ZOMG: Trump Is Skeptical About Autonomous Vehicles!!!!!

Why is this even a story? What’s the Trump Derangement Syndrome angle?

Trump has privately voiced skepticism about driverless cars: report

President Trump has reportedly expressed skepticism on more than one occasion about the move toward self-driving cars.

Axios, citing four sources who’ve heard him discuss the subject, reported on Sunday that Trump doesn’t see the usefulness of autonomous vehicles. He has also reportedly said that he would never let a computer-operated car drive him.

“He’s definitely an automated car skeptic,” one source told Axios.

President Trump’s concerns about autonomous vehicles are not unusual. A survey released last week by AAA found that 71 percent of Americans are afraid of riding in a driverless car.

They’re trying to make fun of Trump over this, but, the survey doesn’t help. Let me tell you, as someone who is constantly testing different brands with some of the sensing packages, and I have it in my own car, I wouldn’t trust one, either. The whole “privately” thing is meant to paint Trump is a kook, though.

The Axios report also says that Trump has acted out scenes of what are supposed to be frenetic autonomous vehicles to make his point that they don’t make sense. He has reportedly acted out these scenes on Air Force One and in the White House.

“You know when he’s telling a story, and he does the hand motions,” one source told Axios. “He says, ‘Can you imagine, you’re sitting in the back seat and all of a sudden this car is zig-zagging around the corner and you can’t stop the f—ing thing?’”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

See? Despite most people doing that with their hands, it’s an attempt to make Trump look kooky and a technophobe and hates science, especially with the “White House didn’t respond” schtick. Why would they? This is a nothingburger. This is the Credentialed Media.

The Green New Deal Isn’t Global Enough Or Something

The Cult of Climastrology wants U.S. dollars flowing elsewhere

The Green New Deal Isn’t Global Enough

At the fourth United Nations Environment Assembly in Kenya this past week, experts and officials from around the world debated how to come up with the investment and innovation needed for countries to grow without dooming the planet. National leaders, NGOs and others discussed, among other things, how to create more “sustainable patterns of consumption and production.” What really struck me in Nairobi, though, was what wasn’t discussed: the Green New Deal being pushed by Democratic Party politicians in the U.S.

This is surprising, in a way: It was the United Nations Environment Programme that first called for a “Global Green New Deal” in 2009, hoping to revive the world economy through investment in climate change-related sectors.

That extra word, “global,” suggests why international players today aren’t terribly enthused by the Democrats’ plan. The program — or what little of it can be adduced from what’s now largely a slogan — is focused entirely on green investment in the U.S. The basic notion that climate change is a global problem that requires a global solution seems to have been forgotten. (snip)

By contrast, a global low-carbon transition will require laying claim to resources that are productively employed in carbon-intensive sectors of the economy. It will be expensive. It will require sacrifice. And resources will need to flow more freely across national borders.(snip)

This group will have to sacrifice something if climate change is to be stopped. The truth is that the resources that Democrats want the U.S. government to appropriate and use domestically need instead to flow elsewhere in the world. That valuable finance and capacity is needed to help the developing world pay for cities that don’t stress the planet, to protect those who are losing livelihoods and homes because of climate change, and to ensure that everyone in the world has access to reliable, affordable and clean energy.

Funny how the leftist notion of redistribution (usually of Other People’s money) constantly comes into play, eh?

In Wake Of New Zealand Shooting, Nation Looks To Ban Semi-Automatic Weapons

Blaming the gun, rather than the people

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern expected to announce gun law changes following mosque shootings

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is expected to announce a ban on military-style semi-automatic weapons and tighter controls on gun ownership following a Cabinet meeting tomorrow that will focus entirely on the Christchurch mosque shootings.

Ardern has been firm that the country’s gun laws will change following the attacks on two mosques on Friday in which 50 people were killed.

She is also expected to announce a review of any failings of security agencies in the lead-up to the attacks.

Australian man Brenton Tarrant has been charged with murder over the shootings of worshippers at mosques in Linwood and Riccarton.

Ardern indicated she had the support of Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters for the changes, despite previous strong opposition from New Zealand First on the issue of tighter gun control.

“As I’ve already indicated, there will be changes to our gun laws. We will be discussing the more detailed policy at Cabinet tomorrow. Of course I’ve had conversations directly with the Deputy Prime Minister, as you would expect,” Ardern told reporters today.

But, are they looking to ban the scary looking rifles, which are exactly the same as the non-scary looking ones, or all semi-automatic rifles?

Surprise: World Socialists Are Super Enthused By Climate Kids Walkout

I’m not going to beat this one to death, but who is surprised by the World Socialist Web Site, which is published by the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI) (go look that one up) were happy as a pig in you know what over the kiddies walking out in protest of a tiny increase in the world temperature?

Youth at global climate protests speak out on capitalism, socialism and scientific planning

Ladan, 18, who had left classes at her school in Oxfordshire, told the WSWS, “Me and my friend really care about climate change and have wanted to do something about it for so long. If we don’t do something soon, we won’t have another opportunity.”

Asked why so many young people had come to the demonstration, Ladan’s 16-year-old friend Lucy said, “A lot is due to social media. It’s much easier to access and find an answer. There are so many accounts that advocate doing something about what is wrong. People are realizing that capitalism and money aren’t the most important things anymore.

“Capitalism is responsible for climate change because capitalists want to find the cheapest solution to sell things to people.”

Four students from the Tunbridge Wells Bennett Memorial School held up banners declaring, “We are the revolution for the solution” and “Change the government. Not the climate.” They told the WSWS that they thought climate change is the biggest problem for young people. (snip)

“This planet is one thing we have all got in common. And it is being ruined by capitalism for the sake of profit. It is going downhill so quickly. (snip)

One of the students declared, “The two-party system is not working anymore.” Another said, “I’m proposing a democratic form of socialism, where there isn’t the one percent that controls 60 percent of the wealth anymore.”

You get the idea. But there is plenty, plenty more at the website. Kinda clues you in what this is really about.

BTW, I love the complaints about capitalism with capitalist created clothes shipped by capitalist created companies with a picture from a capitalist created smartphone.

NJ Teen Sues For Being Denied Entrance Into Colleges Due To Bribery Scandal

There’s a couple of interesting nuggets in here

I ended up at Rutgers because the rich kids stole my spot at other schools, N.J teen says

A Rutgers University honors student who had a near-perfect SAT score claims in a class-action lawsuit that he didn’t get a fair shake when he applied to the University of Texas and Stanford in the wake of a massive college bribery scandal that involved some of the country’s most elite universities.

Nicholas James Johnson, a Middlesex County resident, is a plaintiff in an amended complaint filed Thursday in federal court in northern California. (snip)

Nicholas James Johnson claims when he applied to the University of Texas at Austin and Stanford University, he had an SAT score of 1500 out of 1600 and a 4.65 GPA. He said in the lawsuit that he was a varsity hockey player and the star of his school’s math team. The suit does not mention where Johnson attended high school.

The two paid $50 to $100 per application to each of the schools, according to the lawsuit.

“At the time of the application, neither James Johnson nor Nicholas James Johnson was aware of the college bribery scandal and the unfair admissions process,” the lawsuit states.

Getting beyond the notion that someone with that score and GPA could probably get into quite a few other prestigious schools, and even getting scholarships, what’s up with the application fees? Maybe I never knew about it, but I don’t remember paying a fee to apply to colleges back in the mid-1980’s. That’s a pretty good racket for these colleges mostly run by Democrats, staffed with Democrats, and chock full of Democrat voting teachers. How much money did they take in for people they turned down?

And being unfair? Democrat run.

Perhaps, though, Johnson and so many other college age teens should sue for being denied a spot at an institution of higher learning because it was given to an illegal alien. How many have lost spots because an illegal obtained it, often getting all sorts of financial aid from Democrat voting cities and states?

UN General Secretary Calls For Emergency Climate Summit In Response To Some Kids Blowing Off School Or Something

Why is a summit necessary? We were told that the Paris Climate Agreement was historic and super mega awesome and would solve the issue. No? What will solve it are hundreds of people taking fossil fueled flights to tell us that fossil fuels, and capitalism, are bad? This is António Guterres, the General Secretary of U.N.

The climate strikers should inspire us all to act at the next UN summit

Tens of thousands of young people took to the streets on Friday with a clear message to world leaders: act now to save our planet and our future from the climate emergency.

These schoolchildren have grasped something that seems to elude many of their elders: we are in a race for our lives, and we are losing. The window of opportunity is closing – we no longer have the luxury of time, and climate delay is almost as dangerous as climate denial.

My generation has failed to respond properly to the dramatic challenge of climate change. This is deeply felt by young people. No wonder they are angry.

Thankfully, we have the Paris agreement – a visionary, viable, forward-looking policy framework that sets out exactly what needs to be done to stop climate disruption and reverse its impact. But the agreement itself is meaningless without ambitious action.

That is why I am bringing world leaders together at a climate action summit later this year. I am calling on all leaders to come to New York in September with concrete, realistic plans to enhance their nationally determined contributions by 2020, in line with reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% over the next decade, and to net zero by 2050.

The summit will bring together governments, the private sector, civil society, local authorities and other international organisations to develop ambitious solutions in six areas: renewable energy; emission reductions; sustainable infrastructure; sustainable agriculture and management of forests and oceans; withstanding climate impacts; and investing in the green economy.

So, we have the Paris agreement, but it was apparently worthless, so they’ll bring together all these people who take long fossil fueled (and mostly taxpayer funded) trips to yap about ‘climate change’ just a few months after they had a big meeting in Poland, the yearly UN IPCC meeting.

This means ending subsidies for fossil fuels and high-emitting agriculture and shifting towards renewable energy, electric vehicles and climate-smart practices. It means carbon pricing that reflects the true cost of emissions, from climate risk to the health hazards of air pollution. And it means accelerating the closure of coal plants and replacing jobs with healthier alternatives so that the transformation is just, inclusive and profitable.

How much in the way of fossil fuels will be used for this meeting? And, of course they want more taxes/fees.

It’s not necessarily for communism, but it’s certainly for destroying capitalism. Go read the signs. Read more on Twitter and Instagram and such.

It is funny, though. Despite all the hysteria on this, in most Democrat leaning cities around the U.S. you weren’t getting more than a couple dozen, maybe 100 students showing up. Heck, many had less. Here in Raleigh, not one news outlet (WRAL, WNCT, WTVD, News and Observer, Spectrum News) bothered to cover the protests here or in Durham nor Chapel Hill. I’m told they were tiny. Across New Jersey the protests were rather tiny. There are also a whole lot of adults appearing at the marches.

And a whole lot of fossil fuels were used to get the kiddies to the demonstrations, along with lots of wooden sign holders made from murdered CO2 sucking trees.

Damn, that’s a pretty white crowd appropriating the Black Power fist.

Obviously, The Washington Post Editorial Board Is Unhappy With Trump’s Message To New Zealand

Jump back in time to 2006, when George W. Bush was president. The Washington Post ran an article entitled The Left, Online and Outraged. It was all about how leftist bloggers (remember, blogging was really getting going not long before this) were Outraged at Bush, how they would wake up, grab a non-alcoholic beer and a cigarette, and think about how they could attack Bush and his associates. It really paints them in a deranged light.

Sounds like what the Washington Post Editorial Board is doing these days

Trump sends the wrong message on New Zealand. World leaders must denounce the attack.

THE UNSPEAKABLE carnage in New Zealand must be called out by its proper name: a terrorist attack by a white-nationalist bigot consumed by Islamophobia and impelled by the fervid extremism that suffuses the Internet’s darkest crevices.

The alleged gunman’s garden-variety racism — his rantings about the peril posed to whites faced with “replacement” by Muslims — is of a piece with other hatreds espoused by other racist killers in other places and times. That he spent his days slinking through online cesspools and communing with like-minded social networks gives his crime a postmodern gloss.

Not mentioned are his rantings about the wonders of socialism, government paying for everything, and loves China’s political system of communism. This wackjob was really all over the place.

Still, it’s critical that world leaders clearly and precisely denounce this ghoulish act. An attack on mosques, as on any place of worship, is especially sinister and dangerous. Online racists lionized the murderer as a hero and cheered his killing spree as he streamed it live. In fact, he is a monster who slaughtered innocent people — parents and children, the old and the young.

President Trump is not to blame for the tragedy, despite his own history of Islamophobic statements and a travel ban that targets predominantly Muslim nations. Still, he should go further than he has; for starters, by condemning the alleged killer, whose nativist rhetoric — he called immigrants “invaders,” attacked “mass immigration” and wrote that he hoped to “directly reduce immigration rates” — overlaps with the president’s own. On Friday, Mr. Trump cited an “invasion” of immigrants to justify his national emergency declaration to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

First, here’s what Trump tweeted out

There’s also a tweet about speaking with New Zealand’s president and offering America’s help. He was sympathetic, instead of offering the anger the TDS infused WPEB wants, but, let’s be real, had Trump come out angry and denounced the killer, the WPEB would have found a way to have an issue with that.

Second, it’s cute the way they manage to drag in protecting our borders and nation from uninvited people who cross our borders/overstay their visas. Remember, liberals aren’t for Open Borders, though!

Third, let’s also remember that liberals, including at the Washington Post, tend to protect radical Islam after each Islamic terrorist attack. They freak out when Muslims are asked to denounce the attacks. They say that the attacks have nothing to do with Islam, despite the jihadis stating this has everything to do with Islam. They run articles about Muslims being afraid of the backlash, and for people to not engage in Islamophobia. It’s an interesting standard, eh?
