Eco-Nuts Push No-Wash/Low-Wash For Clothes

How soon till the eco-wackos start pushing for government to regulate

This growing laundry trend will save you money and is better for your clothes — here’s why some people are resisting change

Consumerism has many positive benefits for the economy, but it leads to a significant amount of waste. This has resulted in a new generation of neighborhood advocates. Many are championing new ways of laundry care, giving rise to “no-wash” and “low-wash” laundry movements.

Water usage, energy consumption, and renewed attention to chemical waste and packaging-associated practices drive an ecological call to action. Grassroots communities actively seek new ways to care for their garments for a more traditional, greener lifestyle.

“No-wash” and “low-wash” movements drive shared beliefs that frequent laundering is unnecessary for maintaining clean, odor-free clothing. Our communities are becoming aware, and there’s growing support for traditional ways of cleaning clothes.

Excessive washing wastes water and energy. At the same time, standard laundering contributes to garments’ wear and tear. And exposure to harmful chemicals contained in conventional laundry detergents is terrible for us and our planet.

But using healthier alternative methods for refreshing and caring for our clothes can include spot-cleaning, airing, freezing, or using eco-friendly fabric sprays and lowering water temperature to save energy.

Unfortunately, the same people pushing this surely bathe less and fail to use deodorant.

The “no-wash” and “low-water” laundry care movement extends beyond laundering to include eco-friendly alternatives in other areas, such as dishwashing, personal hygiene, and household cleaning.

This holistic approach to sustainable living underscores the broader mission of these communities: to challenge societal norms and actively seek sustainability. Small changes in our daily routines can contribute to an eco-friendlier future for generations.

If they want to do this, have at it. Don’t try and force the rest of use to participate.

Starbucks Learns A Valuable Lesson As Extreme Rainbow Folks Strike

About a dozen Starbucks workers picketed outside New York’s Astor Place location in lower Manhattan on Sunday afternoon near the route of the city’s Pride parade, chanting: “New York is a union town! On strike! Shut it down!”

Union members handed out flyers and talked to passersby about the action, while several customers chose not to enter in support of the strike.

With Pride marches underway in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago and Starbucks’ hometown Seattle, some baristas and other workers at the coffee chain said they were angered by the dispute.

A spokesperson said on Sunday that “we unwaveringly support the LGBTQIA2+ community. It would be inaccurate to report that Starbucks stores are banning any decorations as there has been no change to company policy on this matter.”

But, at the end of the day, they are a business. Their job is to sell coffee and all the other weird stuff they have. That’s it. They made a mistake when they said anyone could use the bathrooms even if they didn’t purchase anything. And then had tons of homeless making the stores filthy and leaving drug needles all over. They bought into BLM, and then it hurt their business, so they banned it (and most political stuff), and caught a load of crap. They allowed the rainbow alphabet folks to have stuff up for a bit, and that hurt business, and now they are taking crap from their employees. It’s one thing to do some good, have some charitable endeavors, be responsible, but, eventually it crosses the line and blows up a smooth running organization.

Though the conflict is gaining attention now, it began brewing a year ago, when the Workers United union said the company threatened union organizers – many of whom say they are queer or trans – with reduced hours that would leave them unable to qualify for health insurance, which covers gender reassignment surgery and other affirming procedures.

Starbucks has denied that it changed the coverage, calling the accusations “false claims” in a June 14 letter to Workers United International President Lynne Fox and seen by Reuters.

Sounds like a shakedown of a generous company.

“Once we decided to unionize, they were like, we’ve had enough of this progressive stuff,” said Jackie Zhou, 21, a shift supervisor at a New York City Starbucks at Astor Place, where workers held a strike on Sunday.

Someone finally realize it had went too far.

Sam Cornetta, a barista at the Farmingville, New York, Starbucks, who joined coworkers on strike at Astor Place on Sunday, said the company was alienating LGBTQ+ workers.

“They’ve used their claim to be a progressive, inclusive company to kind of attract those kinds of people,” Cornetta, 23, said. “There’s a performative aspect.”

Expect Starbucks stores to be a lot more cautious in who they hire in the future, which will mean the militants will slowly attrit away.

People’s Republik Of NYC Cracks Down On Pizzerias Due To “Carbon Pollution”

Historic Big Apple pizza joints could be forced to dish out mounds of dough under a proposed city edict targeting pollutant-spewing coal-and-wood-fired ovens, The Post has learned.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has drafted new rules that would order eateries using the decades-old baking method to slice carbon emissions by up to 75%.

“All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” DEP spokesman Ted Timbers said in a statement Sunday. “This common-sense rule, developed with restaurant and environmental justice groups, requires a professional review of whether installing emission controls is feasible.”

The rule could require pizzerias with such ovens installed prior to May 2016 to buy pricey emission-control devices — with the owner of one Brooklyn joint saying he’s already tossed $20,000 on an air filter system in anticipation of the new mandate.

All for a cult related scam

“Oh yeah, it’s a big expense!” said Paul Giannone, the owner of Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint. “It’s not just the expense of having it installed, it’s the maintenance. I got to pay somebody to do it, to go up there every couple of weeks and hose it down and you know do the maintenance.”

Certainly, all those pizza places and other joints which have these types of ovens (I assume by coal they mean charcoal, like people use in the backyard) won’t pass on the costs to consumers, right? Hopefully they’ll have an extra line on their receipts showing this.

In fairness, this can reduce actual air pollutants from those types of ovens. If you’ve ever used a charcoal grill, you know what I mean. CO2? Just stop, cultists. Also, I’m not necessarily a fan of those really hot wood ovens they use for pizza. I think it cooks too fast. I like those big metal ones which are in the 400F range. Not a big fan of that really crispy crust. Still, government needs to be so dictatorial.

Apparently, Men Trying To Save The Planet Buying EVs Is Sexist

Funny how it’s always something sexist or racist or this or that or the other when it comes to what we’re told is a science

New report reveals the troubling reason more men own electric vehicles than women: ‘You have to think [it] through’

Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more popular in recent years, with more manufacturers releasing their own models and more buyers making the switch. However, according to S&P Global, 72% of EVs are purchased by men and only 28% by women — even though overall car purchases are split 50/50.

Several factors play into the EV purchase gap, according to Inside Climate News. One is price: while EVs tend to be cheaper to maintain than gas-powered vehicles, they cost more upfront.

Since women make less money than men on average, women are less likely to buy an expensive vehicle. White buyers are also more likely to choose an EV than people of color for the same reason.

So, what they’re saying is that EVs are very expensive? Perhaps women are just more practical when it comes to vehicles and just do not want an EV? Could it possibly be a personal choice? Perhaps they do not think that purchasing an EV is a wise decision.

“There’s also the fact that women said that they have less familiarity with the fundamentals of owning an [EV],” said Quinta Warren, associate director of sustainability policy at Consumer Reports, which surveyed 8,000 people about the divide between male and female EV owners. “So I think a way to address all of this, obviously, is some exposure, some education, to create more familiarity.”

Maybe women just do not care. Did anyone think that? Or, maybe the EV climate cultists just think women are stupid.

But perhaps the largest factor is safety.

Unlike gas-powered cars, which can be filled up in just a few minutes, Inside Climate News points out that EVs take as much as half an hour to charge, meaning the driver is stuck at the charger for at least that long.

While gas stations usually have attendants close at hand, EV chargers can often be isolated at the far ends of parking lots or in unpleasant neighborhoods. This creates a safety issue for women, who are likely to be more worried about being vulnerable to assault while charging their cars.

We can solve this by empowering women to go out armed. And, quite frankly, this applies to men. There’s a big EV charging lot behind Target on Six Forks Rd in Raleigh, and, it can be somewhat isolated, especially at night.

“As usual, because men were making most of the decisions, they were not walking through the scenarios,” Andrea Colomina, the sustainable communities program director at Green Latinos, told Inside Climate News. “You have to think through what is the experience of every potential user.”

So, it’s pretty much all sexism. EVs are a gadget. Men tend to be into gadgets more than women, and usually care more about the mechanics of things like autos. The vast majority of performance vehicles like the Subaru WRX, Honda Si and Type R, Toyota Supra, etc, are bought by men. Most women do not care. So, should be fun trying to force women into them.

Bummer: Biden’s DOJ Fighting Relief Claims For Separated Illegal Alien Families

There’s something very interesting missing from this incredibly long USA Today piece

Biden promised to end family separations. So why is DOJ fighting relief claims in court?

The question from a Phoenix immigration supervisor came in on her BlackBerry: Should a parent and child apprehended at the border be separated? The response from Michelle Lee, an administrator with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Arizona, came back in two minutes: yes.

That is among many inside details of the most controversial of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” efforts that are woven through recently unsealed court documents related to nearly 40 lawsuits filed against the government.

As one of his first actions in office, President Joe Biden followed through on a campaign promise when he vowed to end the “moral and national shame” of his predecessor’s immigration policies and halt the prosecution of parents for often minor immigration violations that were used to justify the separations.

Yet today, the Department of Justice is actively defending those very policies in court. By doing so, it in effect is asking families to decide whether reliving their pain is worth a potential payout. Families and their attorneys say they shouldn’t have to make that choice.

Interesting, since kids were separated from their parents during the Obama admin, and, who was vice president during that time period? Granted, it was not really and official policy, but, it happened quite a bit, since they were also not sure if the adult were the actual parents, or, simply running those kids into the US. Remember all the photos of kids in cages and Democrats freaking out in 2018? Yeah, mostly over what they were seeing from the Obama era.

And let’s not forget that the Biden admin has also been keeping kids in cages separated from the adults, as the NY Times itself admitted.

One mother separated from her children in 2018, who spoke to USA TODAY on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, said she was disappointed that the U.S. government is fighting to deny them justice.

“My children may be forced to go through daylong questioning by government lawyers and medical examiners who will try to blame me for what happened to them,” she said in Spanish. “I’m terrified that they’ll be taken away from me again and forced to relive the trauma of the separation. Families like mine have suffered enough.”

You should be reunited with them and deported. Unless her asylum claim has been accepted, of which the percentage is very low, why is she still in the US?

The conflict between policy and action comes down to protecting the powers of the presidency and reducing future payouts to the families.

“It’s ironic that while candidate Biden said that family separation was abhorrent, as a president he’s allowing his Justice Department attorneys to fight these cases,” said Stephen Yale-Loehr, a professor of immigration law practice at Cornell University. But, he said, “every administration wants to preserve its flexibility and discretion on immigration, because immigration affects our sovereignty and foreign affairs.”

Monetary settlement talks have fizzled, although some of the attorneys for the families continue to hold out hope for an agreement. Some of the lawsuits that have advanced the furthest in the legal process are under protective orders, so attorneys are not allowed to discuss the specifics of the cases or the interrogation of families. As the cases move forward, however, they are preparing to prove their claims, including by preparing their clients for depositions.

Why would we give cash settlements to people who came illegally? There’s a simple solution: immediately deport them all. If they want to apply for asylum, do it outside the US. Nowhere in the article does it delve into Obama and Biden separating kids.

Hot Take: US Needs Diplomatic Blitz After Wagner Group Coup

The U.S. Needs a Diplomatic Blitz to Fill the Power Vacuum the Wagner Coup Leaves Behind

It’s likely to take several more days, if not weeks and months, to make sense of the unusual insurrection staged by the leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin. But already it’s clear that Russia is facing twin crises, one at home and one abroad. (snip)

The aborted coup attempt exposes the fragility of Putin’s regime at home. Before the Wagner offensive was called off, Putin turned to Chechen strongman Ramzan Kadyrov for assistance, with the latter dispatching his own mercenaries, known as Akhmat, to help quell the rebellion. That Chechen forces had to come to the rescue of the Kremlin is ironic in its own right, but it also signals something more troubling for the longer-term prospects of Putin’s rule: Even with the Wagner uprising temporarily quelled, the brazen nature of the assault will likely lead to problems elsewhere, both at home in Russia, but also in its sphere of influence around the world. (many paragraphs about the Wagner group and their operations and influence around the world)

If Wagner winds up being pulled out of some of the countries where it currently operates, that could create an opening for a U.S. diplomatic blitz to help figure out how to fill the resulting power vacuum and regain influence in those areas. In particular, there could be an opening in some African countries where Washington might be able to offer security cooperation or build partner capacity arrangements in exchange for pledges to move toward democratic or good governance initiatives. With China also making inroads into Africa, this is an opportunity the United States should not let pass.

Yeah, this is the foreign policy mess of an administration that the NY Times essentially called a steam mess

Biden faces an era when treaties are more likely to be broken than brokered

President Biden leaves today for Northern Ireland to mark the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which ended decades of sectarian violence. But the commemoration also serves as an unspoken reminder that such diplomatic breakthroughs have become a thing of the past.

At a time of ferocious warfare in Europe and crackling tension elsewhere around the globe, the sort of bold, painstaking negotiation that brought peace to the Emerald Isle a quarter-century ago has largely disappeared from the scene. Bargaining tables sit empty these days. Shuttle diplomacy planes have been grounded. Treaties are more likely to be broken than brokered.

It would be too much to call it the death of diplomacy, but there certainly is a dearth of diplomacy for now. While Biden fervently believes in deal making, his efforts to revive the Iran nuclear accord have collapsed, and it is widely considered futile to even try to end the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict or negotiate with North Korea at this point. The Russians have suspended the New START treaty, the last major Russian-American arms control agreement, and there appears to be little prospect for diplomacy to halt the fighting in Ukraine in the near term.

This is the same admin which f’ed up the Afghanistan withdrawal, which set the conditions where Russia felt comfortable invading Ukraine, which gave the green light for China to invade Taiwan recently, initially told Americans stuck in Sudan that they were on their own, losing massive influence in Africa and Israel, and even Britain is moving away. Why would anyone think the Biden admin would have any influence and be able to do a diplomacy blitz?

Federal Judge Greenlights Exposing Children To Smut

Federal judge blocks Florida from enforcing ban on minors attending drag shows

A federal judge in central Florida on Friday temporarily blocked the state from enforcing a new law banning minors from attending drag shows.

The judge, Gregory Presnell, was acting on a request by the restaurant chain Hamburger Mary’s, which sued Florida last month claiming that the law was overly broad and put a chilling effect on the right to free speech under the First Amendment.

Pretty sure that there’s no free speech involved in keeping minors out of strip clubs. No one under 16 can get a tattoo in Florida, and parental consent is required for those 16 and 17. Heck, parents need to give consent for most medical procedures. But, we’re also really talking about young children, most of whom aren’t even out of grade school yet, and many who are under 10.

Presnell, an appointee of former President Bill Clinton, determined that while some people may find a drag performer reading a children’s book to a minor during a performance to be inappropriate, it doesn’t necessarily constitute an obscene performance. He also stated that current obscenity laws already “provide Defendant with the necessary authority to protect children from any constitutionally unprotected obscene exhibitions or shows.”

Florida’s Republican-led Legislature passed the measure in April that bars minors from attending drag shows with “lewd” performances. Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is running for president, signed it into law in mid-May. The governor previously said such drag performances “sexualize” kids and has pushed for stricter restrictions around them.

Are strip clubs where they don’t get naked “lewd”? The kids see this same amount of skin on the beaches. But, they are banned.

Jeremy Redfern, DeSantis’ press secretary, said in a statement that the administration believes the “judge’s opinion is dead wrong and [we] look forward to prevailing on appeal.”

Hamburger Mary’s frequently hosts “family-friendly” drag performances where children are invited to perform.

Yeah, we’ve seen the family friendly performances that people have filmed.
