Happy Sunday! Another gorgeous day in America, but, all you in Sandy’s way need to take precautions. Remember, most people are killed not from the wind, but from the water. Forget the milk, make sure you have flashlights, batteries, canned goods (and a can opener), and a little cook stove. NOAA has a good website on preparedness, which includes what you need for a kit. Hint: it doesn’t include lots of beer. Oh, and this pinup is by Gil Elvgren, with a wee bit of help.

“Children Of The Future”: Another Unhinged Leftist Video Taking Advantage Of Kids

It’s all about blaming Mom and Dad. And Republicans. Conservatives. The last 4 years of the Romney presidency….huh? He hasn’t been president? That’s weird.

(Daily Caller) A new video from the founders of a celebrated advertising agency features children “of the future” singing about the aftermath of a Mitt Romney presidency: A world where sick people are required to “just die,” the atmosphere is “frying,” gays can be “fixed” and “oil fills the sea.”

The children, who stare blankly at the camera throughout the video, even take pains to explicitly mention that they blame “mom and dad” for all those horrors.

The video — produced by the founders of the advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, which came up with the famous tagline “Got milk?” and boasts clients like Cheetos, Netflix, the National Basketball Association and Nintendo — asks viewers, “What Would The Children Of The Future Say If We Let Them Down This November?”

What would they say?

Darleen Click says Honey Boo Boo’s mother is Parent of the Year in comparison. The Lonely Conservative points out that children are off-limits, unless you are a leftist tool. The Other McCain wants to make these children cry. The Daley Gator isn’t impressed by the Leftist tools using kids.

That’s strange, nothing in there about $5 trillion plus in new debt, trillion dollar deficits, record numbers of people on food stamps, Social Security disability, and welfare, nothing about record numbers of people dropping out of the jobs market and long term unemployment, “kill lists”, letting our enemies, and government employees, know that the government will not ride in to rescue our people, wasting a trillion dollars on a Stimulus that failed….you know the hit list. It’s led be a SCOAMF, elected in 2008 on a platform of Hope and Change.

And, yes, this pro-Obama. The tagline over at Youtube for the video is “Re-electing President Obama is a momentous decision that will require every single voter.” Make sure to add your down-twinkles.

I’m Still Waiting For All That Sweet Sweet Climate Denial Cash

Warmists just can’t help themselves. They are continually searching for some rationale to show that their cult is dying due to something other than people realizing it’s a bunch of mule fritters. Here’s Climate Science Watch (via Tom Nelson)

PBS FRONTLINE’s “Climate of Doubt,” an investigation of the global warming disinformation campaign and its sources of support, aired on October 23 and featured a number of prominent faces that will be familiar to readers of Climate Science Watch. And there are some newer players, hiding the anonymous funders who stand behind the denialist political operatives and court jesters. Sen. John Kerry said on the program, “American politics is being completely defined by huge sums of money. … And it has now made many people in public life very gunshy because they are afraid of having those amounts of money spent against them.”

I suppose I’d be considered one of those “court jesters”, but, so far, no one has been lining my pockets with that awesome anti-hotcoldwetdry cash.

In other words, in the war of misinformation, climate science — with its factual information and scientific review process ­­­– has stumbled into the crosshairs of these right-wing organizations. Using their trusty Winchester Model 70 bolt-action hunting rifle, these organizations started firing away at the science of climate change. If the public thinks the basic science is settled, then the logical next step is political and policy movement on the issue — something these organizations are struggling against.

If it was so factual, then there would be no problem blasting away, because we Climate Realists would never hit it. Supposedly, we are also well organized

What surprised me about the analysis was really the comprehensive nature of the climate countermovement. This is an extremely well-organized political movement that has a number of different components that are loosely coordinated but all act along the same lines. You have organizations that focus on development of ideas, such as think tanks, media outlets, advertising for public opinion, scholarly activities at universities.

If only we were. Then we’d be able to kill off this absurd notion of anthropogenic global warming, er, climate change, which is simply a mask for pushing Progressive (fascist) policies of Big Centralized Government.

All this sounds more like projection on the part of Warmists.

Hooray! Warmists Find One Obama Green Project That Has Not Failed!

I caught the tweet on this from David Roberts of Grist yesterday, but didn’t feel like doing a long post on my Android. He’s really psyched!

Despite GOP jeers, BrightSource succeeds in solar

Over the last year or so, Republicans have woven a tale of collapse and futility around clean energy. Each setback for the industry, each bankruptcy or refinancing, is met with open glee, plastered all over Fox News for weeks on end. In the first presidential debate, Mitt Romney said to Obama, “you don’t just the pick the winners and losers — you pick the losers.”

I can’t recall ever seeing a major political party rooting for the failure of a growing American industry like this. Is there any precedent? I guess asymmetrical polarization has brought us to uncharted territory.

There’s a difference between “rooting” and “highlighting”, Dave. Also, we expect it to fail, because all Obama did was pump money to campaign contributors without wondering whether this business will have a reasonable chance of succeeding. And he used taxpayer money. I wonder if he put any of his own money into these businesses?

It seems that DOE’s bet on Ivanpah did exactly what it was supposed to do: help BrightSource demonstrate the viability and market value of its product. Now the company has had two bits of good news.

First, yesterday it secured more than $80 million in new private equity financing, bringing its total to $615 million. In a press release, the company says the additional money comes via “Alstom and VantagePoint Capital Partners. Additional investors include DFJ, DBL Investors, Goldman Sachs, Chevron Technology Ventures, CalSTRS and BP Ventures among others.” (Thanks, Chevron!)

And second, later in the day the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) unanimously approved two of BrightSource’s new contracts with Southern California Edison. That brings its total CPUC-approved contracts to 10, three with Southern California Edison and seven with PG&E.

So, the good news is that they…..got more money to attempt to make the company viable and some government approvals? Perhaps in Liberal World that is good news, but, good news would be that the company is actually providing viable, consistent power at an affordable price while making a profit. Oh, and let’s take a flashback

BrightSource Energy’s Ivanpah solar power project will soon be a humming city with 24-hour lighting, a wastewater processing facility and a gas-fired power plant. To make room, BrightSource has mowed down a swath of desert plants, displaced dozens of animal species and relocated scores of imperiled desert tortoises, a move that some experts say could kill up to a third of them.

I asked the questions then “why do they need a gas-fired power plant? Are they admitting that solar as it stands today can’t even provide power for the solar plant? Oh, and don’t you love how green energy actually seems to destroy the environment?” Ivanpah can’t even seem to provide power for itself, much less consumers.

Enviros also sued to stop Ivanpah, because it would destroy the desert. Back to Dave

Solar thermal with storage is still expensive. On a per-MWh basis, even solar PV beats it. But it has the great advantage of being zero-carbon power that is not intermittent, unlike wind and solar PV.

Hmm. So, it is crazy expensive, which means consumers would see their electricity bills skyrocket, but it is puts out zero carbon! Hooray!!!!!1!!!!!!

Just Stop: Video Purports To Show Obama Being Born In Kenyan Hospital

Enough. Seriously. Stop. Move on. This is just stupid. “Just wondering” about Obama’s birth certificate can be amusing, and, in honesty, good traffic bait (much like posting something negative about Ron Paul), but, just stop

(The Blaze)  So, an “anonymous source” has sent Vice magazine a one-minute video that purports to be home footage of President Barack Obama’s birth in a Kenyan hospital.

Titled, “Obama Sr filmimg his sons birth in Kenya” [sic], the camera conspicuously focuses on “Ann Dunham’s” hospital chart and a Kenyan flag sticker before panning to a woman seemingly in labor. A suspiciously large (for a newborn) baby is then pulled from a tangle of sheets and the umbilical cord is cut. The woman cuddles the baby while the nurse and doctor applaud and the Aug. 4, 1961 date flashes.

To be clear, I’m not aiming the “just stop” at The Blaze and writer Madeleine Morgenstern, as she seems to be taking the same “good grief” attitude, and posting this for traffic. It’s aimed at “Peter R” who uploaded the video. From the interview with Vice (like the Blaze, I will warn you about clicking the link to Vice, filled with sexual content, not work friendly)

VICE: Where did you acquire this video that you purport to be footage of President Barack Obama’s birth?

Peter R: An associate from Africa contacted me and said that he had a VHS transfer of the original Super-8 film. I know him from my business trips and he decided to just give me this thing. He said it’s something he got from Obama’s father, a family friend, in the 60s and he’s kept it under wraps ever since Obama entered politics. Up until then, only my friend, his sister, and Obama’s immediately family had seen it—and now myself and the world.

One of the commenters at Vice points out that “super 8 film wasn’t introduced until 1965, before that it was 8mm. the Kenyan flag shown in the video wasn’t introduced until 1963… so next time make up a better story and get a better production designer… or at least do better research, this took all of 5 minutes for me to find”

What do you say to people who will undoubtedly claim that this is a fake, and that you or someone else manufactured it?
I tell them try to prove that it’s not real. I mean, like Trump told the president, the ball is in your court. The ball is in your court, now, Mr. President. We have the proof; what do you have?

No, Peter R, it is up to you to provide proof that it is authentic. I’m not one to provide cover for Obama, however, you have to provide the proper proof. And I’ll call 100% complete mule fritters on the baby coming out pretty much cleaned up, not covered with all sorts of fluids.

Furthermore, why would Obama Sr. take shots of the Keynan flag, the date, and a clipboard with Obama’s mother’s name and picture? Just f’ing stop.

Obama States That The Election “Has Nothing To Do With Libya”

Obama took time for an interview with KUSA-TV Friday, and reporter Kyle Clark decided to perform a random act of journalism (while Brian Williams was following Obama around and slobbering) (video at the link)

President Obama discussed the situation in Libya during a satellite interview Friday afternoon with 9NEWS reporter Kyle Clark, who also asked if it’s fair for Americans to be told to wait until after the election to learn what truly happened in Libya.

“The election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us wanting to find out exactly what happened,” President Obama said. “Nobody wants to find out more what happened than I do.”

President Obama was directly asked twice whether pleas for help on the ground in Libya were denied during the attack. Both times, he repeated his standard call for a thorough investigation.

Au contraire, it has everything to do with Americans left hanging out to dry, because this is all part of the the pattern of incompetence of the Obama administration, and the incompetence starts at the top. We have the worst economic recovery post-recession ever, with the US economy just malaising around since July 2009, the end of the recession. Two Americans and over 200 Mexicans killed thanks to the guns the Obama administration walked and didn’t bother tracking. Blowing off our allies around the world. Our enemies laughing at the USA. And now this fiasco in Libya.

The Politico covers this, and Doug Ross makes a good comment: “Is it just me, or does the president look like he’s choomed?” He also writes

I think we can surmise why the president wouldn’t answer the question. Several reliable sources told me (since confirmed here) that the President would have been alerted within minutes of the attack commencing in Benghazi. Therefore, his refusal to answer the question speaks volumes.

If Obama thought there was no problem, that Libya was something that just happened, he would be out there talking about all that his people did to rescue the Americans who were killed. And here’s Greg Gutfield

“But, it raises questions why can you politicize bin Laden and not Benghazi?” Gutfeld continued. “Obama takes credit for one and avoids responsibility for the other. And what happens if this films (the National Geographic film about killing Osama) triggers mob violence? Will Weinstein be arrested? He’s been silent on the subject of free expression while the anti-Muslim filmmaker sweats in jail. Perhaps Harvey could keep him company. Heck, they could watch the movie together.”

It’s interesting how Obama wants to wait for a “full investigation”. Will this be the same type in which the Executive Office stonewalls Congress, ala Fast and Furious? And, he sure didn’t bother waiting to blame some video that no one had seen.

Obama also blamed the DOE for the bad “green” energy loans during the interview.

It’ll be interesting to see whether any of the military folks who were told to stand down and not provide help decide to blow the whistle, and whether the decision leads to “National Command Authority”, because there were only a few people who could have stopped any rescue operations.

(Planet 3.0) Climate related? Well, Sandy is one of the new breed of very geographically large tropical storms. And the jet stream is in one of its wamdering moods, also associated with climate change, where what little cold air there is finds its way more than ordinarily far south. As usual with an individual event, theer’s no direct causality. But if something like this pans out it certainly will be perceived as an example weather weirding. And it’s another sort of event that the ever-more-wobbly system manages to serve up to us for our consideration.

Meteorologist Ryan Maue smacks Tobis around.

Big Think wonders if this is Mother Nature’s response for failure to discuss “climate change” during the debates. Climate Progress is lining Sandy to hotcoldwetdry. I’m sure more will come out of the woodwork.

Hey, remember the great Long Island Hurricane of 1938? The atmospheric CO2 was well below 350ppm at that point.

Help Denied During Benghazi Attack Multiple Times

Heads need to roll. Fox News has an exclusive report

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. Consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by officials in the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.

Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were part of a small team who were at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. Consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When they heard the shots fired, they radioed to inform their higher-ups to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to “stand down,” according to sources familiar with the exchange. An hour later, they called again to headquarters and were again told to “stand down.”

They asked for help a second time. They were denied. There was an officer on the roof of the consulate calling for help as he lased the jihadis. He was denied. A special operations team, which could have been in Benghazi within two hours was told to stand down.

And the local militia tasked with providing security, the September 17th Martyrs Brigade? They finally showed up at 3am, too late to do anything.

The question remains, where was the authority coming from to tell them all to stand down, and why?
