun attained through a straw purchase at the time of his death.

Perhaps she should be more worried as to why her son illegally obtained a firearm. Her other two sons have been involved with the criminal justice system, ie, they’ve committed crimes serious enough for jail time. Not mentioned is that she is also part of Krasner’s Crime Victim Advisory Committee.

By all means, go after people who illegally sell firearms. I’m good with it. The NRA is good with that.

The NRA has repeatedly filed lawsuits opposing gun control measures throughout the country. It was unclear if the group will be pursuing a suit against the Philadelphia law, but Krasner said he could see such a legal fight in the horizon.

Unclear meaning that Rudy Chinchilla for NBC 10 in Philly didn’t bother contacting them.

Go ahead and do this, but, at the same time, don’t forget to go after criminals…oh, right, that’s racist.

Cold Weather Doesn’t Mean ‘Climate Change’ Isn’t Fake Or Something

Realistically, cold weather and cold winters do not mean that climate change, whether you believe it is natural or mankind, is fake. The summer of 1778 was reported to be unusually hot, and resulted in more men dying from the heat than from wounds during the Battle Of Monmouth in June of that year. This was during the Little Ice Age.

But, as we’ve seen, the Cult of Climastrology keeps trotting out reasons why you’re use of a fossil fueled vehicle is making it hotter which also makes it colder. And here’s National Geographic

Why cold weather doesn’t mean climate change is fake
Weather and climate aren’t the same thing, meaning you can expect harsher winters in a warming world.

A record-breaking cold snap is relentlessly descending on parts of the U.S. this month. It spawned from a split polar vortex that sent cold, Arctic air across the continent.

In a time when climate change is discussed in the context of record highs, droughts, and wildfires, cold weather and blizzards can seem out of place. For those who deny that climate change is happening, it’s an opportunity to undermine scientific consensus.

Once you mention consensus, you’ve left science.

How do you explain a cold winter in a world that scientists say is getting hotter?

First, it’s important to understand the difference between climate and weather. Climate is defined as the average weather patterns in a region over a long period of time. It’s the difference between Europe’s temperate and Mediterranean zones versus the harsh cold conditions of the Arctic tundra. Each of these climate regions experiences day-to-day fluctuations in temperature, precipitation, air pressure, and so on—daily variations known as weather.

Yet, Warmists do this daily, blaming/linking every weather event on anthropogenic climate change, and even blaming/linking volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis on mankind’s output of carbon pollution.

When the term global warming was popularized a few decades ago, it referred to the phenomenon of greenhouse gases trapping heat in the atmosphere and warming the average temperature of the planet. Though record high temperatures in many places have been one impact of this decades-long shift, scientists now understand that an atmosphere changed by rising levels of gases like carbon and methane leads to more climate changes than just warming.

Scientists believe Earth will experience more extreme, disastrous weather as the effects of climate change play out.

In other words, the actual data for warming wasn’t working out for them, so they changed the language to encompass everything. Totally scientific, eh?

In response to President Trump’s January 20 tweet about cold temperatures, Potsdam University physicist Stefan Rahmstorf noted on Twitter that, while North America was experiencing cold Arctic air, the rest of the world was abnormally hot. And, the polar vortex bringing that cold air to the U.S. may actually become increasingly unstable, Rahmstorf noted.

As more Arctic air flows into southern regions, North America can expect to see harsher winters. That was the conclusion of a study published in 2017 in the journal Nature Geoscience. It found a link between warmer Arctic temperatures and colder North American winters. A separate study published in March of last year in the journal Nature Communications found the same link but predicted the northeastern portion of the U.S. would be particularly hard hit.

Same old same old way of blaming mankind for creating a warmer world that will have winter weather. Cult.
