Biden makes a last big push to keep Trump from killing the electric car

President-elect Donald Trump is vowing an all-out assault on President Joe Biden’s efforts to make electric vehicles the new king of the American road.

But an eleventh-hour decision by Biden will make it harder for Trump to kill those EV dreams.

A waiver that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency granted Wednesday morning will allow California to carry out the country’s most ambitious EV mandate, one aimed at banning sales of new cars and light trucks running on gasoline and diesel fuel by 2035. Eleven other Democratic states have also signed on to California’s standard — a combined market force that electric vehicle supporters hope will prod the auto industry to continue pouring money into battery-powered cars, regardless of Trump’s wishes.

Trump has already vowed to undo California’s electric vehicle rules, similar to his effort five years ago to stop the state from imposing car and truck pollution standards more stringent than the federal government’s. But the waiver granted Wednesday has a durable legal foundation that could make it a near-immovable object for the Trump administration for at least a couple of years, experts say. In the meantime, automakers will likely have to make investments in EVs that they could be loath to undo.

But, will automakers continue to manufacture vehicles which are monetary losers? Because they are. There’s only so much they will put up with before saying “no more”. Might they say “to hell with those states, we’ll make the EVs for them, but, they are going to be sold for proper market value. We aren’t losing money on them anymore.” And, how many of those “electric vehicle supporters actually have EVs themselves?

Biden’s late call is also the starting gun for a new conflict that may be a prominent storyline of Trump’s second term: an epic states’ rights battle between the new president and Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has vowed to “future-proof California in every way, shape or form.”

The People’s Republik Of California is welcome to do this. Such is their choice. Might the peasants revolt once this looks to become a reality?

Netanyahu Says No Peace Till Hamas Is Gone

PM Netanyahu: ‘I’m not going to agree to end the war before we remove Hamas’ – WSJ

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he would not “agree to end the war before we remove Hamas” in an interview with Wall Street Journal editorial writer Elliot Kaufman, which was later published in the US newspaper on Friday.

“We’re not going to leave them in power in Gaza, 30 miles from Tel Aviv. It’s not going to happen,” he said amid calls by many to accept a lasting ceasefire-hostage release deal in the Palestinian enclave. The Journal op-ed notes that the Israeli prime minister only envisions such a deal to be a partial one if the Palestinian terrorist organization is still intact.

The Israeli leader told Kaufman that Israel is “winning big” against its opponents with the weakening of Hamas and Hezbollah and the dismantlement of Syria’s Assad regime, the op-ed notes.

Unfortunately, there is always some sort of Islamic extremist group to fill the void. Some extremist leader to whip them into frenzy, and Palestinians have always been quite comfortable being extremists, hence why most Muslim countries do not want to take them in. But, first, destroy Hamas, then worry about what comes next.

Looking towards Israel’s northern border, Netanyahu told Kaufman that before his assassination, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah “was literally taking over the command of the military actions. But the thing that startled me was that I realized he was the axis of the axis, replacing [Qassem] Soleimani.”

He later said that Iran “has no supply line,” saying the Islamic Republic spent billions of dollars on Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas. “We warned Assad not to let Iran supply Hezbollah with weapons through Syria. He played dumb,” he added. “I don’t know if we killed anyone, but we certainly smashed the weaponry of the Syrian army,” he said regarding the Israeli bombing of Syria’s chemical weapons facilities. “We don’t want all the stuff the Syrians amassed falling into the hands of the jihadists.”

That’s another area that should be fun for a few years.

President Who Uses Massive Amounts Of Fossil Fuels Unveils Ambitious Climate Goal For Some Reason

Biden just unveiled America’s ambitious new climate goal. Trump will assuredly undo it

climate cowThe Biden administration just announced an aggressive target for the US to cut its planet-warming pollution over the next decade – a goal that will all but assuredly be reversed by President-elect Donald Trump in his first days in office.

The ambitious new target aims to cut US climate pollution to 61-66% below 2005 levels by 2035, which would have been a challenge even if voters had elected another Democratic president. Trump has said he intends to drill for more oil and gas, shred federal climate regulations and seek to overturn Biden’s clean energy law.

A new target is required every five years by the international Paris Agreement, which Trump has promised to once again pull the US out of. Biden made climate one of the centerpieces of his presidency – by announcing the US target well before its February 2025 due date, the administration is signaling the path America should strive to take against the headwinds of an anti-climate Trump administration.

“We’re confident in America’s ability to rally around this new climate goal, because while the US federal government under President Trump may put climate action on the back burner, the work to contain climate change is going to continue in the United States with commitment and passion and belief,” White House senior adviser John Podesta told reporters. “That’s not wishful thinking. It’s happened before.”

First, Paris was never ratified by the US Senate. It was written in a way to avoid the US Senate. Hence, it is non-binding, so, there is no requirement. And, Trump best pull the US out of it immediately, unlike his last term.

Second, how is this America’s goal? If the majority thought so they’d have voted for Harris. If the Warmists thought so they’d practice what they preach. Instead of acting like Biden and his advisors, who have monster sized carbon footprints. If they want to continue, let them all do it on their own, rather than forcing this on the We The People. The government is there for us, to listen to us, not the other way around.

Los Federales Raid And Arrest Venezuelan Gang Members In The Bronx

Americans before illegalsFederal agents nabbed a migrant Tren de Aragua gang crew holed up in a Bronx apartment — after tracking one of their ankle monitors to the hideout, sources told The Post.

The Dec. 5 raid at an apartment building on the edge of Crotona Park landed seven alleged gangbangers in handcuffs, including a troublesome 28-year-old Venezuelan national who was wearing a court-ordered monitoring device that led the feds to the crew.

“Better late than never,” quipped a law enforcement source who wondered why Jarwin Valero-Calderon was free despite at least three busts, a Nassau County conviction and a federal deportation order.

“This is what actual supervised release looks like?” the source asked. “The thing about ankle monitors is you have to actually monitor them to be effective.”

The raid was nonetheless a significant blow against TdA, the violent gang that snuck into the US with a wave of migrants seeking asylum since 2022 — and gained a foothold in New York.

According to law enforcement sources, most of the gang members busted inside the Bronx apartment were sought on multiple warrants after crossing the US border with Mexico — then disappeared.

No telling how many crimes they committed before crossing the border, which, along with being gang members, should have precluded them from being let into the U.S. on fake asylum claims. And any arrests, Jhonaiker Alexander Gil Cardozo had 4 in 2 states, should have gotten them immediately booted. Anyone here going through the legal naturalization path would have been deported. Heck, Canadian authorities denied entry to one of them.

Yet another migrant gangbanger busted in the raid, 21-year-old Fernandez Franco Greymer De Dios, was being processed for deportation after getting caught at the border in May.

However, the sources said he claimed fear of persecution and was released pending a court date — only to disappear, which resulted in a deportation order in absentia on Nov. 20.

He’s a known gang member: you do not release them, you deport them. They do not get the whole rigamarole.

Aurora official livid after suspected migrant gang members detained in home invasion: ‘I told you so’

Nineteen suspected members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang were detained this week following a violent home invasion that left two Aurora residents hospitalized. The incident has sparked renewed outrage from City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky, who has long warned about rising migrant-related crime in the city.

“This is unfortunately not something you want to be able to say I told you so on, but I told you so,” Jurinsky said during an interview on ‘Fox & Friends’ Wednesday.

“Nobody wanted to listen to me. This very much turned into political theater leading up to the presidential election. Many people have suffered.”

Democrats prefer protecting foreign gang members than Americans.

An essential Christmas dinner item is under threat from global warming

As climate change hits, the future of some of our most basic crops, and a staple of Christmas dinner, is under threat.

With excess temperatures changing the earth and what grows in it, scientists are now developing potatoes that could withstand heatwaves.

A team of researchers carried out field trials at a single location in the US state of Illinois and observed that an adapted plant grew up to 30% more potatoes under heat stress.

This was done by adding two genes to modify a process called photorespiration to improve efficiency, leaving more energy for greater growth.

Good grief. The weather has always played a part in food production. Warm and cool periods happen. During the Little Ice Age there was a huge problem growing wheat and grains for breads and other foods, which was partly responsible for the French Revolution. It’s always some sort of doom with these people.

Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Cannot Retake Territory From Russia

Ukraine lacks might to retake occupied territories, Zelenskyy concedes

Ukraine currently doesn’t have the military strength to retake all the territory Russia has occupied since 2014, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told French daily Le Parisien on Wednesday.

But that doesn’t mean Kyiv is about to recognize its Moscow-controlled lands as belonging to Russia, he added.

“Legally, we cannot give up our territories. This is prohibited by the constitution. But let’s not use such big words. Russia actually controls part of our territory today,” Zelenskyy said in response to a question as to how far Kyiv is prepared to compromise to end the war following Moscow’s February 2022 full-scale invasion.

“If today we don’t have the strength to win back all of our territory, maybe the West will find the strength to put Putin in his place … at the [negotiating] table and diplomatically deal with this war,” he added, while again lamenting that Ukraine would be in a different situation today had the West given Kyiv all it asked for earlier in the war.

Yeah, sorry Vol, the US will not be getting in a shooting war with Russia over Ukraine, especially with how you have all those neo-Nazis, cancelled elections, go after Christian churches, tons of graft, and, really, it’s a shady nation that means little to US security. And, what else did you want us to give you? What weapons would have let you do anything?

On the other hand, Zelenskyy said, Ukraine will never recognize its occupied territories as Russian. “This is not about compromise. This means he [Putin] will get away with everything again. This is impossible.”

Yeah, well, that’s nice, but, unless Biden is interested in starting WWIII with a month left, maybe it’s time to settle before you lose it all.

That said, is Putin willing to deal with Trump to end the conflict? The one that would have never started if Biden hadn’t been so weak?

Putin says Russia is ready to compromise with Trump on Ukraine war

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he was ready to compromise over Ukraine in possible talks with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on ending the war and had no conditions for starting talks with the Ukrainian authorities.

Trump, a self-styled master of brokering agreements and author of the 1987 book “Trump: the Art of the Deal”, has vowed to swiftly end the conflict, but has not yet given any details on how he might achieve that.

“We have always said that we are ready for negotiations and compromises,” Putin said, after saying that Russian forces, advancing across the entire front, were moving towards achieving their primary goals in Ukraine.

“Soon, those Ukrainians who want to fight will run out, in my opinion, soon there will be no one left who wants to fight. We are ready, but the other side needs to be ready for both negotiations and compromises.”

I guess we’ll see. An end to the war will make many upset, especially those in Congress, both D and R, who are making a lot off the war.

Climate Cult Scientists Have Idea To Spread Diamond Dust To Stop Global Boiling

Scientists say sprinkling diamond dust into the sky could offset almost all of climate change so far — but it’ll cost $175 trillion

Sprinkling diamond dust into the atmosphere could offset almost all the warming caused by humans since the industrial revolution and “buy us some time” with climate change, scientists say.

New research indicates that shooting 5.5 million tons (5 million metric tons) of diamond dust into the stratosphere every year could cool the planet by 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius) thanks to the gems’ reflective properties. This extent of cooling would go a long way to limiting global warming that began in the second half of the 19th century and now amounts to about 2.45 F (1.36 C), according to NASA.

In a modeling study published in October, he and colleagues found that diamond particles would cause neither stratospheric warming nor any other notable disruptions. That’s because diamond powder is extremely reflective and doesn’t clump together, which is the reason why some other materials absorb heat instead of sending it back to space.

But the costs and energy demands of these different materials remain unclear. A 2020 study estimated that SAI with sulfur dioxide from 2035 through 2100 would cost $18 billion per year, and the cost for aluminum and calcite is likely to be in the same ballpark, Vattioni said. The bill for diamonds would be much higher, with the 2020 study calculating a total cost over 65 years of $175 trillion.

There are enormous uncertainties around SAI, and scientists are nowhere near implementing it. Some experts are opposed to conducting this type of research at all due to the unforeseen consequences it may have, and because they say it siphons funding away from other climate research.

Gee, ya think? What could possibly go wrong with blocking lots of sunlight?

But “not doing this research would also be to look away from a potential technology that could at least help to mitigate some risks,” Vattioni said.

In other words, give us taxpayer funded money and we’ll research this, especially at climate conferences in nice vacation spots. Overall, this is one of the dumbest ideas from the climate cult “scientists” I’ve heard. For one thing, where’s that money coming from? Who’s paying the $18 billion a year, plus for $175 trillion for the diamonds?

Democrats Are Super Bummed Over Trump Settlement With ABC News

The 1st Amendment technically says that Congress can pass no law on freedom of the press. It doesn’t say anything about them not being immune to being sued for libel and slander

Trump settlement with ABC alarms Democrats

Democratic lawmakers are expressing alarm over ABC News’s decision to pay $15 million to President-elect Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation suit, fearing it’s part of a broader trend of the legacy media capitulating to Trump.

Senate Democrats are lamenting the decline of legacy media outlets that used to wield greater influence over the national political debate, and they worry that major news organizations won’t put as much critical scrutiny on Trump’s second term after he won a resounding victory over Vice President Harris in last month’s election.

In other words, they are mad that the news won’t be able to do their Narrative thing at Trump and Republicans while bolstering Democrats. Have they considered that people have caught on to the shenanigans and that’s one of the reasons that the Credentialed Media is dying and is barely trusted?

ABC News’s settlement, along with an apology for anchor George Stephanopoulos’s mischaracterizing two jury verdicts against Trump, is the latest bombshell shaking Democrats’ confidence that media organizations will stand up against Trump.

“I think there have been a number of really dangerous signals sent to Trump by the media that they are not willing to stand up to him,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), who is seen by some as a possible presidential candidate for his party in 2028.

Why would they stand up to him? Did they consider simply reporting in an honest and straightforward manner? Heck, Trump is more than willing to sit around for an hour or so quite often and take questions, something Biden was mostly unwilling to do. The entire reason the press was mentioned in the 1st was to hold all government accountable. Freedom of Speech would have covered it, right?

“The ABC settlement is the latest. But the decision of Comcast to sell MSNBC, the decision of The Washington Post and other newspapers not to endorse [in the presidential race], the decision of Elon Musk to just fold his entire operation into the White House” are other examples of that trend, Murphy said.

“This is how democracy dies, is the media elites deciding it would be better to go along with the regime rather than tell the truth. The truth is that lawsuit against ABC didn’t have merit,” he said.

Good word: Elites. That’s how they act, especially when so many of the reporters went to cushy highfalutin universities with the children of Those In Power, including in Congress, and many of the older ones went to college with those in Congress. Their job is to report. That’s it. Not be activists.

ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscast coverage of Trump’s Cabinet picks ‘almost uniformly negative,’ study finds

Flagship evening newscasts on ABC, CBS and NBC have been “almost uniformly negative” when covering some of President-elect Donald Trump’s most significant Cabinet appointees, according to a new study from the Media Research Center.

The MRC examined all coverage of Trump’s Cabinet appointees on ABC’s “World News Tonight,” “CBS Evening News” and NBC’s “Nightly News” from December 1-14. The study primarily focused on Trump’s Defense Secretary pick Pete Hegseth, FBI Director selection Kash Patel and Director of National Intelligence nominee Tulsi Gabbard, though it also included the other appointments.

Trump’s nominees earned a combined total of 60 minutes and 47 seconds of coverage during the 2-week period. The conservative media watchdog group found that 96% of the coverage was negative.

And that’s how the Credentialed Media dies: being partisan hacks and not even hiding it in their activities. We The People are not stupid, and do not like being treated as being stupid. So, we go elsewhere for news, and there are plenty of other outlets. Look at the Washington Post: they are hemorrhaging readers, and their stupid paywall doesn’t help. But, their actual paper edition is dying because people do not want to pay for hardcore partisan activist articles.

Democracy won’t die, as Senator Murphy things, because partisan outlets aren’t being listened to and are having to be truthful and not libelous/slanderous, as there are more than enough news outlets out there.
