Ed Miliband imposes new net zero restrictions on underfloor heating and towel rails
Heated towel rails that use too much power create an “avoidable cost to society” and should be banned from sale, Labour has said.
Underfloor heating systems and storage heaters that are classed as inefficient will also be removed from sale, in a bid to cut energy waste and carbon emissions.
The rules, which also cover gas space heaters, are part of the drive to Net Zero and are aimed at ensuring only the most efficient systems are available.
They will bring Britain more in line with EU regulations.
Last time I checked the UK left the EU. Nice that one person can slap on these restrictions, which will essentially cost businesses a lot of money as they can no longer sell those products
No one will be forced to remove existing systems according to Labour, and the rules will only apply to new models.
No one will be forced yet. Don’t think that a nation that sends multiple cops to harass and arrest citizens for Mean Tweets won’t force citizens to remove those systems.
The changes will save households money through reduced costs, it adds.
From next year, new models of heated towel rails, underfloor heating and storage heaters will have to meet improved energy efficiency requirements.
Which means that any savings through reduced use costs will be erased from products that cost a lot more.
The document estimates that, of models currently on the market, almost half of electric underfloor heating models and just over half of electric towel rails will be banned.
So, any existing supplies must be sold and installed by the end of the year or those products are worthless.

The restrictions are 90% safety. Teach probably does the t realized the inherent danger of ANY electrical installation in a bathroom

These safety regulations should not be optional

Perhaps the man using an Alias has no receptacles at all in his bathroom, for lights or hair dryers or anything else, but almost all of us do have them. My darling bride has yet to be electrocuted using her hair dryer, or plugging in the base of her rechargeable electric toothbrush. I have yet to be shocked turning on the lights.
And kitchens? Far, far worse! We have sinks which can splash water, refrigerators with water and ice dispensers, and some, some, even have ‘pot filler’ faucets over electric ranges!

The estimable Kentucky Kuntrarian imagines that hard-working Americans WANT to see more of their tax dollars used to enrich tRump Inc, to pay for his golf trips, walking on the moon, war in Iran, missiles, bombers, battleships, cage fights, court cases, prosecutions of political enemies, rounding up children and dishwashers, tariffs, inflation, Qatari jets – but cuts to research, Medicare, Social Security, disability, food, Medicaid, education… Do hard-working Americans like paying more for gasoline, A/C electricity and home/ business insurance?
The profligate president added $8 TRILLION to our debt in his first term and is committing his serfs to even larger debts as far as the eye can see. The U.S. national debt is on track to rise from roughly $39 TRILLION to over $59 TRILLION by 2035. Can We, the People afford so much economic conservatism!!
Global investment on global warming is $1-2 trillion yearly, mostly on alternative energy sources.

Heated towel racks help our health! If you have heated towel racks, you are far less likely to reuse the same bath towel twice, because putting a wet towel on the heated rack won’t be pleasant.
Of course, if heated towel racks discourage the reuse of your bath towel, that’ll mean running your washing machine and dryer more frequently, also murdering Mother Gaia!
Worry not. Wealthy connected Euro aristocracy will still have warm towels and floors. The middle class shut theirs off years ago to save energy after someone sabotaged their energy imports from Russia. Just like wealthy and connected people in the USA will continue to use as much energy as they like.
Hard to believe but there are enviro-nuts even crazier than our own homegrown weather Nazi’s.
I’ll bet that even the nut cases posted here enjoy the luxury of heat and light everyday but expect everyone else to give it up. It’s for the children you know… Now take your peanut butter sandwich and and hide under your bed.
