McKinney Gets her (law)Suit On

Geez, I reckon today should be Lawsuit Wednesday, rather then White Trash Wednesday. Seems ol' Cynthia McKinney is a wee bit upset about something written about her in the newspapers (via Wizbang)

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) is suing an Atlanta newspaper (the Atlanta Journal Constitution) for libel, after printing comments stemming from her run-in with police at the Capitol building.

According to Raffauf, Tucker's editorial column "was untrue, defamatory and libelous" when it read "'she (the Congresswoman) slugged him (the officer) with her cell phone.' This false allegation is not supported by any witness or any other evidence. Additionally, Tucker is maliciously attempting to spin this into a felony by falsely alleging that she assaulted the officer with a deadly weapon."

The suit alleges that other misstatements were made, including the statement that Congresswoman McKinney "suggested that President Bush had known in advance about the Sept. 11 attacks but did nothing to stop them so his friends could profit from the ensuing war," and "She doesn't have the power or prestige to pass a resolution in support of sweetened ice tea."

It will be interesting if this goes to court. This will just open that huge can of worms that Cynthia's own words and actions have precipitated.

For instance, she said during a radio interview "We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on Sept. 11. What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of Sept. 11? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered?"

And, what has she actually passed in Congress? Well, nothing during the current Congress. Somehow, a drug addled gangbanger like Tupac Shakur ranks high on her legislative priorities list.

During her 12 years in Congress, she has introduced 64 pieces of legislation, and passed one. Renamed a post office. Even the other crazy Dems in Congress avoid her like the Black Death.

Kim Priestap, writing the story at Wizbang, says "I have a feeling the Hank Johnson campaign is pretty happy right now. This lawsuit is going to make Cynthia McKinney look even crazier."

  3. It is simply amazing to me that someone who does so little in congress has such a big mouth and makes it into the news alot.

Had to try a new word, the other one was getting broken a bit.

McKinney goes down on Mr Johnson…

A new poll by InsiderAdvantage shows Johnson leading McKinney 46 percent to 21 percent, with one-third of voters undecided. The survey recorded the responses of 480 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
