After Working Hard To Help Make Ukraine Happen, Media Working To Make Nuclear War Happen

We all know that the news has always in the corner of “if it bleeds, it leads.” And they like to fear-monger, be apoplectic, ramp up the doom and gloom. That might not be the best thing to do in this case, starting with the Washington Post

The Ukraine crisis is now a nuclear crisis

Russia’s publicly announced nuclear alert has turned the Ukraine war from a crisis involving nuclear powers to an actual nuclear crisis.

With the caveat that we do not have many details about what the Russian alert entails, it is nevertheless a clear sign that President Vladimir Putin does not believe that the conventional military campaign in Ukraine is achieving the political outcomes he wants.

Putin has turned to nuclear weapons because they offer another way to increase pressure on both Ukraine and its international backers to come to the settlement that Russia wants regarding Ukraine’s status. Yet his decision raises serious risks of both deliberate and inadvertent nuclear escalation.

This is a scary moment, but it’s not unprecedented or that surprising. Here is why.

A long piece designed to put the scare in people, get them all worried and anxious. All so people will pay attention to the news, and hopefully buy some papers, maybe get an Internet subscription.

Yes, Russia could use nuclear weapons

“Nuclear war is part of our strategic culture. Yes, we would start one if our homeland, our way of life, was threatened, absolutely. Why wouldn’t we?”

That’s what a retired Russian diplomat told me on the sidelines of a track-two dialogue between US, Russian and Chinese experts back in 2012. And to be honest, for several years, I didn’t believe him. I took his comments as bragging, atomic machismo, if you will.

The context of the conversation was a response to a question to my Russian colleague on the subject of Moscow’s nuclear weapons doctrine and thinking. Russia for several years has believed in the concept of escalating nuclear tensions to deescalate tensions, or what defense scholars call “escalate to deescalate.” (snip)

Back in 2012, I pressed my Russian colleague, asking in what other situations Russia would use nuclear weapons, if any. He explained that “if anything threatens our ability to exist as a nation and prosper, it is my view that we would use nuclear weapons.”

I didn’t believe him then, but I do now.

With Russian President Vladimir Putin now putting his nation’s nuclear forces on alert status, Moscow is signaling to us that recent arms shipments, sanctions, lashings in the media, and pressure placed on the Putin government are rattling nerves.

This one is actually much better analysis that the Washington Post piece, which seems more like your typical know-it-all liberal reporter who knows nothing, but, is still fearmongering. And

There are plenty of links, more than plenty. Surprisingly, Biden is the voice of reason to the media

Biden says Americans should not worry about nuclear war after Russian actions

President Joe Biden said on Monday Americans should not worry about a nuclear war after Moscow put its nuclear deterrent on high alert amid a barrage of Western reprisals over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In response to a question about whether U.S. citizens should be concerned about a nuclear war breaking out, Biden said “no.” He was responding to a shouted question at the end of an event at the White House.

The media, especially the analysts, need to chill

(BBC) UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told the BBC on Monday that the heightened alert was an attempt by the Kremlin to remind the world that it had a nuclear deterrent and to distract from what was going wrong on the ground in Ukraine.

“We will not do anything to escalate in that area… but at the moment this is a battle of rhetoric that President Putin is deploying,” he said.

This is what those who are truly in The Know are saying, it’s just rhetoric. Please stop trying to make this happen, media.

Biden Admin Finally Slaps Sanctions On All Russian Central Bank Assets

Finally catching up to Europe

US effectively freezes Russian central bank assets held by Americans

The U.S. said it is blocking financial transactions of Russian central bank assets, effectively freezing any of those assets held by Americans.

The freeze is effective immediately, a senior administration official said in a briefing for reporters on Monday. The official said that the U.S.’s actions are in conjunction and cooperation with the European Union, Japan, the UK, Canada, and others. This means that not only will Russia not be able to access funds in U.S. dollars, they will be unable to use dollars in the other countries turn to other banks and other currencies.

By making the move effective immediately, before markets open, the official said, Russia will be unable to move assets to avoid or mitigate the consequences.

“Our strategy,” the official said, “is to make sure that the Russian economy goes backward as long as President Putin decides to go forward with his campaign.”

Except for one thing

According to the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), this is not a complete and total block of the central bank, as OFAC is authorizing certain transactions with Russia’s central bank that are “energy-related,” and that additional authorizations could follow if necessary.

So, Russia will still be able to make lots of cash from exporting oil and natural gas.

Maybe blowing out for the whole weekend wasn’t the best idea, eh?

Bummer: ‘Climate Change’ Could Maybe Possibly Make Health Worse

This is all because the UN IPCC report is coming out. There are all sorts of fear-mongering articles out there, and here’s one

Global health has improved for decades. Climate change could change that.

As temperatures warm, the health risks of climate change are expected to intensify in the U.S. and worldwide.

The effects of climate change have already left millions of people hungry, caused deaths during heat waves and strained some people’s mental health as they are forced to leave their homes because of extreme weather, according to a major report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, that was released Monday.

So far, scientists say, world leaders are falling short not only at reducing fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions but also in making their communities more resilient to the health issues aggravated by climate change.

There have always been heat waves, weather has always caused hunger problems, and forced people to move. Interestingly, Humanity moved forward faster than ever during this Modern Warm Period, and the people whining about fossil fuels refuse to give up their own use.

In the decades before the Covid-19 pandemic, measures of human health worldwide largely improved. Now, climate change could put those trends in jeopardy.

“For many aspects of human well-being, we are actually in a period of decades of progress,” said Brian O’Neill, a chief scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory who studies climate change risks and helped author the IPCC report. In particular, O’Neill cited the trend of reductions in worldwide poverty, malnourishment and child mortality. “Climate impacts slow that progress or put it at risk.”

The findings are part of a broad study by the IPCC of the effects of climate change, its impacts and how societies could adapt and prepare for a warmer climate. The assessment, which was written by 270 scientists from 67 countries, represents broad consensus among researchers about how global warming is affecting people and the environment — and the potential consequences of inaction.

Reducing poverty, improving health care and focusing on sustainable development could matter as much for people’s health and well-being as reducing emissions, O’Neill said.

In other words, if Government doesn’t Do Something we are all doomed. And they can fix this with your money and freedom!

BTW, you’ll probably see the UN IPCC and other Warmists use the deaths and health issues from Wuhan Flu in a few years in their doomy reports to say we should Do Something.

NYC Set To End Vaccine Mandate March 7th

This is rather convenient, right? It’s completely about Science, though, right? Not politics?

New York City to lift vaccination mandate for businesses, events

New York City, the first major U.S. metropolis to require vaccines indoors, will lift its mandate for indoor businesses, dining and events in the coming days.

Mayor Eric Adams announced Sunday that his administration would end its vaccine mandate requirements on Monday, March 7, so long as Covid-19 cases continue to trend downward. He joins public officials who made similar decisions in cities such as Seattle and Boston in recent weeks.

The positivity rate is about where it was before Omicron hit, yet, there was no push to end the vax mandate which turned businesses into COVID Cops. Of course, at this point, how many businesses, business creators, and workers have left NYC? Especially with the skyrocketing crime?

Schools also will see the indoor mask mandate lifted on the same day, provided no unexpected spikes arise, Adams said.

But, but, but, if they keep us safe, why do this now, when they positivity rate is higher than it was last summer?

The news came as the U.S. House sergeant-at-arms said masks are “now an individual choice” for attendees of Tuesday’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber. Dr. Brian P. Monahan, attending physician of Congress, wrote in a coronavirus update Sunday that the District of Columbia’s relatively low level of transmission has triggered the change to optional mask-wearing for the Capitol.

Why now, when the rate is still higher than last summer and before Omicron hit? How many of the Democrats who were Demanding that Everyone Wear A Mask To Save Each other will ditch the mask?

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul allowed the statewide mask policy to expire following a temporary extension into February as cases dropped. The mandate had also been subject to a legal challenge.

She cited decreasing case numbers and New York’s status as the state with the most adults and teenagers fully vaccinated.

“We are now entering a new phase of the pandemic,” the governor said in a statement. “Because New Yorkers have stepped up, we can confidently remove the statewide mask requirement in our schools.”

It’s still higher than it was last summer and early fall, yet, the masks were required. So, what’s different now? I though all these Democratic Party voters loved masking up to protect everyone else? No?

Who’s Up For Brandon Making The SOTU All About Climate Crisis (scam)?

Law professor David A. Super at Georgetown thinks this is a fantastic idea. I agree, because this would show just how out of touch Biden and the Democrats are from reality, what with rising inflation, energy prices, gas prices, food prices, etc, along with a war in Ukraine, and COVID still around

Biden should put climate change front and center in State of the Union

President Biden’s State of the Union address next week will surely focus heavily on Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine. Much of this likely will involve immediate responses to the current crisis. The president also, however, has the opportunity to address the long-term problem of aggressive dictatorships propped up by oil revenues despite otherwise moribund economies. As long as they remain heavily dependent on fossil fuels, western democracies will keep dutifully funding the war machines of Russia and its ilk.

There were no wars before fossil fuels, you know

Biden has the opportunity to chart a bold future for the country, simultaneously unleashing the innovation to revitalize our economy, seizing the world lead in a crucial area of technology, defunding petroleum-fueled despots, and demonstrating an idealism that can win admiration around the globe.

He can achieve all of this by declaring that this country will be the world’s leader in combatting climate change.

Lots of cult blather, which fails to mention whether David has given up his own use of fossil fuels

Finally, dedicating our country — now — to becoming world leader in combatting climate change could reawaken idealism and national pride at a time when both are sorely needed. With polls indicating growing pessimism about whether future generations will enjoy the same opportunities that we did, an earnest, focused effort to slow climate change is something concrete we can do for our children and grandchildren. By moving aggressively now, we can avert some of the worst harms that otherwise would occur.

Go ahead, push this, because we all know that Doing Something about ‘climate change’ is popular in theory, but, not practice. People might consider it if the economy wasn’t tits up, thanks to China’s coronavirus, then Joe’s ineptitude. Please, Joe, give this speech, it’ll make the midterms even that much more of a blowout.

Russian, Ukranian Climate Delegates Apologize For War Or Something

This is what the climate cultists really care about, because it is a cult

Russian climate delegate apologizes on Ukraine, saying many ’fail to find any justification for the attack’

The head of the Russian delegation at a major United Nations climate meeting apologized Sunday for his country’s invasion of Ukraine, telling hundreds of government ministers and scientists that “those who know what is happening fail to find any justification for the attack.”

Russia’s Oleg Anisimov’s unexpected remarks came during a virtual meeting of delegates from 195 nations who had convened to finalize a major assessment of how climate change will affect the globe in the coming decades, according to two participants who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the closed-door negotiations.

“Let me present an apology on behalf of all Russians who were not able to prevent this conflict,” Anisimov said, according to a participant in the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s recent session.

The comments by Anisimov, a scientist at the state hydrological institute, mark a rare public rebuke of the Russian invasion by a government official. His apology came after an impassioned speech from his Ukrainian counterpart, Svitlana Krakovska, who linked the invasion of her country to the global challenge the ministers and scientists sought to confront: climate change.

First, Anisimov is surely going to find himself, at best, sent to Siberia. As for Krakovska, her country is under attack: the climate crisis scam should be the last thing she should be worried about, but, this is what the cultists do. Link a trace increase in the Earth’s temperature to every single thing that happens

“Human induced climate change and the war on Ukraine have the same roots, fossil fuels, and our dependence on them,” another delegate recalled Krakovska saying.

“Studies” Say Wuhan Flu Came From Wet Market, Not Lab Or Something

I’m sure they went into the labs and checked, right? It’s absolutely no surprise that a far left outlet like the U.K. Guardian would champion these “studies”

Coronavirus came from Wuhan market and not Chinese lab, twin studies say

International scientists on Saturday released two major studies which one participant said made it “extraordinarily clear” a market in Wuhan, China was the source of the coronavirus which fueled the Covid-19 pandemic – and not a Chinese government laboratory, a theory championed in the US by rightwing campaigners, columnists and politicians.

The question of where Covid-19 came from and how it spread has proved divisive. (snip)

In August last year, a US intelligence review of the issue proved inconclusive.

The New York Times first reported the new studies, which it said had not been published in any journal.

Michael Worobey, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona and a co-author on both studies, told the paper: “When you look at all of the evidence together, it’s an extraordinarily clear picture that the pandemic started at the Huanan market.”

The one-sentence summary of one study said: “Geographical clustering of the earliest known Covid-19 cases and the proximity of positive environmental samples to live-animal vendors suggest that the Huanan seafood wholesale market in Wuhan was the site of origin of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

In the abstract to the other study, scientists said: “Understanding the circumstances that lead to pandemics is critical to their prevention.”

So, none of the studies have actually gone through peer review and been published? Huh. Anyhow, neither of the studies actually spent any time investigating the actual lab, which has had previous releases, and was, in fact, playing around with coronaviruses. We know this. It is a fact. The studies are simply putting together some data and “analyzing” it. It doesn’t even appear that they spent time in China.

It’s cute how this is a right wing thing, saying it was a lab leak, when you’ll find that plenty of Democrats, and left leaning folks in countries around the world, have serious reservations that this happened because someone ate a bat or pangolin or something in a we market that just happened to be right down the road from the Wuhan Institute of Virology which just happens to have a poor record of security and was working on coronaviruses. A lab which the Chinese haven’t let anyone into since this all started.
