AGW Today: Obama Climahypocrisy, Greenpeace Damage Control, Carbon Taxes

Not that any of us should be surprised by this typical “do as I say not as I do

He may have proposed cap-and-trade legislation to limit carbon emissions and toughened fuel-economy standards, but there’s one thing President Obama won’t do to help the environment.  He won’t be going hybrid.  The Secret Service won’t let him.

CBS News reports, “As he took questions at a North Carolina plant that makes battery components for hybrid cars, the president was asked about prospects for an electric-powered White House limousine. Mr. Obama revealed that when he first received Secret Service protection, he asked if he could ride in a hybrid vehicle. But his protectors rejected the idea.”

Got that? It’s the Secret Service’s fault. Hey, if hybrids were so great, they could certainly make one he USSS would approve of, right? I certainly hope Barry’s limo has its tire’s properly inflated.

Say, remember when a Greenpeace wacko wrote:

We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

And we be many, but you be few.

Yeah, about that. Seems that they were forced to take it down.

The United States should consider raising taxes to help bring deficits under control and may need to consider a European-style value-added tax, White House adviser Paul Volcker said on Tuesday.

Volcker, answering a question from the audience at a New York Historical Society event, said the value-added tax “was not as toxic an idea” as it has been in the past and also said a carbon or other energy-related tax may become necessary.

Though he acknowledged that both were still unpopular ideas, he said getting entitlement costs and the U.S. budget deficit under control may require such moves. “If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes,” he said.

Sweet! You’re energy costs need to go up to pay for ObamaCare and such. I thought only “the rich” were going to pay for it? (via Tom Nelson)
