Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration wrapped up a landmark trip to Climate Week NYC, filling the climate leadership void left by the Trump administration. California’s delegation met with international leaders, announced new initiatives to advance clean energy and major progress towards expanding the state’s carbon market, and deepened cooperation with long-standing global partners.
California is the antidote to Donald Trump — representing risk takers, innovators, leaders who believe in protecting our future and building a better world for our children. California is demonstrating to the world what it looks like to keep our promises and deliver on our goals. At all levels of government, we are pursuing ambitious climate policies while maintaining our status as one of the largest economies in the world. Climate Week NYC convenes government leaders, businesses, investors, advocates, researchers, philanthropies, and community leaders from around the world to advance practical climate solutions.
Governor Newsom participated to highlight California’s record of cutting pollution while growing the economy, strengthen partnerships with international and subnational leaders, and accelerate progress on clean energy, zero-emission transportation, climate resilience, and economic opportunity. In addition, leaders from throughout state government represented California at a number of events and programs, including the announcement of new programs and partnerships.
