SJW Doug Glanville Has Meltdown Over Mean Comments Towards Female ESPN Analyst

Doug Glanville, who was a heck of a baseball player, and a pretty good play by play guy now, has an Outrage (of course, like most SJWs, he’s never said a word about the sexism that’s part of Islam)

Who Gets To Call The Game?

(First 2 paragraphs about him going on a tear over the positioning of a player and Wrigley Park and stuff, due to his knowledge of the game)

Jessica Mendoza, the ESPN baseball analyst, does not have the advantage of being able to start any sentence with, “When I played for the Chicago Cubs.” True, she is an Olympic gold and silver medalist in softball; a trusted insider, according to colleagues, M.L.B. players and staff; and a diligent, inquisitive and passionate commentator.

She is also — even though some data suggests that 45 percent of baseball fans are women — ESPN’s first and only female M.L.B. analyst. Today, the vast majority of color commentators are either former Major League Baseball players or had direct major-league experience.

Which kinda makes sense, does it not? People watching and listening want the Voice Of Authority, and having a former player yammering on tends to lend credibility, which is why you see so many former athletes calling games and being on sports shows. Interestingly, the vast majority on ESPN are, get this, men. Therefore, ESPN must be sexist.

Still, Mendoza’s standing brings out the underbelly of sports fans’ taste for sexism. It goes beyond casual disagreements about her opinion or jabs because she picked one team over another, and gets at the core of her existence. These comments, mainly from social media, tell her she has no business even being there:

Here are the five cited

  • “She doesn’t belong in the booth with men discussing a game she knows nothing about. It’s like watching a game with a girlfriend.”
  • “So glad we have Jessica Mendoza to commentate. Her years of playing a completely different sport totally makes her qualified.”
  • “Jessica Mendoza is that annoying sister your mom makes you bring everywhere.”
  • “I just changed the channel to ESPN2 so I could stop listening to Jessica Mendoza. BTW I don’t understand Spanish.”
  • “I hate hearing men commentating softball, and I hate hearing women commentating baseball.”

Only the first and last are pretty much sexism. But, really, people are sexist. Racist. Bigoted. Jerks. Welcome to Life On Earth. But, if that’s the worst Glanville can find, it’s really not much. And some people are just not going to like the person in the broadcast booth. I bet you can think of a few you can’t stand. I cannot stand the guys who do the Boston Bruins TV home games, nor the Montreal Canadians. Big time homers. Nor Trip Tracy for the Carolina Hurricanes. I can just barely tolerate the Hurricanes radio announcer, Chuck Kaiton, because he mispronounces the names of players beyond belief.

Mendoza, like most, has to earn it. Not because she’s a woman, but because she’s rather new to the broadcast booth. Tony Romo, in the same manner, has to earn it, especially since he’s replacing one of the best in Phil Simms. Romo has a big uphill battle on his hands. I’ve never heard Mendoza, because ESPN seems to like to mostly broadcast Yankees and Redsox games, rather than Dodgers games. She may be good, she may not.

Does someone have to be a former player? Who was the best in the business? That’s right, Vin Scully, who never played professionally.

You know who else is great? Sherry Ross, who had been calling NJ Devils’ radio games before being let go (bad move, IMO). She didn’t play the game, either.

Really, though, the whole Glanville screed is about people being not allowed to have certain thoughts, and pushing the ESPN SJW agenda. If Mendoza is good, she’ll be recognized. And some people will still not like her, just like some do not like (insert name of broadcaster here). I hate every SF Giants and NY Rangers broadcaster regardless of sex because of who they work for. I don’t care if they’re good and knowledgeable. Makes no difference. They work for Evil teams.

Oh, and, it sure seems like Doug is attempting to protect Mendoza in a sexist, paternalistic manner, does it not?

A Sharknado Is More Likely Due To ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

This is not a repeat from the release of the last terrible horrible no good Sharknado (#4) movie, in which the people involved yammered on about climate change and how the movie relates to it. This is a new level of insanity

(NY Post) Climate change bites!

A “Sharkicane” — a terrifying twist on the meteorological havoc wrought in the cult flick “Sharknado” — is more likely than ever to strike Earth, the movie’s creator jawed to The Post.

“Sharknado 5: Global Swarming” takes a campy dive into what might happen if climate change spiraled out of control — and features a raging hurricane-tornado that sucks up massive man-eaters and spits them out onto Rome, London and Amsterdam.

But as the planet heats up, wild weather patterns really do increase the chance of a fishy storm of biblical proportions, according to “Sharknado” originator Thunder Levin.

“We know that powerful enough tornadoes and hurricanes can lift large objects, including sharks if they’re passing over water,” said Levin, who wrote the screenplay for the original “Sharknado,” which aired on the Syfy channel to great finfare in 2013.

“As global warming gets worse, it adds more energy to the atmospheric system,” he said. “So it’s perfectly logical: A more powerful weather phenomenon makes [a Sharkicane] more likely.”

Interestingly, tropical storm systems and tornadoes numbers have gone down over the years.

One expert agreed it’s a whale of a problem — that could increase the chances of end-of-days-style hurricanes.

“It’s a scientific fact that we are living in a warmer world. And it will continue to increase and accelerate as more carbon enters the atmosphere,” said Bill Patzert, a climatologist at the California Institute of Technology.

If a scientist is yammering on about “carbon” rather than the scientifically proper term “carbon dioxide”, they’re talking politics as laid out in the Cult of Climastrology handbook, not science.

This whole thing is just stupid. And then the Cultists wonder why people are tuning out despite all the propaganda push.

Illegal Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Two Women Had Immigration Detainer Lodged And Ignorned

One of the refrains we hear from those who support illegal aliens is that they are fine with the “good ones” but not the criminal ones. In practice, though, the supporters and sanctuary jurisdictions look to protect all illegals. Like this upstanding one

(Oregon Live) Federal immigration agents lodged a detainer in December 2016 against the man accused of attacking two women in Northeast Portland this week, officials said.

When Sergio Jose Martinez was held in the Multnomah County Jail on Dec. 7, 2016, U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requested local authorities notify the agency prior to releasing him, spokeswoman Virginia Kice said in a statement to The Oregonian/OregonLive on Friday.

Martinez has been deported 20 times, according to Multnomah County court documents. He has a lengthy criminal record that includes several convictions in Oregon and burglary convictions in other states, according to court documents and the immigration agency.

Local authorities released Martinez on Dec. 8, 2016 without notifying immigration authorities, Kice said.

Oregon law prohibits public agencies from spending money, using equipment or enlisting personnel to enforce federal immigration law.

Martinez would qualify as one of the “bad ones”, wouldn’t you think? In this case, ICE was not even asking for a hold, just a heads up for when he would be released so they could come get him. Is it really so burdensome to place a call or send an email?

Martinez is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her Northeast Portland home on Monday morning, then stealing her credit cards and car. Police say he attacked another woman in a parking garage later that day.

He is charged with several crimes including first-degree robbery, sex abuse and robbery and second-degree assault.

These crimes are on the heads of Sheriff Mike Reese and the people who passed the Oregon law. Do they require that personnel, money, and equipment cannot be used to enforce other federal laws, such as kidnapping? No. If interim ICE Director Thomas Homan wants to look to charge people for violations of immigration law, here’s a good place to start. There are many statutes broken, and many parts of the statutes, such as in 8 US 1324, that were broken by the jail and the lawmakers who passed the law that disallows cooperation with federal law.

‘Climate Change’ Will Cause More Extreme El Nino Events Or Something

Today’s prognostication of doom, in which the political climate scientists have found a new way to create a scenario of doom that is not disprovable. Using computer models, of course

Scientists just found a surprising possible consequence from a very small amount of global warming

Even if we meet our most ambitious climate goal — keeping global temperatures within a strict 1.5 degrees Celsius (or 2.7 degree Fahrenheit) of their preindustrial levels — there will still be consequences, scientists say. And they’ll last for years after we stop emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

New research suggests that extreme El Niño events — which can cause intense rainfall, flooding and other severe weather events in certain parts of the world — will occur more and more often as long as humans continue producing greenhouse gas emissions. And even if we’re able to stabilize the global climate at the 1.5-degree threshold, the study concludes, these events will continue to increase in frequency for up to another 100 years afterward. The findings were published Monday in the journal Nature Climate Change.

“It was really a surprise that what we find is after we reach 1.5 degrees Celsius and stabilize world temperatures, the frequency of extreme El Niño continued to increase for another century,” said Wenju Cai, a chief research scientist at Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization and one of the study’s lead authors. “We were expecting that the risk would stabilize.”

So, if any big El Nino’s occur, they can now Blame ‘climate change.’ And if they do not occur, they can say “see? We told you that these big government measures and taxes and stuff worked.” But, you know there will be big ones in the future, because that’s what happens. And little ones, which will also be linked to and blamed on anthropogenic climate change.

The researchers used a collection of 13 climate models to simulate a scenario in which global carbon dioxide emissions peak around the year 2040 and then decline, a trajectory that would keep the world within the 1.5-degree threshold. They then took note of how frequently these extreme events occurred in the simulations.

You can pretty much throw it in the garbage at this point.

Fail: Climate Change Garden Withers Due To Incompetence

This is what happens when you let your feelings get in the way of science

(Syracuse.com)  Three years ago, Syracuse University announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind “climate change garden” to study the effects of climate change on plants.

But today, the garden of 100 trees and shrubs in front of SU’s $114 million life sciences building is being ripped up and replaced because many of the trees were simply too big and are already dying.

“The specifications we used were those of a landscape architect who wanted the garden to look nice right off the bat,” said Doug Frank, one of two SU professors running the project. “The trees were too big and root masses too small, so we weren’t able to really get them to a stage where we felt they were healthy and we could use them.”

Here’s what they were thinking in terms of plants being doomed from small increases in CO2 (otherwise known as “plant food”) and warmth (because plants do awesome when it’s cold) from the “announced” link

“My hypothesis would be that the local species would not do as well over time,” Frank said. “You would see their growth rates decline, and the species native to warmer climates would see increased growth rates. I think of our garden as a harbinger of what Central New York forests will look like in the future.”

Now back to the new article

“It was a kind of comedy of errors,” said SU biology professor Jason Fridley, who works with Frank on the garden.

The whole “science” of anthropogenic climate change in a nutshell.

Surprise: National Anthem Protests Biggest Reason People Tuned Out NFL Games

It’s not the only reason, and only a small amount tuned out, but, when you equate that small percent with the number of people who watch football games, the drop turns rather huge

From Darren Rovell at ESPN

National anthem protests were the top reason that NFL fans watched fewer games last season, according to a new survey released by J.D. Power.

The pollster said it asked more than 9,200 people who attended either one football, basketball or hockey game whether they tuned into fewer games and why. Twenty-six percent of those who watched fewer games last season said that national anthem protests, some of which were led by Colin Kaepernick, were the reason.

After that, 24 percent of those surveyed who said they watched fewer games said they did so either because of the league’s off-the-field image issues with domestic violence or with game delays, including penalties.

20% said it was due to advertising and commercials, which is strange, as people simply change the channel.

J.D. Power noted that only 12 percent of the fans it surveyed said they watched fewer NFL games last season, with 27 percent of people saying they watched more and 62 percent saying they watched just as much as they had the season before.

So, only 12%.

NFL game viewership on networks that broadcast games was down an average of 8 percent for the 2016 regular season versus the season before. Before the election (Nov. 8), games for the first nine weeks were down 14 percent compared to 2015. The final eight weeks saw only a drop of 1 percent compared to Weeks 10-17 in 2015.

Interesting numbers. I’d hazard to guess that you have a combination of the ending of the election season, ending of broadcasters and on-air personalities getting political, and ending of broadcasters covering the silly protests by entitled, pampered, highly paid athletes less, plus the short memories of viewers. There were also plenty of great games in the 2nd half of the season. But, the loss of viewers through the first nine weeks represents a huge loss of revenue.

People just want to watch sports. To leave the craziness of the world behind for a few hours (well, could be more like binge watching, starting with morning coverage, moving to the 1 and 4pm games, to the 830pm Sunday night game). Just show us football.

ICE Director Looking Into Charging Sanctuary City Leaders With Smuggling Charges

If there’s one thing that’s working well on Trump’s agenda care …. the rest seems to be a dumpster fire, often self inflicted …. it’s the fight against illegal immigration. Things are Getting Done, especially with a leader with Thomas Homan, who really needs to be made the official ICE director

(Washington Times) The country’s top immigration enforcement officer says he is looking into charging sanctuary city leaders with violating federal anti-smuggling laws because he is fed up with local officials putting their communities and his officers at risk by releasing illegal immigrants from jail.

There’s quite a bit of information in the article about other matters illegal immigration related, such as there being more work site compliance enforcement, that officers have been unshackled from the limits imposed by Obama, most illegals are eligible to be picked up, and that the biggest problem now on those lines is the backlog in court.

Mr. Homan is a guy who came up through the ranks of the Border Patrol before going to ICE, so he isn’t just some political appointee with little actual working knowledge, and

“When we knock on doors, as any law enforcement officer will tell you, it’s risky, it’s dangerous. Compare that to arresting someone in the jail, when you know they don’t have weapons in the jail,” he said.

“It’s a matter of time before one of my officers is seriously hurt or doesn’t go home because someone made a political decision on the backs of my officers,” he said.

And you can bet the current DOJ will jump down the throats of the sanctuary jurisdictions when that happens.

But he said he won’t be chased out of “sanctuaries” and pointedly raised a section of federal code — 8 U.S.C. 1324 — that outlaws attempts to “conceal, harbor or shield” illegal immigrants.

“I think these sanctuary cities need to make sure they’re on the right side of the law. They need to look at this. Because I am,” he said.

Asked whether that means he will recommend prosecutions, he said, “We’re looking at what options we have.”

The law carries a penalty of five years in prison in most cases, but penalties could rise to include life in prison or even death if someone is killed during the crime.

And this puts sanctuary jurisdiction leaders on notice. ICE operations won’t end in sanctuary jurisdictions, especially since these places tend to incent illegals to come to them, and problems from picking up illegals may fall in the laps of those sanctuary leaders. Such as a violation of federal law.

He also dropped another truth bomb

Poll: Majority Of Warmists Refuse To Practice What They Preach

A very interesting poll from YouGov

Most climate change believers haven’t changed their lifestyles

57% of Americans now believe that human activity and natural causes are affecting Earth’s climate. Among them, most oppose President Trump’s pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement and 63% think the nations of the world should all work together to improve the global environment.

Only 15% think it is solely Mankind’s fault. Only 13% think solely natural causation. The interesting thing here is that the question does assign a percent to how much man and nature are responsible in the middle ground question. I myself would answer that man AND nature are at fault. I’ve discussed this many times, and I think real climatic changes, as opposed to the manufactured data ones, is about 10-25%, and much of that is simply land use and the urban heat island effect.

Here’s where it gets fun

We asked respondents about their consumption of fossil fuels and red meat, both of which have been noted for their impact on Earth’s ecosystems. Commercial beef production, for instance, accounts for more greenhouse gas each year than all the cars on the planet. 13% of climate change believers said they’ve greatly reduced their consumption of red meat, and 17% said they’ve reduced a little. 66% haven’t changed their habits at all.

Climate change believers were also asked about how their fossil fuel consumption has changed since hearing about climate change. 9% have cut back a lot, while 54% haven’t changed their consumption at all.

Here’s what it looks like

So, as we see, the majority aren’t really doing anything in their own lives, and you know that the majority are Warmists. And then there’s this, from the full results

So, after 25+ years of spreading awareness, 48% aren’t really worried, and 35% are just somewhat afraid. The Cult of Climastrology has spent a lot of time and money for negligible outcomes.
