Illegal Aliens Plan Big Protest Today Or Something

They’re going to prove they’re vital by refusing to go to work (illegally) and shopping and stuff

(Reuters) Activists are calling on immigrants to protest President Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration by staying home from work or school on Thursday, not shopping and not eating out, in an effort to highlight the vital role they play in U.S. society.

“A Day Without Immigrants,” which has been largely driven by word of mouth on social media, arose in response to Trump’s vows to crack down on illegal immigration and his executive order, since suspended by a federal judge, to temporarily block entry to people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The action follows a series of federal raids last week in which more than 680 people illegally in the country were arrested, raising alarm among immigrant rights’ groups.

“Mr. President, without us and without our contribution this country is paralyzed,” read a poster promoting the protest that was widely shared online.

Let’s remember who was arrested, as they’re going Moonbat Level 10 with their solidarity

Of the 161 people arrested in L.A. and surrounding counties last week, 151 had been convicted of a crime. More than a quarter of those arrested — 42 people — had been convicted of domestic abuse, while an equal number had either drug or assault convictions, according to the statistics released Monday. Seventeen people had been convicted of a sex crime.

That was just the LA area. The pattern of sweeping up those with felony convictions, including sex crimes against children, was repeated across the country in the sweep. They’re having a snit fit over an illegal who was detained while in court filing a domestic abuse charge, but, see, there’s an issue

The criminal complaint states that on Feb. 2, Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Security Taskforce agents received information that Irvin Gonzalez, who also is known as Ervin Gonzalez, was in the U.S. despite having been previously deported. The information received stated that Gonzalez was staying at the Center Against Sexual and Family Violence.

The complaint, filed Feb. 9, indicates that Gonzalez, whom Bernal identified as transgender, had been deported six times since 2010 — apparently after arrests for crimes including possession of stolen mail, false imprisonment and assault.

So, yet another example of one of those super awesome illegals that we just can’t do without. And, in Seattle, one of Obama’s Dreamers was busted

Lawyers for 23-year-old Daniel Ramirez Medina say he was asleep in a suburban Seattle house last week morning when immigration agents showed up to arrest his father, who authorities described as a previously deported felon.

Despite Ramirez’s participation in a federal program to protect those brought to the U.S. illegally as children, the agents took him away as well – thrusting Ramirez into a national debate over the immigration priorities of President Donald Trump.

Federal officials insisted Ramirez admitted he is a gang member. His lawyers adamantly deny that, saying he has no criminal record and is the father of a 3-year-old son who is an American citizen.

Back to the initial Reuters article, they note that many businesses and restaurants, including in the D.C. area, are being super supportive of the protest. Sounds like they support hiring illegal aliens over US citizens, and should probably get a visit from federal authorities in a workplace raid to determine immigration status, which would be followed by criminal and civil penalties against the businesses.

Really, these people need to think twice about the illegals they are supporting with their protests. How does it play in Middle America when they see legal and illegal immigrants supporting illegals with felony convictions, including for sexual assault on a child?

Horror! Trump Blows Off Tradition, Refuses To Fill Out March Madness Bracket!

How dare he!

(Washington Post) It appears that President Trump is passing on March Madness. He will not continue his predecessor’s annual tradition of filling out an NCAA tournament bracket on ESPN.

The network reached out to Trump’s staff and invited the president to fill out a bracket on-camera, just as President Barack Obama had the past several years. The network recently received word that Trump has passed. An ESPN spokesman said in a statement: “We expressed our interest to the White House in continuing the presidential bracket. They have respectfully declined.” (snip)

A spokesman told The Post in December that ESPN would extend an invite Trump to continue the tradition, but Andy Katz, the ESPN basketball analyst who conceived the idea and walked Obama through the bracket explained at the time that “the bracket idea worked because President Obama follows basketball and is passionate about the sport.

“He wasn’t as dialed in to every player or team but had conversational knowledge to offer his own analysis on the NCAA tournament for the men’s and women’s game. Baracketology was a success because it was clear he was a fan of the sport and the NCAA tournament, like millions of other Americans,” Katz said.

OMG, he’s not tuned into basketball and doesn’t want to hang out at ESPN to discuss it and fill out a bracket, just like millions of other Americans! This is super important, guys!

(USA Today) And that’s fine — if President Trump doesn’t feel that he has the kind of knowledge required to pick an NCAA bracket, it makes sense not to do it.

Trump doesn’t have knowledge! He can’t do a bracket! Impeach! Impeach!

I mean, seriously, folks, it’s a basketball bracket. The media is using this to take snotty, childish shots at Trump. To go with the constant bashing Trump Derangement Syndrome on everything else. The only thing missing is painting Trump skipping the whole celebrity president thing and not doing a bracket is calling it racist.

My guess would be that weather has always happened, and the climate has always changed. Silly me

After five years of record-setting drought, much of California is being pummeled by an extremely wet winter. The disaster unfolding at Oroville, where precipitation is more than double the average, is the latest reminder that the United States needs a climate-smart upgrade of our water management systems.

So, the permanent drought talking point was the predictive equivalent of horsesh*t?

In the West, much of our water infrastructure is old. Oroville Dam, north of Sacramento, was completed in 1968, nearly a half a century ago. Other major components of our water system are generations older, and maintenance has not been a priority. The damage to Oroville Dam, where the primary spillway developed a giant gash and the emergency spillway threatened to erode, illustrates the hazard of relying on aging infrastructure to protect us from extreme weather.

But age and upkeep are not the only problems. Our water system was designed and built in an old climate, one in which extremely warm years were less common and snowpack was more reliable. Here in the West, we use the same dams and reservoirs for both water storage and flood control, so during the wet season, reservoir managers continuously balance the dual pressures of storing as much water as possible for the dry summer and releasing sufficient water to create room for the next storm.

This was a 3 captain, and I could even read beyond that last paragraph, as my eyes hurt so much from rolling them.

‘Climate Change’ Movement Should Take A Page From Gay Marriage Playbook Or Something

How Gay Marriage Suggests A Strategy For Climate Change

The iPhone shows how rapidly society can change if it wants to, a California energy commissioner said last week, and gay marriage shows that change can happen in public policy too.

Climate policy could be next, said David Hochschild, the environmental commissioner on the California Energy Commission and an architect of Proposition B, San Francisco’s successful $100 million solar initiative.

No one was forced to purchase an iPhone by The Government, though some people were forced to comply with gay marriage or risk being run out of business, harassed, and fined.

“There was gay marriage nowhere until 2004, then we saw that state by state by state by state it got adopted, and now of course it’s in all 50 states. Over a very short period of time. You go back 12, 13 years and you ask how many people think gay marriage is universal and I think most people would assert, it’s not going to happen,” Hochschild said during a Stanford University seminar last week.

“I think there’s actually some lessons for the climate movement in what happened with marriage equality, because they framed the movement in terms of love: Government has no place to get between two people who love each other,” he said. “I actually think climate change is the same thing. It’s about loving the next generation, and I think that is a good way to think about it.”

See? It’s about about loving, forcing people by Government decree to accept gay marriage, and the same should be done with ‘climate change’. So, for love, people should be forced to

  • pay taxes, fines, and fees
  • accept higher energy costs
  • accept a higher cost of living
  • have their movements restricted through various policies on fossil fueled vehicles
  • purchase higher priced appliances because government will no long allow the old ones to be fixed
  • give up lots of freedom and liberty to centralized government

Government!

The iPhone is his model for change potential: “It’s gone from basically not existing to being ubiquitous in a decade,” he said. And he thinks cigarettes model the country’s addiction to fossil fuels. The smoking rate has fallen from about 50 percent in 1965 to 15 percent today, he said, in spite of early and expensive efforts by the tobacco industry to foster doubt about the science.

Again, the first is a voluntary purchase for something that people want, and see the positive benefits. The latter is something that government forced on people. Sure, smoking is bad for you. So is drinking. Interestingly, so many of the strikes against the tobacco industry was because of their lies, shoddy science, and false advertising. Sounds exactly like the state of climate science.

Remember, it’s all about the love!

NC Governor Cooper Floats Silly New HB2 Repeal Plan

Why, yes, they are still at it. It could have been done months ago, except Rory Cooper, now North Carolina governor, worked pre-election to make sure that all Democrats voted against any repeal of HB2

(WTVD) North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper floated a new proposal for the repeal of House Bill 2 on Tuesday.

“February needs to be the month that we get this done or it may be too late,” said Governor Cooper.

HB2 requires people to use the restroom according to their biological sex listed on their birth certificate in government buildings, schools, and universities. The law also excludes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from anti-discrimination protections and blocks municipalities from adopting their own anti-discrimination and living wage rules.

Forgotten is the primary point of the legislation, namely that government cannot force private businesses and entities to change their bathrooms and showers and locker rooms and such to accommodate the gender confused. It was in direct response to the passage of a law in Charlotte by Democrats that did just that, and Charlotte had been warned to not do it. HB2 allows private businesses/entities to decide for themselves.

Cooper offered a three-part compromise.

1) Repeal HB2
2) Increase punishments for offenders who threaten safety or privacy in public restrooms or changing rooms
3) Mandate that local governments allow 30 days for public and General Assembly input before passing any anti-discrimination ordinances

Of course, as WRAL reports, Cooper pulled an Obama, announcing he wants this done by forgetting to discuss it with the leaders of the NC General Assembly first. It’s like a typical Obama “so let it be written, so let it be done” move.

And one point of HB2 was that it didn’t penalize transgenders for using the bathrooms and such of the sex they identify with. HB2 was not about penalizing the gender confused: it was about telling NC government of all levels what they cannot do.

In a statement released later Tuesday, Senate Leader Phil Berger’s (R-Rockingham) office said Cooper’s news conference was the first they’d heard of the new proposal.

“…Given that Gov. Cooper’s refusal to enforce existing criminal trespass laws as attorney general was a major reason legislators were forced to pass HB2 in the first place, it is difficult to take seriously his pledge on ‘strengthening penalties.’ This proposal does nothing to address the basic privacy concerns of women and young girls who do not feel comfortable using the bathroom, undressing and showering in the presence of men…” Berger’s spokesperson Amy Auth wrote in part.

And Lt. Governor Dan Forest, a Republican, released a statement

Heterosexual men will be able to access women’s showers and bathrooms by simply posing as a transgender individual. They will be able to watch women and children shower, or shower next to them. As long as the man doesn’t touch them, assault them or film them, no legal protection would be afforded the offended woman or child. Nothing. As a husband and father of four, the concept of ‘Look But Don’t Touch’ as a meaningful response to HB2 is a sad commentary on how far the progressive movement and the elected officials beholden to it, will risk the safety of our people to achieve a radical social policy agenda.”

Cooper wants to put all the power in the hands of the municipalities, which is how this started in the first place.

In my mind, the best compromise would be to repeal all sections except those telling NC government that it cannot force the private sector to accommodate the gender confused and telling government that people need to use the bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms that accord with their biological sex, while continuing to have no penalties on the individual gender confused who use them, beyond already existing law.

Cooper’s “deal” will simply allow local government to enact laws which require compliance and higher costs to private entities, all to accommodate a tiny, tiny, tiny number of people who are gender confused, and will violate the privacy, at a minimum, of citizens, especially women and girls, who would prefer not having men in their bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms. And then this would lead to requirements that boys who think they’re girls on girls sports and competition teams, as we’ve seen in other states.

Seriously, though, this is what Cooper and the Democrats are concerned with: forcing men into the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers of girls. But, then, previous governor Pat McCrory and the Republican General Assembly did leave Cooper with a state in pretty darned good shape.

IRS Says They Won’t Really Enforce The Obamacare Mandate

Did you maintain appropriate insurance coverage in 2016? Perhaps you switched jobs, and, being that most companies require you be on the job for 90 days before you are allowed to be on their insurance plan, meaning you were probably out of insurance for 91 days, meaning you are ripe to be slapped with a fine/tax/fee by the IRS. Perhaps you lost your job and were out of insurance for over 90 days, and could be hit with the mandate. Not anymore

(Hit and Run) How much difference does a single line on a tax form make? For Obamacare’s individual mandate, the answer might be quite a lot.

Following President Donald Trump’s executive order instructing agencies to provide relief from the health law, the Internal Revenue Service appears to be taking a more lax approach to the coverage requirement. (snip)

The health law’s individual mandate requires everyone to either maintain qualifying health coverage or pay a tax penalty, known as a “shared responsibility payment.” The IRS was set to require filers to indicate whether they had maintained coverage in 2016 or paid the penalty by filling out line 61 on their form 1040s. Alternatively, they could claim exemption from the mandate by filing a form 8965.

For most filers, filling out line 61 would be mandatory. The IRS would not accept 1040s unless the coverage box was checked, or the shared responsibility payment noted, or the exemption form included. Otherwise they would be labeled “silent returns” and rejected.

Instead, however, filling out that line will be optional.

Earlier this month, the IRS quietly altered its rules to allow the submission of 1040s with nothing on line 61. The IRS says it still maintains the option to follow up with those who elect not to indicate their coverage status, although it’s not clear what circumstances might trigger a follow up.

I suspect that as this news starts making its way through to the citizens, many will choose to refuse to check the box even if they did have qualifying health insurance in 2016, much like so many chose “American” on the last census form instead of their race. One question is whether electronic 1040s will allow someone to skip over line 61, as they would usually require all lines to be completed. Perhaps the tax software companies will make changes? Later in the article we see that many are making changes.

The IRS notes that taxpayers are still required to pay the mandate penalty, if applicable. “Legislative provisions of the ACA law are still in force until changed by the Congress, and taxpayers remain required to follow the law and pay what they may owe‎,” the agency statement said.

Ellis says the new policy doesn’t fully rise to the level of declining to enforce the law. “If the IRS turns a blind eye to people’s status, that isn’t quite not enforcing it,” he says. “It’s more like the IRS wanting to maintain plausible deniability.”

Essentially, monkey don’t see, monkey don’t penalize.

Patterico, posting at Red State, has hesitations about this method, and has some valid points and makes a good case, particularly about weakening the law making it easier for the GOP to not repeal and replace. Perhaps so, but, that’s politics. For many, paying the fine/tax/fee is a bread and butter issue, and they’ll like this.

Humans Are Making ‘Climate Change’ Accelerate 170 Times More Than Nature Or Something

We’re Accelerating Climate Change 170 Times Faster Than Nature, Says a New Study
Natural elements are “negligible” compared to human influence.

There are people who deny climate change altogether. Then there are people who claim that, yes, climate change exists, but humans are barely affecting it, because it would happen anyway.

Yeah, all of the aforementioned people are wrong, according to a brand new equation developed by scientists.

The Australian National University announced on Sunday that, according to recent research, humans are causing the climate to change a whopping 170 times faster than it would naturally. According to the researchers, evidence shows that greenhouse gas emission caused by humans over the past 45 years has affected temperatures at a rate that “dwarf[s] the natural background rate.”

Said Will Steffen, a climate change expert and ANU professor, in a statement:

“Over the past 7,000 years the primary forces driving change have been astronomical — changes in solar intensity and subtle changes in orbital parameters, along with a few volcanoes. They have driven a rate of change of 0.01 degrees Celsius per century.”

By comparison, humans have increased the rate of temperature rise to 1.7 degree Celsius per century.

Right off the bat, we see shoddy science. There have been multiple cooling and warming periods throughout the last 7,000 years. Furthermore, we’re only talking about a 1C or less increase in supposed global temperatures since 1850. that’s sure a lot less then 1.7 per century, is it not?

What they’re attempting to do here is wipe away all the previous warm and cool periods in the Holocene, making it seem as everything was hunky dory right up to the time period they want, which seems to be the last 45 years. Which, interestingly, would including a period of slight cooling and a long term Pause, where the warming has shown to be either statistically insignificant or zero, depending on the data.

Why would we think that people who have a vested interest, monetarily and otherwise, in perpetuating their cause would ever stop?

Sick and tired of roses and chocolates this Valentine’s Day? Eve Ensler and the One Billion Rising campaign have an alternative V-Day event that might strike your fancy.

Come Feb. 14, One Billion Rising will opt less for cards and candy and more for awareness of the violence endured by women and girls. As it has done every year since 2012, the organization ― which takes its name from a stark statistic claiming one in three women around the world will be beaten or raped during their lifetime* ― will host a series of “risings” in over 200 countries that advocate for the victims of such violence and rail against the impunity that persists in its wake.

Well, that’s a good start. No mention of all the rape that occurs on college campuses run by Liberals or in the Democratic Party run big cities. Of course, it’s going to devolve into a hotbed of far leftism

In New York City, however, the V-Day rising will be unique. Dubbed “Artistic Uprising ― A Call For Revolutionary Love,” the event is not only aimed at shining a light on the women and girls at risk of violence, but also on “refugees, immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQI people, black people, the indigenous, the poor” ― individuals who find themselves under threat in America’s present political climate.

Interesting. Women are treated like, well, utter shit in so many Muslim areas and Muslims (obviously, not all). We’ve seen the rape epidemics in Europe from all the “refugees”. Will there be a discussion of this?

“Activists will RISE against the neo-fascist, racist patriarchy taking hold in governments throughout the world, against bigotry, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, anti-immigration, nativism, white nationalism, climate change denial, imperialist and capitalist aggressions, misogyny and hate,” One Billion Rising wrote in a press release for the NY-specific rally. “From Standing Rock to financial deregulation to the ‘Muslim Ban,’ activists will demand the new regime’s agenda be dismantled.”

I ran across this typical piece of progressive Rage Against Everything (except, of course, Muslims treating women like shit) while looking for ‘climate change’ news. And the rage continues in paragraph after paragraph.

The funny part is that these nutters, who had a legitimate point about sexual assault before going down Wackadoodle Road, fail to understand that their whole politics are based on Progressive ideology, which has its roots in early 20th Century fascism. It’s all about central government dominance.

“We’re seeing an assault on women [here],” Ensler told HuffPost. “This administration has not only escalated [rape culture] but has really normalized it,” she added. “So we are rising for immigrants. We are rising for African-Americans. We are rising for LGBTQIA. We are rising for women. We are rising for everyone in this country who is under siege, which is just about everyone except for white men for as far as I can tell.”

Um, what? Trump has escalated rape culture? Really? How so? These people are deranged. And this is why people tune out. You take a legitimate issue and crank up the crazy from a tropical depression to a category 5 hurricane.
