Woman Triple Dog Dares Boyfriend To Come Up With Creative Marriage Proposal

Ladies, be careful what you wish for

(The Blaze) When 26-year-old Nir Shamir decided he wanted to propose to his girlfriend Sara Tushinski, he brainstormed how he might surprise her. You see, she recently hinted to him that if he had any surprises up his sleeve, she’d figure them out. Perceptive as she might be, Sara didn’t know what was heading her way.

With the help of some friends who work as security guards in the Jewish settlement of Oranit, Nir engineered an arrest, an interrogation and the accusation of a hit-and-run accident which would have freaked out even the most cool-headed partner.

And it did freak her out, tears were involved, however, she did say yes in the end. Plus, if you’re thinking what I’m thinking, we can expect Nir to pay for this again and again during what is hopefully a long and loving marriage.

Make sure to read the whole story to see just how intricate and involved the plan was, which required asking the Israeli Defense Ministry for permission.

FRC Shooter Used Southern Poverty Law Center Website To Choose Targets

Unsurprisingly most media outlets and lefty websites are ignoring this information

(Washington Examiner) The Family Research Council shooter, who pleaded guilty today to a terrorism charge, picked his target off a “hate map” on the website of the ultra-liberal Southern Poverty Law Center which is upset with the conservative group’s opposition to gay rights.

Floyd Lee Corkins II pleaded guilty to three charges including a charge of committing an act of terrorism related to the August 15, 2012 injuring of FRC’s guard. He told the FBI that he wanted to kill anti-gay targets and went to the law center’s website for ideas.

At a court hearing where his comments to the FBI were revealed, he said that he intended to “kill as many as possible and smear the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in victims’ faces, and kill the guard.” The shooting occurred after an executive with Chick-Fil-A announced his support for traditional marriage, angering same-sex marriage proponents.

This brings up an interesting question: do we put a burden on the SPLC for the shooting? Whenever a supposed conservative is involved in some sort of violence (of course, we usually find out that the supposed conservative is actually on the political left) some group or person on the Left is mostly blamed.

On one hand, the SLPC did not put Corkins up to the actions, and Corkins is apparently bat-guano insane. On the other hand, the SPLC isn’t just opposing people and groups that have different viewpoints on issues: they are intentionally targeting those people and groups and labeling them as “hate groups”, demonizing them, giving crazy people like Corkins the go ahead to get violent. Yet, on the other hand, Corkins is the person responsible for his own action.

What do you think? Does the SLPC play a role in the shooting?

The Other McCain says the SLPC has blood on their hands. Nice Deb wonders if the SLPC should now be branded a hate group. The Lonely Conservative points out that these liberal criminals didn’t seem to want to follow gun laws.

Surprise! Paper Of Record Not Particularly Concerned With Obama Drone Strike Policy

If there’s one major media outlet those on the Left go to for news and opinion, it would be the NY Times. The same NY Times that excoriated Bush for, well, everything he did. In this case, we’re talking about going after Islamist terrorists. We all remember the hysteria regarding Abu Ghraid. The constant drumbeat about waterboarding. Playing scary music at Gitmo. You name the Bush policy, they attacked it. Yet, here we have Obama’s drone strike policy, and they’re not particularly concerned, and at best mildly chide Obama for not being more forthcoming

It actually takes the NY Times Editorial Board four paragraphs before they even mention Obama’s name, then in the 5th

For years, Mr. Obama has stretched executive power to claim that the 2001 Congressional authorization to use military force against Al Qaeda gives him the unilateral authority to order people, including American citizens, killed away from any battlefield without judicial oversight or public accountability. He took a step in the right direction on Wednesday when he directed the Justice Department to give Congressional committees its classified legal advice on targeting Americans.

Anyone else get the feeling that the EdBoard got a tingling up their legs over what Obama directed the DOJ to do?

Officials say they only target belligerents covered by the 2001 legislation, but the public has no way of knowing under what criteria these targets are chosen. Nor does it know, absent publicly stated rules, how the 2001 law would be interpreted by future presidents. The confirmation hearing provides an opportunity for Mr. Brennan to explain his view on whether there is any check on presidential decision-making, especially when American citizens are targeted, and whether targeted killings are creating more militants than they are eliminating.

Mild wrist slap. We all remember how the Left discussed BCTs, Bush Created Terrorists, claiming that because President Bush dared to fight back against the group that attack the United States and killed 3,000 people he was creating more terrorists. Interestingly, the Fish Wrap EdBoard wants to leave it up to Brennan, rather than asking Obama himself.

After that, the biggest thing the Times offers is what they think the rules should be. That’s it. Nothing else. No condemnation for the strikes which can specifically target Americans abroad who have joined a terrorist group.

The only other article featured on the opinion pages is by Juliet Lapidos which points out that if we look back at Obama’s own words we see that his policy is “detain? No. Kill? Yes.”

The Washington Post also goes squishy on Obama’s policy, when they would have assaulted Bush. LA Times? Nothing. And, really, most media outlets and quite a bit of the liberal interest groups, pundits, and bloggers tend to put the program on Brennan’s shoulders, without implicating Obama as The Boss, while the same people would have directly Blamed Bush for the actions of low level military member.

Racially Exclusive Groups At Duke Complain About Racist Party

In all fairness they do have some grounds for complaint

(WRAL) An Asian student group at Duke University has filed a formal complaint with the school after a fraternity hosted a weekend party with a theme that some consider racist.

The party put on Friday by Kappa Sigma originally had an Asian theme, but it was changed to “international relations” after some students complained, according to Larry Moneta, vice president of Student Affairs.

However, pictures posted online show party-goers wearing Asian-style clothing, including a conical straw hat, and a party invite with the salutation, “Herro Nice Duke Peopre.”

Is that racist? More along the lines of bigotry and plain ass-hattery. Some people have less common sense than a dog, and I’m certainly not going to defend the actions of this Kappa Sigma chapter, which really should have known better. But, consider:

The Asian Student Association has the support of several other campus student groups, including the Black Student Alliance, the Center for Race Relations and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

These are all campus groups that are based on “race” to the exclusion of others. Think about the response if someone started a WASP Alliance group: how would that play out?

Sigma Kappa gave a weasely apology, and there will be a demonstration today at 1pm by a group thatvis racially exclusive.

10 Year Old Busted For Bringing Toy Gun To School

He should obviously be branded a terrorist and have the rest of his life ruined

(Washington Examiner) A 10-year-old Alexandria boy was arrested after police said he brought a toy handgun to school on Tuesday, a day after he showed it to others on a school bus.

The boy, a fifth-grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School whose name is not being released, was charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon, police said.

He was also suspended from school, and Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Morton Sherman said further action is being considered, including expulsion.

On Monday, the boy showed the plastic gun to at least one other student during a bus ride home from the school. The 10-year-old did not point it at anyone or threaten to shoot it, but he neglected to mention that the weapon was fake, said Alexandria police spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt.

The toy resembled a semi-automatic handgun, said police spokesman Jody Donaldson. It was silver and had a black handle. It also had a orange tip that went into the barrel, showing that no ammunition was coming out of it.

It’s a toy, most likely designed to shoot tiny rubber pellets. I have one myself based on a Walther P99 (I also have the real thing). The kid is 10. Yeah, he should have really left it at home, much like most kids’ toys should be left at home, but, he’s 10. The school even went as far as to send a letter to all the parents to let them know, I guess, that a tiny terrorist with a fake plastic gun was apprehended.

These people need to get some common sense. Take the toy away, calmly explain to the child that he should leave toys at home, and move on.

In related news, a 7 year old was suspended from school for throwing an imaginary grenade in a game about saving the world.

Heavy Snow In Russia? That’s “Climate Change”

The cult of Climate Astrology is at it again (via The New Nostradamus Of The North)

(Moscow Times) The heaviest snowfall in a century brought Moscow and the surrounding region to a near standstill and left hundreds of people without power, officials said Tuesday.

And with snowfall set to continue at least until the end of the week, the authorities are bracing for more chaos on the roads.

“There hasn’t been such a winter in 100 years,” Pyotr Biryukov, deputy mayor for residential issues, said Tuesday in comments carried by Interfax. “The snow this year has already reached one and a half times the climatic norm,” he said.

They’ve received a massive amount of snow, and it keeps coming and coming. Epic snowfall. So, what do the Warmists at the World Wildlife Federation Russia say?

“The weather we’ve seen in the past couple of days completely fits with the tendency that was identified a couple of years ago, that we are going to to see much stronger, intensive bursts of precipitation in the future,” said Alexei Kokorin, director of the climate and energy program at WWF Russia. “In the summer, we will probably see stronger bursts of rain.”

“In Moscow, that causes problems for transportation,” he said. “But in Central Asia and other places, it means flash flooding and very serious problems for agriculture.”

These people really are bat-guano insane, and anyone who believes this tripe should be treated as such and discouraged from being seen in society and their mental competence questioned. No matter what happens in the world, it “proves” their hypothesis of hotcoldwetdry.

Democrats In Brokeifornia Offer Legislation Requiring Insurance For Gun Owners To Protect The Taxpayer

Seriously. California is one of the brokest big governmental entities in the world, spending taxpayer money taken at the barrel of a jail cell willy nilly, yet…

(The Blaze) Democratic lawmakers proposed legislation Tuesday that would require California gun owners to buy liability insurance to cover damages or injuries caused by their weapons.

Similar bills have been introduced in other states following the Newtown, Conn., school massacre. They include Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York.

“I was moved, like many others, being the father of two young children, by the Sandy Hook incident and looking for constructive ways to manage gun violence here in California as well as the rest of the country,” said Assemblyman Philip Ting of San Francisco, who introduced AB231 along with Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez of Los Angeles. “There’s basically a cost that is born by the taxpayers when accidents occur. … I don’t think that taxpayers should be footing those bills.”

Let’s see: Brokeifornia’s taxpayers are footing the bill for the far left leaning government’s lax policies on illegal immigration, which leads to the jails “hosting” a population that is over 1/3rd illegals, hospitals running in the red and seeing their emergency rooms close, and lots of crime. Their social services programs are over-run, as is the educational system.

Ting equated the idea to requiring vehicle owners to buy auto insurance. Gomez argued it would encourage gun owners to take firearms safety classes and keep their guns locked up to get lower insurance rates.

Getting some gun owners to take safety classes is not a bad idea. Heck, some need to be taught how to fire a gun correctly. How would the insurance carrier know about keeping the guns locked up? Might this be a way to have The Government visit and check out gun owner’s homes?

Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California, said most gun owners already act responsibly and can be sued for damages if they don’t.

He said the proposal is part of an ongoing attempt to “price gun owners out of existence,” particularly the law-abiding poor who live in crime-ridden areas and need protection the most. Criminals would ignore the law, he said.

And that’s the true point of the legislation. While one can actually purchase liability insurance already, we can surely bet that what would come from the government of California would be so expensive that many gun owners couldn’t afford it. And, really, this is legislation that goes after legal gun owners, punishing them for exercising a Constitutional Right, rather than focusing on those who shouldn’t have them.

California Looks To Go After Illegally Owned Guns

….wait, California?

(SFGate) In the divisive debates over gun control, here is something all factions should agree on: Deadly weapons should be taken out of the hands of those who have been deemed a risk because of felony convictions or episodes of domestic violence, mental health conditions or drug addictions.

California is the only state that has the ability to cross-check records of gun registrations against the list of those who are legally forbidden to possess firearms.

State Attorney General Kamala Harris has been making a concerted effort to confiscate guns from those on the banned list, but it’s a monumental task. At a legislative hearing last week, a representative from her Department of Justice said that about 20,000 registered gun owners in the state are ineligible to possess firearms – and that list is growing by about 3,000 a year.

The confiscation of firearms from felons and owners with court-certified issues with anger management, mental illness or addiction poses no danger to the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

See, this is a common sense idea, going after those who aren’t legally entitled to own a gun. Of course, in some cases, someone is restricted simply because they are a felon but aren’t a danger. Consider, Martha Stewart was convicted of 4 felonies, making her ineligible to own a gun. Is she a danger or a threat?

And, this still means that there are quite a few serious criminals running around California who won’t get a gun legally. There are no shortage of gangs in the Golden State. But, this is at least a start which doesn’t attempt to deal with the gun issue with a blanket decree that ends up hurting law abiding citizens who are legally entitled to own a gun.
