We already know many of the problems of Venezuela. The socialism has caused power reliability issues, despite being a major oil producer. They are having food riots, can’t keep toilet paper on the shelves, and no one even produces beer anymore. This is all being run by strong-arm authoritarians, who crack down on the media and any dissent by the citizens. Then there’s this
Dying Infants and No Medicine: Inside Venezuela’s Failing Hospitals
By morning, three newborns were already dead.
The day had begun with the usual hazards: chronic shortages of antibiotics, intravenous solutions, even food. Then a blackout swept over the city, shutting down the respirators in the maternity ward.
Doctors kept ailing infants alive by pumping air into their lungs by hand for hours. By nightfall, four more newborns had died.
“The death of a baby is our daily bread,†said Dr. Osleidy Camejo, a surgeon in the nation’s capital, Caracas, referring to the toll from Venezuela’s collapsing hospitals.
The economic crisis in this country has exploded into a public health emergency, claiming the lives of untold numbers of Venezuelans. It is just part of a larger unraveling here that has become so severe it has prompted President Nicolás Maduro to impose a state of emergency and has raised fears of a government collapse.
The word “socialism” doesn’t appear within the article, but, the NY Times does note
The crisis is aggravated by a political feud between Venezuela’s leftists, who control the presidency, and their rivals in congress. The president’s opponents declared a humanitarian crisis in January, and this month passed a law that would allow Venezuela to accept international aid to prop up the health care system.
So, you have those on the political “right” (they aren’t that right) who want to help the country, and those on the left who reject the help, and want to control. It’s a long, long, long article on the utter failure of left-wing politics.
And many were arrested
(ABC News) At least 57 climate change activists were arrested in conjunction with the so-called “Break Free” protests against the use of fossil fuel.
The bulk of the arrests took place in Washington state this morning, when 52 activists were cited for trespassing on railroad tracks, according to the Skagit County Department of Emergency Management. One person was cited for resisting arrest. The other five arrests took place in Albany on Saturday on similar grounds.
In Washington, approximately 150 people had spent the night camping out on railroad tracks that lead to two refineries, according to a spokesperson for BNSF Railway. The protests were peaceful, according to the spokesperson, and the majority of activists obeyed a request to leave the tracks at 5 a.m. PT today.
The Break Free protests represent part of a “global wave” of action taking place across six continents over 12 days targeting “the world’s most dangerous fossil fuels,” according to a statement published by the organizers earlier this month.
I’ve perused many, many articles on this, and not one reporter asked any of the protesters two simple questions:
Warmists really do not like questions like that. They say they are immaterial, because “we all have to make sacrifices in our lives”, meaning that Government must be empowered to force these changes. It also means that they know they are hypocrites, and unwilling to practice what they preach, so, they need to change the conversation.

How’d they get there? There’s a second tweet at the article noting that California Warmists want an end to fracking, so, it’s not just oil they want eliminated, but natural gas, too, which provides a tremendous amount of power for things like heating and cooking, among others.

That photo (from Erik McGregor/Pacific Press) leads the story. Notice how many things required the use of fossil fuels. The smartphones were shipped either on a fossil fueled plane, truck or boat. The same with all the clothing. Many of those signs are plastics. Petroleum! I see plastic glasses, both frames and lenses. They all look well fed and (relatively) clean, thanks to all those dirty fossil fuels which allowed the creation of a 1st World Nation. Funny how these same people want to deny a modern, clean, well fed life to people in 3rd world crap holes.

What is a Cuckservative? Let’s take a look at Wikipedia
One definition of cuckservative is a conservative who sells out,[10] having bought into all of the key premises of the left,[11] and is enthralled with liberal values.[6] According towhite supremacist Richard B. Spencer, the president of the National Policy Institute which has been designated as a hate group,[12] the term is a shorthand used to express “a certain kind of contempt for mainstream conservatives”.[13] The phrase is similar to “Republican In Name Only” (RINO).[14] Social conservatives who use the term condemn what they see as Republicans running on socially conservative values to appeal to their base during an election cycle, only to use vote trading to compromise on those values while in office.[13] The term cuckold has a long history as an insult implying that a specific man is weak and emasculated, and may even feel pleasure at his own humiliation because ofsexual masochism. The term cuckservative similarly implies that certain male Republicans are humiliated through their actions while feeling thrilled and excited from their own degradation because of the abandonment of their own moral standards.[3][15]
Those in the self-described conservative media targeted by the cuckservative slur along with various moderate and left leaning news sites decried the term as an anti-Christian,[4]racist slur[11][16] and a rallying cry for white supremacists and neoreactionaries.[17] Some observers, such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, say that the term’s usage has been rising among white supremacists in the United States.[3]
So, apparently, it was another term for a RINO, for someone who sells out conservative principles. However, the term itself has been co-opted by the Trump supporters to denigrate those who refuse to jump on board the Trump train. And, apparently, I’m now one of them

Can anyone tell me when Trump has talked about supporting the Constitution? Or re-instituting personal liberty and freedom? Shrinking the size and scope of the federal government? The only time he talks about leaving things in the hands of the States is when it seems as if he just doesn’t want to talk about the issue, so he’s deflecting. If anyone is a “cuckservative”, a term I loathe, it would be Trump supporters, at least those who say they are conservatives. Can’t be Trump, because he has never really had any conservative leanings. At best, some squishy Republican ones. He is most assuredly a RINO. If anyone wants to call John McCain or Lindsay Graham RINOs, well, Trump is way worse.

Someone please explain to me what Trump’s conservative cred is. Explain his Constitutional and personal liberty leanings. I’d love to hear it.

Happy Sunday! Another great day in the Once and Future Nation of America. The sun is shining, tornado activity is down, and summer is almost here. This pinup is by Tatiana Doronina, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me
Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Mother Nature Network’s Catie Leary is utterly vexed by the loss of 5 ancient civilizations that should have watched their carbon pollution output, which led to their destruction
As we grapple with climate change, it’s important to remember that this isn’t the first time climate change has threatened grand, seemingly unstoppable civilizations.
The Ancestral Puebloans, also known as the “Anasazi” by the Navajo, are one of the most famous examples of an ancient civilization that collapsed due to climate change. Once dominant across the Colorado Plateau in places like Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde (pictured), the Ancestral Puebloans abandoned their distinctive homes sometime in the 12th and 13th centuries, and it’s not completely understood why they left. There’s evidence of warfare, human sacrifice and cannibalism, but many scientists speculate that devastating environmental changes caused by climate change are largely to blame.
According to NOAA’s Paleoclimatology branch, the decline in the Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon villages “coincided with a prolonged drought in the San Juan Basin between 1130 and 1180. Lack of rainfall combined with an overtaxed environment may have led to food shortages. Even the clever irrigation methods of the Chacoans could not overcome prolonged drought. Under these pressures Chaco and the outliers may have experienced a slow social disintegration. The people began to drift away.”
There are four others
What do all of these have in common? A Holocene cool period. During the preceding warm periods, these cultures flourished. Warm periods which were actually warmer than today, and they didn’t have anything like air conditioning and other technology. Isn’t it wonderful how members of the Cult of Climastrology attempt to scare us about the current warm period using examples of destruction during cool periods? What they’re counting on is that people are too stupid to know that they were cool periods.
