Bummer: Generation X Not Really Concerned With Globull Warming

Gen X has other things to worry about, like an economy in the toilet, debt, deficits, fiscal instability, job instability, etc

(USA Today) Amid a summer of record-setting heat, most of Generation X ‘s young adults are uninformed and unconcerned about climate change, says a survey today.

Calling them stupid is surely a great way to get them to buy into the Cult Of Gore

About 5% of GenXers, born between 1961 and 1981 and now 32 to 52 years old, are “alarmed” and 18% “concerned” about climate change, reports the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research. Two-thirds, or 66%, of those surveyed last year said they aren’t sure global warming is happening and 10% said they don’t believe it’s occurring.

It could be they’ve grown a brain

“Most Generation Xers are surprisingly disengaged, dismissive or doubtful about whether global climate change is happening and they don’t spend much time worrying about it,” said author Jon D. Miller.

Or, it could be that they understand that the weather is always changing, and do not care to be forced to change their lives and be taxed out the wazoo for the cult like beliefs of Warmists.

Why are Gen Xers so lukewarm? The report, funded by the National Science Foundation, cites climate change’s complexity, pressing economic concerns and “issue fatigue.” It finds educated adults tend to be more concerned about the issue. It also finds partisan differences; nearly half of liberal Democrats were concerned or alarmed compared to zero percent of conservative Republicans.

By educated, I assume they mean indoctrinated as liberals discuss how they can get Everyone Else to be carbon neutral as they yammer on at their cocktail parties, before jumping in their SUVs to head home to their air conditioned homes.

US Shoppers Don’t Particularly Care About “Going Green”

Here’s your chance, Warmists, step up and practice what you preach…..what’s that? That would be too difficult? And expensive? Hey!!!!! We’re trying to heal the planet, ya know!

(WARC via Tom Nelson) Consumers in emerging markets such as India and China are much more “green” than their counterparts in the US and Canada, a study has discovered.

National Geographic, the broadcaster, and GlobeScan, the research group, polled 17,000 people in 17 countries, and found that uptake of eco-friendly behaviour had increased in just five nations since 2010, and had decreased in nine.

….when it came to choosing environmentally responsible options in the areas of food, housing and transportation, as well as upon making purchases…The US, by contrast, only recorded 44.7 points (dead last), behind Canada’s 47.9 points and Japan’s 48.5 points.

Hey, I’m green, I love buying these locally grown plums at the Lowe’s Foods near where I work.

However, there was a substantial gap between the number of interviewees perceiving themselves as being “green”, on 56%, and those which met the criteria required to earn such a status, on 34%.

Shocking! People are …… lying about going green? That’s a sin against Gaia!

When asked to select the words associated with green consumers, the terms “responsible”, “caring”, “healthy” “innovative” and “smart” proved prominent. But more negative words like “weird” “annoying” and “self-obsessed” were also commonly-cited.

What about “utter hypocrites”? Did that make the list?

Could A Simple Mistake Destroy Obamacare?

Also, doesn’t Ezra Klein know that calling the Affordable Care Act “Obamacare” is raaaaacist?

Case Western Reserve University’s Jonathan Adler and Cato Institute’s Michael Cannon argue in a new paper that any federally-established health insurance exchange does not have the authority to dole out health insurance subsidies. Those subsidies are important: They are the $800 billion in tax credits meant to subsidize coverage for low-and middle-income Americans.

How so?

Let’s back up and look at Adler and Cannon’s argument. It starts with the the Affordable Care Act’s defining a health insurance exchange, in scintillating Section 1311, as a “governmental agency or nonprofit entity that is established by a state.”

The last three words are the crucial ones, because they indicate that only states can establish exchanges under that Section 1311. There’s a whole other part of the law, Section 1321, that allows the federal government to set up federal exchanges in states that do not take on the task themselves.

And here we go

This all matters in the all-important Section 1401, where it lays out who can get a federal insurance subsidy. There, the law says that only those who are “enrolled … through an Exchange established by the State under 1311.”

Who would have thought that there could possibly be all sorts of mistakes in a poorly written 2,000+ page document that no one who was voting “Aye” read? Mistakes that could doom how the Exchanges work if States say “we’re not establishing an exchange”?

The way it is written clearly states that if the exchange is established by the feds there can be no subsidies to those who enroll.

GOP Effectively Kills Law Of The Sea Treaty

My question is, why aren’t all GOP Senators against this boondoggle? We know why Democrats love it: it puts quite a bit of American sovereignty in the hands of the United Nations as well as other issues

(Daily Caller) With 34 Republican senators now opposing a United Nations effort to regulate international waters, the Law of the Sea treaty effectively has no way forward in the U.S. Senate.

Republican Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mike Johanns of Nebraska and Johnny Isakson of Georgia joined 30 other GOP members in agreeing to vote against the U.N. treaty.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint helped lead the conservative effort on Capitol Hill to rally senators against the treaty, which has been pushed by chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee John Kerry and notably backed by Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain.

67 votes are needed in order to pass treaties, the 2/3rds requirement. Jim DeMint provides a few reasons why this is bad legislation

Heritage offers much more on why this is a bad treaty. So bad that it has been languishing since it first appeared in 1982. Is anyone really surprised that the extreme far left, led by Obama and Harry Reid, want this treaty passed? Ronald Reagan was so against it that he canned the State Department employees who wrote it. And

The man who tried to renegotiate the treaty was Ambassador James Malone. In 1984, he explained why Reagan considered LOST to be unacceptable: “The treaty’s provisions were intentionally designed to promote a new world order — a form of global collectivism … that seeks ultimately the redistribution of the world’s wealth through a complex system of manipulative central economic planning and bureaucratic coercion.”

That’s what the Democrat Party wants: loss of American sovereignty. The US has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Obama Discusses Vision For Second Term: A Lot Of Spending

No one should be particularly shocked. It’s all he knows, especially since it’s not his money (via Erika Johnsen from Townhall)

Of course, he uses the word “invest” as a euphemism for spending boodles of Someone Else’s cash. Money we don’t have. On projects that have so far failed. He wants “investments” in more failed green energy projects (for campaign contributors), teachers (unions), R&D (probably for embryonic stem cells which still have offered no cures and medicines), transportation (trains to nowhere), and putting construction workers back to work (after they were laid off again from his short term Stimulus projects which weren’t so Ha Ha shovel ready).

Oh, and the debt and deficit? Erika opines

And while he was most verbose about his many ideas for spending more money and increasing the federal government’s role in our lives, the extent of the president’s plan for reducing our debt and deficit amounted to, “Let’s do it in a responsible way.” …Uh huh. Kind of like all of that responsible spending in which you’ve actively engaged, adding more to the deficit in your first three years than President Bush so “unpatriotically” did during his entire two-term tenure?

His definition of “responsible” seems to be the same as a meth addict with George Soros’ stolen credit card.

Jon Lord, Co-founder Of Deep Purple, Dead At 71

Growing up, Deep Purple was one of the first real Heavy Metal groups I ever listened to and bought albums (along with Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath). Reports are that Jon Lord, co-founder and keyboardist, has passed away from pancreatic cancer at age 71.

Deep Purple was truly revolutionary in creating that British metal sound, influencing so many bands with the use of singer, bassist, drums, 1 guitarist, and 1 keyboardist, featuring lots with keyboards, rather than just background. Here’s to you, John: crank it up! (music starts about 1:41)

Obama: “Top Thing I’ve Done Is Stabilize The Economy

First we had the release from the Charlie Rose interview about Obama think his biggest issue was not telling better stories. Now that we’ve been treated to nauseated by the full interview we learn

(National Journal) During an interview with CBS’s Charlie Rose that aired on Monday morning, President Obama said his proudest achievement over the past three and a half years is stabilizing the economy, not his signature health care reform law.

“My proudest achievement is actually stabilizing the economy to avert a great depression, because if I don’t do that nothing else matters,” Obama said. “And the central question becomes building on what we’ve done. Where do we go from here?”

NY Times Admits They’re Poodles For Team Obama

Is anyone surprised in the least by this admission and navel gazing from the Fish Wrap? (Via Michelle Malkin and Jammie Wearing Fools)

The quotations come back redacted, stripped of colorful metaphors, colloquial language and anything even mildly provocative.

They are sent by e-mail from the Obama headquarters in Chicago to reporters who have interviewed campaign officials under one major condition: the press office has veto power over what statements can be quoted and attributed by name.

Most reporters, desperate to pick the brains of the president’s top strategists, grudgingly agree. After the interviews, they review their notes, check their tape recorders and send in the juiciest sound bites for review.

The verdict from the campaign —an operation that prides itself on staying consistently on script —is often no, Barack Obama does not approve this message. …

“We don’t like the practice,” said Dean Baquet, managing editor for news at The New York Times. “We encourage our reporters to push back. Unfortunately this practice is becoming increasingly common, and maybe we have to push back harder.”

As Michelle points out, they won’t push back, they’ll just continue to act as arms for the guy they want elected, sacrificing their principles. It’s no wonder people trust the media not much more than politicians.  It’s a sad state if affairs when a group that was mentioned explicitly in the 1st Amendment so that they could keep tabs on Government are allowing politicians to write their stories.
