The danger of establishing red lines is that you have to actually do something about them. Obama learned a hard lesson after yammering about them in regards to Syria, and then not doing anything about it for a long time
Trump says Iran ‘starting to’ cross US red lines as protesters die in government crackdown
Trump saying hello to Judge Sara
President Donald Trump said Sunday that Iran is “starting to” cross U.S. red lines, citing reports of civilian deaths and warning that any attack on American interests would be met with overwhelming force as his administration weighs what he called “very strong options.”
Trump spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling from Palm Beach, Florida, back to Washington, D.C., after being asked whether Iran had crossed a threshold that would trigger a response.
“They’re starting to, it looks like, and there seem to be some people killed that aren’t supposed to be killed,” the president said. “These are violent — if you call them leaders, I don’t know if they’re leaders or just if they rule through violence. And, we’re looking at some very strong options. We’ll make a determination.”
Some protesters were killed in a stampede while others were shot, Trump later said, adding that he receives hourly briefings and will decide based on ongoing reports.
The question here is will Trump do something? Based on history, he’s not bluffing in a case like this. He will do what he says.
The Associated Press reported Sunday that activists claimed at least 544 people have been killed, with more feared dead. Tehran also warned that the U.S. military and Israel would be considered “legitimate targets” if the U.S. intervenes to protect demonstrators.
More than 10,600 people have been detained during the more than two weeks of protests, according to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, which the AP noted has been accurate during previous unrest. The group said 496 of those killed were protesters and 48 were members of security forces.
Where is the line for Trump?

AND IT IS GOING TO GET A WHOLE LOT WORSE!!!!!
Climate change has now shrunk US salaries by 12%. And worse is to come
Climate change isn’t all flooding, wildfires and melting glaciers – it comes with a price tag too. And if you assume rising temperatures haven’t hit your wallet because you haven’t lost a home to a natural disaster, the latest research suggests otherwise.
A new study finds that climate change has already cut incomes in the US by around 12 per cent since 2000. The figure is a significant increase on previous estimates and a signal that the costs of global warming are not just future projections, but a present-day reality.
“If we can’t figure out what climate change is already costing us with the data we have, projecting the future becomes almost hopeless,” said Derek Lemoine, a professor of economics at the University of Arizona and lead author of the research.
Lemoine’s previous research had put the impact on incomes at a much lower 1 per cent. But his new analysis, which captures how warming unfolds persistently over time and across the entire country, pushes that figure sharply higher.
“Climate change is already costing the US economy by changing temperatures around the country,” Lemoine told BBC Science Focus. “Most of those costs are not driven by changes in weather where you live but by how changes in weather everywhere else affect supply chains and the cost of products you buy from elsewhere in the US.”
1.7F increase since 1850 is really doomy
To isolate that effect, Lemoine had to model the world both with and without manmade greenhouse gas emissions. He then examined 50 years of county-level income data (1969–2019), measuring how changing numbers of hot and cold days affected wealth locally and nationally.
And there it is: model. Complete BS.
Also, Gemini AI really took the old barking moonbat graphic and went to town.
They’re going to quickly learn that they have no power, and, really, most state, county, and local law enforcement will make zero attempt to impede ICE
States move to rein in ICE after fatal Minnesota shooting
Blue state lawmakers have had it with ICE.
State legislatures across the country are accelerating efforts to shape immigration enforcement policy after the deadly shooting of a Minnesota woman by a federal agent, raising tensions between local leaders and the Trump administration.
From California to New York and Illinois to New Jersey, they’re pushing a range of bills aimed at limiting enforcement and protecting people targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, while turning up the rhetoric with comparisons to the Gestapo.
Some policies were moving before an ICE agent fatally shot Renée Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis mother last week. But her death has been cited by lawmakers as reason to squeeze ICE out of their states.
Perhaps these unhinged Democrats should be telling their peeps to not interfere with federal law enforcement, because the lawmakers aren’t the ones getting arrested, maced, run over, thrown to ground, and shot. They’re safely away from the action.
New York state Sen. Pat Fahy, who sponsored a bill that would prohibit ICE agents from wearing masks and one that would create a state dashboard tracking immigration officials’ activity, said “momentum is on our side.”
Like California and the other states giving this a whirl, they have no power to enforce this, especially when they give their own law enforcement the ability to wear masks.
President Donald Trump and other administration officials have also said the agent who shot Good acted in self defense — an account that has been contested by local Minneapolis officials. In a statement to POLITICO, White House Spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended ICE activity and pushed back against state Democratic lawmakers.
Democrats say to ignore your own eyes when you see the video.
In Illinois, a Democratic state senator has filed legislation that would bar anyone hired by ICE under Trump from obtaining employment in state or local law enforcement.
That would be against federal employment law.
Across the Hudson River, New Jersey lawmakers are pushing to codify the state’s practice that limits state and local police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities; bar the government and hospitals from collecting immigration information; and set up guidelines on how health care facilities, schools and other institutions should respond to federal immigration authorities. The suite of bills — which started advancing before the Minnesota shooting — could be on Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk this upcoming week.
Well, hey, if all those police departments, government agencies, hospitals, etc, want to forgo taking federal money and return what they already have they can do that, right?
These are the same types of people that states like NJ and NY are protecting. Unfortunately, elected Republicans suck at getting their message out, for the most part.

Will Democrats caterwaul and come up with Excuses to somehow oppose Trump which would essentially back the Iranian regime? So far all the leftists who backed the murderous Palestinians and their terrorist Comrades in Hamas have little to say, even as Iran shuts off the Internet and ever power across the country
Trump Is Briefed on Options for Striking Iran as Protests Continue
President Trump has been briefed in recent days on new options for military strikes in Iran as he considers following through on his threat to attack the country for cracking down on protesters, according to multiple U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
Mr. Trump has not made a final decision, but the officials said he was seriously considering authorizing a strike in response to the Iranian regime’s efforts to suppress demonstrations set off by widespread economic grievances. The president has been presented with a range of options, including strikes on nonmilitary sites in Tehran, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential conversations.
Asked about planning for potential strikes, the White House referred to Mr. Trump’s public comments and social media posts in recent days.
“Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before,” Mr. Trump wrote on social media on Saturday. “The USA stands ready to help!!!”
Dems wouldn’t actually be against this, would they? I have no problem with strikes, but, keep our troops out of Iran
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone on Saturday morning with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, according to three people with knowledge of the call. The two leaders discussed the protests in Iran, along with the situation in Syria and a peace deal in Gaza, the three people said.
And you can bet the line of attack will be that Trump is striking Iran for the Jeeeeeewwwwws and Israel. So far it is quiet, as all the moonbats are focused on Minneapolis. Hopefully Trump greenlights taking out all the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkia.

Private sector revives the climate disaster database Trump tried to squash
There were 23 separate billion-dollar weather and climate disasters in the United States last year, adding up to a total of $115 billion in damages, according to a new report from the climate research nonprofit Climate Central.
The report, and establishment of the Billion-Dollar Disasters Database within Climate Central, is a rare example of the private sector taking on government responsibilities.
The database allows taxpayers, media and researchers to track the cost of natural disasters, largely through property losses — spanning extreme events from hurricanes to hailstorms. It has been especially useful for the insurance and real estate industries and has been a way for the public to track the effects of fossil fuels on extreme weather and climate events.
The Trump administration halted the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s tracking of that data set in May. Then Climate Central hired Adam Smith, who had produced the disaster reports for NOAA, after he left government service amid cuts made across the oceans and atmosphere agency. Smith brought the database and its methodology with him to Climate Central.
Huh. It’s almost like it’s unnecessary for the Government to be the only one which produces this. How is that possible? But, hey, now Climate Central, a totally 100% non-partisan doomsday cult group, can pay to gather, maintain, and publish this.
Anyhow, I was about to write something more, but, CNN strangely makes the point
The overall increase in billion-dollar disasters over time and in their cost is partly due to human-caused climate change, which is making certain types of extreme weather events more frequent and severe, as well as population growth and suburban sprawl.
In short, there are more homes and businesses that can be affected by severe weather now than there were in 1980, when NOAA began tracking such statistics.
The anthropogenic climate change part is mule fritters, the rest is not. The more buildings and such there are the more chance of damage and the more costly.

How’s that war coming that Democrats, and a couple of loony Republicans, caterwauled about?
After President’s Capture, U.S. and Venezuela Explore Restoring Diplomatic Ties
Less than a week after the United States snatched its president under cover of night, Venezuela said it was exploring restoring diplomatic ties and sending a delegation to Washington to check on its long-shuttered embassy, according to a statement from the interim president, Delcy Rodríguez.
Her government and President Trump’s, according to Ms. Rodríguez, had decided to “initiate an exploratory diplomatic process” that was “aimed at the re-establishment of diplomatic missions in both countries.”
On Friday, U.S. diplomats visited Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, to assess a “potential” resumption of embassy operations for the first time in nearly seven years, a spokeswoman for the State Department confirmed.
The announcements on Friday appeared to represent only tentative first steps, and the relationship between the two countries is changing daily, experts noted.
It’s only been closed since 2019, same with lots of EU embassies since Maduro took over, but, diplomatic ties between the US and Venezuela have been frayed since the early 2000s under Chavez
But news of the possible restoration of diplomatic ties drew attention not only for the breakneck pace at which the two countries’ relationship was evolving, but also because of the head-spinning contradictions it seemed to embody.
It came as Mr. Trump said he was getting along “extremely well” with Venezuela’s government, even though that government is more or less the same government it was a week ago — minus President Nicolás Maduro — when Mr. Trump was mounting his intense pressure campaign.
To add to the contradictions, Ms. Rodríguez announced the move in a statement that began by denouncing the “kidnapping” of Mr. Maduro and a U.S. operation that she said had resulted in dozens of deaths and represented a flagrant violation of the “international legal order.”
Well, Trump is doing Trump. He’s not thinking like a politician, he’s thinking like a businessman, who needs to woo, cajole, and sometimes berate or threaten. Right now it’s a charm offensive. He and Rodriguez are very much opposites (as another Times articles discusses) but, she’s supposedly pragmatic, and you can bet she doesn’t want to lose power. And wants to make some cash out of this. And not go to jail. Not be assassinated by Venezuelan hardcores and gangs. For her, what if she’s in charge as Venezuela’s economy turns around? She’ll look pretty good, eh?
This all has to upset Democrats and their pet media, as they wanted war. Strife.
