Blog stuff

While we are on the subject of How To Blog, let me add a few things.

First, you may have noticed folks with strange Truth Laid Bear things, like mine which says I am a "Large Mammal with a Light Saber." How do you do that? SImple. Use a code like this:

I am a

Large Mammal with a Light Saber
</a>

">My
Ecosystem Details</a>

Insert your own address and saying.

You may be thinking, how do you find cool things like that? It is actually rather easy. I may have mentioned it before, but, look up at the task bar, under "view." Go to "source" or "page source." Open it up. Do a search to find what you are looking for. That is how I got the code for the TLB stuff, stolen from Rusty. I snaked the "welcome to my visitors from…" from Beth. Many of the graphics are snagged out on the web. Heck, most of my banner is taken from, well, you can guess. I suspect that most folks do not mind, just give them credit. Or, at the least, a thank you email.

BTW, y’all might want to view the page in Internet Explorer, comes up funky in Firefox.

Update: Tom at Hamstermotor has a bit more on this subject. He shows you how to make the saying rotate. Good stuff. Go here.

You can make it even cooler by placing a random quote script inside the animal tags.

  2. I saw that. Never got around to seeing the source code. You should write something up about it, that is rather unique.

  3. Tom says:

I just made a post on becoming a schizophrenic beast in the Ecosystem.

Wow! Thanks Teach. I’m gradually learning this stuff, but it is really helpful when you do posts like this. I’ll do something to mine soon… flappy comment whore bird… or, uh, something better than that…

In my neverending quest to bring some sarcastic goodness into the lives of this blog’s readers, here are a few amusing mentions of late: A Fistful Of Malkovich – Pretty bizarre, eh? Try it on your own page here, and…

Teach me how to blog please!! 🙂

(Thanks for the tips). Also cool about the schizophrenic animals, Tom. I might have to do some template tinkering tonight. (wow, look at that alliteragtion! And why yes, I am heavily medicated right now — dayquil!)

  8. jody says:

but not so heavily medicated not to be able to spell alliteration correctly…sorry. 😉

  9. well, I’m not sure what the word even means. Hope you feel better, Jody.

  10. jody says:

alliteration is a grammatical term referring to words beginning with the same letter, i think assonance is words that have the same sound somewhere in the word, not the beginning… so my template tinkering tonight… ah nevermind. Thanks 🙂
