Government Motors Creates Jobs! In Mexico

Perhaps this is an audacious plan by stealth GM CEO Barry Obama to lower the illegal immigration rate

U.S. automobile giant General Motors Co. said Tuesday it plans to invest close to $500 million in its Ramos Arizpe plant in northern Mexico to produce a new line of engines as well as a new vehicle.

Of that amount, the company is investing $284 million to manufacture eight-cylinder engines with spark-ignition direct-injection technology, known as SIDI, Grace Lieblein, chief executive of GM de Mexico, said at an event.

“We estimate that these technologies allow for a 9% improvement in fuel efficiency from current engines,” Lieblein said, adding that the investment will directly create 390 jobs in Coahuila state, where Ramos Arizpe is located.

Another $215 million will go toward upgrading the factory’s production lines to build a new vehicle for the domestic and international markets, she said, noting that the investment will be key to maintaining 400 jobs.

So, let’s see: GM received $49.1 billion from the taxpayers, hasn’t even come close to repaying that money, and, rather than investing in jobs for Americans, will build do it in Mexico.

Hey, anyone want to bet that those 790 jobs created saved/end up as talking point by Barry and Sheriff Joe?

They’re right on the edge of the newest of new technology! Spark ignition. Who would have thought that using a spark to ignite the gasoline would work?

  2. Trish says:

Yes, and I’m sure within a couple of years or sooner, Americans will need to sneak over the Mexican border to find employment. Wonder how they’ll be greeted?

  3. John Ryan says:

GM has invested 1% of the money from American taxpayers on Mexico GM has finished paying back the 5 billion dollar loan. The government still owns the majority of GM shares

  4. John Ryan says:

Kevin SIDI is the cutting edge of internal combustion engines. It is not like the Briggs and Stratton engine that your mom lets you mow the lawn with, it is more like a direct injection diesel that uses gasoline for fuel. Currently it is so advanced that it is only being manufactured in the more advanced countries of Europe and Asia by their socialist workers. We are about 5 years behind them in auto technology now

No, they haven’t. What they did was “repay” the loan with more money loaned to them.
