Labor leaders, liberal religious leaders and the NAACP will hold a rally on the National Mall on October 2, one month before the fall midterm elections, in an attempt to show they too have political clout and momentum in response to last Saturday’s massive gathering of Tea Party types led by Fox News host Glenn Beck.
“The AFL-CIO is determined that the Tea Party and its corporate backers are not going to get the final word,†said AFL-CIO executive vice president Arlene Holt Baker. “We will expect tens of thousands of union families to come.â€

that is 1,200,000 sq ft. Please tell me how 750,000 people can fit into 1,200,000 sq ft. I say that each person took up 10 s sq ft (3.1×3.1′) and that there were at most 120,000 there. If you blow up those picture at the bottom you can see a lot of green grass unoccupied space. The people who took those pics and make a living at estimating crowd size say 90,000 people were there. And a lot had walkers and scooters the crowd’s average age was well over 50

And no, it might not count for those who dedicated themselves to show up, but what about the near million that caught both of his events streaming live or watched it on TV?
Anything they raise will go right back into their own coffers, JP. They raise money for themselves, not others. Liberals are very uncharitable.
As for the photo, it was taken at an angle and, if my research (which I posted in a comment at Riehl World View) is correct, was probably taken at more like 130 or later. I’d love for them to release all the photos, with time stamps, and then we’ll see what we have to see.
Oh, and we can’t forget to count all the folks who were on the left side of the Reflecting Pool, as one looks out from the Lincoln Memorial towards the Washington Monument, which the photo does not show. They were all the way in and through the trees. I was on the right side, about half way towards the Lincoln Memorial, and could see tons of people across the way. And you cannot see all the people lining the right side of the pool, as they are hidden by the trees in the photo.
