Petition Petitions White House To Shut Down White House Petition Website

As Instapundit would say “Heh!”

Shut down White House petitions, since they never get a sincere response, few read them, & they are ultimately worthless

Since the White House never actually responds to any petitions in sincerity (like letting the one man whose job it is to oppose marijuana to respond to the marijuana legalization initiative, or having the head of the TSA respond to why we can’t de-fund the TSA) we should immediately de-fund and dismantle the White House petition website.

In recent days it has become a mockery with petitions for secession from almost every state, and cities wishing to de-secede in such events.

We ask Barack Obama to admit that this is a mockery of democratic process and immediately dissolve this joke of a website.

The creator, Brian W, has a good point. The majority of petitions that ultimately get to 25k signatures in 30 days feature responses that are simply boilerplate campaign responses, and little else. Action are never taken. There are two points to the petition website: first is to tell people how super duper awesome Obama is. The second is to capture emails from liberals AND conservatives and send them thinly veiled campaign messages.

Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup

Happy Sunday! Another fantastic day in The People’s Socialist Republic Of America, er, the United States. The birds are singing, the EPA has designated your home a wildlife refuge. All the normal stuff. Might be a bit too early to be cynical, eh? Anyhow, this pinup is by Bill Layne, with a wee bit of help.

What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15

  1. The Other McCain points out that Obama knew it was terrorism quickly
  2. Weasel Zippers covers Harry Reid blowing off any investigation into Benghazi

As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets” calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

The posts do take a long time, so, if you want to send me your links for Rule 5 babeage or links, use ye olde email in the header bar (remove the NOSPAM part). Preferably, create the html link so I can copy and paste how you want it to read.

White House Acknowledges Israel Has A Right To Defend Itself

This is surely going to make Obama’s Israel loathing base unhappy

(ABC) The White House on Saturday defended Israel’s right to defend itself against attack and decide how to respond to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, blaming the ruling Islamic militant Hamas group for starting the conflict.

Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are in agreement that a de-escalation of the violence is preferred, provided that Hamas stops sending rocket into Israel, deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes told reporters during the president’s flight on Air Force One to Asia.

Israel launched the offensive on Wednesday by assassinating Hamas’ military commander, but Rhodes said the U.S. believes “the precipitating factor for the conflict was the rocket fire coming out of Gaza. We believe Israel has a right to defend itself, and they’ll make their own decisions about the tactics they use in that regard.”

He added, “These rockets have been fired into Israeli civilian areas and territory for some time now. So Israelis have endured far too much of a threat from these rockets for far too long, and that is what led the Israelis to take the action that they did in Gaza.”

Sheesh, Rhodes sounds like one of those “neocons” from the Bush administration. And libs are doing their normal moonbat dance. Over at Firedoglake, there is quite a bit of ugly language, which, for one, fails to acknowledge that Hamas puts its war materials and fighters in the middle of civilian areas. And provide comments such as

  • The new nazis. Israel is a terrorist state. Israelis have been stealing Arab land and Arab water for more than sixty years now. End US military aid for this terrorist state now.
  • You know, as a self-styled student of WWII, this is looking more and more like what the Nazis did to the Jews after they segregated them into the Warsaw Ghetto. The Jews finally tried to rebel and the Nazis crushed them. Fast-forward 70 years and now the Gaza Strip is the Warsaw Ghetto, the Israelis are the Nazis, and the Palestinians are the Jews.

You have Kim Kardashian tweeting her support, received typical disgusting hate her way, wishing her death.

Unsurprisingly, most media outlets have closed comments for their Israel/Hamas stories, so as to avoid the typical unhinged and hateful Lefty comments which pop up every time Israel is mentioned.

Anyhow, someone over at the NY Times decided to get a little creative using their thesaurus: Israel Steps Up Aerial Strikes in Gaza. I think simply calling them “air” strikes would have sufficed.

On the White House petitions site, some “progressive” named Naji I has created a petition to stop the war on Gaza

Israel has this week intensified it war on Gaza, with aerial and naval bombardment. Innocent civilians continue to be killed by Israel using American-made weapons and US citizens’ tax money. The statement is baseless that Israel has the right to defend itself. Because Israel has a track record, ever since its ceation in 1948, of being the party who started all wars, including its illegal invasion and occupation, for over two decades, of neighbouring Lebanon. This current war on Gaza adds one more episode of resorting to shedding blood of besieged Gazan people purely for electioneering ends, meant ti boost the chances of victory for the governing coalition ruling Israel at the present time. (WT note: misspellings are all Naji’s. I just copied and pasted)

Shocking that a leftie puts all the blame on Israel and fails to mention Hamas constantly launching rockets into civilian areas of Israel, eh?

IAEA: Iran Ready To Double Enrichment

Nothing to see here, no big deal, move along

(BBC) Iran is ready to double the output at its underground uranium enrichment facility, the UN nuclear watchdog says.

A leaked report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there were 2,784 centrifuges at Fordo, and that Iran could soon double the number operating from 700 to 1,400.

Yawn. On to the very last paragraph

The IAEA’s report concluded that the agency was “unable… to conclude that all nuclear material in Iran is in peaceful activities”.

Gee, ya think?

Bible Publisher Wins In Lawsuit Against ObamaCare

Might this be the start of the dominoes?

(OneNewsNow) A federal judge has blocked enforcement of the Health and Human Services mandate to provide free insurance coverage of abortion-causing pills in ObamaCare.

Bible publisher Tyndale House, which is owned by a foundation and donates most of its profits to faith causes worldwide, filed the lawsuit. The Obama administration had argued Tyndale House Publishers was not religious enough for an exemption from the mandate.

“The court has done the right thing in halting this mandate while our lawsuit moves forward,” he states. The court’s order is the third nationwide against the mandate and the second obtained by ADF attorneys.

“For the government to claim that a Bible publisher cannot exercise religion is startling,” Bowman continues. “It shows how clearly the Obama administration is willing to disregard Constitutional protections for religious freedom in order to advance the political interests of the abortion movement.”

Liberals are going to have a tough time boycotting Tyndale House, since government is the God of liberals, and their Bible is the Communist Manifesto. Or, perhaps Mao’s Little Red Book.

Just look at how those ladies are having to wear super abbreviated burqas because of hotcoldwetdry in the socialist paradise of France. Looks like they are trying to spread awareness.

New Paper Proves That Drought Is Not Getting Worse

From Jo Nova

How many images have we seen of drought-stricken cracked land, or been told this is the future? How many headlines have suggested that global warming causes droughts?

Since the end of World War II humans have produced some 85% of all their CO2 emissions, but here is a new study showing that for all those emissions, and for all that warming, droughts back then were just as bad globally as they are today.

Essentially, researchers thought that the Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) was the way to measure global drought levels, and they thought that warming would increase global drought conditions. But the PDSI considers only temperature, not humidity, sunlight and wind. This paper shows that when these factors are included, worldwide drought is about the same now as it was in 1950.

Researchers are finally accounting for the fact that a warmer world usually means more evaporation (especially from the ocean) and thus more rain. It’s good to see that someone has crunched those complex numbers on a global scale. Credit to Sheffield, Wood & Roderick.

It’s good to see this being reported on The Conversation, ScienceNews, and NewScientist. Naturally, this dangerous information could be misinterpreted (unlike most previous drought studies eh?) so caveats are rampant on The Conversation. The caveats take the usual meaningless and vague catch-all approach:” this paper should not be misconstrued as evidence that climate change is not happening” type of warning. Where were these caveat-writers when all the photos of cracked plains were showing on the evening news?

Make sure to head over and read all the excerpts and quotes Jo provides over this stunning scientific report, which, as Collide-a-scape is pointing out, is being completely ignored by the same media and “environmental” reporters who would otherwise provide breathless scary stories about drought killing us all. What it shows is that there has been no escalation of drought over the past 60 years.

Oh, and C3 Headlines points out that the oceans have cooled the last 10 years, per NOAA data. And the global temperature has gone down over the past 10 years, per HadCRUT data.

Petraeus Testimony: Someone Changed CIA Talking Points Memo

Surprise!

(Fox News) Former CIA Director David Petraeus stoked the controversy over the Obama administration’s handling of the Libya terror attack, testifying Friday that references to “Al Qaeda involvement” were stripped from his agency’s original talking points — while other intelligence officials were unable to say who changed the memo, according to a top lawmaker who was briefed.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News that intelligence officials who testified in a closed-door hearing a day earlier, including Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Acting CIA Director Mike Morell, said they did not know who changed the talking points. He said they went out to multiple departments, including the State Department, National Security Council, Justice Department and White House.

“To me the question right now is who changed those talking points and why. … I’d say it was somebody in the administration had to have taken it out,” King told Fox News. “That, to me, has to be pursued.”

The NY Times attempts to find a position to protect the Obama administration

David H. Petraeus, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, told lawmakers on Friday that classified intelligence reports revealed that the deadly assault on the American diplomatic mission in Libya was a terrorist attack, but that the administration refrained from saying it suspected that the perpetrators of the attack were Al Qaeda affiliates and sympathizers to avoid tipping off the groups.

Mr. Petraeus, who resigned last week after admitting to an extramarital affair, said the names of groups suspected in the attack — including Al Qaeda’s franchise in North Africa and a local Libyan group, Ansar al-Shariah — were removed from the public explanation of the attack immediately after the assault to avoiding alerting the militants that American intelligence and law enforcement agencies were tracking them, lawmakers said.

The Times finally gets around to mentioning that it wasn’t the CIA who removed references to Islamic terrorists in the circulated talking points memo.

But, let’s go back to Peter King’s comment. With all due respect, know who changed the talking points, and why, is the third most important issue regarding the Benghazi affair. Second most important is what happened in the run-up to the attack. Most important would be what happened during the attack which resulted in the deaths of 4 Americans.

  • Prior to the 9/11 attack, the media was reporting that Benghazi was becoming increasingly more dangerous to Westerners, with the threats coming from Islamic terror groups. The British were pulling their people out of the area after multiple attacks, including an assassination attempt of their ambassador. There were multiple attacks against the US Consulate dating back to April. Multiple Islamic terrorist groups were agitating and threatening attacks. Ambassador Stevens and others were screaming for more security, and were told to stop asking. Who told them to stop asking? Who refused to increase security? Why were all the warning signs ignored?
  • And then we come to the actual attack: what was Stevens doing in the area? More importantly, why was no help sent? Did anyone ask the Libyan government for permission to enter the country to rescue our people? Who told the ex-Navy SEALs to stand down multiple times? Why were no military assets sent to rescue them? We could have had military jets over Benghazi within an hour or two. We could have certainly had assets fly in from our naval vessels who patrol the Mediterranean, some of which were off the coast of Libya. These ships carry special operator units, and could have been there on helicopter or Osprey. What about attack helicopters from the Marine assault ship in the Med.? Over the 7 hours of fighting, why was there no attempt to rescue them? That is the primary question.

Perhaps the information was discussed during the closed door hearing. Perhaps they will eventually tell us. What they are focusing on now is important, as it shows the Obama administration lying to the American people, and many would like to know “why.” I want to know why our people were left to die.
