Ed Miliband imposes new net zero restrictions on underfloor heating and towel rails

Heated towel rails that use too much power create an “avoidable cost to society” and should be banned from sale, Labour has said.

Underfloor heating systems and storage heaters that are classed as inefficient will also be removed from sale, in a bid to cut energy waste and carbon emissions.

The rules, which also cover gas space heaters, are part of the drive to Net Zero and are aimed at ensuring only the most efficient systems are available.

They will bring Britain more in line with EU regulations.

Last time I checked the UK left the EU. Nice that one person can slap on these restrictions, which will essentially cost businesses a lot of money as they can no longer sell those products

No one will be forced to remove existing systems according to Labour, and the rules will only apply to new models.

No one will be forced yet. Don’t think that a nation that sends multiple cops to harass and arrest citizens for Mean Tweets won’t force citizens to remove those systems.

The changes will save households money through reduced costs, it adds.

From next year, new models of heated towel rails, underfloor heating and storage heaters will have to meet improved energy efficiency requirements.

Which means that any savings through reduced use costs will be erased from products that cost a lot more.

The document estimates that, of models currently on the market, almost half of electric underfloor heating models and just over half of electric towel rails will be banned.

So, any existing supplies must be sold and installed by the end of the year or those products are worthless.

Wacko Massachusetts Town Considers Using 4th Of July Funds For Illegals

Massachusetts city councilor suggests redirecting Fourth of July funds for immigration legal aid

A Massachusetts city has paused approval of next year’s budget over calls for more funding to cover immigration legal aid, with one councilor suggesting redirecting money meant for Fourth of July festivities.

As the close of this fiscal year nears on June 30, the Lynn City Council has decided to wait until the last minute to green-light next year’s spending plan, arguing that Mayor Jared Nicholson’s proposed $50,000 allocation isn’t adequate.

Looking in any which way to make up for the shortfall, Councilor Brian LaPierre has offered several recommendations, including redirecting cash from a budget line item that funds neighborhood Fourth of July block parties.

The “celebration line item” specifically provides resources, such as trash barrels and emergency vehicle access, or small stipends to support the council-sanctioned patriotic festivities.

“It’s a small amount,” LaPierre said at a meeting earlier this week of the line item. “It’s $15,000, it’s just for one year, even, but why don’t we roll that into an immigration fund for this year only?”

Right, it’s only America’s 250th birthday and you want to give the money over for illegal aliens, what’s the big deal?

LaPierre, a councilor-at-large since 2016, also suggested using parking receipt revenue towards immigration relief for a year, or some of the $40,000 the mayor has proposed for his office’s legal fees.

The Fourth of July block party funding request stands out as other Bay State cities and towns have cancelled their own celebrations amid America’s 250th anniversary.

The town of Rutland and the cities of Framingham and Northampton have all connected funding constraints in their respective communities to their celebration cancellations this year.

Perhaps if they weren’t spending all that money on helping illegal aliens?

Guess Who’s The Silent Referee At World Cup?

Weather and sports are a lot more closely related than you may think, and the 2026 World Cup could be the greatest example of them all.

The tournament is returning to the United States for the first time in more than 30 years. It will be the most polluting World Cup in history — experts are predicting the games may possibly triple the emissions generated during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

For soccer fields in particular, water used to keep the pitch green can cause extra waste. That’s why some stadiums have recently become some of the most innovative examples of climate solutions. Forest Green Rovers in the United Kingdom has become the world’s first carbon neutral stadium and has been dubbed the “world’s greenest football club.” EV batteries, solar panels, even the players’ quick-stepping dribbles are some ways stadiums are finding new, cleaner ways to power their matches, and the World Cup puts them on a global stage.

It’s impossible to just have sports and fun without a (un)healthy dose of climate doom

Atlanta’s stadium alone sees 3 million visitors a year, a population that generates 5 million pounds of waste. While it typically clogs landfills, zero waste efforts like recycling and composting have now diverted 90% of that waste away from landfills. Landfills are a huge source of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane, which is the most potent heat-trapping gas. Recycling paper towels, trapping rainwater for irrigation and cooling, and even growing urban gardens on-site are just some of the out-of-the-box ways Mercedes-Benz Stadium has aimed to reduce its environmental impact.

Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco is another host site for the World Cup this summer, and received several awards and certifications for its positive environmental impact. The stadium’s use of solar panels, recycled wood, green roofs, farm-to-table menus, and recycling and composting programs all help reduce its carbon footprint.

In Philadelphia, Lincoln Financial Field will host six matches, including frontrunner countries like Brazil and France. The stadium has been promoting its “Go Green” initiative for more than 20 years, which uses 10,000 solar panels to produce 40% of the stadium’s electricity. In 2023, the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles became the first professional sports organization in North America to use clean hydrogen fuel in its passenger vehicles. Bohenko says that sustainability initiatives like these are what left them incredibly prepared to host an event as big as the World Cup.

Sports often feel like our escape from reality. Watching a game on TV or at the stadium is a favorite pastime, a way to destress, decompress and connect with friends and family. It’s our safe haven, and one that we often do not consider can be impacted by some of the harsh realities of global crisis. Democrats seek next ObamaCare ahead of midterms amid rising health costs

There is growing momentum within the Democratic Party to find its next ObamaCare heading into the midterms, as healthcare costs become more untenable and American anger over affordability persists.

Healthcare has consistently ranked as a top issue for voters heading into this year’s midterm elections. June polling from Emerson College found that healthcare ranked in the top five issues for voters, behind the economy, threats to democracy and immigration.

The expiration of the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits dealt a heavy blow to Democrats in Congress, who carried out the longest government shutdown in history to get a vote on extending the subsidies.

In the wake of the expired tax credits, premiums jumped by more than 20 percent and ACA enrollment dropped this year after previously experiencing four consecutive years of record growth.

The thing is, those credits were simply covering up the true costs of Ocare, mostly for the premiums, which kept going year after year from the get-go. They didn’t cover up the cost of deductibles and out of pocket costs.

BTW, immigration ranked higher than healthcare, and ‘climate change’ doesn’t even make the top 10 list

In March, the Center for Health and Democracy (CHD) unveiled its proposal for a 2028 healthcare platform it’s seeking to rally Democrats behind, called “Medicare by Choice.”

Put together by former Democratic aides and staffers at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, it would allow all Americans the option of enrolling in Medicare regardless of age, even allowing employers to select Medicare by Choice as their employees’ workplace benefit.

So, just a different way of creating a government run health plan. Surprise?

Shame: Fewer “Journalists” Signing Up For Bonn Climate (scam) Talks

Fewer journalists register for Bonn talks, as cuts to climate reporting bite

The number of journalists registered to attend the annual climate negotiations in Bonn has declined this year, as climate reporters have been let go and media coverage of climate issues falls around the world.

Data from UN Climate Change, which runs the two weeks of talks, shows that just 135 media representatives have signed up to attend. Climate Home News analysis of previous data shows this is the lowest figure since 2021, when COVID-19 restrictions limited travel and the Bonn talks were held in a hybrid format to enable online participation.

What their data shows is a decrease during the Trump years, with 71 attending in 2018, 93 in 2019, 59 in 2021, then a spike till a drop. News outlets can’t afford to be sending their employees on long, fossil fueled trips to listen to Elites say they need to take the money and freedom from the peasants.

The number of journalists that actually attend the talks will not be known until later this month but is typically significantly less than are registered. Press conferences, held back-to-back each day by campaign groups, have been sparsely attended in the first few days and often filled mainly with climate campaigners and researchers rather than journalists.

Alexandra Endres, a reporter for German-language website Table Briefings, told Climate Home News in Bonn there are fewer German journalists covering the conference in-person. “I think it is important to have more journalists covering the negotiations because when the climate coverage increases, the interest of the public grows,” she said.

Yeah, I think it’s just that people are tired of this cult stuff, especially when there are real world issues to be concerned about.

Media outlets that have registered fewer journalists than previous years, or no journalists, include global heavyweights like Reuters, Bloomberg and the BBC, as well as German outlets like Deutsche Welle and ZDF television, and specialist publications like business information service Argus and climate broadcaster We Don’t Have Time.

Activist Harjeet Singh, who is in Bonn advising the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative, said that “the empty press seats here in Bonn are a warning signal. While the world’s gaze is often fixed on the annual COP summits, the real-world consequences of the climate crisis—from financing the fossil fuel transition to protecting vulnerable populations—are being shaped, or ignored, in these mid-year negotiations right now.”

Weirdly, none of the people “negotiating” are giving up their own use of fossil fuels.

Former court clerks charged after being accused of helping undocumented immigrants evade ICE

Two former court clerks in Utah were arrested after being accused of being “self-appointed anti-ICE vigilantes” for helping an undocumented immigrant escape out a back door of the Logan City Municipal Justice Court to avoid being arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Both former clerks, Jennifer Joma and Lauren Morrow, were charged in U.S. District Court of Utah with three felonies — conspiracy to transport and harbor illegal aliens, harboring illegal aliens, and obstruction of proceedings before departments and agencies. Joma faces an additional count of transporting illegal aliens.

“After they overheard that ICE was at the courthouse to arrest someone, they improperly accessed court databases to determine who was not born in the United States. They then snuck every suspected illegal alien who was at the courthouse out a back door, where ICE, who was waiting in the parking lot for their target to leave the building, could not see them,” federal prosecutors wrote in court documents asking that they be released under certain conditions..

After helping sneak the first person out of the courthouse, Morrow and Joma noticed a surveillance camera, the document says. “This did not appear to deter or concern them. JOMA waved and smiled. MORROW waived (sic) and then used her middle finger to flip off the camera.”

Both resigned afterwards, probably thinking “meh, nothing’s going to happen.” A Failure Of Critical Thinking all around

Your Fault: Scientists Have Detected TDS At Bottom Of Ocean

Scientists Have Detected Something Deeply Alarming at the Bottom of the Ocean

Something is stirring in the waters off the coast of Greenland, and it isn’t a submarine fleet sent by Donald Trump.

According to reporting by the New Scientist, evidence is mounting that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation — a massive system of deep sea currents that acts like a conveyor belt for the world’s oceans known as AMOC — is starting to slow its gears. As it does, cold waters from the Greenland ice sheet are allowed to pool in the North-Atlantic, creating a “cold blob” that’s only getting colder as the rest of the world warms up.

This in turn has a major impact on jet streams, fueling extreme weather across the world. Should it collapse, the New Scientist notes that the AMOC could act as a climate tipping point, setting off a chain reaction resulting in much colder weather for some, and much drier weather for others by as early as 2040.

“The cold blob can disturb the atmospheric jet stream and storm activities, so it has implications for extreme weather events in North America and Europe,” Laifang Li, assistant professor of meteorology and atmospheric science at Penn State explained in a press release announcing an earlier study on the AMOC.

OK, we’ve touched on this many times, but, never with TDS to start it off. They really cannot help themselves.

Also, they have no directly observed data on what has happened in previous Holocene warm periods to see if this is unusual.

Insanity: UK Councils Ban The Flying Of British Flags For World Cup

Killjoy councils ban England flags during World Cup for ‘community cohesion’

A slew of councils have banned England flags from being hung on public property during the World Cup to protect “community cohesion”.

Bristol City Council (BCC), South Gloucestershire Council and Wiltshire Council’s warning comes ahead of the start of the tournament in North America this evening – and just days before England’s first match.

BCC leader Tony Dyer has urged residents to avoid hoisting St George’s Cross in any publicly-owned spaces.

He said: “What people cannot do is fly flags on lampposts or railings or any public property.

“Please do not attach anything to lampposts – it causes health and safety issues.”

What makes British elected’s pull this crap? And what you’re going to get is more Brits flying the flag in public, and the wacko police having to go jackboot in taking them down. All while the “immigrants” commit their crimes

The city council vowed to fast-track the removal of flags hung up in “sensitive locations” and said it would reassess its strategy on taking down those on council-owned properties.

It also urged Bristolians to report any instances of flags being adorned on public property to the authorities.

Mr Dyer said: “By celebrating responsibly and being mindful of others, we can ensure that Bristol remains welcoming, respectful and safe for everyone during the tournament.”

Those kinds of insane quotes continue through the article.

The warning to West Country residents comes after it emerged that immigration officers were told that wearing England badges during the World Cup could intimidate detained migrants.

Staff at detention centres across were warned in a Independent Monitoring Board report that wearing patriotic items may damage “professional standards”.

England is no longer allowed to be England.
