Austria prepares to deport Syrian migrants after Assad regime falls
Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the U.K. said they will halt Syrian asylum applications one day after rebel forces ousted the country’s dictator.

Austria has announced plans to deport Syrian migrants following the fall of the country’s dictator Bashar Assad to rebel forces after 13 years of civil war, while Belgium, France, Greece and Germany are pausing Syrian asylum applications.

“I have instructed the ministry to prepare an orderly return and deportation program to Syria,” Interior Minister Gerhard Karner told Austrian media, without clarifying which migration statuses would be targeted. Some 100,000 Syrians live in Austria, according to the country’s statistics agency.

One day after Syrian rebel factions, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) — designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and the United Kingdom — took Damascus, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Greece and the Netherlands are using the success of the rebels to revise their migration policies, with all six closing their doors to asylum seekers. The U.K. has also said it will stop processing asylum applications from Syrians.

The decisions to revise the asylum policies come as anti-immigrant far-right parties have surged in popularity across the European Union in recent months. Germany, for example, faces snap elections in February, with far-right parties currently performing strongly in the polls.

Obviously, Politico couldn’t leave that bit of moonbattery out. Maybe citizens in 1st World Countries are simply tired of being overrun with foreigners who do not share their values, their mores, their beliefs, their culture, and so much more, and refuse to assimilate to the host countries, all while being told that

  • Citizens of the host country must assimilate to the foreigners
  • Money and housing will go to the foreigners
  • Citizens just need to suck it up when it comes to things like crime, assault, sexual assault, and so much more from the foreigners
  • If citizens say or do anything Mean in person or on the Internet the citizens could go to jail

Seriously, it’s not like many of these Syrians are Islamic extremists, right, and, that most tend to be fighting age men, right?

(Washington Post) Some have been eager to return — as they felt the pull of family, faced the difficulty of building new lives in resistant host countries or found themselves in places even more unstable. As Lebanon emerged as the latest battleground in the Middle East, thousands of Syrians had begun streaming back across the border.

But for refugees who have spent more than a decade in the liberal democracies of Europe, returning to a Syria under an Islamist government, even one that has publicly pledged tolerance, could be a jarring change, particularly for children.

The problem here is that the Syrians are mostly keeping their own culture. They have not given up their Syrian ways.

If Biden-Harris want to attempt to bring Syrians they’d have to do it quickly, obviously. Be thankful Harris did not win, I could easily see her taking tens of thousands if not more Syrians in, all unvetted. Trump won’t. Trump will most likely look to send the ones here back.

Pink Is The Color Of Climate Doom Photography Or Something

Russian-born American photographer Anastasia Samoylova loves “Barbie.” Not only did she wear a hot pink suit to the opening of her own photography exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in October, she also insisted on taking her teenage son to see Greta Gerwig’s 2023 film — considering it essential feminist viewing. “Is it perfect? No. But it addresses very complicated and divisive subjects,” Samoylova told CNN in a video call from her home in Florida. She recalls how Margot Robbie’s title character, Barbie, stops the euphoric dance floor in its tracks when she wonders aloud, “do you guys ever think about dying?” “That’s literally what I’ve been trying to communicate,” said Samoylova. “This is all pink and attractive, but we are going to die.”

Samoylova, whose work is currently on display at both the Met Museum in New York and the Saatchi Gallery in London, has garnered critical acclaim for her subtle, anxiety-inducing images of Florida’s collapsing pastel-pink landscapes. Her 2019 series “Flood Zone” — a nod to the unnervingly bureaucratic label that can often dictate life or death — is a surreal chronicle of an area decaying in real time. (snip)

The insidious, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it approach to her observational photography is intentional. Several years of capturing political extremism, gentrification and environmental disintegration has given Samoylova time to think about how to package disastrous messaging. “How do you communicate these very complex subjects and make them relatable?” she asks. “The trickiest part is to not make them off-putting.” Come for the pink sidewalks that characterize the streets of Miami — as many tourists do — and stay for the subsequent feelings of existential dread. It’s a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down, she says. “(Climate change) is stigmatized, and it’s become divisive, at least where I live in the US, especially in Florida. And who knows, it’s likely going to be erased from the conversation again.”

There’s so much cult doom in the article it’s hard to know where to begin. And end. Apparently, a gator hanging in the swamps is climate doom. And

Trump Tells NBC News He Wants To End Birthright Citizenship For Illegals, Supports Push For Dreamers

This has made NBC News very upset and pushing partisanship in their article, failing to realize that the majority voted for Trump for this stuff, and, even many who didn’t vote Trump want illegals gone

Trump aims to end birthright citizenship, says American citizens with family here illegally may be deported

President-elect Donald Trump said in an interview with “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker that “you have no choice” but to deport everyone who is illegally in the U.S., including possibly removing the American citizen family members of those deported.

Trump also said he will move to end birthright citizenship — long enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution — which would strip rights from those born in the country to undocumented parents.

But, he said, he is open to working with Democrats to pass legislation that would ensure Dreamers — undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. as children — would be able to remain in the country.

Can you end birthright citizenship for the children of illegals? You can find tons of articles which say yes and tons that say no. The 14th was meant to make those brought here as slaves, and their descendants, US citizens. Consider that children born to foreign diplomats: they will not gain US citizenship no matter where they are born on American soil. It goes to the “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” clause in the 1st line of the 14th: are these children subject to the jurisdiction of the US or to the home countries of the illegals? Especially when they are conceived in a foreign country then come in with pregnant mama.

So, a case can be made to deny them citizenship. Could this be made retroactive, or, simply a case going forward? Also, how will this be monitored? That won’t be easy.

As for Dreamers: I don’t agree, but, I have a plan, as I wrote in 2017

Here’s a recommendation: Congress puts DACA into law, but allows 4 year renewals, rather than 2 years, in order to decrease burden on federal agencies. Just like with people who are applying for citizenship, any serious crimes can be cause to cancel an illegals legal status and deport them. And, yes, even DUIs may be considered cause, just like with those applying for citizenship. After 12 years, they can go through the same process as those applying for citizenship in order to attempt to earn full citizenship.

BUT, if we aren’t going to lay the “sins” of the parent(s) on the children, we are going to lay them on the parent(s). In order to obtain DACA status, the parent(s) must self deport, and provide proof at an immigration checkpoint as they leave. They are not allowed back in the United States for 2 years, and then only for a short visit. If they are caught residing in the U.S., or attempting to enter the country illegally, the children will have their DACA status ended and will be deported. After 12 years, they would be allowed to apply for temporary resident status, conditioned on speaking English and having good moral character. This seems fair. The parents broke our laws.

If you don’t agree with punishing the parents, then you’re simply using DACA to create a backdoor amnesty for all.

Rand Paul and Alex Padilla (D) introduced a plan in 2021. The beauty of a plan would be that this would cover Dreamers up to a point, and then it ends this completely. No more. You come in underage you get sent home.

Trump’s comments about his mass deportation plan, a key promise of his presidential campaign, were the most expansive since he won the election in November. The program, he said, will begin with undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes and then advance to “people outside of criminals.” He did not detail which crimes would be included.

“I think you have to do it,” Trump said of his deportation effort. “It’s a very tough thing to do. It’s — but you have to have, you know, you have rules, regulations, laws. They came in illegally. You know, the people that have been treated very unfairly are the people that have been on line for 10 years to come into the country.”

“We have to get the criminals out of our country,” Trump said, later adding: “But we’re starting with the criminals, and we got to do it. And then we’re starting with others, and we’re going to see how it goes.”

Yet, Democrats will caterwaul about removing gang members, rapists, and murderers because it could mean that other illegals get deported.

Ice Free Arctic Doom Moved Out To 2027. Maybe 2030

There have been all sorts of prognostications of the Arctic being ice free, and none of them have come to fruition, yet, no one has been forced to apologize or been fired. Al Gore famously stated that it would be ice free in 2014.

An Ice-Free Arctic Could Come Before 2030, Study Finds

Ice loss in the Arctic has long been a sign of climate change, but an Arctic entirely free of ice has still seemed a long way off.

Not so, according to a recent study, which found that the Arctic could see its first ice-free day before the end of the decade.

The term “ice-free” is approximate since small patches of ice will cling to Greenland and the northern edges of Canada long after the rest of the Arctic has melted. Researchers measure the amount of frozen Arctic in “sea ice extent,” meaning areas with at least 15 percent of sea ice concentration. The Arctic is considered ice-free when there are less than one million square kilometers of sea ice.

It is hard to predict when exactly this will happen. Models consistently underestimate ice loss, and global weather patterns affect conditions at the Poles. But this most recent study found it could be as early as 2027.

Combining 11 different climate models, researchers Celine Heuze and Alexandra Jahn examined over 300 scenarios for the future of ice in the Arctic. Nearly one-tenth of them showed the first ice-free day occurring within the next 10 years, with the earliest prediction only a few years away. Even conservative models estimate the Arctic will be free of ice within 30 years.

Ah. So, they really do not know, they’re just guessing with their computer models, and, as usual, focus on their “worst case”. But, they give themselves an out with the 30 year prognostication. And if that doesn’t happen, no one will remember this one.

We can prevent this, though

According to researchers, the good news is that “if we could keep warming below the Paris Agreement target of 1.5 °C of global warming, ice-free days could potentially still be avoided.”

So, give up your money and freedom to government and we can “do something.”

Biden Offers Support For Syria

That’s great and all, but, what is this going to cost the American people?

Biden cheers Assad toppling, offers support for Syrian people as US hits ISIS strongholds in moment of ‘risk and uncertainty’

President Biden on Sunday praised the overthrow of Syrian tyrant Bashar al-Assad while noting the terror links of the rebels now in control — and as the US launched strikes against ISIS-tied strongholds there.

Biden underscored the risks of Syria becoming a haven for ISIS after the collapse of the oppressive regime and vowed, “We will not let that happen.”

CENTCOM confirmed that it had conducted dozens of precision US strikes on more than 75 targets in eastern Syria, hitting ISIS camps, leadership and other assets, after Assad’s fall.

“At long last, the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized and tortured and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians,” Biden, 82, said in his address from the White House.

“The fall of the regime is a fundamental act of justice. It’s a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria to build a better future for their proud country,” the president said.

I mean, yeah, but, we might want to see who replaces Assad. Will it be moderates that can be worked with, or, are they aiming to be an Islamic caliphate? There are quite a few who grew out of the Islamic State and/or Al Qaeda, along with other terrorist groups. Time will tell

Biden outlined several pillars of US policy toward Syria in the meantime, including further collaboration with its neighbors of Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Israel. Biden also vowed to help “reinsure stability in eastern Syria” and “remain vigilant” of the situation.

“We will engage with all Syrian groups, including within the process led by the United Nations, to establish a transition away from the Assad regime toward [a] sovereign and independent … Syria,” Biden vowed.

“This process will be determined by the Syrian people themselves. The United States will do whatever we can to support them, including through humanitarian relief.”

It’s actually good to see Biden take a very cautious tone, as he did mention the terrorist groups involved in the Syria takeover. Hopefully this doesn’t mean boots on the ground and/or lots and lots of money before the end of his term. Because the UN is jumping in

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Sunday the EU would help to rebuild a Syria that safeguards minorities after the dramatic fall of Bashar al-Assad.

“Europe is ready to support safeguarding national unity and rebuilding a Syrian state that protects all minorities,” she said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

What the heck does that even mean? “Protects all minorities”? This is Syria? Who are they? We know the UN doesn’t care about protecting Christians and Jews. It’s not like there are many, if any, Latinos. Any Africans are there fighting with the Islamic extremists. It’s like boiler plate Wokespeak.

Trump Wants The U.S. To Stay Out Of Ground Fighting In Syria

Essentially, the Syrian government of Bashar Assad is about to fall, and, heck, since I’m setting this post up Saturday evening, it may have fallen. And, it would pretty much be replaced by a bunch of Islamic extremists. Is this better or worse than Iranian and Russian backed Assad? Time will tell

Trump says US should stay out of fighting in Syria as opposition forces gain ground

President-elect Donald Trump said Saturday that the U.S. military should stay out of the escalating conflict in Syria as a shock opposition offensive closes in on the capital, declaring in a social media post, “THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT.”

With world leaders watching the rapid rebel advance against Syria’s Russian- and Iranian-backed president, Bashar Assad, President Joe Biden’s national security adviser separately stressed that the Biden administration had no intention of intervening.

“The United States is not going to … militarily dive into the middle of a Syrian civil war,” Jake Sullivan told an audience in California.

He said the U.S. would keep acting as necessary to keep the Islamic State — a violently anti-Western extremist group not known to be involved in the offensive but with sleeper cells in Syria’s deserts — from exploiting openings presented by the fighting.

There are many other Islamic groups involved, not just IS (which rose to prominence from the “JV team” while Biden was Obama’s VP.

Trump’s comments on the dramatic rebel push were his first since Syrian rebels launched their advance late last month. They came while he was in Paris for the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral.

In his post, Trump said Assad did not deserve U.S. support to stay in power.

Why would we support any of them? The only thing we should do is make sure that the war doesn’t spread out from Syria into our ally Israel.

Funny part is, if Trump decided to get involved the Trump Deranged like Kristol would then call for staying out of it because Orange Man Bad.

Climate Doom To Make The Days Longer Or Something

Climate change will soon make Earth’s days longer. Here’s what that means for the planet

Sherman Potter Bull CookiesThe effects of climate change are pervasive, from biodiversity loss to extreme weather events, rising sea levels, wildfires and human mass migration. With each year that passes, we learn more about our impact on the environment – some of which are more surprising than others.

Joining the list is one of the most seismic findings to date: scientists have recently discovered that our greenhouse gas emissions are changing how Earth spins.

The consequence? Earth’s days are getting longer, which could dramatically affect how we keep time in the coming years.

“It’s fascinating that we, as humans, with the record change in the climate we’ve caused over the past 100 years, can impact the whole Earth like that,” says Prof Benedikt Soja, a scientist at ETH Zürich who helped uncover the troubling trend.

“This could be larger than any previously dominant effect on our planet’s rotation.”

Everybody panic!

The study found that from 1900 to 2000, the climate’s effect on the length of Earth’s day hovered between 0.3 and 1.0 milliseconds per century. Since 2000, accelerated melting has increased this rate to 1.3 milliseconds per century. In a worst-case scenario, this could rise to 2.6 milliseconds per century by 2100 if emissions remain unchecked.

See! Doom comes….oh, wait. Worst case is 2.6 milliseconds per century? This is what they are saying is essentially the worse effect of you driving a fossil fueled vehicle, eating meat, and holding on to your liberty?

Earth, like any rotating body, obeys the law of conservation of momentum, which can be briefly explained like this: momentum must be conserved; momentum depends on the moment of inertia and the speed of rotation; if mass moves further from the axis of rotation, the moment of inertia increases.

As such, to maintain momentum as the ice melts, Earth’s rotation slows down, making our days longer.

OK, so, the Earth is slowing down? But, they told us this back in August 2022

The length of day is measured by how fast or slow the Earth is spinning, and data from recent years show that Earth is spinning faster than it ever has, according to scientists who study the Earth’s rotation.

So, Earth was spinning faster? Literally, the cult is blaming melting for spinning fast and slower. So, which is it? And, can they compare it to what happened during previous Holocene warm and cool periods?
