Just How Toxic Is Obama For The Midterms?

This toxic, via The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis

Things appear to be tightening in Maryland, where a poll leaked to The Daily Caller shows the gubernatorial race is “extremely close — only 2 points, 46 to 44, separate Democratic Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown and Republican small businessman Larry Hogan.”

One should always be cognizant of outliers — and it’s worth noting that this survey was commissioned by theMaryland Republican Party. It’s also true that polls conducted by Gonzales this cycle have tended to show the race tighter than others — but as the Washington Post noted, Gonzales “does not have a partisan track record.”

With those caveats out of the way, let’s assume for a minute this survey is accurate. This would represent a nine point swing from a week ago, when, according to the RealClearPolitics poll average, Hogan was down by 11 points.

And what happened during that time period?

How could this be possible? I mean, what has happened in the last week? For one thing, President Obama — not welcome on the trail in red states — campaigned for Brown in Maryland, where crowds began streaming out during his speech, leaving empty bleachers behind.

Could it be that President Obama is such a drag on Democrats that he even hurts them in … Maryland? That’s one possibility. Another factor: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the head of the Republican Governor’s Association, hasalso been stumping hard for him.

Having Obama on the trail tends to be toxic, even in those deep blue areas he goes to. Because he’s typically avoiding competitive races. Other Big Players are out: Bill Clinton, Hillary, Jimmy Carter, Mitt Romney, Chris Christie (regardless of what Conservatives think of him, he plays well to squishy Republicans, centrists, and Independents)

(Breitbart) “You might be saying at home, ‘it seems everyone is out there,’ but someone is not; why was President Obama at the White House this Monday? Let’s get right to ABC’s chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl.”

“David, the President was home all weekend too,” Karl told Muir. “And today the only time he ventured out was to go to Sasha and Malia’s school for parent-teacher conferences.”

“So what’s going on? Well, the President’s approval rating is at an all-time low, just 40 percent, and in many of the states with the big races, it’s even lower,” Karl explained. “So while the President will be out campaigning for some candidates for governor this week, you won’t see him in a single place with a competitive Senate race.”

Well, let’s be clear on one thing: Obama has never been a big helper for other Democrats, even going back to the 2010 midterms. He’s a miser when it comes to helping out Democrats with campaign cash. Golfing (which he did again over the weekend) and his own campaign events take precedence over getting Democrats elected. That said, for 2014, he is a massive drag on Democrats. I almost think that he would prefer a GOP controlled House and Senate, the better to create more strife and hyper-partisan attacks.

Shocking News: People With Ocare Are Having A Tough Time Finding A Doctor

USA Today has a history of recycling news from the past when it comes to “climate change”, rarely ever with any new information. In this case, they are telling us something we knew almost a year ago, but have added what has been going on for almost a year

Some doctors wary of taking insurance exchange patients

Now that many people finally have health insurance through the Affordable Care Act exchanges, some are running into a new problem: They can’t find a doctor who will take them as patients.

Because these exchange plans often have lower reimbursement rates, some doctors are limiting how many new patients they take with these policies, physician groups and other experts say. (snip)

Shawn Smith of Seymour, Ind., spent about five months trying to find a primary care doctor on the network who would take her with a new, subsidized silver-level ACA insurance plan.

There are lots of problems with the plans, one of which is that the Ocare providers have intentionally limited the available pool of medical practitioners. Then you factor in the low reimbursement rates.

Jon Fougner, a recent Yale Law School graduate, sued Empire Blue Cross this month because he couldn’t find a primary care doctor in his new ACA exchange plan.

Fougner’s experience underscores how important it is for consumers to check out doctor and hospital networks for plans before they purchase them — and to call doctors to make sure they are accepting new patients with their policies.

Among 30 doctors he called, Fougner said, they either weren’t taking new patients, weren’t in the plan or didn’t return calls, or the contact information proved incorrect.

I’m sure there are lots of people who have had good experiences. There are surely lots of have had experiences similar to Smith and Fougner.

Among complaints from doctors about how the whole system is working:

• If consumers have a federally subsidized plan, they get a 90-day grace period before plans are canceled if they don’t pay their premiums. That means doctors have to pursue patients to pay for their services for most of that time as insurance companies refuse to pay the claims.

• Plans sold on the exchanges with the lowest premiums require consumers to pay the most out of pocket. Many of these customers have insurance for the first time and don’t understand how much they have to pay, so doctor’s offices have to spend a great deal of time explaining benefits packages, says Ripley Hollister, a primary care doctor in Colorado Springs.

And when they get done explaining what a deductible is and how it works, the consumer will then realize “holy cow! I don’t have $5081 (the average Ocare deductible for a Bronze plan)  to spend.”

Beginning next year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be certifying that these networks for plans sold on HealthCare.gov are big enough. Under the ACA, consumers who have trouble finding a doctor covered by their exchange plan can file a complaint on HealthCare.gov, CMS says.

If they file a complaint, then what? Will CMS force doctors to take on Ocare patients?

All Those Halloween Pumpkins Are Bad For “Climate Change”

Have I mentioned what Climourette Syndrome is yet? It’s similar to Tourette Syndrome as portrayed on TV, where, instead of blurring out naughty words on a constant basis, Warmists constantly add “climate change” to everything that happens, including real issues. Case in point

(UK Independent) As you scoop out your Halloween pumpkin this week, spare a thought for its contents, a new campaign group is urging, as its founder laments that all too often the squash ends up in the bin rather than on the plate.

Traditionally far bigger in the US than the UK, Halloween has soared in popularity on this side of the pond in recent years, to the point where two in five Britons now buy a pumpkin at this time of the year, according to new figures.

But while US pumpkin buyers enjoy turning their fruit into a tasty dish, their UK counterparts have been far more reluctant to cook the scooped-out insides, with only a third choosing to do so, according to research from the Pumpkin Rescue campaign.

As a result, 18,000 tons of perfectly edible squash is tipped straight into the bin every Halloween – weighing the same as 1,500 double decker buses.

Now, this actually makes a good point about the waste of a food product, using it simply for decoration (I actually stopped using real pumpkins decades ago. Messy, a pain, and wasteful. I have an electric). Unfortunately

UK households throw away more than 7m tonnes of food and drink each year, equating to £60 a month for the average family, Mr Restorick says. Not only does this represent a waste of money, but the food emits harmful greenhouses gases when sent to landfill, which contributes to climate change, he adds.

Climourettes. They just can’t help themselves.

Good Grief: Melting Arctic Doubles Chance Of Harsh European Winter

Five of the last 6 winters have been harsh in Europe, particularly in England. Europe has barely had a spring the last two years. In Warmist World, this is caused by warming from greenhouse gases released because you drove to work this morning, and possibly even got an iced coffee

Arctic Ice Melt Seen Doubling Risk of Harsh Winter in EU

The decline in Arctic sea ice has doubled the chance of severe winters in Europe and Asia in the past decade, according to researchers in Japan.

Sea-ice melt in the Arctic, Barents and Kara seas since 2004 has made more than twice as likely atmospheric circulations that suck cold Arctic air to Europe and Asia, a group of Japanese researchers led by the University of Tokyo’s Masato Mori said in a study published yesterday in Nature Geoscience.

Of course, there has been a tremendous rebound of Arctic ice this year, so, does that mean that it should be warmer during winter?

“This counterintuitive effect of the global warming that led to the sea ice decline in the first place makes some people think that global warming has stopped. It has not,” Colin Summerhayes, emeritus associate of the Scott Polar Research Institute, said in a statement provided by the journal Nature Geoscience, where the study is published.

The findings back up the view of United Nations climate scientists that a warmer average temperature for the world will make storms more severe in some places and change the character of seasons in many others. It also helps debunk the suggestion that slower pace of global warming in the past decade may suggest the issue is less of a problem.

In other words, no matter what happens, it is “climate change” caused by Mankind, and we’re doomed. Warmists will blame everything that happens on “climate change” in order to accord with their cult.

Kay Hagan In Her Own Words

Via Free Beacon, which notes

The ad points out that during her six years in office, Hagan has not written a single bill that became law.

“Voting 92 percent of the time with the president, whether you support him or not, doesn’t work here in North Carolina,” Hagan said in 2008.

By her own measure, Hagan does not work in North Carolina either; she has voted with President Obama 99 percent of the time.

I think the actual number is 96%, but, hey, why quibble? Kay doesn’t work for North Carolina. She doesn’t respond to constituents. Not once have I received a letter, email, Tweet, or phone call returned from her office. She works for Obama/Reid, not North Carolina.

Post-Islamic Terrorist Attacks, CBC Wonders If Islam Is The “Green Religion”

Canada has seen two terrorist attacks in recent weeks. First there was the hit and run by an Islamist on a Canadian soldier. Then there was a the gunman who killed another Canadian solder, of which the Royal Canadian Mounted Police state was driven by ideology. Islamic ideology. Now we get this from the Canadian Broadcasting Company

CBC Ideas: Is Islam the ‘green’ religion?
Scholar Seyyed Hossein Nasr makes the case for Islam’s environmental credentials

Recent headlines from the mainstream media around the world highlight how the words “Muslim” and “Islam” are often mentioned in the context of terrorism.

But according to a world-renowned scholar, there’s another word that should be associated with Islam — environmentalism.

Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, believes Islam is more disposed toward environmental stewardship than other faiths, and should probably be regarded as the “green” religion.

At the same time, he allows that Islamic governments have often put economic progress ahead of the environment, and many Islamic societies expect the West to find some technological solution to the woes of the planet.

Still, as Nasr told CBC Radio One’s IDEAS, “Christianity in the West has had a tremendous problem: how to come to terms with the environment at a time when its most devout followers have not shown much interest in the environment.”

Well, he might have a point: hardcore Islam is constantly looking for a push back to half a millennia ago, and Osama Bin Laden agreed with Al Gore and Barack Obama on “climate change”. Good company for you Warmists, eh?

Nasr has crisscrossed the globe speaking to religious and environmental leaders, trying to build consensus on how to best raise awareness about what he calls a “worldwide crisis” in our handling of the environment.

“We human beings cannot be happy without the happiness of the rest of creation,” he says. “We have killed enough, massacred enough of God’s other creatures.

“God will judge us in the future on whether we are able to live in harmony and peace with the rest of his creation or commit suicide,” he says. “There is no third choice.”

So, he’s using lots of evil fossil fuels to talk about the environment? He’s a perfect Warmist. As for killing, well, his religion is doing quite a bit of that. They kill more of each other over religion than those of other religions.

When You Really Need Something Nutty, Look Towards Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Debbie Delusional-Deflecting had an interesting Sunday. Appearing on CNN’s State Of The Union, she had a wild exchange with RNC Chair Reince Priebus where she consistently refused to answer the question about whether Obama’s policies were on the ballot or not. She kept deflecting, he kept asking her to answer the question. Then we get this (video starts with the exchange about Obama’s policies)

(Daily Caller) Host Candy Crowley played an ad attacking Colorado Republican Senate candidate Cory Gardner as “too extreme for Colorado.” After the clip, Crowley said, “So we’ve heard this in previous elections, too extreme, too extreme their Tea Party, we can’t work with them. So, it seems that the Democrats’ overall message is yes, ISIS is scary. Yes, Ebola is scary but Republicans are a lot scarier.”

The response from Wasserman Schultz was, “Well, that’s right.” (Starts at 4:05 in the video below.)

She then went on to attack Gardner for his stance on abortion.

Start at 3:50 to listen to the ad, then listen to DWS. She’s basically saying what Democrats believe. They really do hate their fellow Americans who hold Republican/Conservative beliefs. They’re also dishonest, insane, and hold abortion up as some holy sacrament. They say Republicans want to take away the right to abort, care little for the rights of the unborn, and that Republicans want to “control women’s reproductive health”. Interestingly, these same Democrats want to put that control in the hands of government.
