The Majority Of Americans Already Consider Obama’s Presidency A SCOAMF

(Washington Post) A majority of Americans and even many Democrats consider President Obama’s tenure to be a “failure,” according to a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News.

The poll shows Americans say 52-42 that Obama has been more of a failure than a success. Among registered voters, the gap is even bigger — at 55-39 — with four in 10 (41 percent) saying they “strongly” believe Obama has been a failure.

Those saying Obama has been a failure include one in four Democrats (25 percent), nearly three in 10 liberals (29 percent) and the vast, vast majority of conservative Republicans (92 percent). Nearly one in five liberals (18 percent) say they feel “strongly” that Obama has been a failure.

Of course, the WP makes sure we know we shouldn’t read too much into the numbers, cause waaaarblegarble and Obama adulation.

School nutrition experts in Nebraska are struggling to comply with new federal snack regulations championed by First Lady Michelle Obama. (snip)

Zipay told KETV.com the new rules not only greatly reduce the available snack options schools can offer to students, they defy the concept of moderation that’s important for students to learn.

“I want kids to feel like they can have an apple one day and a Snicker’s bar the next. And that’s OK,” she said. “You cannot buy a Tic Tac in a Nebraska school, I checked.”

Meanwhile, Michelle and Barack fail to eat the same slop as school kids.

Darn it: Greenhouse gas levels in atmosphere hit new high and temps still refuse to rise

(Yahoo News) Surging levels of carbon dioxide sent greenhouse gases in the atmosphere to a new record in 2013, while oceans, which absorb the emissions, have become more acidic than ever, the UN said on Tuesday.

“We know without any doubt that our climate is changing and our weather is becoming more extreme due to human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels,” said Michel Jarraud, the head of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) that released a report on the issue on Tuesday.

And still Warmists won’t give up fossil fuels usage themselves.

“We are running out of time,” he warned.

We’ve been hearing that for decades.

Concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and nitrous oxide all broke fresh records in 2013, said the report.

Global concentrations of CO2, the main culprit in global warming, soared to 396 parts per million last year, or 142 percent of pre-industrial levels — defined as before 1750.

And yet, by all real world data measurements, there has been no statistically significant warming anywhere between 12 and 26 years. Not happening at surface level, lower atmosphere, sea surface, upper atmosphere, tropics. Until the data is massaged, of course. Warmist computer models are failures.

When It Comes To Obama’s New Climate Rules, Guess Who Wins The Most?

In the wake of the EPA’s clean power plan, a host of lawsuits indicate that the costs and benefits of President Obama’s climate initiatives will not be shared equally

There will be some other winners and losers, such as “clean energy” companies, who’ll repeat the rewards of tax subsidies and loans (before going out of business after hiring a tenth of the workers originally proposed). They’ll be winners. Losers will be companies like coal companies. Oh, and the American people, who will see their cost of living skyrocket. And then

Regardless of the long-term effects of the EPA’s power-sector proposal, it’s increasingly clear who its first beneficiaries will be: lawyers. The EPA already faces a lawsuit filed last month by a dozen heavily coal-reliant states. Murray Energy, the largest privately held coal-mining company in the country, filed suit in March.

As such litigation illustrates, the impact of Obama’s climate initiatives will play out over time, and not for the benefit of “all of the above”. And, as similar lawsuits will undoubtedly work their way across several affected industries, it’s clear that the struggle for climate resilience will, at least to some extent, play out in the courts.

The policies will make it much, much easier to sue. So far, most “climate change” lawsuits are either dropped or lose in court. Now, the lawyers, who are big donors to Democrats and Democrat causes, will be big, big winners. Surprise!

Dems Get Their Wish To Advance Free Speech Limiting Amendment

I mentioned yesterday that I hoped Republicans would vote to allow the motion to proceed, that way we can get to debate to highlight just how much Democrats hate the 1st Amendment, and they did

(The Hill)  The Senate on Monday advanced a constitutional amendment meant to reverse two recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign spending.

Republicans are likely to vote against the amendment when it comes up for a final vote, but by allowing it to proceed, ensured that it will tie up the Senate for most of the week.

More than 20 Republicans joined Democrats in the 79-18 vote advancing the amendment, well over the 60 votes that were needed.

“We should have debate on this important amendment,” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said before voting for cloture. “The majority should be made to answer why they want to silence critics.”

Darned right. Of course, we know how the majority of the leftist media will cover this. Oh, and a cranky, delusional senior citizen continued to be delusional

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he would gladly debate the issue for as long as Republicans require because the amendment is necessary to keep “dark money” out of politics.

“You’re either for campaign spending reform or not,” Reid said ahead of the vote. “This constitutional amendment is what we need to bring sanity back to elections and restore Americans’ confidence in our democracy.”

And remember when billionaire Tom Steyer offered to donate $100 million to Democrats if they held climate change stuff on the Senate floor? He basically bought Harry Reid and Senate Dems.

So if Senators and Congressmen want to make sure they have their jobs for life, they can limit spending on campaigns challenging them to zero dollars. They can also ban books and movies that might influence voters in one direction or another–which is exactly what happened in Citizens United. For example, as the ACLU has pointed out, the proposed amendment would give Congress the power to ban the publication or sale of Hillary Clinton’s Hard Choices if she were running for office.

While the amendment’s policy implications are shrouded in uncertainty, it would mark a significant step away from the nation’s First Amendment tradition that “Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech” and toward a system where incumbent politicians could heavily regulate any speech they deem to “influence elections.”

Of course, this would mean Democrats could restrict their opponents. Republicans would be excoriated if they attempted to actually use the power of this amendment for their own purposes. Not that most would. Nor is the Amendment going anywhere. But, this is what Progressives want. Many say this is just for show, to put Republicans on the defensive, but, just like yesterday, I’ll say Dems really want this to pass, because Progressives are all about bigger and bigger government, putting more and more power in the hands of the central government, and continuously increasing control of citizens, businesses, and every aspect of American life.

(Politico) The legislation needed 60 votes to advance and Democrats took a cynical view of the 79-18 tally. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the GOP’s tactic was simply to “stall” because it would eat up limited floor time that Democrats are eyeing for votes aimed at encouraging gender pay equity and raising the minimum wage.

“They know we’re getting out of here fairly shortly and they want to prevent discussion on other very important issues,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). “I would love to be proven wrong. But if the end of this week, we end up getting 67 votes, you can tell me I was too cynical. “

I’m confused: isn’t the point of a procedural vote to attempt to move it forward so it can be debated? Obviously, this was purely a cynical and highly partisan move, not really serious, and now Harry Reid and his fellow clowns will be hoist on their own petards. The GOP should force debate prior to the election.

Whiny Democrats Attack Tom Tillis For “Mansplaining”

This is pretty much the extent of the Dems defense of Kay Hagan.  What little record she has is pathetic and shows that she’s a dupe of Obama, rather than a representative of NC

(Politico) Thom Tillis, the Republican running for a North Carolina Senate seat that could well decide the majority in the Senate, has been pilloried since a debate last week against Sen. Kay Hagan by Democrats who see him as a condescending “man-splainer” who played into gender stereotypes.

But in his first comments on the controversy, the Republican state House speaker was unrepentant in a sit-down interview on the campaign trail, chalking up the firestorm to Democrats playing gender politics to boost Sen. Kay Hagan. “It’s just silly,” he said during a lunch stop this weekend with supporters over barbecue, fried oysters and chicken livers. “We’re talking about the future of the greatest nation on the earth, and this is what we’re going to?”

The attacks began after Tillis, in a paid advertisement, jabbed at the incumbent, a former bank vice president, saying “Math is lost on Sen. Hagan.” Then, in last week’s debate, in which the Republican appeared better prepared overall, Tillis referred to her as “Kay,” even though she continued to refer to him as “Speaker Tillis.”

“We saw women on social media in particular who were bothered by his tone and more than anything they were bothered by his record,” said Sadie Weiner, spokeswoman for Hagan.

I love how Democrats portray women as hothouse flowers who get the vapors over every perceived slight and Need To Be Protected. Good for Tillis for not falling in to the trap.

Bummer: Fire Season Refuses To Cooperate With Warmist Prognostication

Seriously, nothing is going their way. No statistically significant warming for almost 18 years. Land, sea, and air data (non-modified) refuse to cooperate. Hurricane activity refuses to cooperate. Sea rise refuses to cooperate. The Arctic refuses to be ice free. And now

(Washington Times) This year’s below-average wildfire season comes as welcome news for Westerners, but it’s also burning a hole in the environmentalist narrative on climate change.

Although summer isn’t over, and fires are burning in California and Oregon, it has been a mild year in terms of the number of wildfires and acres burned, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.

The agency reports that 2.77 million acres have burned this year as of Sept. 5, a decline from the 3.9 million acres that had burned by the same date in 2013 and less than half the 10-year average of 6.2 million acres. The number of fires, 38,451, is also down considerably from the 10-year average of 56,278.

Aw, shucks. This is like watching one of those crazy people who constantly proclaim that the world is about to end this year. Then next year. Year after that.

Apparently, Warmists Haven’t Really Been Trying Up To Now

Warmists are promising the largest climate march in history or something

(UK Guardian) Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to take to the streets of New York, London and eight other cities worldwide in a fortnight to pressure world leaders to take action on global warming, in what organisers claim will be the biggest climate march in history.

Think if the “carbon pollution” increase from all these climate activists and “leaders” taking fossil fueled trips. Here’s comes the quote of the day, possibly of the month and year, when it comes to “climate change”

Ricken Patel, executive director of digital campaign group Avaaz, one of the organisers of the People’s Climate March on 21 September, said the demonstration was intended to send a signal to those world leaders, who are expected to include David Cameron and Barack Obama, though not heads of state from China and India.

“We in the movement, activists, have failed up until this point to put up a banner and say if you care about this, now is the time, here is the place, let’s come together, to show politicians the political power that is out there on there. Our goal is to mobilise the largest climate change mobilisation in history and the indications are we’re going to get there,” he told the Guardian.

I’m at a loss for words on that one, it is so deluded that even a facepalm GIF would make no sense of this nonsense, of never having really done anything in the 26+ years (almost half of which has seen no statistically significant warming) they’ve been spreading awareness. Political power? Warmist organizations, public and private, receive gobs of taxpayer money every year. How many professionally made signs will we see?

Anyhow, supposedly 100k people will descend on New York City

“Politicians all over the world cite a lack of public support as a reason not to take bold action against climate change. So on 21 September we will meet this moment with unprecedented public mobilisations in cities around the world, including thousands of people on the streets of London.

“Our goal is simple – to demonstrate the groundswell of demand that exists for ambitious climate action,” they write.

Warmists like to point out that this or that place is tiny, compared to the total Earth, when their predictions backfire. Well, even if a million march around the world, that is just a fraction of the world population, so, according to Warmist doctrine, it is meaningless.
