Despite CO2 Reduction, May Is Reported To Be Hottest May Ever

Hey, remember when the climate cultists claimed that CO2 was the control knob? Oh, and that there was a massive reduction of CO2 output during lockdown?

Last month was the hottest May on record, as the world creeps closer to a dangerous threshold

Last month was the hottest May on record worldwide, a European climate agency has reported, with temperatures in Siberia rising 10 degrees Celsius (18 degrees Fahrenheit) above their normal levels.

Globally, May was 0.63 degrees Celsius warmer than the average May between 1981 and 2010, making it the warmest May in this data record, the Copernicus Climate Change Service said.

Apparently, history only goes back to 1981. Usually the Warmists at least use a time frame going back into the 1960’s, when the world was in the midst of a slight cooling period, not during a period when it was warming (like happens during a Holocene warm period). Notice the difference between the headline and the part I’ve marked in bold.

And when compared with pre-industrial figures, their recordings indicate that the world is creeping dangerously close to the temperature threshold that international organizations warn would be so devastating to the planet if exceeded.

The Copernicus figures correlate to a 1.26 degree Celsius rise on pre-industrial levels for May. Global temperatures must be kept from rising above 1.5 degrees Celsius on those levels to avoid major impacts on the climate, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has concluded.

Yeah, they keep warning, but none of them are willing to practice what they preach.

Anyhow, it may have been very warm in Russia, but, I had my heat off and on during May. I forgot one time and woke up to 61 in the house. That was more of March weather.

If CO2 is truly the control knob, one would expect a brief reduction of temperatures, or at least no increase, right? It couldn’t possibly be something else in charge, like during the rest of the Earth’s history, could it?

More: ran across this from Paul Homewood while setting up the IAYS post, in which he is discussing a BBC report about it being the hottest May ever for the world and the UK

I make no comment about the global numbers, but would simply point out that none of the official agencies have released their data for May. The BBC claim comes from Copernicus, the EU agency, not regarded as a reliable source.

However the BBC claim about the UK is hopelessly wide of the mark. According to the Met Office, last month was only the 15th warmest May since 1884, and was not even as warm as 1893 and 1911!

That’s why Copernicus wants to use the 1981-2010 figure.

Raleigh Protest Leaders Demand To “Defund The Police”

And the demands are “non-negotiable”

(WRAL) Faisal Khan, the organizer of last Saturday’s protest in Raleigh and founder of Carolina Peace Center, spoke at a press conference on Friday. He discussed the life of George Floyd, his tragic death and the demands his organization and others have in the wake of the protests, riots and violence here and across the country. He also criticized the efforts of the Raleigh Police Department and Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown.

“We are here to continue our demand list,” Khan said. “They are non-negotiable. We have the intentions of making sure that those demands are met. Until then, we will continue to fight for justice.

Several people at the press conference were wearing T-shirts that listed the demands:

  • Step down (Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra) Deck-Brown
  • Oversight with Accountability
  • Defund the Police
  • Good Cops, Step Up
  • Invest in People

If the police are defunded, there’s no need for 1,2, and 4, because there would be no police chief, no need for oversight on something that no longer exists, and no good cops stepping up, right? These are “non-negotiable”, though. Good luck with that. You can watch the video at the link.

BTW, one of the “activists” involved was arrested for felony failure to return a motor vehicle. I can guess why he wants the police defunded. Anyhow, also WRAL

At a news conference Friday, organizers of Raleigh Demands Justice and other groups wore T-shirts that said what the organizers want: a stronger police oversight board, less funding for the police department were at the top of the list along with Raleigh Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown to step down.

Wait, is it less funding or defund? A large group of activist groups put out a statement through the NC ACLU, which has this

That’s a whole lot different from “defund the police”, is it not? As for #5, perhaps they could explain how that would work?

NJ Becomes First State To Incorporate Climate Crisis (scam) Indoctrination Into K-12

Hey, gotta get them young, right? Makes you wonder what part of the education system, designed to educate children to prepare them for the adult world and adult jobs, will be removed/reduced?

New Jersey becomes first state to incorporate climate change in K-12 curriculum

New Jersey will become the first state to incorporate climate change into the curriculum of kindergartners through high school seniors, state officials announced Wednesday.

The new standards, which take effect in September 2021 and 2022, offer a broad outline that will allow school districts to craft instruction based on why the planet is warming and what can be done to mitigate it.

Anyone want to bet that it will an utterly one sided debate, which is not science? That the kids won’t be just provided with facts and data which will allow them to make their own decisions?

Especially when the schools will continue to use fossil fueled buses to get kids to and from school, including for school trips and sporting events. That the teachers will not give up their own use of fossil fueled vehicles. That the schools will use fossil fueled vehicles to maintain the schools, bring in food and supplies.

Yeah, so when does the state stop using fossil fuels? Turn the AC up to 85 and heat down to 50? Replace all those trucks used for maintaining the roads with non-fossil fueled ones? Do they really exist? Replace the fossil fueled fire trucks and ambulances, police cars and police boats. No use of coal or natural gas to power state functions. Heck, let’s go full Warmist and ban the use of natural gas in private homes. See how this goes.

Minneapolis Vows To Dismantle Police Department, Replace With Something Transformative

In all fairness, the police department needs a good looking at, because Officer Derek Chauvin felt just fine kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for over 8 minutes. He looked at a camera and wasn’t worried. The dude is either nuts or there is a big problem with his precinct. We did learn that 2 of the officers charged were on the job for less than 4 days. And perhaps the whole of the Minneapolis PD needs review if one precinct is out of control. But, this?

Minneapolis City Council vows to ‘dismantle’ police department: report

Members of the Minneapolis City Council pledged to “dismantle” the city’s police department in the wake of worldwide protests over the killing of George Floyd.

Council President Lisa Bender joined several other members in promises to drastically change how public safety is upheld in the city.

“We are going to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department and replace it with a transformative new model of public safety,” Bender tweeted.

Bender Joined colleagues like Jeremiah Ellison, who said reforms to the department are not enough.

“And when we’re done, we’re not simply gonna glue [the department] back together,” tweeted Jeremiah Ellison. “We are going to dramatically rethink how we approach public safety and emergency response.”

Let’s not forget that this police department is in a city run by Democrats who already set the policies

Bender told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that she envisions replacing a traditional police department with a broader, more holistic public safety department geared toward violence prevention and community services. Social workers or medics could respond to situations once handled by police, she said.

Oh, that would be interesting. They could bring comforting words and a juice box after you’ve been assaulted and robbed, and the perp will just walk free.

Much like those who want to defund the police, Minneapolis should do this, acting as the experimental group, so we can see Progressive Law Enforcement in action. Citizens of Minneapolis who vote Democrat would not be allowed to move out of the city for a period of time, say, 10 years, in order to make sure the experiment runs properly (and to make them deal with the fallout and consequences of their support of Democrats and their polices, rather than escaping when things go pear shaped).

The mayor isn’t a fan of this plan, so, the citizens who hate the police will probably have him voted out. Whether the whole council supports this remains to be seen.

Despite Coronavirus, 3rd World Countries Want Their Climate Crisis (scam) Money

This really isn’t about science, is it

ANALYSIS-Despite the pandemic, frontline nations push ahead on stronger climate plans

The coronavirus pandemic may have delayed the 2020 U.N. climate summit by a year, but for Jamaica, COVID-19 was no reason to stall delivering a stronger climate action plan, just completed as the Atlantic hurricane season starts.

Una May Gordon, director of the climate change division at the island’s Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, said the Caribbean nation aimed to submit its updated “nationally determined contribution” (NDC) to the global effort to battle climate change later this month, after approval by the cabinet.

Jamaica benefited from starting work on its second climate plan early, last July, and had already consulted with key sectors – energy and, this time around, forestry – before the coronavirus hit, Gordon told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

If all goes according to schedule, Jamaica will soon join a handful of other countries that have already met a deadline to unveil more ambitious climate plans in 2020 – including Norway, Suriname, the Marshall Islands and Rwanda.

Submitting plans isn’t quite the same as actually implementing those plans.

This week, U.N. climate chief Patricia Espinosa appealed to governments not to let the economic and social fallout from the COVID-19 crisis derail their efforts to curb global warming. (big snip)

The largest carbon-polluting countries have yet to announce more ambitious emissions-cutting targets – and many are now distracted by economic recession brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Right, right, a pandemic is a distraction. Only members of a cult would say that.

Mohamed Adow, director of Nairobi-based climate and energy think-tank Power Shift Africa, said COVID-19 should not be used as an excuse by countries to shirk delivering better climate plans in 2020.

Nor should it let rich nations avoid their promise to raise an annual $100 billion in climate finance for developing nations starting this year.

“COVID has shown us that trillions (of dollars) can easily be made available… when the political will is there,” he said, referring to plans for huge coronavirus recovery packages.

Yes, trillions for our own citizens because of the pain of COVID19. 3rd world nations just want free, easy money. Foreign aid used to have strings attached to it. Climate cash, though, is positioned as these nations being owed because those giving the money owe the 3rd world nations because of their big carbon footprints, hence, no strings. Not about science.

Governors Whitmer, Cooper March With Protesters: So, Lockdown Is Fully Over, Right?

Oh, look, it’s one of the most restrictive, abusive, dictatorial governors in the nation regarding Coronavirus

Video: Gretchen Whitmer Violates Own Social Distancing Order During Protest, Chants ‘Hands Up Don’t Shoot’

On Thursday morning, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer told protesters to wear a mask and stay six feet apart. Later in the day, she appeared to violate her own rules.

“I encourage everyone who is protesting, if you are out demonstrating or out congregating at all, please wear a mask and please try to stay six feet away from others,” she said on Mojo In The Morning.

She marched along as the closely packed large group chanted, “Hands up, don’t shoot,” and “This is what democracy looks like.”

Whitmer, wearing a cloth mask, was standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Bishop Charles Ellis and Lt. Gov. Garland Gilchrist.

It wasn’t democracy when re-open folks were protesting peacefully, ya know. And we all know that the “hands up don’t shoot” thing is a bunch of mule fritters, plus, George Floyd was not shot. Oh, and if the gov is taking sides with the protesters it could make it harder to convict the officers involved, what is known as “command influence”. Defense will have a field day with this.

Tiffany Brown claimed the “unity march” didn’t violate Whitmer’s latest order because it states, “Nothing in this order shall be taken to abridge protections guaranteed by the state or federal constitution.”

“That includes the right to peaceful protest,” she said.

Except when people want to reopen the state. Or garden. Or go to their upstate homes. You can’t pick and choose which protests are OK, which gathering are OK. People couldn’t attend funerals, church services, and so much more. It is pure politics.

And then there’s this, which I missed, because it was very quietly published in the news, almost no Raleigh or NC outlets bothered, because then people would be saying “I guess the lockdown is fully over, right?”

(CBS Raleigh) Gov. Roy Cooper came out of the Executive Mansion early Monday evening and greeted a group protesting on Blount Street.

The group was sitting in the roadway and began chanting “march with us.”

Cooper then began to walk south on Blount Street and around the block.

There’s only two other short paragraphs.

https://twitter.com/CarolinaCat12/status/1268600876698140676

The video at the CBS link shows him without a mask and being too close. Granted, under Cooper we haven’t seen beyond stupid restrictions like with Whitmer, and no reports of cops hastling people, but, we are still not fully reopened. Bars and gyms, among others, are closed. Though Cooper is hinting at allowing them to open earlier than intended.

And then there was super-restrictive Bill de Blasio, who was booed at a George Floyd memorial (huh, not a protest), who sent in the cops when people were gathering together, when they weren’t social distancing, when they had parties, when they held prayers, who scolded people for practicing religion together, and was in a large gathering himself and not wearing a mask.

Personally, I am fine with keeping social distancing going and reduced numbers of people in businesses for a bit more, I’d personally rather be safe (hate the mask, fine with no shaking hands). These Democratic Party politicians are proving so much of this lockdown was pure politics.

Climate Cultist Says It’s Time To Call Out Denialism Of Racism And Hotcoldwetdry

The hijacking of current events continues

It’s time to call out denialism — on racism and on climate change

Can you believe it’s 2020 and Rex Murphy still has a platform to spout denialism on climate change — and on racism?

On May 15 in the National Post, Murphy responded to the federal government’s increased carbon tax by characterizing CO2 as the “Santa Claus of gases” and accusing the government of having an “obsession” with “so-called” carbon emissions.

On June 1, in the wake of global anti-racism protests and Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna’s supportive tweet, the National Post published another column in which Murphy declared, “Canada is not a racist country” and characterized the racism issue as an invention of the Liberals, a non-issue.

Move along, nothing to see here.

The rhetoric is so absurd, it is almost laughable — fodder for The Beaverton. Almost. To brush it aside is tempting, but dangerous.

In case you were wondering, this is Canada, which isn’t really a bastion of free speech on certain subjects.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But newspapers — especially mass media outlets — must stick to facts and be held accountable when they do not.

So, censoring Wrongthink

I doubt a single person reading this questions the reality and seriousness of climate change. Even the oil companies — like the ones Murphy has accepted speaking fees from — have long known that fossil fuels are causing CO2 levels to rise and it is a serious concern.

I doubt it.

Should we point Murphy to federal government statistics showing that between 2005 and 2015, the number of Black Canadians in federal prisons increased by 77.5 per cent, Indigenous prisoners increased 52.4 per cent, and white prisoners decreased by 6.8 per cent? Or inform him that Black men in Toronto are 3.4 times more likely to be pulled over by police? Or point out that Canada is often not “tolerant and welcoming” to the extent that one in five Muslims across Canada reported they experienced discrimination due to their religion?

Muslims is not a race. But, hey, Greig Oldford is on a roll!

To present these issues fairly, both sides must be grounded in reality. Murphy’s columns present factually incorrect arguments on issues that disproportionately affect minorities and marginalized people. To publish these pieces is to promote denialism on two of the greatest issues of our time. Denial is a form of misinformation and misinformation can harm people.

Remember the days of “sticks and stones can break my bones but names can never hurt me”? Now they create trigger warnings. Regardless, this is just another attempt to hijack what’s going on in cities run by people with the same beliefs as Greig who made up the climate change scam and also work to keep black people down.

It Begins: Los Angeles To Reinvest Up To $150 Million From LAPD Budget To Communities Of Color

And what happens when LA become awash in violence? Who will LA blame?

As peaceful protests continue, LAPD budget could be cut by up to $150 million to reinvest in communities of color

As protests over police brutality and the death of George Floyd stretched into a sixth day, Los Angeles officials said Wednesday that they will look to cut $100 million to $150 million from the city’s police budget as part of a broader effort to reinvest more dollars into the black community.

In all, Mayor Eric Garcetti pledged that the city would “identify $250 million in cuts so we can invest in jobs, in health, in education and in healing,” especially in the city’s black community “as well as communities of color and women and people who have been left behind.”

Those cuts, he said, would be “to every department, including the Police Department, because we all have to be part of this solution together. We all have to step up and say, ‘What can we sacrifice?’”

Eileen Decker, president of the Los Angeles Police Commission, said that effort includes identifying $100 million to $150 million in cuts from the Police Department — something City Council President Nury Martinez and other council members had called for earlier in the day. The LAPD’s total annual budget is $1.86 billion.

Garcetti also said the city will impose a moratorium on placing people in a statewide database for identifying and tracking gang members — which reform advocates had lobbied for — and will require officers to intervene when they see inappropriate use of force and report misconduct.

In fairness, that’s around 5% of their budget, and, like so much government, how much of of the department’s budget is just waste? Do they really need $1.86 billion? Can they make do with $1.71-1.16 billion? Or are they already underfunded? Will the money redistributed make a difference to deal with the problems created in a Democratic Party run city to help people who vote for the people who help create the problems?

News of Garcetti’s announcement was met with mixed reaction among the demonstrators outside.

Carter Gregory, 26, said it was a good first step. “I think he’s listening and needs to keep going,” he said.

What’s that old saying about feeding an alligator? And the one about giving an inch and them wanting to take a mile?
