NY Times: Trump Saying Racism Is Evil Is Only A Start Or Something

Newt Gingrich makes a salient point

Trump said bigotry and violence are “un-American,” Gingrich said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Monday night. “But clearly there was a hunger for him to use the specific phrases about white supremacists and about the KKK and about Nazis. He came back today (Monday afternoon), he said every single thing that his critics on the left want. So now you have crowds that are saying ‘well, he didn’t say it soon enough.’ I just want to suggest to you – there’s an anti-Trump movement in this country that will never, ever be satisfied as long as he’s president.”

And then we jump to the NY Times Editorial Board who are never satisfied (unless it’s Obama making a quick speech between golf holes which declared that Islamic jihadis are not Muslims in relation to James Foley being beheaded)

How Mr. Trump Could Face Up to White Supremacists

There’s a moral awakening taking place across America, but President Trump is still hiding under his blanket.

The racists’ march in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, a protest against the planned removal of a statue of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee, presented Mr. Trump with the most glaring opportunity yet to separate himself decisively from the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who have cheered him on since he announced his candidacy, and to make clear that America has no room for what they stand for. He blew it. After the marchers turned to violence, and one of them plowed a car into a group of counterprotesters, injuring at least 19 and killing a woman named Heather Heyer, Mr. Trump said only that he rejected violence “on many sides.”

On Monday, Mr. Trump found his way to something resembling a presidential response. “Racism is evil,” he said in a terse speech delivered off a Teleprompter in a tight-jawed monotone. “Those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the K.K.K., neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Let me ask something: if you’re showing up to rallies, marches, protests, and counter-protests wearing a mask, what are you looking for? There’s been nary a mention of the violence from Antifa and Black Lives Matter from the NY Times. Who started the violence in Charlottesville? Was it the KKK/Nazis/White supremacist nutjobs, or the Antifa crowd? Violence appears at virtually every single left wing gathering. Both sides are despicable. Yet, the NYTEB is only calling out one.

The NYTEB has almost never touched on the anti-Jew sentiment emanating from Democrats. Is that not evil?

His aides reportedly urged him to express that straightforward sentiment on Saturday. Yet even as he now managed to get some of the right words out he could not bring himself to assign blame for Ms. Heyer’s death, saying only that she “was tragically killed.” Contrast that with his eager invocations of Kathryn Steinle — “the beautiful Kate,” as he started calling her in tweets and speeches more than two years ago, after she “was gunned down in SF by an illegal immigrant.”

First, at the time Trump made the comments, we had no idea who killed Ms. Heyer and which side they were on. As for Kate Steinle, we knew exactly who killed her when Trump started commenting.

Why has the Times never called out Obama for supporting illegal aliens who kill Americans? Why have they never denounced Obama for failing to reach out to Kate’s family and friends? Because Obama was a Democrat and Trump uses the Republican brand.

The double standard goes to the heart of Mr. Trump’s simplistic, racialized worldview, where the criminals are black or brown and the victims are white. In fact, white supremacists have been responsible for 49 homicides in the past 16 years, more than any other domestic extremist movement, according to a joint intelligence bulletin produced by the F.B.I. and the Department of Homeland Security in May.

How many homicides have been linked to Black Lives Matter and Antifa talking points in the last few years? The NY Times could barely find outrage against the Islamic extremist movement, were a Muslim fanatic killed as many in a few hours as the nutty white supremacists killed in 16 years.

More Americans have been killed by illegal aliens in the past 16 years than by white supremacists.

This is not to defend the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, or KKK. But, if you want to go after one, you must go after the others. Where were the calls for Democrats to denounce Robert Byrd, a longtime high-ranking KKK member? The NY Times typically defended Obama for refusing to name and denounce radical Islam. They never denounced Obama as he refused to call out the Black Lives Matter movement with their virulent anti-white and anti-police talking points, along with their calls for violence and actual violence.

You can’t call out one while ignoring the others. Though, the NY Times and Democrats will give it a shot. And they will never, ever, give Trump a fair shake.

Good News: The World Is On Fire Because You Ate A Hamburger

The world is on fire

A huge wildfire is raging in Greenland. 150 km from the Arctic Circle and just 50 km away from Greenland’s ice sheet, large swathes of tundra have been burning for over a week.

Nobody has seen anything like this in recent times.

It’s rare, but it happens.

In the last few years, catastrophic fires have been increasing around the world. From Indonesia to Canada, across South America and Africa, from Southern Europe into Siberia, and now Greenland too. Many are fatal.

As you read this, over 1.6 million hectares of Russia are on fire. Forest fires of this scale are unmanageable and blazes like these have become the new normal in Russia.

The Greenland fires, which are very close together, and most of the other ones, have actually been linked to human activity or lightening strikes. The latter has always happened, and the human one is people being dumbasses and causing them.

Lack of forest management, insufficient funds for prevention and firefighting are partly to blame. But climate change is the real problem. The fire season in the boreal forests is getting longer every year. Hotter, drier weather spells make fire spread faster.

Interestingly, they’re complaining about the very thing they constantly try and stop, namely, cleaning up brush to minimize fires, and not allowing controlled burns. Forests burn. It’s part of their natural cycle, and helps new trees grow. As for the last? That doesn’t prove anthropogenic causation.

But, don’t let reality get in the way of a good scareathon.

Law Scholars Urge Trump to Ignore Federal Law On Young Illegal Aliens

Law scholars urge Trump to keep program for young immigrants

A group of legal scholars is urging President Donald Trump to keep a program protecting hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation and is outlining a legal argument to maintain it.

Around 100 law professors and immigration attorneys are scheduled Monday to send Trump an open letter arguing the president has the legal authority to preserve the Obama administration program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

Michael Olivas, a law professor at the University of Houston Law Center and Santa Fe, New Mexico, resident, told The Associated Press the letter details why the program, which has helped around 750,000 immigrants, is legal.

“It’s a very successful program, and we layout the legality,” said Olivas, one of the authors of the letter. “It is not unconstitutional as some have suggested.”

Federal courts have ruled the president can use “prosecutorial discretion” to give certain immigrants, like these young migrants, temporary protective status, the scholars said.

Prosecutorial discretion doesn’t make it legal (even Obama agreed). These people are unlawfully present in the United States. Federal law makes it quite clear that anyone who is in the U.S. in this manner is unlawfully present, and executive action for a slight deferral doesn’t make their status legal. Only Congress can do that.

Could Trump announce that he would use prosecutorial discretion to give temporary protective status to certain companies that refuse to pay their taxes? How would that go over?

If You’re Into Identity Politics, Nothing Should Be More Important Than ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Interestingly, many people attempt to take me to task for my long held notion that the anthropogenic climate change movement is primarily about politics. Leftist politics. And nutty Cult Of Climastrology members like the UK Guardian keep proving me right

If you care about identity politics your priority has to be saving the planet

Someone writes a memo about his views on gender difference and it kicks off. Apparently women are in tears, too traumatised to go to work. A baker refuses to ice a wedding cake for two guys and my Twitter feed practically bursts into flames. “HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING?!”

But mention the climate crisis, something that is smashing temperature records, raising sea levels, driving diseases into places they’ve not been before, and which may lead, as Professor Stephen Hawking suggests, to a need for the human race to flee the planet, and there’s radio silence. You can almost see the digital tumbleweed. (snip)

But what is surprising is that the left are not more fired up about the climate crisis. In the UK, commentators such as Katie Hopkins imply that the only people who care are hysterical lefty shills. Of course lots of people, on the left and right do care, more than ever. After all, this is an issue of science and survival and we all have the same to lose. But in my experience, many on the left who should care more about climate change just don’t. People who are extremely vocal about homophobia, transphobia, racism and sexism seem to have a blind spot. Which is odd because in the coming decades, all those problems (and more) will be supersized. (snip)

People are killed because they are of colour, women, trans, gays or lesbians. These are among the most important issues. But could it be that there are things that we must also raise our voices for, that are more important and on which all other issues rest and rely? The DUP’s position on equal marriage, the BBC gender pay gap, Piers Morgan’s views on non-binary people – all are meaningless if the fight that future generations face is for clean water or surviving wars caused by migration that will make the Syrian crisis, itself partly driven by extreme drought, look like a children’s tea party. We must wake up and take responsibility. This is not a case of either/or – it is possible to campaign on multiple issues at the same time, but for too long, too many progressives have stayed silent over climate change.

There’s plenty more about identity politics, and you can see how writer Matthew Todd attempts to link it all with ‘climate change’, much like Warmists have to link every holiday, every rain storm, every time the wind blows, when a volcano erupts, if there’s an earthquake, you name it, to ‘climate change.’ They cannot help themselves.

What you’ll end up is with a small number becoming more unhinged and vocal, while even more people will tune out from ‘climate change’, realizing that it is nutty and has little to nothing to do with actual science.

Washington Post Decides To Make Potential Civil War In Venezuela All About Trump

I remember an article, long long ago, somewhere in 2006, where a liberal nutjob suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome was profiled. She would wake up early, because life under George W. Bush was just too much to deal with, then grab a non-alcoholic beer, chain-smoke, and wonder “what she should scream about this day”. Should it be about Bush, whom she considers “malevolent,” a “sociopath” and “the Antichrist”? She smokes another cigarette. Should it be about Vice President Cheney, whom she thinks of as “Satan,” or about Karl Rove, “the devil”? That was from the Washington Post, entitled The Left, Online and Outraged.

That’s what today’s opinion pages look like, the NEED to find something nutty and angry to write against Trump, especially when we get something like this from the Washington Post Editorial Board

The specter of civil war in Venezuela

MISERABLE AS the people of Venezuela may be under the increasingly repressive and irrational rule of the Nicolás Maduro regime, they had fresh reason for hope last week — until President Trump’s blundering words on Friday.

The Western Hemisphere’s democracies were rallying against Mr. Maduro’s latest power grab — a phony election to install a new, rubber-stamp legislature, accompanied by a crackdown on domestic opponents. In Lima, Peru, a 17-member bloc of countries, including Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, had condemned Mr. Maduro’s government and imposed diplomatic isolation upon it. This effectively formed an ad hoc alternative to the Organization of American States, which had previously failed to respond to the situation appropriately because of Venezuela’s co-optation of client states and leftist allies. Meanwhile, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights had decried a “breakdown of the rule of law” and pinned responsibility on “the highest levels of the government.”

Then, with a stray remark, Mr. Trump set back much of this important diplomacy. Apparently oblivious to long-standing Latin American concerns about U.S. military intervention, he observed that his administration has “many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option, if necessary.” Perhaps his comment to reporters was intended as the usual “nothing is off the table” boilerplate; if so, it badly misfired. Mr. Trump’s bloviating immediately provided a shred of credibility to the Maduro regime’s conspiracy theories, which portray his domestic opponents as preparing the ground for Yankee intervention. Consequently, the new Peruvian-forged coalition had to waste precious time and political capital repudiating the American president, albeit not by name. “All foreign or domestic threats to resort to force undermine the goal of reinstating democratic governance in Venezuela, as well as the principles enshrined in the UN charter,” Peru’s foreign minister said.

If you’re guessing that the WPEB, which has almost never written about Venezuela, and were very approving of the previous wacko and authoritarian, Hugo Chavez, is now more Outraged by said boilerplate comment than about what the Venezuelan government is doing, you’d be correct. If you think they are magnifying the comment, conflating it to a threat to invade, you’d be correct. If you’re thinking that they wouldn’t criticize Obama in the same manner, you’d be correct.

Indeed, they do. To be sure, the damage Mr. Trump did is mostly intangible — but intangibles matter.

Fully stop. Nothing after that matters. This is simply the WPEB being part of the The Left, Online (and in bird cage liner) and Outraged, suffering from TDS. They even end the missive with the notion that Trump should not “enforce obedience on everyone else.” Interestingly, they did not have the same problem when Obama interfered in Lybia. Syria. When Russia invaded Crimea. Iran trying to build nukes. Etc.

Washington Post Decides To Write What Trump Should Have Said About Charlottesville

The Washington Post Editorial Board is in its normal snit fit mode, having decided to make the Charlottesville riot all about President Trump. Because #Resist. They’ve decided that what Trump said wasn’t presidential, so, they decided to create their own version of what a presidential president would say about the incident, because what Trump said just doesn’t fit in. I guess they’d prefer that he came off the golf course to make a speech, then head back for a few more holes. Which, BTW, I cannot find any condemnation of what Obama did regarding James Foley from the WPEB in the immediate few days.

What a presidential president would have said about Charlottesville

HERE IS what President Trump said Saturday about the violence in Charlottesville sparked by a demonstration of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members:

We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. On many sides.

Here is what a presidential president would have said:

“The violence Friday and Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., is a tragedy and an unacceptable, impermissible assault on American values. It is an assault, specifically, on the ideals we cherish most in a pluralistic democracy — tolerance, peaceable coexistence and diversity.

Of course, it’s easy for the WPEB, who wrote this hours and hours after the event, rather than as it was happening. Of course, no matter what Trump said, La Resistance would find fault. Had Trump said the exact words the WPEB manufactured, they would have found fault.

What is vital now is a swift restoration of law and order and the protection of innocent lives. No citizen should ever fear for their safety and security in our society. And no child should ever be afraid to go outside and play or be with their parents and have a good time.

And we are here to provide whatever other assistance is needed. We are ready, willing and able. Above all else, we must remember this truth: No matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all Americans first. We love our country. We love our god.

We love our flag. We’re proud of our country. We’re proud of who we are, so we want to get the situation straightened out in Charlottesville, and we want to study it. And we want to see what we’re doing wrong as a country where things like this can happen. My administration is restoring the sacred bonds of loyalty between this nation and its citizens, but our citizens must also restore the bonds of trust and loyalty between one another. We must love each other, respect each other and cherish our history and our future together. So important. We have to respect each other. Ideally, we have to love each other.

Man, Trump just can’t get a …… oh, wait, that’s from his actual comments, made in the moment. In fact, the media, like the WPEB, are running with just tiny excerpts from Trump’s speech, which can put them out of context.

They actually would. Now, here’s something interesting from the made up WPEB “speech”

“To wink at racism or to condone it through silence, or false moral equivalence, or elision, as some do, is no better and no more acceptable than racism itself. Just as we can justly identify radical Islamic terrorism when we see it, and call it out, so can we all see the racists in Charlottesville, and understand that they are anathema in our society, which depends so centrally on mutual respect.

Um, what? Folks like the WPEB tell us that they aren’t Islamic. They have conniption fits when people condemn Islamic terrorism as being Islamophobes. They do all they can to avoid mentioning that the terrorists are Muslims. They have meltdowns over wanting to slow the flow of Muslims coming from hotbeds of Islamic extremism to make sure they aren’t Islamic extremists. Has anyone seen any big stories or opinion pieces emanating from the WP about female genital mutilation in the United States, which occurs in Muslim communities? No? How about the honor killings?

And the WP has barely ever touched on denouncing the racist Black Lives Matter movement, nor the violence that has occurred in their marches, nor their racist and violent rhetoric. Nor do they condemn the violence and horrific rhetoric from the #Resist folks. They want it both ways.

Moving on

“We may all have pressing and legitimate questions about how the violence in Charlottesville unfolded — and whether it could have been prevented. There will be time in coming days to delve further into those matters, and demand answers. In the meantime, I stand ready to provide any and all resources from the federal government to ensure there will be no recurrence of such violence in Virginia or elsewhere. Let us keep the victims of this terrible tragedy in our thoughts and prayers, and keep faith that the values enshrined in our Constitution and laws will prevail against those who would desecrate our democracy.”

Um, Trump did rather say something similar. Of course, if you think about it, the folks who actually look to desecrate our democracy (yes, yes, it’s a Republic) and violate our Constitution are a large chunk of those who vote Democrat. We could surely go into all the why’s and how’s and what’s, however, most are aware, and there are too many instances to delve into.

Regardless, the left is freaking out, and would no matter what. The NY Times says Trump’s comments were insufficient

If Trump said that flu shots are wonder and beautiful and everyone should get one, Democrats, led by the Washington Post and NY Times, would denounce getting flu shots.
