David Attenborough Says We Need To Get Radical To Solve ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Sir David Attenborough makes some wonderful programs, does he not? Blue Planet was incredible, as are his others. Unfortunately, he’s gone 100% around the bend to become a Warmist. But, hey, in recommending we become radical, he’s going to tell people he’s given up his massive use of fossil fuels and energy to make all his documentaries, right? Because it takes a lot to travel around the world. And tell other Warmists to do the same, right?

David Attenborough on climate change: ‘We cannot be radical enough’

The UK must take radical action to meet its climate change targets, David Attenborough told a UK parliamentary committee today. But he warned ministers must carry the public with them because of the financial cost of meeting the goals.

“We cannot be radical enough in dealing with these issues,” he told MPs when asked if the UK should bring forward its new target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, as some campaigners have called for. But he said the real issue was what is politically possible.

“Because it costs money in realistic terms, dealing with these problems mean we have to change our lifestyles,” he told the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee. “The question of how fast we can go is how fast we can carry the electorate with us.” Getting to net zero within three decades was a “tough target” but he “hoped to goodness” the UK could achieve it.

Attenborough compared changing morality towards slavery in Britain in the nineteenth century to changing attitudes on climate change today. “I suspect we are right now in the beginning of a big change. Young people are the stimulus bringing that about,” he said.

Notice that this is all about, once again, empowering Government to force change on citizens, whether they want it or not. The use of slavery is intentional, designed to do the old “wrong side of history” schtick for those who oppose these forced changes. Of course, most in Britain were not opposed to doing away with slavery. Now, go ahead and run big polls, or, heck, put ‘climate change’ solutions up for a vote, noting how much it will cost and how much freedom it will take away, and see how that goes. Which is exactly why he wants Government Force involved.

In a wide-ranging hearing in parliament, he said climate change would cause “huge immigration” to the US and Europe in future, it will be a “sad day” if Donald Trump succeeds in withdrawing the US from Paris Agreement in 2020, and warned of future pressures on food production. “We are going to have to look for new sources of food unless we do something about population,” he said. The naturalist said his “most vivid” firsthand experience of climate change was seeing the damage it had wrought to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

And there’s the old “population reduction” belief for the extremists. Probably aimed at those “migrants”, who tend to be Africans and Middle Easterners.

Kids and young folks buying into this, sit back and think deeply on what it actually means politically and for your life. Set aside the scary prognostications for a moment, and wonder why all the policies take away your money, choice, and freedom and give it to Government.

Washington Post Wants Democrats To Stop Embracing Losing Issues To Beat Trump

Poor Richard Cohen. This dude infused with Trump Derangement Syndrome has finally realized that what the Democrats are running on doesn’t actually help in the focus on defeating Trump. And actually helps Trump win

Democrats, stop embracing losing issues and focus on getting rid of Trump

The bevy of Democrats running for president seems determined to test my silent vow never to vote Republican, especially for President Trump. The truth is that I cannot imagine that happening, but I can imagine entering the voting booth with about a colonoscopy level of enthusiasm. Please, can we get this over with?

At the moment, the party is squabbling over what is called forced busing to achieve school desegregation. It seems the party has forgotten that, with the possible exception of the Civil War draft, no program has been more hated by working-class Democrats — more whites than blacks, but plenty of blacks as well. In large U.S. cities, busing was seen as an effort by liberals to send white kids to schools they would not, for a moment, send their own kids to. In Boston, the spiritual home of the antibusing movement in the 1960s, the populace had not been as furious since King George III bivouacked his unwashed redcoats in the tidy homes of American patriots.

Yeah, that’s pretty much an issue that almost no one cares about, being 2019.

But the Democratic Party is on a tear. One by one, its candidates have embraced losing issue after losing issue. First came reparations for slavery, a noble idea lacking only popular support and practicality and possibly amounting to yet another attempt to right a wrong with money. Before that, the various candidates raised their hands in support of Medicare-for-all, which could strip millions of people of their private insurance plans. That is sure to be characterized by Trump as socialized medicine with the sick growing old and dying, covered in cobwebs while waiting to see the doctor. GOP strategists must be hyperventilating over all the goodies arrayed before them. This is a campaign even Trump could win.

The Democratic Party has a possibly fatal inability to prioritize. The urgent challenge is to rid the nation of Trump, not to mollify this or that identity group or wrestle over issues that could not be solved when they were relevant — such as busing. As it is, the candidates are campaigning in an America of their own imagination — a bit to the left of Sweden and as racially unified as one of those old Coke commercials. They pander to the extremes of the early caucus and primary states, thinking they can seduce the middle later on down the road or, in my case, giving me a choice of one of them or Trump. Sedate me first.

Cohen is not wrong. What Democrats are campaigning on panders to a small subset of America, the one that tends to be urban based and unhinged. This hyper-leftism might even drive average Democrats away. They probably won’t vote Trump, but, they won’t be voting Democrat. It won’t play well in swing states. And while many things might poll well in theory, in practice, not so much.

Of course, here’s the problem for Cohen: he offers no ideas for Democrats to defeat Trump. But, then, to do that would require that Democrats give up a goodly chunk of their beliefs set. They’d have to start loving America again, stop hating on the military, stop trying to control every citizen’s life at the federal level, stop trying to essentially control everything.

The UK Needs To Ditch The Free Economy To Stop Hotcoldwetdry Or Something

Members of the Cult of Climastrology are getting more and more bold (and unhinged) in announcing their true goals. Here’s Richard Partington in the UK Guard, and just about all you need to know is in the sub-head

To ensure a green future the UK needs to ditch free market economics
The scale of the climate emergency requires nothing less than full government engagement

With just 11 years left to prevent irreversible damage caused by the climate emergency, there are still options to wean the world’s economy off its reliance on fossil fuels. However anything less than putting Britain on a war footing will not be enough.

The government response so far has been timid. Theresa May introduced a net-zero carbon emissions target for 2050, but there are reasons why the Conservatives haven’t gone further: her party is hard-wired to fail. Clinging to a belief in the power of free markets, it neglects the fact that to decarbonise the economy greater investment from the state is required.

Free-market advocates detest big government. But faced with the scale of the challenge, only government has the weapons powerful enough to tackle the crisis. So far May and her allies have been held back by their unswerving belief in the market economy and the mobilisation of private capital.

So, we can generously call this a “command economy

A command economy is a system where the government, rather than the free market, determines what goods should be produced, how much should be produced, and the price at which the goods are offered for sale. It also determines investments and incomes. The command economy is a key feature of any communist society. Cuba, North Korea, and the former Soviet Union are examples of countries that have command economies, while China maintained a command economy for decades before transitioning to a mixed economy that features both communistic and capitalistic elements.

Or, we can just refer to this as Modern Socialism, because not only will the government run the economy, they will own sectors, as well as control your lives. Funny how Warmists never thing this will effect them negatively.

Mayor Pete Wants Democratic Presidential Contenders To Move Further Left

For the most part, what they really mean on the political science scale is moving further right, further into authoritarianism. To the left is less government. But, let’s not quibble, we know what they really mean

From the link

Mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Friday that Democrats need to veer left of center in 2020, if they want to beat President Trump.

“He is deservedly unpopular, but he could win again,” Buttigieg said of Trump at a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa. “I think he wins again if we look like we’re offering more of the same. I think the way he wins again, is if we look like defenders of a system that hasn’t worked.”

“And what that means is, surprisingly, the riskiest thing we could do is try so hard to play it safe, that we continue to walk down an establishment path that has Americans believe that we’re not speaking to them,” he continued.

The large Democratic field showed off an array of far-left positions in the first Democratic primary debates in Miami last week. A majority of the candidates expressed support for decriminalizing border crossings, providing taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal immigrants, unlimited access to abortion and drastic economic changes for the sake of preventing climate change.

If Pete thinks that’s “playing it safe”, I look forward to him and the others taking risks.

We Need To Dismantle The U.S. Military For ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Let’s face it, the majority who are members of the Cult of Climastrology here in the U.S. vote Democrat. And they have long despised the U.S. military, and have tried many times to reduce, even eliminate, its funding. Since that wasn’t working and didn’t play well with voters, they started infiltrating it to ruin it from the inside. But, hey, what if they could use the “climate crisis” to do the dirty work? The uber-leftist Common Dreams gives it a whirl

Why We Can’t Ignore U.S. Military Emissions

The U.S. military’s carbon bootprint is enormous. Like corporate supply chains, it relies upon an extensive global network of container ships, trucks, and cargo planes to supply its operations with everything from bombs to humanitarian aid and hydrocarbon fuels. Our new study calculated the contribution of this vast infrastructure to climate change.

Greenhouse gas emission accounting usually focuses on how much energy and fuel civilians use. But recent work, including our own, shows that the U.S. military is one of the largest polluters in history, consuming more liquid fuels and emitting more climate-changing gases than most medium-sized countries. If the U.S. military were a country, its fuel usage alone would make it the 47th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, sitting between Peru and Portugal. (snip to the end after much whining)

Our study shows that action on climate change demands shuttering vast sections of the military machine. There are few activities on Earth as environmentally catastrophic as waging war. Significant reductions to the Pentagon’s budget and shrinking its capacity to wage war would cause a huge drop in demand from the biggest consumer of liquid fuels in the world.

It does no good tinkering around the edges of the war machine’s environmental impact. The money spent procuring and distributing fuel across the U.S. empire could instead be spent as a peace dividend, helping to fund a Green New Deal in whatever form it might take. There is no shortage of policy priorities that could use a funding bump. Any of these options would be better than fueling one of the largest military forces in history.

Good luck with this notion, chumps. Maybe you can get a few of the Democratic presidential candidates to repeat this, see how that goes.

Washington Post Is Suddenly Very Concerned Over Los Federales Tapping Into Facial Recognition Searches

Now, granted, we should all be concerned when federal agencies are doing this, but, interestingly, the Washington Post and elected Democrats weren’t particularly concerned when someone else was in office

FBI, ICE tap in to state driver’s license databases for facial-recognition searches

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Immigration and Customs Enforcement have turned state driver’s license databases into a facial-recognition gold mine, scanning through millions of Americans’ photos without their knowledge or consent, newly released documents show.

Thousands of facial-recognition requests, internal documents and emails over the past five years, obtained through public-records requests by Georgetown Law researchers and provided to The Washington Post, reveal that federal investigators have turned state departments of motor vehicles databases into the bedrock of an unprecedented surveillance infrastructure.

Police have long had access to fingerprints, DNA and other “biometric data” taken from criminal suspects. But the DMV records contain the photos of a vast majority of a state’s residents, most of whom have never been charged with a crime.

Neither Congress nor state legislatures have authorized the development of such a system, and growing numbers of Democratic and Republican lawmakers are criticizing the technology as a dangerous, pervasive and error-prone surveillance tool.

But, they also haven’t said they couldn’t do it, for the most part. The federal statutes seem to be devoid of saying “no”, because typical Congressional legislation is usually overly broad and leaves things in the hands of federal agencies to go hog-wild. That’s how you ended up with the Contraception Mandate when contraception is not mentioned once in the Affordable Care Act.

Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio), the House Oversight Committee’s ranking Republican, seemed particularly incensed during a hearing into the technology last month at the use of driver’s license photos in federal facial-recognition searches without the approval of state legislators or individual license holders.

“They’ve just given access to that to the FBI,” he said. “No individual signed off on that when they renewed their driver’s license, got their driver’s licenses. They didn’t sign any waiver saying, ‘Oh, it’s okay to turn my information, my photo, over to the FBI.’ No elected officials voted for that to happen.”

And Jim has a damned good point, but, he’s concerned about U.S. citizens. The Washington Post and Democrats are worried about something else

Despite those doubts, federal investigators have turned facial recognition into a routine investigative tool. Since 2011, the FBI has logged more than 390,000 facial-recognition searches of federal and local databases, including state DMV databases, the Government Accountability Office said last month, and the records show that federal investigators have forged daily working relationships with DMV officials. In Utah, FBI and ICE agents logged more than 1,000 facial-recognition searches between 2015 and 2017, the records show. Names and other details are hidden, though dozens of the searches are marked as having returned a “possible match.”

Who was president during almost all that time?

The records also underscore the conflicts between the laws of some states and the federal push to find and deport undocumented immigrants. Though Utah, Vermont and Washington allow undocumented immigrants to obtain full driver’s licenses or more-limited permits known as driving privilege cards, ICE agents have run facial-recognition searches on those DMV databases.

See, most of this is being Concerned that federal agents charged with finding and catching people who are unlawfully present in the U.S. will use a the driver’s licenses provided to illegal aliens by Democratic legislatures to find and catch illegal aliens. Any other mention of searches that affect actual legal U.S. residents is incidental and of little concern, just thrown in by the Post to cover their Concern for illegal aliens.

Radiohead Frontman Says Hotcoldwetdry Is Giving People Anxiety Or Something

Hey, remember the days when the Cult of Climastrology told us we were only supposed to listen to climate scientists?

Thom Yorke says climate change is giving people anxiety

Thom Yorke has said he believes issues such as climate change are giving people anxiety.

The Radiohead frontman spoke with The Sunday Times in an interview about his new solo album, ANIMA, where he also spoke about his band, thoughts on current music, and ongoing social and political issues.

“It’s good that depression and anxiety are being talked about more,” he said. “But they’re also on the rise… [there’s] much less security about what may happen in the near future. Much less trust of institutions there to protect them, as well as wider issues like climate change. This all makes people anxious, and it’s crazy that people don’t just acknowledge that.”

You’re going to have a tough time reading the entire interview, as The Times UK is behind the paywall, but, seriously, that’s what the UK Independent pulls out? A minor quote about insane, non-science cultists getting anxiety over a low-grade Holocene warm period?
