Comrade de Blasio Becomes 24th Democrat To Run For President

Dude can’t even keep the subways running correctly, but, he can ban horse carriages and use 357 pronouns for the gender confused

De Blasio launches presidential campaign

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio (D) launched his presidential campaign on Thursday, joining a crowded field of Democratic contenders.

“I will take on the wealthy. I will take on the big corporations. I will not rest until this government serves working people. As mayor of the largest city in America, I’ve done just that,” he said in a video announcing the launch of his campaign.

“Donald Trump must be stopped,” he added. “I’ve beaten him before and I’ll do it again.”

De Blasio has cast himself as a progressive during his two terms as mayor, railing against income inequality, touting the benefits of the Green New Deal and feuding with New York’s centrist governor Andrew Cuomo (D).

He is expected to emphasize his mayoral accomplishments during the presidential campaign, including the creation of universal pre-kindergarten and raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, according to news reports.

The video is hilarious, if you can take all 3 minutes. His yammering about ‘climate change’ is particularly silly

Here’s the cover of today’s NY Post

The Post editorial board lists a whole bunch of reasons why his candidacy is a complete farce. You also have his failed New York Works program. Many, many, many, have highlighted what a hypocrite he is on ‘climate change’, and wasted lots of NYC taxpayer money on Hotcoldwetdry related lawsuits. And Carol Markowitz notes that “do as I say, not as I do” on climate change and other issues is the norm for Comrade Bill. Welcome to the gladiator pit, Bill.

White House Tells Democrat Run House Committee To Pound Sand On Document Request

Democrats lost on the Mueller report. No collusion, no conspiracy, no obstruction. It found that not one American was involved in a conspiracy with Russia. But, Democrats just won’t give up

White House refuses House Judiciary’s request for documents

The White House has rejected a sweeping request from the House Judiciary Committee for documents, suggesting the panel is attempting a “do-over” of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) hit back at the administration on Wednesday, calling its response “ridiculous” after White House counsel Pat Cipollone sent a letter telling the panel to narrow the scope of its investigation.

“It appears that the Committee’s inquiry is designed, not to further a legitimate legislative purpose, but rather to conduct a pseudo law enforcement investigation on matters that were already the subject of the Special Counsel’s long-running investigation and are outside the constitutional authority of the legislative branch,” Cipollone asserted in a 12-page letter.

The White House lawyer accused the panel of “harassing and seeking to embarrass political opponents after an exhaustive two-year investigation by the Department of Justice did not reach the conclusion that some members of the Committee apparently would have preferred.”

Nadler had requested a trove of documents from the White House in early March as part of his committee’s probe into allegations of obstruction, public corruption and abuses of power by President Trump and members of his inner circle.

Cipollone is 100% correct. Requesting the documents serves no legitimate purpose of Congressional oversight, it is a Trump Derangement Syndrome probe, one that was already done.

“It would greatly advance the first step in that process if the Committee were to narrow the sweeping scope of the requests in the letter and articulate the legislative purpose and legal support for each of the disparate requests it wishes to pursue, including by addressing each of the legal deficiencies that I raise in this letter,” Cipollone added.

Nadler won’t, as he would have to admit the real purpose, which is a witch hunt, nothing more, nothing less. This may play well with the unhinged Democrat base and some other nutter elected Democrats, but, it won’t help in the general election, and could well hurt.

Your Burger Habit Could Make Trees Live Fast And Die Young Or Something

Hot take alert, because the Cult of Climastrology always has to have some sort of new doomy prognostication of doom

Climate change may make trees live fast and die young

Everyone from governments to oil companies is looking at tree-planting as a way to counter global warming, but this strategy could be less effective than we thought.

In a warming world with growing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, researchers have hypothesised that trees will grow faster. But this isn’t necessarily a good thing. Faster-growing trees may live shorter lives, reducing the amount of time they lock carbon away for.

Now data is beginning to suggest that this is the case. Ulf Büntgen of the University of Cambridge and his colleagues have looked at tree ring records going back 2,000 years, and found that the longest-lived trees were those with the slowest growth rates.

“We find that if a tree grows fast in its initial stage, there is a high probability that it will die younger,” he says.

The team studied 1800 trees, all of which were mountain pines from the Spanish Pyrenees or Siberian larch from the Russian Altai region, which can live up to about 800 years. In a warmer world with more carbon dioxide, however, these trees might live just 150 years after growing rapidly.

So, um, what kinds of fossil fueled vehicles were they driving back 2,000 years ago? Oh, right, right, that was then, this is now, and why are you asking so many questions? You must hate life on Earth.

I’m sure we can fix this all with a tax, right?

Gun Grabber Kamala Harris Plans To Ban Import Of Scary Looking Rifles

Every Democrat running has to pander heavily to the base, and pander she shall

Kamala Harris wants ban on importing AR-15-style assault weapons

Kamala Harris wants to ban the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons by executive action if elected president.

On Wednesday, the Democratic senator from California is set to detail her proposal to stop importing the weapons until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives can analyze whether the ban should be permanent.

On Wednesday, the Democratic senator from California is set to detail her proposal to stop importing the weapons until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives can analyze whether the ban should be permanent.

I dont think this will cause a spike in gun sales, because she has little chance of winning the nomination at this time. But, it does show where the minds of the gun grabbers are. We now await the NY Times and other outlets to decry her use of executive power to limit citizen’s Rights.

Say, Is ‘Climate Change’ Causing Problems With Home Values Near The Sea?

Spoiler alert: no, it isn’t

Are Coastal Home Values Feeling Drag of Climate Change?

For sale: waterfront property with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. Waves erode beach regularly. Flooding gets worse every year. Saltwater damage to lawn.

Asking price: anyone’s guess.

Some research suggests rising sea levels and flooding brought by global warming are harming coastal property values. But other climate scientists note shortcomings in the studies, and real estate experts say they simply haven’t seen any ebb in demand for coastal homes.

So how much homeowners and communities should worry, and how much they should invest in remedies, remains an open question.

Climate scientists should probably consult with real estate experts. Take a look at sites like Zillow, and you’ll see that properties near the shores are doing just fine.

Nearby, Denis Champagne can’t be sure that rising seas are hurting his waterfront home’s value. The three-story, four-bedroom home has views of a scenic marsh, has been renovated and is blocks from the ocean — yet was assessed around $420,000.

“Do I feel that it should be worth more than that?” Champagne said recently in his sun-soaked living room. “I mean, I’m biased, but where can you find this for that price — anywhere?”

Massachusetts has three official NOAA tide gauges, which show .93 feet over 100 years (Boston), .94 feet over 100 years (Woods Hole), and 1.21 feet over 100 years, the last being an island, and, really, right at what the average should be during a Holocene warm period. None show acceleration or anything unusual.

A drop in home values could shatter a community like Salisbury, which relies almost exclusively on beachfront real estate taxes to fund schools, police and other basic services, researchers warn. And, they say, families could face financial ruin if they’ve been banking on their home’s value to help foot the bill for pricey college tuitions or retirement.

“People are looking at losing tens of thousands of dollars of relative value on their homes,” said Jeremy Porter, a data scientist for the First Street Foundation, which describes itself as a “not-for-profit organization of digitally driven advocates for sea level rise solutions” on its Facebook page. “Not everyone can sustain that.”

Still, home prices in coastal cities have been rising faster than those of their landlocked counterparts since 2010, according to data provided by the National Association of Realtors.

It’s great when they throw cold water on the cold water of ‘climate change’ doom.

And waterfront homes are still generally more expensive than their peers just one block inland, said Lawrence Yun, the association’s chief economist.

“The price differential is still there,” he said. “Consumers are clearly mindful that these climate change impacts could be within the window of a 30-year mortgage, but their current behavior still implies that to have a view of the ocean is more desirable.”

Essentially, most people do not care, and arean’t buying into the scaremongering.

GOP Amps Up Attack On Tlaib’s Anti-Israel Comments

What level is “amp up”? Pouncing? Seizing? Respond? And what would the defense of an Israel hater be called?

Republicans amp up attacks on Tlaib’s Holocaust comments

The war of words over race and anti-Semitism is heating up on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers in both parties launched new salvos Tuesday in the escalating uproar over recent comments from Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) invoking the Holocaust.

House Republicans fired shots at the Michigan freshman and her party defenders, accusing Democrats of whitewashing sentiments that GOP lawmakers have portrayed as anti-Semitic.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) have responded in kind, denouncing Tlaib’s critics for twisting her message in an effort to divide the party and win the favor of Jewish voters, who have long flocked to the Democrats’ side.

Other top Democrats joined in defending Tlaib on Tuesday.

“Rep. Tlaib has been purposefully slandered by the President and other Republicans with her comments deliberately taken out of context and mischaracterized,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), one of the most powerful Jewish lawmakers, said in a statement. “It is clear from the full quote that she was not making any antisemitic reference.”

The bitter back-and-forth marked the latest development in the ongoing debate over Israel and Congress’s approach to its longtime Middle East ally. That dynamic took on new dimensions this year with the arrival of two outspoken Muslim women — Tlaib and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) — on Capitol Hill.

Lots and lots of Democrats are defending her comments. Now, many will say that she is just a buffoon who spoke out on an issue in which she was ill-informed, getting it wrong

The GOP outcry follows Tlaib’s recent interview with Yahoo News’s “Skullduggery” podcast, in which she denounced the lost lives, forced migrations and other hardships suffered by some Palestinians when Israel was created after World War II. Tlaib, the first Palestinian American to serve in Congress, couched her remarks by adding that she also experiences a “calming feeling” in considering that the political upheaval helped “create a safe haven for Jews” after years of “tragedy and horrific persecution,” including the Holocaust.

But, she has a history of anti-Israel sentiment, as well as anti-Jew sentiment. The recent comment is not isolated. And could well be a belief, in the same way that so many Islamists hold on to the belief that 9/11 was an Israeli plot. Heck, this is exactly the kind of thing that the SJWs would term “unconscious bias.”

But, hey, the GOP is amping. And has fired shots. And there’s outcry. Which leads to

She gets to play the Victim Card because the Democrats and their pet media protect her.

Hot Take: Trump’s Grip On DOJ Doomed Meuller’s Investigation

Intercept “reporter” Jim Risen has a new conspiracy theory for why the Mueller investigation failed to end with Trump being frogmarched out of the White House. He actually started yapping about it back on the 7th, but, The Hill ran some video of this today. Leftist nutters will never give up on their nutbaggery

Did Donald Trump’s Grip on the Justice Department Sabotage Robert Mueller’s Investigation?

THROUGH HIS UNRELENTING efforts to obstruct the Trump-Russia investigation since its inception, President Donald Trump has inflicted a slow-motion Saturday Night Massacre on the American people, a constitutional nightmare that has lasted two years instead of one night.

And it is still going on, despite the fact that special counsel Robert Mueller has completed his investigation. Trump now has a willing lackey in Attorney General William Barr, who is aiding and abetting the president’s ongoing efforts to control the Justice Department and corrupt the country’s system of checks and balances. (snip)

Much of the carnage is documented in the second volume of the Mueller report, which focuses on obstruction of justice. Mueller recounts Trump’s nonstop efforts to block the Trump-Russia investigation and details the firings, threats, and intimidation tactics Trump used to pressure key figures involved in the probe.

But Mueller may not have captured every aspect of Trump’s Saturday Night Massacre. That’s because Trump’s threats to fire the special counsel — combined with the president’s incessant public and private pressure on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the Justice Department official who supervised Mueller’s investigation — may have influenced both what is in the special counsel’s narrow and hesitant report, and what is conspicuously absent.

See, it was Trump who made Mueller find that there were no reasons to charge Trump with obstruction. And this line of thought keeps going and going and going. They just can’t admit that their attempted coup failed.

Overheated Planet: Who’s Up For May Snow?

So, weather happens

Winterlike weather pattern tightens grip on Northeast, unloading snow in some areas

Winter is making a mid-May comeback in the northeastern United States early this week as snow returned to some areas with cold and rainy weather in other parts of the region.

The air was even cold enough for snow to whiten the Catskill Mountains in southeastern New York and the Berkshires in western Massachusetts.

Slushy and slippery spots along the Massachusetts Turnpike in the Berkshires prompted officials to dramatically reduce the speed limit on Sunday. The trace of snow that fell in Albany, New York, on Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) said, was the latest snow to fall on a Mother’s Day since 1977, when Mother’s Day occurred on May 8.

And then

So, of course, it’s the fault of Trump and ‘climate change’
