Today’s bit of Cult of Climastrology doomsaying
CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECTS COULD MEAN THE END OF COFFEE BEANS
The world never looks quite as grim with a cup of coffee in hand. But coffee, like all agricultural products, could be thrown into upheaval by climate change, making an already terrifying situation even bleaker. And a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences offers a different perspective on the challenges that may block coffee fiends from a good cup of their necessary beverage.
When looking at the risks of climate change, two key factors have to be taken into account. The first is whether the species you’re worried about—coffee plants, in this case—can withstand temperature and precipitation changes to their habitat.
Newsweek even provides a helpful photo of Hillary Clinton drinking a cup of coffee. Probably to wash down the pills that keep her from collapsing like at the 9/11 observation in 2016.
The new study takes a different approach—it looks at the fate of bees, which pollinate coffee plants. When we think about bees, we tend to picture the basic honey bee, hive-dweller and agricultural superstar. But there are actually thousands of species of bees, which each fit into an ecosystem.
In addition to mapping how coffee-suitable habitat in Central and South America may shift with climate change, the scientists looked at how bee-suitable habitat may shift, then they combined those factors.
The coffee habitat predictions are grim: The scientists think good coffee ground in 2050 will span only a fifth to a quarter of current coffee-friendly habitat. That’s a more dire picture than global estimates have suggested.
And in 2050 we’ll find out that there are record coffee crops, because Warmist models and doomsaying have failed about 95% of the time. Eh. Warmists, if they’re still around, will probably tell us record crops are linked to ‘climate change’, as well.

Pro-illegal alien supporters keep telling us that they do not want the “bad ones”, only the good ones, and then, in the next breath, show their support for the bad ones
If you’re in a gang and you’re an immigrant, you shouldn’t be in the United States, some Republicans say.
On Thursday the Republican-led House passed a new bill to remove immigrants from the U.S., even if they have never committed a crime, because they associate with “the wrong people.â€
“It’s time we stand up for our children and end this brutal gang violence occurring in our neighborhoods, once and for all,†House Speaker Paul Ryan wrote on Twitter after the bill, known as the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act, passed.
The bill makes being a member of a gang a deportable offense and allows those applying for immigration status to be refused on suspicion that they are.
Technically, it’s already encoded in the laws regarding immigration status, under “good moral character.” But, of course
Republicans pointed out that under current laws, it was not possible to deport gang members until they are convicted of a crime.
“The bill targets immigrants for detention and deportation even if they have not committed a crime or been suspected of committing a crime,†said the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) in a statement about the bill when it was brought to the Congress early this week.
The bill is written in a way, the civil rights group said, that allows the Department of Homeland Security to “target groups as varied as churches and fraternities for designation as a criminal gang.â€
Good grief. Typical over-reach hysteria by the pro-illegal alien supporters.
Under the new law, however, young people who have never committed a crime could be profiled and considered to be a part of a gang simply for having an association with the wrong people, the NIJC said in its statement about the bill.
Democrats didn’t see the law as working to achieve Republican goals without its allowing immigrants to be targeted and deported with little or no evidence.
“The bill broadly overreaches and puts Americans and immigrants at risk of being unjustly profiled,†said Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Michelle Lujan Grisham in a statement.
This bill is an attempt to crackdown on violent gangs that are chock full of illegal aliens, and some lawfully present aliens, like MS-13. But, of course the pro-illegal alien folks have a problem with this, because they see future Democratic Party voters, regardless of whether they are gang members, and they have this knee-jerk reaction to any initiatives and/or legislation that cracks down on illegals.
This was passed on mostly party lines, 233-175, with only 11 Democrats voting to crack down on illegal alien gang members. Only one Republican voted against. Sadly, with the Democratic Party support for illegal alien gang members, there is little chance in the Senate, as the Democrats will surely filibuster and not even allow a vote. Mitch McConnell would be well served to figure out a way to force a vote, and force Democrats Senators to go on record as supporting illegal alien gang members.

This has all the hallmarks of an Islamist attack
(Daily Mail) A ‘bucket bomb’ has exploded on Tube train at the height of rush hour today sending a ‘wall of fire’ through the carriage injuring at least 20 people including children in a suspected terror attack.
Terrified passengers ‘ran for their lives’ and were seen covered in blood with scorched legs, faces and hair after the incident at Parsons Green station in west London at 8.20am.
Photographs from the District Line train show what experts believe is a ‘pretty unsophisticated’ bomb in a flaming white bucket inside a Lidl freezer bag with Christmas lights connected to a battery protruding out of the top.
Witnesses said there was a loud ‘bang’, a flash and then a ball of flame engulfed the area but police believe it failed to properly detonate.
Scotland Yard sources have said that it is being treated as terrorist incident but could not confirm claims there is another device and the suspect is on the run.
But an officer at the scene told MailOnline: ‘We believe there is a second bomb – there is a man with knives on the loose.’
It doesn’t look like much

but, it doesn’t take a whole lot to hurt a whole lot of people. So far, there are no reports of anyone being killed, but a lot of people where burned, some badly.
We can all be pretty sure what is going to happen next. The person law enforcement believes is responsible will be of Muslim persuasion, then we’ll find out all sorts of information about how the person was radicalized, and ISIS will most likely take responsibility. Then there will be raids, and more radicalized Muslims will be arrested. And Britain will keep letting them in.
But

Because tweeting the wrong thing in Britain can get you detained. I’m sure London Mayor Sadiq Khan will have some inspirational words about terrorist attacks (from his hardcore Islamist brethren) being just part and parcel of living in a big city.

Well, there are lots of walls they do like. Like the ones they build around their homes to keep out the riff raff. Especially in liberal cities, where they do not want blacks and latinos on their property. And (via Twitchy)

Well, I can understand the need for the barriers: Liberals, especially their hardcore elements like BLM and Antifa (which Democrats mostly refuse to denounce, and only then with all sorts of exemptions and asterisks), are violent, and need to be separated.

That’s why Obama built a wall around his Chicago and D.C. homes.
PS: again, I’m not a big proponent of a full border length wall, but, it would be great in the middle of nowhere areas.

I’m starting to see a pattern out of the Cult of Climastrology, where they are creating a Narrative about hurricanes not changing people’s minds on anthropogenic climate change. Here we have Bloomberg’s Jennifer Dloughy giving it a shot
Monster Storms Change Coastlines, Not Minds on Climate Change
Back-to-back hurricanes fueled by warm Atlantic waters may have altered the coasts of Texas and Florida, but there’s no indication they are shifting the politics of climate change.
Except, Harvey was fueled by average to below average Gulf waters, not the Atlantic. Irma developed over below average Atlantic waters, before hitting mostly normal waters as it hit the Caribbean islands. Why this need to lie from Warmists?
“We cannot ignore that carbon emissions are causing our ocean temperatures to get warmer, which is fueling more powerful hurricanes,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, at a lightly attended hearing on carbon-capture technology.
Yet that is exactly what many are doing on an issue that increasingly breaks down along partisan lines. Republicans in charge of the House and Senate haven’t scheduled hearings to examine the phenomenon. President Donald Trump has ignored shouted questions on the topic and administration officials have brushed the whole issue aside as a distraction.
Why would they schedule any? There is nothing abnormal about hurricanes during hurricane season. It is interesting that a mildly active hurricane season is everything, while almost 12 years of no landfalling major hurricanes means nothing.
People in areas that have experienced extreme weather are only marginally more likely to support climate adaption policies such as elevation requirements and restrictions on coastal development, according to research published in the September issue of “Global Environmental Change.” Instead, political party identification is a much bigger factor in how people viewed the issue, according to the study that examined public opinion data coupled with geographic information about extreme weather events.
And any changes in thinking after extreme weather are likely to be temporary.
“There was no discernible difference after a month between people who experienced more extreme weather and those who did not,” Llewelyn Hughes, a professor at Australian National University, and David Konisky, a professor at Indiana University, said in a Washington Post essay describing their research. “Even though events like Hurricane Irma are tragic, it may very well be that people tend to forget about them quite quickly and get on with the rest of their lives.”
Because most are not brainwashed cult members who think every incident of Bad Weather is caused by Someone Else’s carbon footprint. Instead, they realize storms are a natural part of, get this, weather.
There are also parallels to the gun control debate, which didn’t dramatically shift after shootings of schoolchildren in Connecticut and a congressman in Virginia.

That’s it, I’m done. Nutballs.

What actually just happened?
(Daily Caller) Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi say President Donald Trump agreed to legalize recipients of the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program without a border wall.
“We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President. The discussion focused on DACA. We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides,†the two Democratic leaders said in a joint statement late Wednesday night.
This caused many MAGA folks to lose their minds, such as the head cheerleader
At this point, who DOESN'T want Trump impeached? https://t.co/g1mMhmm8ng
— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) September 14, 2017
The other head cheerleader, Sean Hannity, blamed the GOP. Joe Walsh responded to Hannity, saying it was Trump’s fault, and to stop coddling him. Breitbart even called Trump “Amnesty Don.”
But, Sarah Sanders tweeted out that “While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to.” And Trump this morning
No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 14, 2017
One has to wonder where the reality lies
Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar echoed Pelosi and Schumer telling reporters that the president told a group of House members who visited the White House Wednesday that Trump was not interested in funding the border wall in the DACA fix.
“We were talking about DACA. We brought up DACA. Then he [Trump] says, ‘We need border security,’†Cuellar told reporters. “And then he looks up and says, ‘No wall. Put it somewhere else.'”
Reading in Politics, it seems as if Trump was willing to do a deal on DACA without the border wall funding being in this particular bill, but the funding would need to be elsewhere. It’s not being forgotten. Of course, where better to put it than right in any DACA bill? Because, otherwise, it will not get done.
Of course, the bills that are under discussion would provide legal avenues for way more than the supposed 800,000 Dreamers. Hundreds of thousands more. And Trump seems to be going full bore Amnesty with his tweets this morning, such as
“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!†Trump wrote. “They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own – brought in by parents at young age. Plus BIG border security.â€
OK, let’s compromise: the parents have to self deport prior to any initiation of legal status for DACA kids. Since the parents broke the law, that seems fair.
As the saying goes, the proof is in the details. We’ll wait to see what they are. Based on previous GOP attempts, they’ll surely disappoint us, as they’ll give it all up to Democrats for security that will never materialize.
This is real
Why are sports so focused on winning? A feminist scholar has found the answer https://t.co/G8ll05iYjr pic.twitter.com/ifO8gaHJCc
— New Real Peer Review (@RealPeerReview) September 13, 2017
No, really. This comes from the Journal Of Philosophy In Sports. Yes, that’s a real thing, too
Toward sport reform: hegemonic masculinity and reconceptualizing competition
Hegemonic masculinity, a framework where stereotypically masculine traits are over-emphasized, plays a central role in sport, partly due to an excessive focus on winning. This type of masculinity marginalizes those that do not possess specific traits, including many women and men. I argue sport reform focused on mitigating hypercompetitive attitudes can reduce this harmful and marginalizing hegemonic masculinity in sport. I make this argument first by challenging the dichotomous nature of sport, especially in recognizing that all outcomes are a blend of winning and losing, that ties are relevant and informative outcomes to contests, and that winning and losing do not always tell accurate stories of the outcome. Secondly, I contend that expanding the potential outcomes in sport can help broaden the emphasis of competitive sport to take into account playing well and improving, in terms of both the test and the contest. I conclude that these reforms decrease hegemonic masculinity, making sport better for all.
It’s like someone use one of those programs that just spit out words in a seemingly coherent pattern. Really, I started to go and put a few lines in bold, but, they’re all wackadoodle.
Expanding outcome? Games can end in a win, loss, or tie, depending on the sport. What else is there? It does look like Ms. Coleen English (isn’t English considered raaaaacist now? Along with proper Grammar?) is setting up women to be considered hothouse flowers who need tons of protection (probably via government) rather than being people who can compete.
But, hey, I wonder, if we shouldn’t focus on winning and losing, then why are Democrats so utterly Level 10 Unhinged over Trump winning and Hillary losing?
