Good Grief: Cold Weather Events More Likely Due To “Climate Change”

These people are simply nuts

(The Hill) Global warming may be contributing to the “polar vortex” causing frigid temperatures across most of the nation on Monday, according to some climate change researchers.

While it seems counter-intuitive, the research argues that plunging temperatures could come from changes in the jet stream caused by climate change.

Rutgers University climate scientist Jennifer A Francis has released a number of papers about changes in the jet stream brought about by warming Arctic temperatures.

Her conclusions suggest that warming Arctic air caused by greenhouse gas emissions has caused changing to the jet stream that is pushing colder Arctic air further south, causing temperatures to plunge from the High Plains to the Deep South.

Except it’s winter in the Arctic and … why bother explaining any sort of science, facts, and reality to Warmists, they aren’t interested in it in the least.

She said the strange weather is becoming more likely because of climate change.

“We can’t say that these are extremes are because of climate change but we can say that this kind of pattern is becoming more likely because of climate change,” Francis said.

There you have it: people driving fossil fueled vehicles are making it more likely that the nation will see massive cold fronts more often. And some wonder why Skeptics refer to Warmists as members of a doomsday cult. They perform climate astrology on a constant basis. Cold used to be caused by cold, now cold is caused by warmth. Ridiculous.

Ms. Francis is not the only moonbat yammering on about a link to “climate change”. There are numerous articles with Warmists desperately attempting to link the “polar vortex” to mankind’s release of greenhouse gases. I featured a few Monday. The Wire think it’s ironic that fossil fuels production is shut down to to the cold weather. Many are trotting out the same mule fritters line about warmth causing a dip in the jet stream. Because cold weather never happened before.

The Pirate doesn’t realize it, but he is telling you that science is hard and takes an effort to understand, and he is correct. But you have to make the effort. The far right cult of ignorance prefers taglines to thought; bullying to discussion; magic to science. The scientists are now moonbats, nuts and warmists.

  2. Trish Mac says:

Jeffrey, the stupid attempts to demean Teach are just that. Obvious you lack debate on your part, since you can only find ridicule as your tool.
You can’t believe that just because they’ve named this event the “polar vortex” for maximum effect, that it has not happened before and will occur again? And the fact that you all want to say that manmade greenhouse gases can cause whatever you want it to, from excessive heat to now freezing cold, is ludicrous. The mini-ice age and other extreme climate events occurred before man was busy driving cars and heating their homes with fossil fuels. If perhaps you’d all stop trying so damn hard to link every single gust of wind or balmy summer to “AGW” perhaps we could discuss rationally.

As for me, this is simply bundle up to go out, and cuddling weather, this sit by the fireplace and two dog night weather, this is what I remember growing up with, standing at the bus stop freezing, sledding or ice skating all day long and warming up by a fire ON the pond.

  3. Jeffery says:

The Far-Right Ignorance Cult (FRIC) trots out snow stories every winter to refute global climate change. How can the Earth be warming if it’s still cold in winter in Chicago?!? lol

  4. Jeffery says:

    Trish,

The polar vortex is not new or just recently trotted out (don’t rely on someone like The Pirate as your sole source of information – his intent is to mislead and confuse, not elucidate). It just usually (but not always) stays, you know, polar. Yes, it has happened before and will happen again (likely with greater frequency, as predicted by climate scientists).

It is good that you are learning to live with the weather as it is, as we all should. Depending on where you live, you will continue to see more frequent extremes of hot, wet, cold and dry just as The Pirate claims.

Humans are changing the climate of the Earth. Some changes may be positive for humans, some changes negative but our cultures and civilization evolved in a period of extended stable climate, especially in the last few hundred years.

  5. Trish Mac says:

Thanks Jeffrey, for assuming I don’t read anything about science or climate except Pirates Cove, on which I do rely for updates on the latest things warmists are claiming and other fun news.

And thanks for the snarkiness about my adaptability to the weather, I’ve been on this planet longer than you I bet, all of that time living in the northeast, and have seen snow at Easter and worn shorts at Christmas. I love my winters, and my summers too. And no two of either, have ever been just alike.

The arrogance of believing that man has made any significant changes the climate still astounds me. And you said “but our cultures and civilization evolved in a period of extended stable climate, especially in the last few hundred years.” Which proves it.

  6. Jl says:

How funny- they re-name it climate change when the warming stopped but now say civilization advanced during during “an extended period of stable climate, especially the last few hundred years.” Climate change=stable climate! I get it. Anyway, in talking about the earth’s climate, a “few hundred years” is anything but “extended”, it’s more like a second or two. And if the alarmists have the data showing how this, as they say, “stable period” hasn’t happened before I’d love to see it. Actually, Homo Sapiens has been evolving since the last ice age, or before. In other words, we have over time adapted to the changing climate. Interesting, isn’t it- early man, small brain, no technology= adaptation. But today’s man, with superior intelligence and technology= doomsday. Simply amazing “logic”.

  7. PatriotUSA says:

    Sigh,

Just spin the stupid for these brainwashed morons who believe that this is all caused by evil, man made actions. Climate change has been around for how long???

While you free thinkers who, are still sniffing Al Gore’s farts, I will go toss some more firewood on our now EPA banned wood stove which in 2006 was in the top three of cleanest burning wood stoves every made.

And Jeffery. just for you and other moonbat earth muffins I have a nice big knotty piece of Pine full of pitch and particulate matter that I will burn in your idiotic honor.

    9.Jeff,
    Lets test some knowledge.
According to the warming bunch, the seas are turning acidic, but no one mentions what acid, what acid is making the sea acidic?

Now, we are burning fossil fuels and this is increasing the concentration of CO2 in the upper atmosphere and thus the greenhouse effect as warmth is collected on earth. Please explain how CO2 reaches the upper atmosphere. This is a trick question so don’t act out of reflex.

  9. Jeffery says:

Trish typed: “The arrogance of believing that man has made any significant changes (to) the climate still astounds me.”

Trish, this explains most of what is wrong with the “skeptics” ideological position. Your beliefs get in the way of the evidence. I’ve known it all along, but the likes of The Pirate claim a more defensible scientific high-ground when really it’s about ideology. It’s science vs magic.

“Patriot”: In my experience, men compelled to call themselves a patriot most likely are not, and don’t remotely understand what the word means. By all means, burn you some firewood, spit tobacky out from where them front teeth used to be, take another hit of meth and cuddle with your step-daughter.

  10. Jeffery says:

    Carbonic acid, since CO2 + H2O H2CO3 H+ + HCO3-. Ocean pH has dropped 0.1 pH unit.

CO2 is transported to the upper atmosphere exclusively by mountain climbers. Global warming correlates with the number of mountaineers summiting Everest. Did you trick me??

  11. david7134 says:

Sorry jeff, answers are wrong or don’t correlate with the literature. In other words, you are only using talking points and have not really investigated or referenced the material. Maybe when you get out of high school, you will understand.

  12. Jeffery says:

You’re david duke, aren’t you?? Now it all makes sense!

Please, Mr. Grand Wizard or Imperial Cyclops, give us the correct answers.

Jeff, the science is not in. And any thinking person knows it. Those who just want to believe it is because it fits their mantra, those who feel good believing in it, and those who take the word of people who stand to profit from “climate change” are the only people who believe in it.

11.Thanks for the reference to David Duke. I know the man as he went to LSU when I did. He has opinions, but actually desires to help people more than the liberals, he truly wants people out of poverty rather than to languish in it like the Dems desire. Maybe if you were not so bigoted, you would be able to hear positive parts of messages. But, Duke is a socialist and thus, closer to the liberals.

Now, reference the issue of CO2 not being a heavy gas. And you haven’t started to understand were I am going with the question. In fact, you don’t understand chemistry, do you?

    daisy duke,

Tell me more about your fear of chemistry, you pathetic little man.

OMG… please don’t tell me you think CO2 is so heavy it pools around our ankles, lol. Tell me you have something more. This is your last chance, sheetwearer.
