Yet another Obama backed company down the tubes
The parent company of a taxpayer-backer battery technology company has filed bankruptcy in a Norwegian court.
Portland-based ReVolt Technology, whose parent company is in Norway, said last month it would file bankruptcy because it had been unable to raise new capital or find a buyer.
The company had been developing a zinc-air battery technology that it said could deliver twice the energy of conventional rechargeable battery technologies, such as lithium-ion.
Along with around $6.8 million in state and local “loans”, they received $5 million from the Stimulus through electric car development program. Now, some, meaning ObamaZombies, may say that $5 million is chump change, and, in terms of government spending, it is. But out here in the real world that’s real money. Oh, and it’s a Germany based company. Oh, and ReVolt was considered a very risky venture to start with. It’s been around since 2004, and never really did anything. And the supposed 150 jobs they would create never materialized.

For the most part, what ObamaCare will do to the economy and people’s lives has so far been an abstract concept. Sure, there are a few tangible effects, such as the 10% tax on tanning bed usage, and a few people with pre-existing conditions purchased health insurance (at enormous cost), but the true costs haven’t come into play as of yet (surely, that was the point behind implementing most of Obamacare in 2014). Now, one business owner is going to turn ObamaCare from conceptual to physical
(UK Daily Mail) President Obama’s election victory ensured his Affordable Care Act would remain the centerpiece of his first term in power – but that has left some business owners baulking at the extra cost Obamcare will bring.
Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny’s and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers’ bills and will reduce his employees’ hours.
With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is ‘the only alternative. I’ve got to pass on the cost to the customer.’
Over at the Huffington Post he explains
“If I leave the prices the same, but say on the menu that there is a 5 percent surcharge for Obamacare, customers have two choices. They can either pay it and tip 15 or 20 percent, or if they really feel so inclined, they can reduce the amount of tip they give to the server, who is the primary beneficiary of Obamacare,” Metz told The Huffington Post. “Although it may sound terrible that I’m doing this, it’s the only alternative. I’ve got to pass the cost on to the consumer.”
Obviously this mean Metz is a mean, heartless man who refuses to work his butt off while giving up most of his profits in order to pay for ObamaCare. Though, we can bet that virtually every liberal who supports ObamaCare and owns a company will refuse to give up their own profits and institute similar measures. We also learn that he’s going to reduce hours (back to the Daily Mail article)
The fast-food business owner is set to hold meetings at his restaurants in December where he will tell employees, ‘that because of Obamacare, we are going to be cutting front-of-the-house employees to under 30 hours, effective immediately.’
Government legislation has real world consequences. Price increases, reduced hours for employees, layoffs, and closings. And all for reduced quality of care and availability of care.

Keeler: The planet’s speaking — and it’s angry
People: This is your planet speaking: Listen up!
That’s what I feel like screaming as I navigate my way through the aftereffects of Sandy and the nor’easter. The impact on my family — a couple of downed trees, five days without power, a second power loss, and a wary eye on the gasoline gauge — has been negligible compared with what others are suffering: homes destroyed, businesses without products to sell or customers able to buy them, elderly people huddled in the dark and cold, raw sewage backing up into the road and down into basements in Baldwin and cascading into Reynolds Channel from Nassau County’s Bay Park treatment plant.
Our planet is a delicately balanced system, a single living organism, and it’s speaking to us now, saying: Enough, already!

…is an ocean that is going to rise up because of capitalist nations, you might just be a Warmist

Regarding the story on the possum drop from yesterday, the Morning Rush radio show here in Raleigh was discussing and soliciting ideas. Of course, I think everyone thought “drop a dead one”. Well, here are a few others:
1. Find someone who has a pet possum, that way they aren’t breaking the ruling regarding wild animals being used.
2. Go with cuteness overload
3. Grumpy Cat never fails to put a smile on someone else’s face
4. Use a baby. They really aren’t contributing to society, why not put one to work?
5. Invite some PETA members to the New Years celebration, get them drunk early, put them in basket, and raise it as a countdown. Leave it up.
What do you think?

To answer the question right up front, no, this is most likely not a serious movement to secede. Certainly not in deep blue states like Brokeifornia (10,036 at time of writing), NY (12,806), and Massachusetts (107), among others. Most of the petitions are carbon copies of all the others. Heck, it took 5 minutes for me to create the Alaska one, and only because I forgot my login password and had to reset it. No, this is mostly people showing that this is still a Democratic Republic, and want the Obama admin to understand that the minority and their opinions matter, that Obama shouldn’t ramrod his agenda down the throats of America
(Daily Caller) Less than a week after a New Orleans suburbanite petitioned the White House to allow Louisiana to secede from the United States, petitions from seven states have collected enough signatures to trigger a promised review from the Obama administration.
By midnight Tuesday, more than 660,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states, according to a Daily Caller analysis of requests lodged with the White House’s “We the People†online petition system.
A petition from Vermont, where talk of secession is a regular feature of political life, was the final entry.
Remember back to 2004 when President Bush won and John Kerry lost, liberals were advocating secession of Blue states, along with referring to Red states as “flyover” states, flying the American flag upside down, and calling the Red states “dumbf*ckistan“.
“Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it. But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government,†according to a statement from the governor’s office.
But, apparently the American Right isn’t allowed to voice their concerns in the “progressive” United States.
A backlash Monday night saw requests filed with the White House to strip citizenship rights from Americans who signed petitions to help states secede. (RELATED: Anti-secession forces fight back with White House deportation petitions)
Progressives (read “fascists”) hate when people other than themselves are accorded First Amendment Rights.
Certainly, some are serious. Others are blowing off steam. Most surely are tired of the massive Central Government trying to dictate everything from the fever swamps of Washington, D.C.
