TSA Finally Defends Cupcakegate

Yes, that’s right, “Cupcakegate.” In other words, Blogger Bob at the Official TSA Blog is making light of a woman being denied the ability to take a cupcake on a flight out of Las Vegas, despite making it through the Boston airport

(TSA Morons Blog) This will be short and “sweet.” Like many of you, when I think of a cupcake, I don’t think of it being in a jar. However, the photo below shows the “cupcake” that was prohibited from being taken into the cabin of a plane last month.

I wanted to make it clear that this wasn’t your everyday, run-of-the-mill cupcake. If you’re not familiar with it, we have a policy directly related to the UK liquid bomb plot of 2006 called 3-1-1 that  limits the amount of liquids, gels and aerosols you can bring in your carry-on luggage. Icing falls under the “gel” category.  As you can see from the picture, unlike a thin layer of icing that resides on the top of most cupcakes, this cupcake had a thick layer of icing inside a jar.

OMG, icing inside a jar! Carried by a dangerous looking woman from the suburbs (watch the video). If it was being carried by a Middle Eastern looking gent with a long beard and carrying a Koran, yeah, perhaps a concern. TSA could have said “open it up and take a bite”, but, no, no flight for you, Wendy Wasp!

Blogger Bob even mentions two previous incidents where gels were a danger, which involved….that’s right, Islamists! One Anonymous commenter writes

As for “Every officer wants to finish their shift and go home with the peace of mind that they kept potential threats off of airplanes,” did the “officer” involved (who has since been named in the press) really believe he had kept a potential threat off of an airplane, or did he believe that he had demonstrated his and TSA’s power over an innocent citizen, making an example of them?

If only TSA would have such diligence when dealing with actual security threats, you know, members of the Religion that has been involved in the vast majority of security incidents over the past 40 years.

PS: What’s also really sad is that the TSA is using a Blogspot account for their official blog, which is still not as sad as TSA treating cupcakes carried by Wendy Wasp as real security threats. But, then, tinpot dictators and all…..

Lets do this. Lets do a study like we do in medical care, for one year there will be two planes going to any given city. In one, everybody is screened like now. In the other, there is no TSA at all, only a locked door to the pilot. Check these parameters, number of terrorist incidents, number of people who request each plane, amount of time in line and delay of baggage, thief, etc. I am willing to bet that in 6 months they have to stop the study due to the overwhelming success of the non-secured plane. Oh, the second plane gets to carry guns.

Watching the video, she seems a really nice lady, and the last person who would be a bomber anywhere.

Security always disturbs me at airport. I have a steel rod in my leg, and sometimes the detector goes off, sometimes not. In December 2001, I went through security at Newark, NJ 4 times, no one said boo.
