Barry Bonds Incredible Shrinking Head

And the Dodgers world class announcer, Vin Scully, wants no part of it (hat tip to Captain Ed, who is another soon-to-be-dissapointed Dodgers fan like myself) From the LA Times:

In 1974, when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record in a game against the Dodgers, Scully called it. But at the start of a season in which Barry Bonds could pass Ruth and then Aaron for perhaps the most cherished mark in American sports, the Dodgers’ Hall of Fame announcer wants no part of that history.

“I would just as soon it not happen against the Dodgers,” Scully said. “With Aaron, it was a privilege to be there when he did it. It was just a great moment. With Bonds, no matter what happens now, it will be an awkward moment. That’s the best word I can think of now. If I had my druthers, I would rather have that awkward moment happen to somebody else.”

I wouldn’t want to see Bonds break the record because:

  1. I am a Dodgers fan, and Bonds is a SF Giant
  2. Bonds is a an elitist jerk
  3. Bonds is not fan friendly
  4. It sure appears he has steroided up to get the record
  5. He is a racist, re: Babe Ruth
  6. He’s a pompous jerk
  7. He’s a Giant

Bonds is not a great guy like Hank Aaron. And at least one fan at the Giants-Padres Opening Day game let him know about it:

A fan tossed a syringe near Barry Bonds as he came off the field in between innings on Monday at Petco Park, and the San Francisco Giants slugger said he picked it up in his glove and carried it off the field.

To quote Glenn, “Indeed!” And, PS, the title of this story comes from The Pirate’s Blog. Visits from his site always show up in the True Fresco referrers list like that. 🙂
