New Hampshire gives Klobuchar major boost, puts Biden and Warren on 2020 life support

Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont narrowly edged former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg to claim victory in New Hampshire’s Democratic presidential primary.

But the biggest winner in Tuesday’s contest – the first primary in the White House race – may well be Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who came in a strong third. Klobuchar finished far ahead of Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and former Vice President Joe Biden, who are limping out of New Hampshire facing serious questions about the future of their campaigns.

“We love you New Hampshire,” Klobuchar stressed in her primary night speech. “Because of you, we are taking this campaign to Nevada. We are going to South Carolina. And we are taking this message of unity to the country.”

Bernie and Pete both picked up 9 delegates, and Amy picked up 6. Biden and Warren got zero. Everyone is now talking up Amy, wondering where she’s been this whole time. And Biden left New Hampshire for South Carolina even before the polls closed, and we get this from him

Former Vice President Joe Biden would like to remind you just how white Iowa and New Hampshire are.

Before the polls had even closed in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Biden had already left the early primary state for South Carolina. That’s where, even after results showed him in a distant fifth place in New Hampshire, Biden declared he’s far from done with his 2020 run.

While “it’s important” to hear from the first two states in the Democratic primary schedule, Biden declared “we haven’t heard from the most committed constituency of the Democratic Party — the African American community” and “fastest growing segment of society — the Latino community.” “99.9 percent” of black voters “have not yet had the chance to vote in America,” Biden said, and neither did “99.8 percent” of Latinx voters. And a Democrat can’t win the general election “unless you have overwhelming support from black and brown voters,” Biden added.

Of course, calling all the people of NH and Iowa essentially racists is fine for Democrats, since they all seem to have this white guilt. But, Joe sure seems to be assuming all the Blacks will vote for him. We’ll see.

But, what of Mike Bloomberg? Supposedly, moderate Dems are lining up behind him (I thought Democrats hated the 1%?), but, what effect will his stop and frisk comments, where he basically said all blacks are the same criminals, have on his support?

Definitely Not A Cult: St. Greta To Get Her Own BBC Hotcoldwetdry Series

Greta Thunberg to star in documentary series on climate change

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg will star in a BBC Studios documentary series that follows her as she travels the world to meet scientists and world leaders to discuss how to tackle the climate crisis.

“Climate change is probably the most important issue of our lives so it feels timely to make an authoritative series that explores the facts and science behind this complex subject,” BBC Executive Producer Rod Liddell said in a statement. “To be able to do this with Greta is an extraordinary privilege, getting an inside view on what it’s like being a global icon and one of the most famous faces on the planet.”

The series will follow the 17-year-old’s “international crusade” against climate change, as she explores what actions can be taken to curb the warming of the planet. Thunberg will meet with scientists, political figures and business leaders to explore scientific evidence. The series will also document her “journey into adulthood,” as she is confronted by “the real world consequences of inaction,” according to the BBC.

The project was announced at the BBC Showcase trade show Monday. No release date or number of episodes have been announced at this time.

Obviously, the show will be completely one side. I wonder how much she’s going to cash in with this series?

Schoolkids Draft Their Own ‘Climate Change’ Bill For Indoctrination

They want to force their ideas on every other school kid in the UK

Pupils draft their own climate bill as anxiety grows over lack of guidance for schools

Like many young people, Joe Brindle, 17, is scared for the future because of the climate crisis. He is, he says, “angry about the injustice that is allowing the most vulnerable people in the world to suffer from the actions of the richest and most powerful”. So Brindle, who is preparing for his A-levels in Devizes, Wiltshire, decided to do something. On top of his studies, he founded a campaign group, Teach the Future, which has spent the last few months formulating legislation entitled the climate emergency education bill. The latest version has just arrived in his inbox: it has been written by a professional parliamentary draftsperson, paid for by crowdfunding.

“We didn’t want our demands to be half met, so we thought we’d show them exactly what we want,” says Brindle. Hiring an experienced drafter was a nifty move to quash any notion that young people’s ideas are unworthy of serious consideration. Brindle hopes the bill will be taken forward by the government, “or it could be a private members bill”.

On 26 February Brindle and his fellow campaigners will gather in parliament’s biggest committee room to launch their bill, sponsored by Nadia Whittome, the UK’s youngest MP.

Brindle founded Teach the Future to campaign for a sustainable education system, after being inspired by the global school strikes that began in 2018. Its six demands are uncompromising, he says. “We feel the education system is wasting our time, because we’re facing the biggest issue of our time, and our education isn’t even touching on it.”

Say, have they heard of this thing called the Internet? How about the library? Book stores? They can get information in all those places.

As well as the proposed new act, Teach the Future is calling for a government review into how the education system is preparing students for the climate emergency and the ecological crisis. It wants teacher training to assess a minimum standard of knowledge about climate change and its impact, and a national fund to help young people’s voices be heard. It calls for all new state-funded educational buildings to have a zero-carbon footprint from 2022, with the entire education sector becoming net-zero by 2030, and a youth climate endowment fund to support young people’s projects and ideas.

Attorney General Barr Goes After Sanctuary Jurisdictions For Illegals

Barr announces sweeping new sanctions, ‘significant escalation’ against left-wing sanctuary cities

Charging that so-called “sanctuary” cities that protect illegal immigrants are jeopardizing domestic security, Attorney General Bill Barr announced a slew of additional sanctions that he called a “significant escalation” against left-wing local and state governments that obstruct the “lawful functioning of our nation’s immigration system.”

Speaking at the National Sheriff’s Association 2020 Winter Legislative and Technology Conference in Washington, D.C., Barr said the Justice Department would immediately file multiple lawsuits against sanctuary jurisdictions for unconstitutionally interfering with federal immigration enforcement, and implement unprecedented national reviews of left-wing sanctuary governments and prosecutors.

“Let us state the reality upfront and as clearly as possible,” Barr began. “When we are talking about sanctuary cities, we are talking about policies that are designed to allow criminal aliens to escape. These policies are not about people who came to our country illegally but have otherwise been peaceful and productive members of society.  Their express purpose is to shelter aliens whom local law enforcement has already arrested for other crimes.  This is neither lawful nor sensible.”

The DOJ has now filed a federal complaint against the State of New Jersey seeking declaratory and injunctive relief “against its laws that forbid state and local law enforcement from sharing vital information about criminal aliens with DHS,” Barr said.

Additionally, “we are filing a complaint seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against King County, Washington, for the policy … that forbids DHS from deporting aliens from the United States using King County International Airport,” Barr said.

He won’t be stopping there

“Further, we are reviewing the practices, policies, and laws of other jurisdictions across the country.  This includes assessing whether jurisdictions are complying with our criminal laws, in particular the criminal statute that prohibits the harboring or shielding of aliens in the United States,” Barr added, noting that the DOJ would support DHS with “federal subpoenas to access information about criminal aliens in the custody of uncooperative jurisdictions.”

But, wait, there’s more!

And, Barr said, “we are meticulously reviewing the actions of certain district attorneys who have adopted policies of charging foreign nationals with lesser offenses for the express purpose of avoiding the federal immigration consequences of those nationals’ criminal conduct.  In pursuing their personal ambitions and misguided notions of equal justice, these district attorneys are systematically violating the rule of law and may even be unlawfully discriminating against American citizens.”

That last is a reference to #3 on his 3 tier initiative, which is

  • Implementing unprecedented reviews.
  • Civil lawsuits seeking to overturn policies.
  • Possible criminal charges against officials.

Federal law is very clear on the penalties for protecting illegal aliens. Time to enforce them.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti signs city’s enhanced ‘Green New Deal’

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on Monday signed an executive directive aimed at boosting the city’s Green New Deal initiative to fight climate change.

In signing the executive directive – Garcetti’s 25th since taking office – the 49-year-old mayor insisted the “stakes could not be higher.”

“We must act this decade to save the planet and create a more equitable prosperous and healthy future for our children and grandchildren,” he said, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

The plan, unveiled in April of last year, sets ambitious goals for Los Angeles to become more sustainable by the 2030s.

“There is literally no time to waste because what we do in the next 10 years will determine the health of our planet and whether there’s a job, a paycheck and a place for everyone in our country,” Garcetti said Monday.

There’s literally no time to waste….except the 10 months since he introduced it.

The plan was originally pitched as LA’s version of the Green New Deal, an economic stimulus concept designed to tackle, among other things, climate change. The Green New Deal has been championed by progressive lawmakers, most notably, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y.

Huh

Yet, AOC hasn’t demanded a vote on it in the House, and both her and Ed freaked out when Mitch McConnell held a vote in the Senate. If the world is doomed unless we do this stuff, why does it take so long to vote on this stuff? Why does it take 10 months for Garcetti to sign his?

Doomsaying Models Claim Up To 9 Degrees Increase

There’s always some sort of doom coming from the Cult of Climastrology, so, it’s no wonder their flock are unhinged, anxiety ridden messes

A few climate models are now predicting an unprecedented and alarming spike in temperatures — perhaps as much as 5 degrees Celsius

Several recent climate models have suggested the Earth’s climate could warm to a far higher temperature than scientists previously predicted, according to a report from Bloomberg.

The startling anomaly first appeared in models from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), which suggested that if Earth’s atmospheric carbon-dioxide concentration doubles (as it’s expected to do by the end of the century), the planet could wind up 5.3 degrees hotter. That’s 33% higher than the group’s previous estimate.

About a fifth of new climate-model results published in the past year have indicated similarly stark global temperature spikes, according to Bloomberg. The UK-based Met Office Hadley Center predicted a 5.5 degrees of warming, the US Department of Energy calculated a 5.3°-degree jump, French scientists estimated a 4.9-degree increase, and a model from Canadian scientists predicted the largest rise: 5.6 degrees

Five degrees Celsius is nine degrees Fahrenheit. We’ve had a minimal 1.5F since 1850.

If global temperatures rise by 2 degrees, models predict, sea levels would get 1.6 feet higher, global heatwaves would become far more common, and subtropical areas could lose a third of their supply of fresh water. Nearly all aquatic life in oceans worldwide would be impacted; 99% of coral reefs could die.

They do understand that coral reefs developed when seas were much higher and the water and air temps were higher, as well, right? This line from the Bloomberg article is great

It takes climate modelers, who run hugely complex calculations on supercomputers, more than a biblical six days to create their virtual worlds.

Nope, not a cult, not a cult at all.

Climate Anxiety Is Overwhelming And Terrifying Or Something

People who generally have good lives, aren’t really worried about where their food, shelter, and clothes are coming from, are able to travel around thanks to fossil fuels, have fits when they can’t get social media on their smartphones, and have easy access to health care, clean water, and good food, so they have to invent something to cause strife in their lives

‘Overwhelming and terrifying’: the rise of climate anxiety

Over the past few weeks Clover Hogan has found herself crying during the day and waking up at night gripped by panic. The 20-year-old, who now lives in London, grew up in Queensland, Australia, cheekbyjowl with the country’s wildlife, fishing frogs out of the toilet and dodging snakes hanging from the ceiling.

The bushfires ravaging her homeland over the past few weeks have taken their toll. “I’ve found myself bursting into tears … just seeing the absolutely harrowing images of what’s happening in Australia – it is overwhelming and terrifying.”

Hogan said her lowest point came when she heard about the death of half a billion animals incinerated as the fires swept through the bush. “That was the moment where I felt my heart cleave into two pieces. I felt absolutely distraught.”

The physical impact of the climate crisis is impossible to ignore, but experts are becoming increasingly concerned about another, less obvious consequence of the escalating emergency – the strain it is putting on people’s mental wellbeing, especially the young.

If she wants to be upset, perhaps she could be mad at all the people who set the fires, intentionally or unintentionally, because a tiny increase in the global temperature had nothing to do with it. And maybe she could be mad at the environweenies who refuse to allow things like fire breaks, clearing the underbrush, and controlled burns.

Psychologists warn that the impact can be debilitating for the growing number of people overwhelmed by the scientific reality of ecological breakdown and for those who have lived through traumatic climate events, often on the climate frontline in the global south..

People freaking over a scam, and then making themselves more freaked out as they are told more about the scam by hysterics.

When Kennedy-Williams began focusing on young people he assumed most would be older teenagers or at least have started secondary school. But he soon discovered worrying levels of environment-related stress and anxiety in much younger children.

“What I was most surprised by is how young the awareness and anxiety starts. My own daughter was just six when she came to me and said: ‘Daddy, are we winning the war against climate change?’ and I was just flummoxed by that question in the moment. It really showed me the importance as a parent of being prepared for the conversation, so we can respond in a helpful way.”

Things that didn’t happen.

Until two years ago Dr Patrick Kennedy-Williams, a clinical psychologist from Oxford, had spent his career treating common mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression and trauma. Then something new started to happen. Climate scientists and researchers working in Oxford began to approach him asking for help. (snip)

A key moment for Kennedy-Williams came with the realisation that tackling “climate anxiety” and tackling the climate crisis were intrinsically linked.

“The positive thing from our perspective as psychologists is that we soon realised the cure to climate anxiety is the same as the cure for climate change – action. It is about getting out and doing something that helps.

NYT Dumps Cold Water On One Trillion Trees Initiative Because Trump’s In Favor Of It

What’s Better Than Planting a Trillion Trees?

After what seemed like 100 years of impeachments hearings, anything uttered on Capitol Hill now sounds to my ear like the voice of Charlie Brown’s teacher. Nevertheless, a few words from President Trump’s State of the Union address managed to break through the wah-wahs last week: “To protect the environment, days ago, I announced the United States will join the One Trillion Trees Initiative, an ambitious effort to bring together government and the private sector to plant new trees in America and around the world,” he said.

Could it really be true?

You will forgive me for thinking there’s no way it could be true. The whole point of the World Economic Forum’s One Trillion Trees initiative is to reduce carbon in the environment and slow the rate of climate change by growing and preserving a trillion trees, worldwide, by 2050. But instead of addressing climate change, the Trump administration has rolled back or weakened 95 environmental protections already on the books.

After a few paragraphs bashing Trump for killing off silly ‘climate change’ and Too Big Government rules, Margaret talks about Trump being potentially converted, and

Nothing would give me greater joy than a conversion story in which the Republican Party recognizes and addresses the climate calamity that is already here, but redemption is hardly at hand. More likely: The president has concluded that planting trees will allow him to continue his wrecking-ball policies while simultaneously posing as an environmentalist. Call it an arboreal cap-and-trade arrangement in which there are no caps and virtually no trades — the continued pillaging and polluting of the environment in exchange for planting a trillion trees.

Anyhow, she bashes Trump some more, and even says that planting trees is not the solution, protecting forests is the solution! You know, after Warmists have clamored for decades about planting trees, how all the carbon offsets companies promise to plant trees, now planting trees is not the solution. Because Trump.
