Washington Post Has A Solution To The Bathroom Wars (Which Will Be Unacceptable To TGs)

Out of the mouths of babes, in this case, D.C. high school student Elishe Wittes, comes a Solution

One bathroom for all: Install gender-free, single-user restrooms

I am a young trans man, and I think I can make common cause with social conservatives on bathrooms.

To be sure, first there’s going to be litigation. There’s going to be a lot of yelling and screaming. Indeed, for the past several months, transgender activists and social conservatives have been engaged in a public spat about which bathrooms those of various gender identities should be allowed to use. But after North Carolina and the Justice Department are done duking it out, there will still be lots of people — including social conservatives and me — who are afraid to use public bathrooms.

I have a solution to this problem: gender-neutral, single-user bathrooms.

We really could have stopped at the headline. Installing single user gender neutral bathrooms would be a good idea in schools and public buildings for those who are gender confused, and, let’s face it, when it comes to kids who think they are the opposite sex of their biological plumbing, they are confused. Regardless, it would be a wise decision.

Ah, but this is an accommodation, a compromise, which is utterly unacceptable to the TG activists, their lawyers, and their interest groups. The do not want a compromise. They DEMAND that everyone be brought into their lifestyles, exposing little girls who are actually female to little boys who one or more parents who should be prosecuted for putting these insane ideas in the little boys’ head that they are actually a little girl.

Nor does this cover having the gender confused in the changing rooms and showers of the opposite biological sex, which the gender confused (and their lawyers and interest groups) demand to use.

Of course, Elishe has to yammer on about being scared. He/she is in fear of going into the bathroom that corresponds to his/her gender belief, and how dangerous it is

To be sure, my fear is justified, while conservative fears of trans people assaulting others in bathrooms are not. Nobody in this entire debate has produced a single documented instance of a trans person initiating any kind of violence or sexual harassment in a bathroom. But fear is not always rational. I take it as a basic principle that, if possible, we should make people comfortable (maybe then they’ll leave us alone). So let’s take conservative fears on this issue seriously.

But, the fear is mostly that predators and people with ill-intent will use these TG requirements to prey on people, mostly women and girls. There is also outrage that boys who crazily think they are girls will be exposing themselves to girls who are actually girls. Furthermore, conservatives are tired of people forcing them to comport to crazy beliefs. They do not take kindly to these in your face campaigns, which include lawsuits, threats, and the hatred and anger emanating from the TG activists and their supporters, simply because Conservatives and others refuse to buy into this mental illness. You want to believe you’re the opposite sex? That’s on you. Stop trying to make everyone else be involved in your lifestyle.

So, to all you state legislators working so busily to keep trans people out of bathrooms, we’ll see you in court. But no matter who wins, remember that we have something in common: both a problem and a solution. Remember as well to add a provision mandating single-user bathrooms the next time you’re writing some discriminatory bill. That, at least, we should be able to agree on.

And boom, there it is, the threat of lawsuits. Let’s say the North Carolina general assembly modifies HB2 a bit, and adds that schools and public buildings must offer a gender neutral single stall bathroom: who wants to bet that the accommodation, the compromise, will be rejected by the vast majority of the gender confused (and their lawyers and interest groups)?

  1. Dana says:

The left ought to applaud this solution: it’s another gigantic stimulus program, as millions of public restrooms will have to be completely remodeled, and architecture changed.

The author describes herself as a “young trans man,” which means that she is actually a girl. Does she go into the locker room at the local gym and strip down to change? If she has had surgery, it’s still going to be obvious that she’s not male, because even the best plastic surgeons are not that good, and if she hasn’t had surgery, that’s going to be pretty obvious, too.

  2. Jeffery says:

With all due respect, Mr. Teach is Gender Ignorant, or as Stumpy would call him, GI Teach.

those who are gender confused, and, let’s face it, when it comes to kids who think they are the opposite sex of their biological plumbing, they are confused.

You haven’t the faintest notion about what you’re opining. We understand that your reading tolerance is 140 characters, but some notions just take more time and energy than can be expressed in 140 keystrokes. Please read either of the 2 Nature essays I linked (140 letters at a time, take a break, come back to it) and learn just a little before you smear these kids.

    Go and slur no more!

parents who should be prosecuted for putting these insane ideas in the little boys’ head that they are actually a little girl.

Now you want to use the power of the State to prosecute the parents of transgender kids!

You’re the sick one, not these kids.

Why do you hate them so? Self-loathing?

  5. Jeffery says:

conservatives are tired of people forcing them to comport to crazy beliefs.

This is the money shot – and the true motive behind conservative angst.

How much more should the poor American conservative have to tolerate!?! Miscegenation, gay marriage, separation of church and state, and now this – all at the end of the barrel of the hated gubmint’s guns!

All the American conservative wants is to be king again. Remember when the negroes, and women, and fags, and jews and foreigners knew their place (and we made sure they knew their place, didn’t we?)? Back in the days when Caucasian, Christian and Conservative meant something! Back when it was our country. “I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten…

  6. Hoagie says:

“Gender ignorant”? Are you some kind of idiot? There are two sexes, Jeffery. Not ten. Not twenty. Two. If you are a boy and think you’re a girl you have a psychological problem and need help, just as much is if you think you’re a Beagle. They don’t need a special rest room they need the help of psychiatrist and with time and love they may be made well again.

But you may be correct about prosecuting the parents of kids who are being abused and told they’re “transgendered”. The kids should be removed from those abusive parents and placed in a home that will actually help them rather than feed their psychosis.

Oh, Jeffery, one can’t be “transgendered”. If you’re born a male and go through surgery, take hormones and dress-up like mommy you still have male DNA and male chromosomes and therefore are still a male. A delusional, mentally unhinged male, but a male nonetheless.

    The recommended guidelines:

to not exclude, separate, deny benefits to, or otherwise treat differently on the basis of sex any person in its educational programs or activities unless expressly authorized to do so under Title IX or its implementing regulations.

Schools may have single-user bathrooms, but may not force transgender students to use it. All other students may also use the single-user restroom.

  8. Jeffery says:

    Hoggie,

Oh, Hoggie, one can certainly be transgendered.

What are your criteria for determining if a baby boy or baby girl is born? Is it chromosomes as you suggest? If so, you are wrong.

No one else seems to want to discuss the topic. Let me know if you’d like to discuss chromosomes.

Have you read any of the research of the past decade? I’ve supplied links to medical discussions about sex development, but no one else seems to want to discuss the topic. Everyone seems to want to brutalize children and take them away from their loving and caring parents. Many of these little children that you and Teach and others are too ignorant and mean spirited to address correctly likely have actual medical conditions.

Please read this and I would appreciate your comments:

Sex can be much more complicated than it at first seems. According to the simple scenario, the presence or absence of a Y chromosome is what counts: with it, you are male, and without it, you are female. But doctors have long known that some people straddle the boundary — their sex chromosomes say one thing, but their gonads (ovaries or testes) or sexual anatomy say another. Parents of children with these kinds of conditions — known as intersex conditions, or differences or disorders of sex development (DSDs) — often face difficult decisions about whether to bring up their child as a boy or a girl. Some researchers now say that as many as 1 person in 100 has some form of DSD.

When genetics is taken into consideration, the boundary between the sexes becomes even blurrier. Scientists have identified many of the genes involved in the main forms of DSD, and have uncovered variations in these genes that have subtle effects on a person’s anatomical or physiological sex. What’s more, new technologies in DNA sequencing and cell biology are revealing that almost everyone is, to varying degrees, a patchwork of genetically distinct cells, some with a sex that might not match that of the rest of their body. Some studies even suggest that the sex of each cell drives its behaviour, through a complicated network of molecular interactions.

This is from Nature, which is the most widely respected general science journal in existence. It is scientific discussion (not a basic science paper) on sex development. Below links to the article.

Since modern science clearly shows you to be wrong, will you change your outrageous and damaging position?

    http://www.nature.com/news/sex-redefined-1.16943

You can take Mr. Dana’s approach and force your child into psychotherapy to force them to “believe” what some drunk country doctor and the State of Tennessee decided 8 years ago and keep brutalizing your child until she takes her life or leaves you never to speak to you again, or you can be a loving and caring parent.

We agree, if someone like you, Teach or Dana had children, the State should take them from you for the betterment of humankind.

We get it. The world is changing around you and many of the core beliefs, the dogma, of conservatives is threatened by evidence – this is, and always has been the danger of belief systems based on myths instead of evidence. The Earth is billions of years old, not thousands. Plants and animals and lifeforms that are neither quite plant nor animal have evolved over a billion years to yield today’s biosphere. Dark-skinned humans are not dumber than light skinned humans. HIV causes AIDS. Vaccinations don’t cause autism. Some men and some women are born preferring to mate with individuals of their own sex. The world is warming, and we’re causing it. Their are no angels, no demons, no gods, no miracles and no magic. We get it. You’re used to having things your own way, being in charge, and it’s hard to give up. We don’t blame you. The real world is a scary place.

-the little guy who exaggerates often and wonders why no one wants to discuss anything with him

Ever wonder why that is, little guy?
Could it be you’re a dick and you insult anyone who disagrees with you?

  10. david7134 says:

    jeff,
Links to Nature and similar articles are not scientific. They are fluff articles that have zero peer review character. You have so much money, why don’t you subscribe to real scientific articles? Now, you have no knowledge of transgender subjects, you don’t have a proper education or degree to list you as an authority in anything except grant writing.

Wait, you’re the guy who thinks that people with male plumbing are girls if they say that they’re girls, and you’re calling someone else ignorant?

Except in the very few cases of birth defects, a person’s sex is an objective, not subjective determination.

  12. Zachriel says:

david7134: Links to Nature and similar articles are not scientific. They are fluff articles that have zero peer review character.

While the link is to a news article, the article itself includes citations to peer-reviewed scientific research.

  13. david7134 says:

    zachriel,
I have never seen a satisfactory list of references from Nature or Cosmo or any of the other magazine articles you and jeff read.

  14. Jeffery says:

    dave,

So all the research on sex development is flawed, not to be believed and therefore unworthy of discussion?

    That’s convenient.

  15. Hoagie says:

There’s nothing I can say Jeffery. You win. I just have neither the time nor the inclination to go about completely tearing you a new one with scientific and psychology reports and research. If you can’t tell a male from a female there is nothing I can say or do to help you. I pity you. Perhaps some day you will come to understand your sexuality. Good luck.

  16. Jeffery says:

    dave,

What do you consider the 6 most reliable, peer reviewed journals?

  17. Jeffery says:

    Hoagie,

How about you making a single argument?

  18. Not-Confused says:

Take gender out of the equation. One bathroom for people with penises and one for people with vaginas. End of argument.

Women with penises for in the penis bathroom. Men with vaginas go into the vagina bathroom.

  19. Zachriel says:

david7134: I have never seen a satisfactory list of references from Nature

Peer-reviewed citations were provided in the article, including references to the American Journal of Medical Genetics, Cell, Human Reproduction, Nature, and Sexual Development. This is substantially more credible than simply waving your hands and saying you don’t see the citations.

Not-Confused: One bathroom for people with penises and one for people with vaginas.

    The signs should be interesting.

So this person should share a bathroom with your wife or daughter?

  20. david7134 says:

    zachriel,
It is beyond clear that you have no idea of a truly scientific article. Could you give some background on yourself, job, age. Your statements really put you as a young guy with no experience and not in a profession.

  21. david7134 says:

    jeff,
When you are writing your grant applications to rob us of our money for your corporation, do you actually use scientific articles and understand their meaning?

  22. Zachriel says:

david7134: It is beyond clear that you have no idea of a truly scientific article.

Instead of waving your hands, why not explain what you think constitutes a Trueâ„¢ scientific article, or why you think the citations provided, including to the most premier scientific journals, constitute what you called “zero peer review character”.

  23. Jeffery says:

    jeff,

When you are writing your grant applications to rob us of our money for your corporation, do you actually use scientific articles and understand their meaning?

Yes. Although currently my company is funded by founders (me) and venture investors risking our own money. NCI MAY sponsor future clinical trials. But back to the topic…

If you had an argument to make we suspect you at least would have tried by now. Your desperate attempts to smear others rather than discuss the articles tells us all we need to know about your motives.

I have read, written, and reviewed scientific articles and do my best to understand their meanings. Granted, my most recent peer reviewed article was published all the way back in 2015, in one of AACR’s journals.

Pick the most egregious statement in the cited articles on sex development and we can discuss – otherwise you look a fool – or like a crank who submits nonsense/opinion manuscripts to prestigious journals and is rejected. “All Clinical Research on Statins is Bogus!!” Even letters to the editors of good journals are reviewed. Bummer, dave.

Or… Can you tell us where the peer-reviewed literature has gone woefully wrong in this area?

  24. david7134 says:

So you go for the bull on statins, figures. It says something about your own research. As to looking the fool, I can’t do that with you liberals around. But, in the end, you are the big mouth going around funding your company and education with taxpayer money.

  25. Jeffery says:

    dave,

    As always, you’re a liar.

    When’s your next klavern?

  26. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
Tell us about how much money we the tax payers put up for your education and business. I had to work the oil field to put myself through college and had to work like hell to get my business going. But you filled out some paper work and we paid your way. Then you complain about the fact we don’t care for the government in our lives.

  27. Jeffery says:

    dave,

Good for you. You’ve changed your life story. At one time you were a doctor bilking the taxpayer out of over $1 million a year off Medicaid and Medicare patients, that you describe as lazy and stupid.

I worked my way through college and had an athletic scholarship. I cofounded, with 4 others, a successful company using my own time and money.

Anyway, if you have no interest in discussing sex development, why are wasting our time?

You’re a nasty, insecure, angry stalker. And a liar. Always a liar.

  28. drowningpuppies says:

You’re a nasty, insecure, angry stalker. And a liar. Always a liar.

-the little guy who exaggerates often being a nasty, angry, insecure little dick

Accept it. Embrace it. That’s who you are.

  29. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
Sorry, but you dropped the bomb thinking that no one on the comment board would understand what NIH grants actually mean. You turn out to be a taker and you did not build a thing, just as your president said. Yet you have a holier than thou attitude to those of us that want to rein in our out of control government. That is the concern with the restrooms and everything else that we have been discussing. So, own bud.
