These Extinction Rebellion People Want You To Take Them And Hotcoldwetdry Seriously Or Something

They’re begging you, folks, begging you, and they’re being totally not nuts about it!

These Pictures Of Activists Begging You To Take Climate Change Seriously Are Intense

Since last year, activists with the climate activism group Extinction Rebellion have been grabbing headlines across Europe for their disruptive protests. Founded on the principle of using nonviolent civil disobedience, they intend to force people to pick a side: address climate change or cooperate with a system that is dragging the world toward catastrophe.

While they’ve been getting their name and message out there with their activities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, South Africa, and elsewhere, winning over converts in small groups with their vision of change is what’s caused their numbers to swell, BuzzFeed News’ J. Lester Feder reports.

Here are some of the most eye-catching pictures from their protests, demonstrations, rallies, and actions around the world.

I’m taking it seriously. How about you? (more below the fold)

Bummer: 2nd Republican To Challenge AOC For 2020

In reality, Republicans have, at best, a 2% shot at winning the seat in NY14. It is a purely safe seat for Democrats. But, it might cause Democrats to nominate another Democrat to primary her, especially with all the in-fighting between her, her squad, and Justice Democrats against Nancy Pelosi and the other Democrats

Second Republican announces plans to challenge Ocasio-Cortez in New York

Republican John Cummings on Friday announced plans to challenge Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for her seat next year.

Cummings said in an interview with the New York Post that he was inspired to launch his own congressional bid by Ocasio-Cortez’s long shot run last year.

“But to just come from the outside and take somebody on is really difficult,” Cummings, a 59-year-old civics teacher and former police officer, told the Post.

“It was pointed out to me by my students that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pretty much made my excuse — and I’ll use their quotes — ‘a lame one,’ ” he added of the former bartender. (snip)

Cummings is the second Republican to announce a challenge to Ocasio-Cortez, joining Ruth Papazian.

Regardless of who eventually wins the GOP’s congressional nomination, Ocasio-Cortez will enter the race with a huge advantage in a district that Hillary Clinton carried over President Trump by nearly 58 points in 2016.

Remember, though, AOC polls very badly in her district. What happens if one of these Republicans starts offering ideas that the people in NY14 like and gains traction? Meh, it almost doesn’t matter, AOC will get primaried. She’s caused too many problems in the Dem party.

Trump Gets Big Win Against Sanctuary Cities In Court

Nice to know that a court actually rules on Law rather than their personal political leanings now and then

Appeals court gives Trump a win in sanctuary city case

A federal appeals court gave President Donald Trump a rare legal win in his efforts to crack down on “sanctuary cities” Friday, upholding the Justice Department’s decision to give preferential treatment in awarding community policing grants to cities that cooperate with immigration authorities.

The 2-1 opinion overturned a nationwide injunction issued by a federal judge in Los Angeles. The court said awarding extra points in the application process to cities that cooperate was consistent with the goals of the grant program created by Congress.

“The Department is pleased that the Court recognized the lawful authority of the Administration to provide favorable treatment when awarding discretionary law-enforcement grants to jurisdictions that assist in enforcing federal immigration laws,” the Justice Department said in an emailed statement.

“This ruling reverses a lawless decision that enabled Sanctuary City policies, putting the safety and security of all Americans in harm’s way,” the White House said later Friday in an emailed statement. “We urge citizens across America to demand that Democrat leaders cease their support for Sanctuary policies that deprive Americans of life, limb, and liberty.”

If cities do not want to cooperate with federal law enforcement, if they do not want to enforce federal law, then why give them money? Let them get it by raising taxes on their own citizens and/or asking for money from the state.

Streaming Porn Has A Carbon Footprint Bigger Than Belgium Or Something

Obviously, the solution here is to ban all streaming porn, and everyone go back to VHS…wait, no, they are made of plastic, which comes from oil. How about DVDs? No, plastic as well. Magazines? Nope, dead trees. Well, we’re just going to have to ban porn except in person to save the Earth from getting a fever

Streaming online pornography produces as much CO2 as Belgium

The transmission and viewing of online videos generates 300 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, or nearly 1 per cent of global emissions. On-demand video services such as Netflix account for a third of this, with online pornographic videos generating another third.

This means the watching of pornographic videos generates as much CO2 per year as is emitted by countries such as Belgium, Bangladesh and Nigeria.

That’s the conclusion of a French think tank called The Shift Project. Earlier this year, it estimated that digital technologies produce 4 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions and that this figure could soar to 8 per cent by 2025.

The move to ever higher quality videos, such as 8K resolution, will contribute to pushing up emissions further. So too could the launch of game streaming services, such as Google’s Stadia, but the report did not try to estimate their impact.

The authors call for measures to limit the emissions from online videos, such as preventing them from autoplaying and not transmitting videos in high definition when it is unnecessary. For instance, some devices can now display higher resolutions than people can perceive. The report says regulation will be necessary.

“This once again demonstrates the need for the designers of digital services to think carefully about the overall  impact of the services they provide,” Preist says. “For individuals, upgrading our devices less often, owning less devices, and not demanding mobile high quality internet connection everywhere are probably the most important actions we can take.”

To limit climate change we need to reduce energy consumption as well as switching to renewable sources, says one of the report’s authors, Maxime Efoui. “Producing new energy infrastructure generates emissions, even if the electricity produced is eventually renewable,” he says.

Who’s going to limit this? The streaming companies? Good luck with that. This is about Government making laws and rules to control things.

Though I’m personally OK with a federal government law stopping autoplay. Fricking annoying. I was amused by the use of the lady from the Distracted Boyfriend meme, though.

Excitable California Passes Bill Requiring Trump To Release His Tax Returns To Be On Ballot

Sure, sure, this is for all who are running for president (wink wink). It has nothing personally to do with Donald Trump (wink wink)

California Passes Measure Requiring Presidential Candidates To Release Tax Returns

The California Legislature has overwhelmingly passed a measure requiring all presidential and gubernatorial candidates to release their tax returns to get on the primary ballot, which could shake things up for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

The Presidential Tax Transparency & Accountability Act, SB 27, would require that the candidates release the previous five years of their returns. The bill passed 57-17 in the Assembly on Tuesday and 29-10 in the state Senate Thursday. It now awaits the signature of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom to become law.

The measure includes an urgency clause, which would allow the legislation to take effect immediately, in time for the 2020 election, reports ABC-7 News. The measure only applies to the primary ballot because the state constitution allows political parties to nominate their own presidential candidates in the general election.

Wait, wait, we were told this was supposed to be a Big Deal. But, if it only counts for primary season, not the general election, this is meaningless, even if someone decides to run against Trump, because Trump will still be the GOP contender. It’s a little detail that most of the Useful Democratic Idiots will miss, thinking that this will block Trump from being on the 2020 ballot when it does no such thing. It’s a feel good measure.

Eighteen other states have legislation similar to California’s, but none has become law, according to a database tracked by the National Conference of State Legislatures. California, the most populous state, has more than 24 million eligible voters.

“Presidential candidates need to put their own interests aside in the name of transparency,” bill author, state Sen. Mike McGuire (D), said in a statement. “So far, our current president has done the opposite. It’s time that President Trump steps up, stops with the obstruction, and follows through with 40 years of time-honored tradition that has made this nation’s democracy stronger.”

McGuire is confident the law would withstand a legal challenge, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Here’s a question: why even challenge this in court, when it means nothing to Trump? Perhaps for future candidates who need to be on the primary ballot, but not Trump. It is very dubiously Constitutional, since, even though this would be a state level vote, the Federal Constitution lays out the qualifications to be President, and it doesn’t specify the difference between a primary or general election.

But, Democrats just can’t help themselves, and, at this point, Trump is surely refusing to show his taxes just to drive Democrats nuttier.

We Need A Non-Proliferation Treaty For Fossil Fuels Or Something

Remember, these same people attempting to force Everyone Else to give up their fossil fuels per government decree mostly refuse to voluntarily give up their own. The article even features a pithy picture of a nuclear detonation!

Why we need a non-proliferation treaty for fossil fuels

The burning of fossil fuels is the primary cause of the current climate crisis. And yet the Paris Agreement, the landmark accord which is meant to keep the world from passing warming of 1.5C, does not even mention them.

We need a new approach which puts front and centre the increasingly obvious need to fairly leave the majority of fossil fuel reserves in the ground.

(blah blah blah, typical Warmist claptrap)

In a paper in Climate Policy, we make the case for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty (NPT). Taking its cue from the non-proliferation treaty for nuclear weapons concluded after just three years in 1968, a fossil fuel version could have three pillars.

These parallel those of the nuclear NPT: non-proliferation (an agreement not to exploit new reserves), disarmament (the managed decline of existing fossil fuel infrastructure) and peaceful use (the financing of low carbon alternatives through a global transition fund). (snip)

These are actions which national governments could list as part of their climate commitments under the Paris Agreement to raise the level of ambition.

See, the only way to make this happen is by Government force. Funny how that always seems to be the solution, eh?

Congressional Black Caucus Furious That Justice Democrats Targeting Black Lawmakers

As I’m sure you’ve read, Nancy Pelosi is in a bit of a spat with AOC and the other 3 members of her Brat Pack, with AOC firing back at one point about  “the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.” Some other Democrats are coming back swinging at the Brat Pack, and then there’s this

CBC lawmakers rip Justice Democrats for targeting black lawmakers for primaries

Congressional Black Caucus members are furious at Justice Democrats, accusing the outside progressive group aligned with firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) of trying to oust lawmakers of color, specifically African-American lawmakers.

Justice Democrats is backing primary challengers to eight-term Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), a Hispanic Caucus member, and 10-term Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). The insurgent group also made noise this year about challenging Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), a CBC member seen as the heir apparent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

And CBC leaders are fretting that Justice Democrats may target other black lawmakers in the coming weeks and months, including Reps. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), Emanual Cleaver (D-Mo.) and Anthony Brown (D-Md.). Brown said the group has been making calls in his district, actively trying to recruit a challenger to run against him.

“It just seems strange that the social Democrats seem to be targeting members of the Congressional Black Caucus, individuals who have stood and fought to make sure that African Americans are included and part of this process,” Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.), a senior CBC member, told The Hill.

“I don’t know what that agenda is, but if they want to come after members of the Black Caucus, it’s two ways,” warned Meeks, the Queens Democratic party boss who clashed with Justice Democrats in a local district attorney race last month.

Now, in fairness, some of the challengers are Black, but, this sure seems to be an attempt to, using their language, silence the voices of Blacks who have done great work for the community.

Some Democrats are hoping that Ocasio-Cortez, the rabble-rousing freshman with 4.7 million Twitter followers, gets a primary challenge herself in 2020.

You can almost be this will happen. Polls in NY14 shows that only 13% of the people in that district want her re-elected. Personally, I hope she sticks around, along with the rest of her America hating pack, because this just hurts the Democrats.

Surprise: AOC’s Chief Of Staff Admits Green New Deal Not About ‘Climate Change’

Who’s surprised? Anyone?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Chief of Staff Admits: Green New Deal About Socialism, Not Climate

Saikat Chakrabarti, the chief of staff and former campaign mastermind for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), reportedly admitted that the “Green New Deal” was not originally about climate change, but changing the economy.

That claim comes from Sam Ricketts, who directs climate change policy for for Washington Governor Jay Inslee, one of the two dozen candidates for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. Ricketts met with Chakrabarti this spring to make acquaintances after Ocasio-Cortez called Inslee’s climate change plan the “gold standard” in policy.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday:

Chakrabarti had an unexpected disclosure. “The interesting thing about the Green New Deal,” he said, “is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.” Ricketts greeted this startling notion with an attentive poker face. “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?” Chakrabarti continued. “Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”

Now, you might be thinking that this was Ricketts making it up or getting the quotes wrong, but, in fact, the Washington Post’s David Montgomery was there during that meeting, and was recording it all. This is all exactly as we’ve said: using ‘climate change’ as a front to change everything to Modern Socialism.
