In 1974 Time Blamed Polar Vortex On Global Cooling

What a change religiosity, er, 40 years makes (via Steven Goddard)

Scientists have found other indications of global cooling. For one thing there has been a noticeable expansion of the great belt of dry, high-altitude polar winds —the so-called circumpolar vortex—that sweep from west to east around the top and bottom of the world.

That’s from Time’s big article “Another Ice Age?” Yesterday I linked to a Time article blaming the PV on warming. As Goddard notes

At least the 1974 version made sense. Bryan Walsh’s 2014 version makes a complete farce out of science.

But, Warmists aren’t practicing science.

Ok, my hippie friends. Bill Teach seems to be on to us. It’s time to swivel away from AGW and now claim that… GMOs are destroying the planet! That’s right, GMOs. It will take lots of grants and of course some kind of special tax to prove how deadly they are. Talk to your congressman post haste!

I know a guy who ate genetically modified wheat, and then just a couple of years later, he died! What more proof do you need? GMOs are evil. In fact, every person involved in that plane crash died, and we’re pretty sure they’d all eaten something genetically modified at some point.

Anyway, my point is that we need some tax dollars to fix this.

  4. Heh! That, and they’re making a push to get people (by government decree) to stop eating meat.

  5. Jeffery says:

Most scientific publications in the 1970s addressing climate change predicted warming, not cooling. That the mainstream media was wrong does not change the actual evidence.

  6. Jeffery says:

    Sorry Kevin.

This hippie, plus most educated folks, find The Pirate’s hapless “arguments” on global warming unpersuasive. His “arguments” amount to name-calling, ridicule, and whining that climate realists drive a car to work.

Warming remains one of humankind’s long term challenges.

  7. Thawed_Gumballs says:

Exactly Kevin and Teach. They are changing the topic again since they’ve lost this argument.

Now they are going to claim that due to global warming, the -47F experience would have been worse. it could have been -48F. Just wait till this summer. Then you’ll want this winter cold back.

“That the mainstream media was wrong does not change the evidence.” And what evidence would that be?
