CST: Guess Which Years Are Now The Hottest

Collapsing Science Today: Reuters is still pushing the climate alarmist meme

The decade 2000-2009 was the hottest since 1850 as a result of warming through the 1980s and 1990s which has since peaked, says the World Meteorological Organisation.

Well, you see, in reality

Four of the top 10 are now from the 1930s: 1934, 1931, 1938 and 1939, while only 3 of the top 10 are from the last 10 years (1998, 2006, 1999). Several years (2000, 2002, 2003, 2004) fell well down the leaderboard, behind even 1900. (World rankings are calculated separately.) Note: For the new leaderboard see http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.D.txt. The old data has been erased; by sheer chance, I had the old data active in my R-session but I can’t give a link to it.)

That’s going to leave a mark in the alarmist’s talking points, but, surely they will just bury their heads in the sand, as they have been doing all along. Perhaps a few ad hominum attacks, a recitation that this doesn’t fit the “consensus,” throw in a few deflections and denial. You know, their standard “scientific” methods.

Back to al Reuters

British Hadley Centre scientists said last year that there was no warming from 1999-2008, after allowing for extreme, natural weather patterns. Temperatures should have risen by a widely estimated 0.2 degrees Centigrade, given a build up of manmade greenhouse gases.

Woops!

“Solar might be one part of it,” said the Hadley’s Jeff Knight, adding that changes in the way data was gathered could be a factor, as well as shifts in the heat stored by oceans.

The sun goes through phases in activity, and since 2001 has been in a downturn meaning it may have heated the earth a little less, scientists say.

“We’ve not put our finger precisely on what has changed,” Knight said. “(But) If you add all these things together … there’s nothing really there to challenge the idea that there’s going to be large warming in the 21st century.”

So, there have been all these natural processes going on, causing flatline and reducing temperatures, but, no no, they are just offsetting what Mankind was doing. The warming from 1980-1998 couldn’t possibly have been primarily natural, could it, Jeff?

But don’t worry about it, climate alarmist scientists are all about the science

Climate scientists must do more to work out how exceptionally cold winters or a dip in world temperatures fit their theories of global warming, if they are to persuade an increasingly sceptical public. At stake is public belief that greenhouse gas emissions are warming the planet, and political momentum to act as governments struggle to agree a climate treaty which could direct trillions of dollars into renewable energy, away from fossil fuels.

Now, that is the way science works! What? That’s public relations, not science? Darn! But, no worries, Harry Reid and John Kerry plan on slamming a carbon bill through the Senate very soon.

Yeah, those 30’s temperatures you’re talking about are for the US only, not the entire planet. Oops!

  2. Otter says:

Funny how places like the Arctic seemed to be experiencing the same thing at the same time…. otherwise why would there be newspapers articles speaking about how all the ice is disappearing, and the north pole will be ice free by……

But then, some of us make the effort to Connect the dots.

  3. reasic says:

    Otter,

Could you be any more vague and off-topic? What the hell are you talking about?

  4. Yet, if you search out the real temp trends around the world, you find exactly the same thing during the 1930’s.

Anyhow, what caused it? Nature. What is causing the higher temps now. Nature.

Give it up, your religion is dying. Perhaps an intervention from the cult would help.

  5. reasic says:

    Uh, no.

Ah, “nature” caused it. Any more specifics than that? Any proof (sources)? Of course not.

My religion is Christianity. How ironic, though, that you would claim that I am in a religion, when you are the only one who can’t ever seem to explain his beliefs. Isn’t it?

    • I have 4 billion years of nature on my side. You have a feeling. But, hey, keep hiding your head in the sand. We’ll get you through the 5 stages of grief to acceptance at some point.

  6. John Ryan says:

teach that link only showed some temps from the USA qhich is 2% of the earth’s surface. I believe in the USA anI believe in our government. I do not believe that there is a scientific hoax being committed about climate change. I also believe in evolution and in the scientific method. And religion ???? The freakin Pope believes in climate change The US military does. I am not worried about what is going to happen with nature in a million years from now, I am worried about the next 100 years and the changes that will happen then.

  7. John Ryan says:

and that data from GISS is from NASA, NOT NOAA which is the OFFICIAL USA TEMP keepers not NASA Teach you are getting real sloppy here better tighten it up some
