TLF: David Obey Actual Uses The Word “Moral”

It is hard to take serious any Democrat who uses the word “moral”

House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) accused President Bush on Monday of making “the wrong moral choice” in setting priorities for the federal budget.

Obey said that while Bush is “pouring mountains of cash into the Iraqi civil war, at the same time he’s pouring $60 billion in tax cuts into the pockets of people who make more than a million bucks a year, he is refusing to make investments at home that will make us a stronger and better society with a greater capacity to pay off those long-term debts.”

“The American people know that is the wrong economic choice and the wrong moral choice,” he said at a briefing in Washington, D.C., on Monday, noting that instead tax dollars should be used to invest in “workers, kids and infrastructure.”

As far as morals go, Obey is probably one of the few in the Democrat Party with a small measure, having voted several times against partial birth abortion, and only getting a 30% rating from NARAL. However, he is a big supporter of embryonic stem cell research and has voted no on preferential race treatment. Actually a very mixed record. But, the party he represents is strongly pro abortion and tends to do whatever feels good, rather then is right.

As far as investments go, is that the new word for earmarks? Because those bills that the Congress keeps considering, and Bush keeps vetoing, are full of earmarks and pork. Heck, some that Bush has had no choice but to sign have been full of earmarks. Since Obey is chairman of the appropriations committee, he is the one who controls that.

Democrats are the last people to be speaking about moral choices, what with their support for abortion on demand, providing aid and comfort for America’s enemies, and refusing to speak straight and act in good faith about what they really want, such as massive tax increases, the nanny state, and control of our lives.

Meanwhile, Mr. Morals managed to slur our troops serving in Iraq. “We’re (meaning the troops) running out of people to kill.” See Amanda Carpenter at Townhall, Michelle Malkin,  Right Wing News, and Don Surber for more, including video.
