Colonisation of the Americas at the end of the 15th Century killed so many people, it disturbed Earth’s climate.

That’s the conclusion of scientists from University College London, UK.

The team says the disruption that followed European settlement led to a huge swathe of abandoned agricultural land being reclaimed by fast-growing trees and other vegetation.

This pulled down enough carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) from the atmosphere to eventually chill the planet.

It’s a cooling period often referred to in the history books as the “Little Ice Age” – a time when winters in Europe would see the Thames in London regularly freeze over.

“The Great Dying of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas led to the abandonment of enough cleared land that the resulting terrestrial carbon uptake had a detectable impact on both atmospheric COâ‚‚ and global surface air temperatures,” Alexander Koch and colleagues write in their paper published in Quaternary Science Reviews.

There’s absolutely nothing the CoC won’t do and say to uphold their cultish beliefs.

Science Must Discusses Social Justice In Regards To ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Just an FYI: I see no point in discussing the blamestorming of the current cold snap by all the Warmists yet again, as they manufacture a way to blame Mankind’s CO2 output for creating warmth which creates cold. Cold waves that have been happening for way longer than Mankind has been around. Let’s look at why this really isn’t a science at all

To tackle climate change, share burden — and benefits

If you look at the permalink, you can see that the original headline was toned down from “Science must join with social policy evolution to battle climate change”, which says it all: this is all activism science from a far left point of view

Even as climate change reaches new and terrifying levels, hope remains — but the time to act is now.

Terrifying to whom? The climate has always changed.

That was the message Professor Daniel M. Kammen brought to a lecture in the Undiscovered Science series at Radcliffe Institute on Monday. Even before he began his talk, “An Energy Plan the Earth Can Live With,” he took a moment to stress the problem’s scope.

“We are at a point where a call for ‘a just transition’ is more accurate than ‘an energy plan,’” said Kammen, the Class of 1935 Distinguished Professor of Energy and chair of the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley. “We have to make this great energy transition, but we are moving too slowly.”

The clock is ticking. Last October, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, issued a statement about the need to hold additional global warming to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius. (Humans have already warmed the planet 1 degree Celsius.) But as emerging economies pursue growth and the Trump administration denies climate change, that objective is growing increasingly elusive.

During his address, Kammen, who has been the coordinating lead author for the IPCC since 1999 and is a professor in the Goldman School of Public Policy and its Department of Nuclear Engineering, not only spoke of the scientific advances that can make such goals achievable, but addressed the social and policy evolution that must go hand in hand with the technology.

So, someone who has a lot at stake in pushing ‘climate change’ doom wants to further scare people into far left politics. Huh.

In America, Kammen said a “Green New Deal” must lead to a “much bigger discussion about equity.” For example, although 16 states have passed laws to enable alternative clean energies, too often these simply focus on subsidizing changes made by homeowners, he said. The efforts also tend to target only one group, viewed as more likely to modify or build for energy efficiency.

“Even when you control for income, solar is 30 percent to 40 percent more prevalent in white/Caucasian-dominated” communities, Kammen said. And since such legislation relies on taxpayer money, in effect it “borrows money from all to pay those who are better off,” he said. The result is alternative energy inequality. Though the laws are well-meaning, they ignore the exponentially higher price communities of color pay in terms of health and wellness because of climate change.

We’ve completely left the realm of science. But, that happened long ago.

Virginia Governor Floats Allowing Just Born Babies To Die

I never found the time to follow up on the story of a Democratic bill in Virginia that would allow babies to be aborted right up to birth (I often have pre-written posts from the morning which I can post in a few minutes using my phone). This is nuts, and something that should end up in the ads of not just every Virginia Republican, but Republicans nationwide, highlighting what the abortion supporters in the Democratic Party really stand for

(Daily Caller) Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam couldn’t precisely answer whether he supports abortion until birth and suggested an infant could be born and then the mother and doctor could discuss what should happen next, in a Wednesday morning interview.

“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” Northam said in a WTOP interview.

Aborting a baby after it has been born is illegal.

His comments come after Democratic Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran introduced HB 2491, or the Repeal Act, in January. The legislation seeks to repeal the state’s current restrictions on late-term abortions. The bill would allow a doctor to perform an abortion when a woman is dilating, meaning she is about to give birth.

The Democratic Virginia delegate who has recently come under fire for sponsoring a bill in the Virginia House of Delegates that would allow the termination of a pregnancy up to 40 weeks old, is also the chief patron of a bill that would protect the lives of “fall cankerworms” during certain months.

Democratic Virginia Del. Kathy Tran introduced “House Bill No. 2495 – Fall cankerworm; spraying prohibited during certain months” on Jan. 9, the same day as “House Bill No. 2491 — Abortion; eliminate certain requirements.”

Democrats have some seriously f*cked up priorities.

ICE Set Up Fake University To Catch Visa Overstayers

Many who are against illegal immigration have noted that we also need to make a big push against those who overstay their visas, as, if reports are to be believed, 45% of the illegals present have overstayed the visas. We do not need to just go after those who crossed the border illegally

The Department of Homeland Security set up a fake university in Farmington Hills to target foreign students who wanted to stay in the U.S. without proper authorization, according to federal indictments unsealed in Detroit on Wednesday.

Eight people were arrested and indicted in an immigration fraud case for conspiracy to commit visa fraud and harboring aliens for profit, said the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan Matthew Schneider.

Six of them were arrested in metro Detroit, one in Florida and another in Virginia. The students enrolled at the fake university with the intent to obtain jobs under a student visa program called CPT (Curricular Practical Training) that allows students to work in the U.S., said prosecutors.

An indictment says the defendants helped at least 600 “foreign citizens to illegally remain, re-enter and work in the United States and actively recruited them to enroll in a fraudulent school as part of a ‘pay to stay’ scheme.”

The indictments were filed Jan. 15 and unsealed Wednesday. They allege that from February 2017 through January 2019, the defendants “conspired with each other and others to fraudulently facilitate hundreds of foreign nationals in illegally remaining and working in the United States by actively recruiting them to enroll into a metro Detroit private university that, unbeknownst to the conspirators, was operated by HSI (Homeland Security Investigation) special agents as part of an undercover operation.”

HSI is an investigative arm of U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), part of the Department of Homeland Security.

But, it’s not just the eight (who are named further in the article) who are being targeted, and definitely should have been targeted. I’ve long stated that there should be a push to target those who do things like offer jobs for illegals as well as support and aid illegals, as well as those saying they will protect illegals, all of which entices them to come illegally.

The indictments and arrests have drawn the attention of the American Telugu Association, which is a group of Americans with roots in Telugu-speaking areas of India. The Association said that about 100 students have been arrested and others are facing arrest warrants. The group said on its Facebook page that it is trying to help affected students and has met with Indian consular officials in the U.S. about the case.

All of them should face arrest and deportation.

And for those railing against Trump (and many are in the Tweets)

This is not the first time that federal authorities have created a fake university to nab foreign students in the U.S. The Department of Homeland Security once created the University of Northern New Jersey as part of a sting operation targeting students who enrolled in order to work and study in the U.S., according to a New York Times report in 2016.

Obama did it, too.

Virginia Democrats Look To Expend Abortion Right Up To Birth

VA CONSIDERING BILL LEGALIZING ABORTION UNTIL 40 WEEKS IN PREGNANCY

Virginia is considering a bill allowing women to abort their unborn child until the moment the baby is born.

Democratic Delegate Kathy Tran introduced HB2491, or the Repeal Act, which seeks to repeal the state’s current restrictions on late-term abortions. If passed, the measure will do away with the state’s requirement that second and third-trimester abortions be performed only to preserve the health or life of the woman. A woman seeking to abort would no longer need to obtain an ultrasound before having an abortion, under the proposed law.

Currently, three physicians must conclude that a third-trimester abortion is necessary to preserve the health or life of the woman. Those requirements are stripped under the proposed legislation, which also removes the state’s mandate that second and third-trimester abortions be performed in hospitals.

“The third trimester goes all the way up to forty weeks,” according to Tran, The Republican Standard reported. The bill would allow a doctor to perform an abortion when a woman is dilating, meaning she is about to give birth.

Surprise: NY Times Links Current Freezing Conditions To ‘Climate Change’

It’s not that bad here in Raleigh. The temp gauge shows 26, though a bit chillier with the wind chill, and will be colder tomorrow. This happens. It does get cold in the South. We call it “winter”. It’s annoying because I live right next to the Neuse River, hence more moisture in the air, hence that really thin annoying hard to get off frost on the windows and mirrors. But, in the age of Climastrology, Warmists blame even worse cold on ‘climate change’

It’s worth a trip through Tom Nelson’s timeline for more of the Warmist crazy. Then there’s Somini Sengupta at the NY Times, with a front page article. Usually this kind of thing is in the opinion section

U.S. Midwest Freezes, Australia Burns: This Is the Age of Weather Extremes

In Chicago, officials warned about the risk of almost instant frostbite on what could be the city’s coldest day ever. Warming centers opened around the Midwest. And schools and universities closed throughout the region as rare polar winds streamed down from the Arctic.

At the same time, on the other side of the planet, wildfires raged in Australia’s record-breaking heat. Soaring air-conditioner use overloaded electrical grids and caused widespread power failures. The authorities slowed and canceled trams to save power. Labor leaders called for laws that would require businesses to close when temperatures reached hazardous levels: nearly 116 degrees Fahrenheit, as was the case last week in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.

This is weather in the age of extremes. It comes on top of multiple extremes, all kinds, in all kinds of places.

It’s winter in the U.S., summer in Australia. Oh, hey, remember when Warmists would say that the U.S. is only 2% of the Earth’s surface, so when weather happens that doesn’t support the Cult’s beliefs it’s immaterial? Those are mostly gone. Now that blame one of the biggest cold outbreaks in decades on you driving a fossil fueled vehicle.

Somini forgot to mention that the Aussie grid collapsed due to reliance on so much of “renewables.”

“When something happens — whether it’s a cold snap, a wildfire, a hurricane, any of those things — we need to think beyond what we have seen in the past and assume there’s a high probability that it will be worse than anything we’ve ever seen,” said Crystal A. Kolden, an associate professor at the University of Idaho, who specializes in wildfires and who is currently working in Tasmania during one of the state’s worst fire seasons.

So, that really nice spring day when you took your significant other out for a wonderful lunch is a sign of complete doom. Because everything is a sign of doom in Warmist World. All these weather “extremes” have happened before, and will happen again.

Consider these recent examples: Heat records were toppled from Norway to Algeria last year. In Australia, a drought has gone on so long that a child in kindergarten will hardly have seen rain in her lifetime. And California saw its most ruinous wildfires ever in 2018, triggering a bankruptcy filing this week by the state’s largest utility, Pacific Gas and Electric.

The wildfires were man-caused, but not due to heat. Due to incompetence with transmission lines and other machines, as well as poor forest management.

Is it climate change?

Heat and drought extremes are consistent with scientific consensus: More greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere bring a greater likelihood of abnormally high temperatures. Also, broadly speaking, scientists say, a hotter planet makes extreme weather more frequent and more intense.

Once you say consensus, you’re no longer talking science. You’re into politics. And the key here is that they are blaming

About 20 tons of gold from Venezuela’s central bank was ready to be hauled away Tuesday on a Russian airline’s Boeing 777 that landed in Caracas a day earlier, a Venezuelan lawmaker wrote on Twitter.

The destination of the $840 million in gold bars was unknown, but a source told Bloomberg News that it represented about 20 percent of the country’s holding of the metal. The gold was set aside for loading, the report said.

The news outlet, which first reported on the tweet, identified the lawmaker as Jose Guerra. The lawmaker did not provide evidence for his claim but is identified in the report as a former economist at the country’s central bank with close ties to workers still there.

Noticias Venezuela, a news outlet in the country, posted a photo of what it identified as a Nordwind Airlines plane from Moscow that made the trip with only a crew aboard.

How much food could that gold purchase? How about the other 80%? Venezuela reportedly owes Russia billions, but, might they take care of the starving citizens first? Nope. Everything that is going on in the nation highlights exactly the way Socialism works, and this is what U.S. Democrats want here. Venezuela is a nation that should be rich from all their oil. Instead it is a complete sh*t show.
