John Kerry Takes Long Fossil Fueled Flight To Say CO2 Causes Cancer

Secretary of State John Kerry has long been a disciple of the Cult of Climastrology (just not enough to support the Cape Wind Project), and never seems to miss an opportunity to whine about it. And, yes, he was in Chile for other things

But, he had to yammer on about ‘climate change’

(Breitbart) Secretary of State John Kerry warns the world that more and more people will be fleeing the devastation caused by global warming. “It’s something new. We have climate refugees today,” he said during a town hall event about the oceans.

Kerry described climate refugees as people who had to leave their homes because of drought, rising sea levels, and thawing permafrost.

“[T]he day could come, if we don’t respond rapidly, you could have millions of climate refugees. You could have people moving from whole areas where today you can grow things and tomorrow you can’t,” he said.

Remember how all those climate refugees crossed the land bridge from Russia into Alaska and then migrated down through North and South America? It must have been boiling in Siberia! People have always picked up and moved due to climatic changes. Things tend to be much worse during cool periods and ice ages.

It’s actually rather sad that Kerry had to devolve to this kind of hysteria, because he had some great points about real environmental issues, namely, overfishing and illegal fishing, along with real pollution, such as plastics and fertilizers which cause “dead spots” in oceans.

Of course, he doesn’t actually know what will happen from Hotcoldwetdry

There are scientists now who are telling us that the warming of the ocean and the changes of the ice melting in the Antarctic and the Arctic can have a profound impact on the major ocean currents. And those major ocean currents have been critical to the kind of climate that we all have been able to live with. If that changes, I can’t stand here and tell you what the impact will be, but I know that when you disrupt such a critical component of the life cycle, you are taking enormous risks. And all of us, if we’re aware of those risks, we have a major moral responsibility as a matter of simple precaution not to put future generations at risk.

The last few Holocene warm periods, which were warmer than today, were periods of rapid, positive growth and enlightenment. But, it’s nice to see him admit that he really doesn’t know, and that this is all speculation wrapped in doomsaying.

Apparently, here’s the kicker, CO2 causes cancer

Let me give you an example. I’ve been working on the issue of climate change for years and we’ve always heard this argument, “Oh, we can’t – the United States can’t put restrictions on our automobiles so we have less CO2 because then we won’t be competitive with other countries.” But that’s not true because other countries also want their people to be able to breathe clean air and not get cancer from particulates in the atmosphere.

Let’s just end this silliness with what Kerry deserves

Strange isn’t it Teach that virtually EVERY government on planet Earth believes in climate change.
Yet Americans are the least likely (although still a ,ajority) to be in AGW http://ecowatch.com/2014/07/22/americans-lead-world-climate-denial/

  2. drowningpuppies says:

Yeah, but those Iranian nukes, pfft, no problem.
    Trust me.

  3. john says:

ha ah The Iranian nukes ? Drowning puppies probably believed the hype about Saddam’s nukes also
And Teach Cape Wind failed because no one would finance it. Mostly Republicans opposed it and Dems wanted it. Romney strongly opposed, the Koch Bros strongly opposed the GOP Governor candidate in MA in 2012 opposed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Wind
I was against it because of its location it should have been put in a different area.
It was also opposed bt the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce (which strongly leans right)
In general wind power costs are now equal to coal
HOWEVER on this project they were going to be twice as high as coal. Yet for some reason Teach seems to favor this project???
    Spite? Hate?

Secretary Kerry did not say that CO2 causes cancer. Why lie/exaggerate/mislead? Oh, that’s right, it’s what conservatives do. CO2 is not a particulate. Perhaps if you knew just a bit more about the topic… oh, that’s right, you’re a conservative.

    Please correct your headline.

Humans are changing the Earth by injecting CO2 into the atmosphere. The Earth is warming. Most Deniers have moved to the 2nd or 3rd Stage of Denial (although some – e.g., Load Monckton and commenters here – are still stuck in Stage 1).

Stage 1 (10 years ago): Warming? It’s not warming! Scientists and their commie supporters have staged an elaborate hoax to take money from white conservatives!

Stage 2 (5 years ago): Everyone knows it’s warming, but there’s no proof it’s from greenhouse gases! It’s natural. They Earth has always warmed and cooled. Anyway, scientists and their commie supporters have staged an elaborate hoax to take money from white conservatives!

Stage 3 (today): Sheesh, everyone knows that warming is caused by our greenhouse gas emissions, but it’s either too late/ too expensive to do anything about it. Humans will just have to adapt/evolve! After all, scientists and their commie supporters have staged an elaborate hoax to take money from white conservatives!

Of course, as with any enterprise not based on reason, there’s lots of overlap amongst the Deniers. After all, the goal is to not take any actions to lessen the deleterious impacts of rapid global warming, so any activity to deliver that goal is allowed. So it really doesn’t matter how you Deny, just THAT you deny.

Why do Deniers Deny? Several reasons. One basic fact: ALL Deniers are conservative and conservatives are fearful of progressives, science, government and change. Conservative leaders and elites are Deniers, and conservative followers follow their leaders with passion, so con elites know how to lead their followers. Many conservative leaders receive money from CO2 emitting industries and “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on him not understanding it.” – Upton Sinclair. For some Deniers it’s about the general conflicts between their religious mythologies and the stark reason of science – many feel science is directly anti-religious rather than pro-reason. All Deniers hate progressives and when progressives are for something, conservatives are generally “agin” it.

There’s no easy way to say this, but most conservatives are either not able (or of elites, unwilling) to evaluate evidence independently if the evidence does not support their ideology. I’ve said many times that most of what conservatives hold as sacred dogma is not supported by the evidence. Or as the modern philosopher, and conservative blowhard, Stephen Colbert said, “Reality has a well-known liberal bias”.

He also said, “… it doesn’t seem to matter what facts are. It used to be, everyone was entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. But that’s not the case anymore. Facts matter not at all. Perception is everything. It’s certainty. People love the president (Bush) because he’s certain of his choices as a leader, even if the facts that back him up don’t seem to exist. It’s the fact that he’s certain that is very appealing to a certain section of the country. I really feel a dichotomy in the American populace. What is important? What you want to be true (truthiness), or what is true?”

We progressives have to tiptoe around the obvious reality that our conservative brethren are ignorant and that conservatives try to hide it with their dishonesty.

Sorry, ‘tarded johnny, but that’s just too much weapons grade stupidity for a response.

  6. drowningpuppies says:

    Uh, ditto, little jeffy,

  7. Jeffery says:

    suckingpuppies,

We get it. You and your ilk live a life of constant fear. Iranian nukes, Mexicans, Muslims, smart people, nice people, Black people… If you spent as much time trying to understand as you spend hating you might actually learn something. Oh, who am I kidding, lol. Your authoritarian leaders count on, they depend on, you staying terribly afraid. But if you are to grow, you must realize that fear is not always based on reason.

  8. drowningpuppies says:

    Thanks for caring.

  9. jl says:

J_”You and your ilk live a life of constant fear..” Is that sorta like you and your ilk living and spreading constant fear about non-existent global warming? Jeffery again ends up making the argument for the other side. John-“you believed the hype about Saddams’s nukes..” Geez, John-do you read? It was thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction which could include nukes but by definition doesn’t have to. Which he did. Why would you believe the hype that he didn’t?

  10. Jeffery says:

    j,

“You and your ilk live a life of constant fear..” Is that sorta like you and your ilk living and spreading constant fear about non-existent global warming?

No, and the difference is obvious. Global warming is a real threat while the danger of Iranians, Muslims, Mexicans and Black guys is exaggerated.
