Unsurprisingly, Warmists Link Oroville Dam To Hotcoldwetdry

Now that the permanent drought in California is over (and, of course, the rain and floods are being blamed on ‘climate change’, the same way they blamed the drought), the Cult of Climastrology has to continue the drumbeat of Scary Stories. The Oroville Dam is having a wee bit of an issue

(Fox News) At least 188,000 people were asked to evacuate their homes in Northern California Sunday after authorities warned an emergency spillway in the country’s tallest dam was in danger of failing and unleashing uncontrolled flood waters on towns below.

Lake Oroville, about 150 miles northeast of San Francisco, is one of the state’s largest man-made lakes, and the 770-foot-tall Oroville Dam is the tallest in the U.S.

So, of course, we get

Say, Can SNL Take Down Trump Or Something?

This is seriously where liberals are going with their Trump Derangement Syndrome. Looking at a show which is supposed to be sketch comedy, but is essentially serving as a political venue for one political leaning. A show which pretty much refused to even lightly make fun of Mr. Obama and his people for eight years. Now, though, we get, in the opinion section of CNN

Can SNL topple the Trump administration?

Saturday Night Live is clearly no longer content to just comically fillet Donald Trump. As we saw again in this Saturday night’s episode, they are increasingly going after key members of his staff. And if recent media reports are accurate, this seems to be rattling Trump and causing dissension within his administration.

Whatever happened to “let’s just be original and funny?”

The show opened with Melissa McCarthy reprising her hilarious role from last week as Spicer. This time Spicer tried to remain in control but as time went on he lost it. Soon Spicer was hawking goods for Ivanka Trump’s clothing line, which Nordstrom pulled this week for poor sales. And Spicer even comically commented on the racist underpinnings of Trump’s “extreme vetting” plan by using a white Barbie doll who easily walks by TSA security agents before a brown skinned “Moana” doll is immediately subjected to a pat down.

Is this the best they have? Sneering nastiness? Which then moved on to the same against Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Even during the early years, SNL tended to laugh with Presidents and their people, not take nasty shots. They made good natured fun of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter. Gerald Ford liked Chevy Chase’s playing of him so much that Chase was included in several Ford appearances.

Then they ran another skit, this one blasting Kelleyann Conway

Moments later when Tapper arrives at his apartment, he’s confronted — in a loose parody of the classic film “Fatal Attraction” — by an angry lingerie-clad Conway played by McKinnon. She declares she’s “not going to be ignored” by Tapper or any in the media because, “I just want to be part of the news.”

Just imagine that being run against a liberal: it would be deemed sexist and misogynistic. It would be said to be negative against all women for the portrayal of a powerful women in lingerie. There would be protests outside the SNL studios demanding resignations.

Of course, the Weekend Update portion was focused heavily on Trump and his team. Because comedy or something. And, just to continue the originality, they had Alec Baldwin once again running his Trump schtick. At one point, SNL used to be known for it’s originality. The Coneheads. John Belushi’s samurai schtick. Land shark. Emily Litella. I’m Gumby, damnit! Bill Murray’s lounge singer. Classic bits.

So in a time when polls show many Americans distrust the mainstream media, it may just take SNL and comedians to be the voices of reason. Here’s hoping that week after week SNL helps make America laugh again at Trump — and his administration.

So, just another long political skit that proves it’s partisanship. Preaching the to choir won’t take down Trump, any more than the constant worship of John Oliver will. It all begs the question: why can’t comedy just be comedy? It goes along the same route as “can’t we just watch sports to escape from the daily grind?” Some for award shows, movies, TV shows. Can’t we just get away from highly partisan politics for a change?

Immigration Raids Yield Over 600, Creating Fear In Illegal Aliens

What, exactly, is making illegal aliens fearful? The majority of people caught up in the sweeps were targeted because they are felons. People who have done very wrong. People who should have been deported the minute they were let out of jail. So, if most illegal aliens are just “good people,” why be concerned?

(NY Times) Federal immigration officials arrested more than 600 people across at least 11 states last week, detaining 40 people in the New York City area, law enforcement officials said on Sunday.

It remained unclear whether the actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were part of continuing operations to round up illegal immigrants with criminal convictions or a ramping-up of deportations by the Trump administration.

President Trump proclaimed on Twitter early Sunday morning: “The crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed!”

But Gillian Christensen, acting press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, said, “The focus of these targeted enforcement operations is consistent with the routine, targeted arrests carried out by ICE’s Fugitive Operations Teams on a daily basis.”

The contradiction heightened an already swelling fear among immigrants and their advocates.

Notice that the initial focus of the article is on Trump, not the good news that hundreds of people unlawfully present in the United States with criminal records were rounded up. And, if wasn’t for a few small quotes, there wouldn’t even be a mention of most of the people being criminals, with crimes like rape and assault, and worse.

And this is making people who are unlawfully present in the US fearful

(Chicago Tribune) Pastor Fred Morris looked out over his congregation Sunday as news ricocheted around the world that American authorities were rounding up immigrants in an enforcement surge that President Donald Trump promised on the campaign trail.

Parishioners did not smile as on any other Sunday morning. They stared down at their feet. Others didn’t attend at all.

“There is a dreadful sense of fear. It’s more than palpable. It’s radiating. People are terrified,” said Morris, whose United Methodist mission is in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood of Los Angeles. “They were just sitting there in stunned silence.”

For days, fear and confusion have gripped immigrant communities after word spread that federal agents were rounding up hundreds of immigrants in cities across the country. The scope of the operation remained unclear on Sunday.

And well they should be, if they are, even at a minimum, here in the U.S. illegally. This meme is repeated in article after article after article. And it is causing liberals to howl. Even though the vast majority are, again, serious criminals, liberals have found it in themselves to support them. Why? Ask them. They won’t answer.

But, hey, CNN’s Joey Jackson says we need a new reality check

But while these raids are not new in and of themselves, advocates and others watching these raids unfold are right to worry whether this President is casting a wider net and expanding the objective in ICE enforcement beyond national security. Of the 160 illegal immigrants arrested during the Trump raids, the vast majority had felony convictions and merited deportation. To be sure, the federal government has a solemn obligation to secure the borders and to protect the public. But there are questions as to the other arrests. The concern from a justice perspective, then, is not the enforcement effort itself. The executive branch enforces the law, and any President is entitled to do so in the manner he deems most effective in keeping with his philosophy. Instead, the concern lies in whether enforcement will be over broad and unduly aggressive.

It’s all right there: an obligation to secure the borders and protect the public. There is no “but”. There is no “unduly aggressive” when it comes to arresting and deporting those who are unlawfully present. Unduly aggressive is giving a ticket to kids running a lemonade stand and requiring them to get a permit, or shutting them down. Unduly aggressive is suspending a child who bit a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun. If you’re concerned with arresting criminals, perhaps you should reevaluate your personal philosophy.

It’s one thing to be tough on immigration. It’s yet another to be fair. Those watching closely are right to be worried about current trends, but should take comfort in knowing that immigration courts will serve as a check upon any overreach by ICE in conducting these raids and carrying out the President’s enforcement initiatives. But we should really reality-check ourselves, too, and ask whether a country like the United States, which sets the standard for the world in human rights, can’t provide a better example to the world.

Why don’t we ask the citizens who had their lives ruined due to identity theft from illegals. Who have seen their wages stagnate partly due to illegal aliens? Who have been harmed by illegals? Who have seen emergency rooms shut because illegals use them too much? Who drain resources away from citizens? What of the human rights of those who are citizens? Should they not come first?

Bummer: Immigration Raids Have Illegal Aliens Living In Fear

Does anyone remember this type of headline while Obama was in office, and federal authorities were raiding workplaces and homes to snatch up illegal aliens? Not from the Credentialed Media. It shows the bias in the media, however, this is actually a good thing with illegals being fearful, as CNN attempts to paint a sob story

After ICE arrests, fear spreads among undocumented immigrants

Across the United States, some unauthorized immigrants are keeping their children home from school. Others have suspended after-school visits to the public library. They have given up coffee shop trips and weekend restaurant dinners with family.

Some don’t answer knocks on their doors. They’re taping bedsheets over windows and staying off social media. Nervous parents and their children constantly exchange text messages and phone calls.

From New York to Los Angeles, a series of immigration arrests this week have unleashed waves of fear and uncertainty across immigrant communities.

Where’s the downside? People who’ve broken the law should be fearful of law enforcement coming by and picking them up, then sending them back to their originating countries. Because they are unlawfully present. And using up valuable resources that would be best reserved for legal citizens.

The fear started to set in after President Donald Trump’s inauguration last month, according to advocates. It heightened after Thursday’s deportation of an undocumented Arizona mother of two who was making a routine visit with immigration officials. And Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents this week carried out numerous actions in California, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Texas and other states.

The more illegals are concerned with being here illegally, the more will leave voluntarily, and, more importantly, the fewer will come to the United States illegally and/or overstay their visas.

ICE said Friday that about 160 foreign nationals were arrested during the week.

Of those, 150 had criminal histories, and of the remaining arrests, five had final orders of removal or were previously deported.

It actually gets better than that

So, what CNN, illegal alien supporting Democrats, and the illegals themselves are freaking out over are raids that caught up illegal alien child molesters and other convicted felons. Is this whom they really want to throw their support? Of course.

Thirty seven had already been deported to Mexico by Saturday. That’s a great thing, much like how quick Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was deported. And the way it should be. If you’re found in the country illegally, you should be deported within days.

We can talk of building a wall, but, the best deterrent is to create an atmosphere where most will not come to the U.S. illegally in the first place, nor overstay their visas. If they’re concerned that they will be picked up and deported quickly, if they know that work will be almost impossible to find, if they know they will not receive schooling and a public safety net, that they cannot obtain driver’s licenses, nor purchase a car, not rent a place to live, they won’t stick around.

If they really want to be here, let them do it the legal way. Learn English, show you want to be here. Until then, Trump should continue to create an atmosphere of fear of deportation, unlike the atmosphere of “sure, come on in!” we saw during the Obama era. The more the media stokes the fire of fear, the better.

Yearly Reminder That ‘Climate Change’ Will Ruin Valentine’s Day

The Cult of Climastrology just can’t help linking their insanity to everything

Roses are red, chocolate is sweet – and climate change puts them in the hot seat

We’ve been seeing them all over the stores for a while already — lots of chocolates and roses. These are the classics gifts given to friends and loved ones on this holiday.

But have you ever stopped to think where the millions of roses grow?

Most are grown in greenhouses. Why is this all doom-worthy?

Ninety percent of these loads come through Miami International Airport. A plane can hold 3,000 boxes of roses, or about 300,000 roses, are worth $1 million!

From the airplane, they have to be moved quickly to keep them at the right temperature. Within minutes, they are placed in a 40-degree warehouse. After a rigorous inspection by federal agents, off they go to the retailers.

One hundred million roses are grown for Valentine’s Day for the U.S., and that produces about 9,000 metric tons of CO2.

The chocolate part isn’t much better, with prognostications that if people don’t give up their liberty to government and accept higher taxes and costs of living things don’t change, by 2050 the land used to grow chocolate will shrink. You know, because the climate had always been exactly the same for billions of years before fossil fueled vehicles.

GOP Introduces Bill Which Would Gut Parts Of EPA

I’m personally against doing away with the Environmental Protection Agency. When the Environmental Protection Act was first passed, it was a worthy piece of legislation, which bound the nation together to do what we can to clean the air, land, and water. The created agency was not dictatorial, and worked hard to protect the environment.

Since then, though, like so many other government agencies, it saw massive mission creep, moved to be a hard left activist group pushing progressive (nice fascist) goals, and grew to be a giant, unaccountable bureaucracy.

(The Hill) A House Republican is sponsoring legislation to do away with large portions of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including environmental justice and greenhouse gas programs.

Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas) introduced the Wasteful EPA Programs Elimination Act on Thursday, saying it would save $7.5 billion annually. That would leave the agency with a budget of less than $1 billion.

Major EPA climate change programs would be eliminated under the measure.

The legislation would also close all of the EPA’s regional offices, halt new regulations on ground-level ozone pollution and require the agency to lease unused property.

Rolling back the power of the EPA without doing away with the agency is a good thing (and would be great for most federal agencies). They assume power, often based on the shadiest of rationales as provided by legislation (legislation needs to also be less open ended, which gives federal agencies the ability to do power grabs and create rules and regulations out of almost thin air).

The legislation would keep a goodly chunk of the EPA’s power intact, but erase the mission creep. The EPA should act more like FEMA, where they direct state and local agencies to deal with the situations.
