Coons, Flake Introduce National Carbon Tax

They say that it will raise the incomes of working Americans by sending them a government check

If Coons wants to lead, when will he give up his own use of fossil fuels and make his life carbon neutral? Oh, right, right, he’s rich, and can afford to keep living his life the same. He’ll just pay a small penalty or carbon offset for his own bad behavior.

U.S. Senators Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) today introduced bipartisan legislation to pay a monthly dividend to every American family.  The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act places an increasing price on carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions, designed to drive down pollution, address climate change, and encourage market-driven innovation in clean energy technologies.  Revenues received will be returned directly to the American people in the form of a monthly dividend, protecting energy consumers and low- and middle-income households.  The legislation aims to help accelerate American innovation to advance clean energy solutions, incentivize our trading partners to lower emissions, and prevent thousands of pollution-related deaths annually. A related bill was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressmen Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), Francis Rooney (R-Fla.), John Delaney (D-Md.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.), and Charlie Christ (D-Fla.).

“Climate change is a serious threat to our economy, our security, and our way of life, and we need leadership from all parts of our society and government to tackle it,” said Senator Coons.  “Putting an economy-wide price on carbon and other greenhouse gases is a comprehensive way to reduce emissions, spur innovation, and create jobs.  I am proud to introduce this legislation with my good friend Jeff Flake, who has long been a champion of market-based climate legislation since his days in the House.  I am hopeful that we will continue to have bipartisan conversations about addressing this issue.” (snip)

Let’s take a quick look at that one pager

Carbon Dividend – The legislation rebates 100% of net revenues from the carbon fee to the American people as a monthly dividend. This protects consumers and the economy, maintains revenue neutrality, and offsets cost increases for most Americans, including low- and middle income Americans. An equal share is provided to all adults with a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number and a half share is provided on account of children. Additionally, the first payment is made one month in advance so that families and households are able to cover any increased energy costs.

In essence, he and the others are admitting that this will drastically skyrocket the cost of living for low and middle income Americans. So Government gives money to citizens, which makes them more reliant to Government, and more under the thumb of Government. Funny how that works.

Apparently, getting serious about ‘climate change’ means artificially increasing the cost of living, hosing the middle and lower classes, and increasing the power and scope of the federal government.

This will, of course, never see the light of day in the GOP run US Senate.

I was, frankly, nervous about speaking to people of faith in the south about climate change. I wrestled with my own preconceived notions and past experiences, and was surprised when conversations took inspiring, if not transcendent, turns.

Secular as I am now, I still think fondly of my childhood minister, Dr Lehman, who loved college basketball and Honda Accords (he drove 13 of them during his lifetime). At the conclusion of each Lakeside Baptist service, he’d call the eastern North Carolina congregation to action.

In other words, she’s an anti-Christian religion bigot.

My frustration from those years has at times stopped me from reaching out to those in the faith-based community, especially regarding political issues like climate change. I’m aware of my own bias, the way it was formed by negative experiences, and how it limits my understanding of believers and their choices. This realization helps me understand why believers might in turn have problems connecting with someone like me.

She made a big woopsie there, because Warmists are not supposed to tell us that this about anything other than science.

I spoke with people of faith in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, and it became clear that the primary barrier to climate action is the fact that it’s been yoked with the liberal agenda. Climate activist and author Anna Jane Joyner, whose father is the pastor of a megachurch in North Carolina, writes that she grew up lumping “environmentalists in with hippies and liberals and all the other people who were probably going to hell”.

Of course, ‘climate change’ has little to do with the environment, because the climate is always changing.

Anyhow, sorry, there is zero mention of Jesus beyond the headline. Because Jesus would probably say something along the lines of “stay out of the politics of Caesar and preach the Lord’s word.” Seriously, these same people who like to trot out Jesus’ name for their ‘climate change’ nuttbaggery also are the ones who sue to get everything Christmas removed from the public domain.

One Of The Illegals Released By Wake County Sheriff Assaulted Woman, Causing Her To Drop Baby

It’s not like we didn’t know this was going to happen: Gerald Baker pretty much said he was going to make sure that the Wake County Sheriff’s office would refuse to enforce laws Baker didn’t like. And we know from yesterday that he let 16 illegals go, with the potential to release more. Here’s one of them

Wake sheriff’s move may mean stepped up immigration enforcement

Federal immigration officials are not happy after they say a violent offender who is in the country illegally walked out of the Wake County jail Monday after he was accused of hitting a woman during a domestic dispute.

New Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker says he will not participate in 287G, the federal program where local jails check the immigration status of people arrested and detain them.

One of those people was Jose Cordero-Jimenez, who is charged with assaulting a woman.

According to the arrest warrant, Cordero-Jimenez punched and kicked the victim before she dropped their infant son twice.

After his arrest, he was released the same day on a $2,500 bond.

Under the federal 287G program that the former Wake sheriff complied with, the suspect would have been held and handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, but Baker ran on a promise to stop that cooperation.

Even in the era of #MeToo, Liberals cannot find it in themselves to be outraged over a violent illegal alien who assaulted a woman repeatedly being let out of jail rather than being turned over to ICE.

ICE officials say this means they have no choice but to go out into the community and look for those in the country illegally.

“When public safety threats are released back into the community, they are free to re-offend in the time that it takes between their release and the time it takes to locate these individuals and to re-arrest them to take them back into custody,” said ICE spokesman Bryan Cox.

And these illegals often disappear and never return for their court dates. But, when they do, ICE will now be present at the Wake County courthouse.

Baker said the ICE detainment policy is divisive.

“It only serves to further divide and intimidate the citizens of Wake County. It is a policy decision made by ICE to step up enforcement efforts in neighborhoods and at work sites,” Baker has said.

Enforcing the law is divisive? Who knew!

Said Baker: “Cox seems to imply that my office is under a duty to notify ICE when a person is released on bond. This is not the case. We are not an arm of the federal government.”

So, if a kidnapper was caught, and, remember, that is a crime whereby Los Federales get involve, he wouldn’t bother notifying the FBI because it’s the job of the federal government? Seriously, how long does it take to make a call, send an email? It’s always some excuse with these illegal alien lovers. Again, I’m looking forward to all the Outraged articles about ICE making sweeps in Wake County, picking illegals up at court, and so forth.

Baltimore Women Does Gun Buy Back, Plans To Get Bigger Gun

Twenty-five dollars for rifle magazines that carry more than 10 rounds, one-hundred dollars for revolvers, pump and bolt action weapons, two-hundred dollars for semi-automatic weapons and five-hundred dollars for full-auto weapons.

Thing is, that semi-auto pistol mostly likely cost more than she got back. Unless it’s old and worn out, not worth it. And, a fully automatic weapon? That would most likely be illegal to possess.

The Mayor and Police Commissioner say the gun buyback program is another tool in the waged war against violent crime some research shows gun buyback programs are not effective in reducing violent crime in urban settings.

Mayor Pugh told FOX45, “Our point here is, there are guns on the streets of our city. We are signaling folks out there, we don’t care if its grandpa’s gun or your gun, we want it.”

What they mostly get back are guns that were stolen. They give the thieves money, then they steal more guns.

Deranged Warmist Names New Creature After Trump

Blind creature that buries head in sand named after Donald Trump

A newly discovered blind and burrowing amphibian is to be officially named Dermophis donaldtrumpi, in recognition of the US president’s climate change denial.

The name was chosen by the boss of EnviroBuild, a sustainable building materials company, who paid $25,000 (£19,800) at an auction for the right. The small legless creature was found in Panama and EnviroBuild’s Aidan Bell said its ability to bury its head in the ground matched Donald Trump’s approach to global warming.

Trump’s distinctive hair has already led to comparisons to a poisonous furry caterpillar and a golden-plumed pheasant, while a yellow-crowned moth was called Neopalpa donaldtrumpi in 2017. (snip)

The newly discovered creature is a caecilian and its naming rights were auctioned to raise money for the Rainforest Trust. The scientists who found the 10cm amphibian have agreed to use the name Dermophis donaldtrumpi when they officially publish the discovery in scientific literature.

Bell said: “It is the perfect name. Caecilian is taken from the Latin caecus,meaning ‘blind’, perfectly mirroring the strategic vision President Trump has consistently shown towards climate change.”

The funny part is that these scientists take long fossil fueled trips to search for new species. And that their Trump Derangement Syndrome is so great that Trump now has something that is named after him and will be for thousands of years if not more.

Democrats Promise “Dawn Of New Era” On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Do they understand that this will be a mostly wasted effort? That they’ll have lots of speeches and votes and such and then the legislation will die in the Senate?

Democrat led U.S. House to take on climate change says Markey

A Democratic majority in the U.S. House in January will mark the “dawn of a new era” in fighting climate change, according to U.S. Sen. Ed Markey.

Markey held a morning meeting Monday at his Boston office with representatives of more than 20 environmental groups to discuss priorities for the new Congress. Addressing reporters afterwards, he outlined an agenda that includes items that have yet to become law at the state level: a transition to 100 percent clean energy, and a carbon-pricing system.

Along with achieving 100 percent clean energy within the next 20 years and laying down markets for putting a price on carbon, Markey’s climate action priorities include promoting energy efficiency, halting fossil fuel exports, and ushering in offshore wind, which he described as the next frontier in clean energy.

Markey, a Malden Democrat, is set to serve in a Senate that remains under Republican control, while this year’s midterm elections ushered in a new Democratic majority in the House. The flip in House control means the dynamic is now different in Washington, Markey said.

“A green agenda can come out of the House of Representatives that then empowers the senators who care about these issues, including Republicans, because it will no longer be a bottled up agenda,” he said. “This agenda is now about to become real. It’s about to become alive.”

First, if Markey remembers, it was primarily Democrats from his state, Massachusetts, who blocked the Cape Wind project for well over a decade. Second, and more importantly, nothing Markey proposes will make it out of committee for a vote. When the people get a vote, they turn down any type of carbon taxing scheme. Halting the exportation of a fully legal commodity? Expect massive lawsuits if that passed, which it won’t. It won’t even get a vote, unless Mitch McConnell wants to embarrass Democrats and show them for the big government wankers they are.

100% clean energy in 20 years? Not unless someone creates something new. If offshore windfarms are so great, why aren’t Cult of Climastrology towns and states, such as California, slapping them up all over?

“We are going to save all of creation by engaging in massive job creation,” he said.

Say, has Mr. Markey stopped using fossil fuels himself?

New Wake County Sheriff Releases Illegal Aliens, Invites ICE To Have Larger Presence, Make Visible Arrests

In the era of Trump, where ICE is fully allowed to do the part of their job where they detain illegal aliens, what happens when jurisdictions are sanctuary’s for illegals and/or release illegals with ICE detainers on them? Well, ICE starts operating more heavily in those jurisdiction, ends up making more visible arrests, and often ends up arresting way more illegal aliens, with lots of the so-called good ones being swept up in operations. 16 released from jail after Wake sheriff ends participation in immigration program

Since being sworn in more than a week ago, Wake County Sheriff Gerald Baker has followed through on his promise to end the county’s participation in the federal 287(g) program.

Wake County had been one of only six in North Carolina that partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to transfer to federal custody people who have been arrested and are believed to be in the U.S. illegally.

Baker said he made the decision not to participate in the immigration program because he wants to see difference in the trust between law enforcement and Hispanic communities.

“At this point, the sheriff is not going to be honoring those requests of detaining individuals from ICE,” legal advisor Rick Brown said.

Just two weeks after Baker was sworn in, 16 people under ICE detainers have been released after either serving their standard time or posting bond.

An additional 79 people remain in custody on state charges, but the sheriff said he will not honor those ICE detainers either.

We know nothing about any of these illegals and what their crimes were, but we start with a basic one: they are unlawfully present in the U.S., a federal offense.

ICE has gone on record responding to Baker’s stance, saying his decision will not decrease its presence in Wake County.

“In fact, residents should expect a more visible ICE presence in the Raleigh-Durham area, as ICE will now have no choice but to conduct more at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at work sites,” ICE said in a statement.

ICE also said that collateral arrests should be expected as a result of increased arrests in neighborhoods and worksites.

That is not an idle threat. It’s not a threat. It’s a promise. We’ve seen ICE do this in many areas that want to get frisky and play the “a detainer is a request, not a judge’s order, so we’ll release the illegal, regardless of what their crime is.”

Perhaps some of the illegals are the nice ones who did not do anything more than have a DUI or something. Or, perhaps they have been charged with raping a 13 year old girl. Or committed hit and run. Committed statutory rape. Had more than a pound of cocaine. How about one deported 10 times charged with rape? Those are just a few examples of illegals arrested in Raleigh. The area surrounding Raleigh is a hotbed for illegals.

Next up is Sheriff Baker, Democrats, Dem activists, and the news media whining about ICE making all sorts of very visible arrests and raids and scooping up tons of illegals.

Nancy Pelosi, Surrounded By Armed Security, Promises Swift Action On Restricting Gun Rights Of Lawful Citizens

‘Boldly and Decisively’: Pelosi Promises Swift Action on ‘Commonsense’ Gun Control

Democrats will act “boldly” to bring “commonsense” gun control reforms to the table, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement.

“The new Democratic majority will act boldly and decisively to pass commonsense, life-saving background checks that are overwhelmingly supported by the American people,” Pelosi said, Politico reported Monday.

With Pelosi’s support, Democrats coalesced to create a gun reform proposal that would require federal background checks on all gun sales, including private sales, Politico reported.

They have this in California. Yet, they still have shootings, lots of them, in uber-Stateist California. This type of bill won’t stop anything. Virtually no shooting occur due to a private transfer with no background check. As Splinter notes

That’s well and good for the House, but given the newly bolstered Republican majority in the Senate, it’s safe to assume that any gun control legislation will be effectively dead on arrival once it reaches the upper chamber, to say nothing of the Trump White House.

Of course, this is just the beginning, and, interestingly, nothing that the Democrats have trotted out or even just thrown against the wall goes after criminals who use gun illegally. Nor criminals who illegally possess guns. Nor criminals. Everything is aimed at law abiding citizens. I’m looking forward to the Dems over-reaching.
