Obama Squee Interview: Blaming Americans On Guns And Benghazi Sloppiness

David Gregory, sans illegal gun magazine, provided the type of softball interview we all expected. He started off by allowing (NMP) Obama the opportunity to bloviate, lie, stretch the truth, and blame Republicans regarding the fiscal cliff, along with yammer about a balanced approach (which he did not offer, nor would the Democrat controlled Senate allow a vote on). Then we get

(MSNBC) PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know, David, I think anybody who was up in Newtown, who talked to the parents, who talked to the families, understands that, you know, something fundamental in America has to change. And all of us have to do some soul searching, including me as president that we allow a situation in which 20 precious small children are getting gunned down in a classroom. And I’ve been very clear that, you know, an assault rifle ban, you know, banning these high capacity clips, background checks, that there are a set of issues that I have historically supported and one will continue to support.

It was a horrible tragedy, yet, I feel no need for soul searching. It’s not my fault. But, of course what Obama means is finding ways to disarm the law abiding civilians. Even though the assault rifle ban would not have banned the Bushmaster .223 used in the massacre. Connecticut already had one in place.

High capacity magazines? The Newtown shooter, like the Aurora nutjob, had more than plenty of time to change out low capacity mags because there was no one there to take either out, being a gun free zone, at least till the police showed up.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: …so the question is are we going to be able to have a national conversation and move something through Congress. I’d like to get it done in the first year. I will put forward a very specific proposal based on the recommendations that Joe Biden’s task force is putting together as we speak. And so this is not something that I will be putting off. But…

Who wants to bet the proposal will look eerily like Diane Feinstein’s? I wonder if Obama will take credit for it?

Over to Benghazi

Some individuals have been held accountable inside of the State Department (by being given different jobs in State) and what I’ve said is that we are going to fix this to make sure that this does not happen again, because these are folks that I send into the field. We understand that there are dangers involved but, you know, when you read the report and it confirms what we had already seen, you know, based on some of our internal reviews; there was just some sloppiness, not intentional, in terms of how we secure embassies in areas where you essentially don’t have governments that have a lot of capacity to protect those embassies.

Got that? The whole FUBAR that led to 4 Americans, including our Ambassador, being murdered by Islamist jihadis was “just some sloppiness.” Despite screams from Ambassador Stevens and security folks for more security, which were denied. Multiple attacks on our consulate since early in 2012. Credible threats. The Brits pulling out of Benghazi because of the increasing danger and attacks from jihadis, including an assassination attempt on their ambassador. And it being 9/11. Just sloppiness, like spilling milk on the kitchen floor.

Warmist Hopes For Sandy Hook Moment For Hotcoldwetdry

Here’s yet another bat guano crazy Warmist wishing for mayhem and death. Said Warmist is Matthew Bailes, a big shot at an Australian “educational ” institution, who spends much time bashing America, then

The Sandy Hook massacre was so dreadful that it is likely to permanently change the US’s attitude to gun control that will ultimately save thousands of lives.

Climate change is unlikely to be so lucky.

He also equates guns with “climate change” in terms of danger. Obviously the only answer is more fascism.

(BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

The posts do take a long time, so, if you want to send me your links for Rule 5 babeage or links, use ye olde email in the header bar (remove the NOSPAM part). Preferably, create the html link so I can copy and paste how you want it to read.

Will Joe Biden Voluntarily Give Up His Shotguns?

The Fish Wrap Of Record thinks that Sheriff Joe Biden is the super duper most awesome person to be in charge of a people gun control commission

Biden Is Back for a 2nd Run at Gun Limits

Never much known for restraint, Joseph R. Biden Jr. did not hold back during a presidential primary debate in 2007 when a voter asking about gun rights in a recorded video displayed a fearsome-looking semiautomatic rifle and declared, “This is my baby.”

Mr. Biden, then a Delaware senator in a dark-horse bid for the White House, shook his head. “I tell you what, if that’s his baby, he needs help,” he said. “I think he just made an admission against self-interest. I don’t know if he’s mentally qualified to own that gun.”

The candidate’s blunt, dismissive remark cheered one side of America’s long-polarized debate about guns and alienated the other. But it overlooked the salient reality that the rifle-toting voter was able to buy it legally even under a law that theoretically banned assault weapons and was co-written by Mr. Biden.

Nothing better than slurring an American citizen carrying a weapon that was OK under Biden’s legislation

A president intent on pressing Congress to restrict access to high-powered guns could hardly find a more seasoned figure to take charge of the effort. Mr. Biden, who owns two shotguns, brings decades of experience and plenty of scar tissue from past battles with the National Rifle Association to frame recommendations that Mr. Obama wants ready by next month.

Democrats tell us that guns are the root of all evil (well, sometimes it is Bush, Palin, Israel), yet here’s Joe with 2 shotguns. It’s immaterial that Joe wants legislation that would not make the aforementioned shotguns illegal, he should lead the way and give them up. Because it isn’t the person who kills, it’s the gun, and who knows when Joe might snap and pull out that killer gun and go on a rampage? Or even just shoot someone accidentally while cleaning it. Or maybe some kid gets a hold of it. Furthermore, he should make sure all the people on his Secret Service detail do not carry guns of any type. He could then proudly display a “Gun Free Zone” sign on his front lawn. It would be very symbolic for Joe to give them up.

(Former Senator Ted Kaufman of Delaware) acknowledged that actually banning guns was difficult. As soon as one gun is outlawed, another pops up. But he argued that symbolism itself was important. “You send a message,” he said, “when you don’t do anything.”

Boom, symbolism! Give ’em up, Joe!

112th Congress Set To Become Least Productive – I Fail To See The Problem

The Huffington Post’s Amanda Merkel breathlessly reports

As 2012 comes to a close, the 112th Congress is set to go down in American history as the most unproductive session since the 1940s.

According to a Huffington Post review of all the bills that hit President Barack Obama’s desk this session, Obama has signed 219 bills passed by the 112th Congress into law. With less than a week to go in the year, there are currently another 20 bills pending presidential action. In comparison, the last Congress passed 383 bills, while the one before it passed 460.

The 104th Congress (1995-1996) currently holds the ignominious distinction of being the least productive session of Congress, according to the U.S. House Clerk’s Office, which has records going back to 1947. Just 333 bills became law during that two-year period, meaning the 112th Congress needs to send nearly 100 more bills to Obama’s desk in the next few days if it wants to avoid going down in history — an unlikely prospect, considering that both chambers are squarely focused on averting the “fiscal cliff” before the new year.

Personally, I find the notion of Congress doing less a Good Thing. Take out all the renaming of Post Offices and other federal buildings and what you’re left with is typically legislation that restricts freedoms and adversely affects Americans.

Marc Morano Named “Climate Change Misinformer Of The Year”

…by the Soros funded (doesn’t George take lots of unnecessary fossil fueled flights?) Media Matters

Climate Change Misinformer Of The Year: Marc Morano

ClimateDepot.com founder Marc Morano has been called “the Matt Drudge of climate denial,” the “king of the skeptics,” and “a central cell of the climate-denial machine,” and he revels in these descriptions. Although he has no scientific expertise, he is adamant that manmade global warming is a “con job” based on “subprime science.” Morano gained prominence working for two of the most vocal climate deniers in the U.S.: Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), who notoriously called climate change “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people,” and Rush Limbaugh, who we named Climate Change Misinformer of the Year in 2011 for his steadfast denial of climate science and wild conspiracy theories about the climate change “hoax.”

Congratulations, Marc! You know you’re doing great work when the Soros puppets at Media Matters give out a major award.

National Geographic: Hey, Snow And Cold Is Caused By Greenhouse Gases

It’s truly sad that a great organization like the National Geographic allows bat guano crazy blog posts like this one from Warmist Greg Laden

Top Climate Stories of 2012

Except, they’re actually weather, as Tom Nelson notes. After listing weather events like Superstorm Sandy along with geophysical conditions that have occurred off and on for billions of years we get

8 More Greenhouse Gasses than Ever: Even though the rate of emissions of greenhouse gasses slowed down temporarily for some regions of the world, those gasses stay in the air after they are released, so this year greenhouse gas levels reached new record high levels

Just to be clear for the scientifically illiterate liberals, greenhouse gases essentially “trap” heat.

Then Greg blames even more weather events on “climate change”. And……

Many of us who contributed to this list feel that this is potentially the most important of all of the stories, partly because it ties together several other events. Also, it may be that a change in the air currents caused by global warming represents a fundamental yet poorly understood shift in climate patterns. The steering of Hurricane Sandy into the New York and New Jersey metro areas, the extreme killer cold in Eastern Europe and Russia, the “year without a Spring” and the very mild winters, dome of the features of drought, and other effects may be “the new normal” owing to a basic shift in how air currents are set up in a high-CO2 world. This December, as we compile this list, this effect has caused extreme cold in Eastern Europe and Russia as well as floods in the UK and unusually warm conditions in France. As of this writing well over 200 people have died in the Ukraine, Poland and Russia from cold conditions. As an ongoing and developing story we are including it provisionally on this list. Two blog posts from midyear of 2011 and 2012 (this one and this one) cover some of this.

There’s your liberal science: greenhouse gases cause extreme cold and deaths from cold.

Experts: Trained Police Officers Better Than Armed Guards In Schools

And better than squishy liberal teachers who would look at a gun in an emergency situation the same most of us look at a dead and decomposing mouse in the crawlspace. After starting out with a story about how a trained law enforcement officer shot and wounded an attacker at a school in California, we get

(NJ.com) The National Rifle Association’s response to a Connecticut school massacre envisions, in part, having trained, armed volunteers in every school in America. But Agundez, school safety experts and school board members say there’s a huge difference between a trained law enforcement officer who becomes part of the school family — and a guard with a gun.

The NRA’s proposal has sparked a debate across the country as gun control rises once again as a national issue. President Barack Obama promised to present a plan in January to confront gun violence in the aftermath of the killing of 20 Sandy Hook Elementary School students and six teachers in Newtown, Conn.

Agundez said what happened before the shooting in the San Diego County school should frame the debate over the NRA’s proposal.

With a shooting at another county school just weeks before, Agundez had trained the staff in how to lock down the school, assigned evacuation points, instructed teachers to lock doors, close curtains and turn off the lights. He even told them computers should be used where possible to communicate, to lessen the chaos.

That makes sense, especially as it relates to teachers. Do you really want someone running around waving a handgun while panicking? Especially around a lot of people who might be running around and panicking? That’s why DatechGuy’s idea of using retired military and police officers in schools is a great one. They could work with the school, the teachers, the kids, much like Agundez did.

Of course, guards could also be trained to deal with assaults in a similar manner, after receiving proper training. And some teachers, who won’t turn into puddles of goo at the first sign of an attack, could be armed, and the gun would need to stay in the classroom. But, trained personnel would be best, people who stay calm in a crisis. It won’t necessarily stop an assailant who’s hellbent on committing murder before suicide, but, might make them go somewhere else that is free of guns.

“In general teachers don’t want guns in schools period,” said Dennis Van Roekel, president of the National Education Association, one of the two large unions representing teachers. He added that one size does not fit all districts and said the union has supported schools that wanted a trained officer. Most teachers, he said, do not want to be armed themselves.

“It’s a school. It’s not a place where guns should be,” he commented.

Why not? Isn’t the idea to protect kids? Not leave them open to wackjobs like the Newtown shooter? Or would these liberals prefer to stand by their hatred of guns while leaving the kids open to murderous intent?
