Guns Banned In Phillipines Ahead Of May Elections, Criminals Didn’t Receive The Memo

Still less violence than in the Liberal Mecca of Chicago

(GMA News) A man running for councilor in the upcoming elections in May was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen Sunday evening in San Fernando City in La Union.

Danilo Nisperos Sr., 59, died while receiving medical treatment at Bethany Hospital in San Fernando City, said Ilocos regional police spokesperson Superintendent Jovencio Badua on Monday.

The police recovered five spent shells and five slugs of a still unknown type of firearm from the scene of the crime.

Nisperos was killed despite the implementation of the nationwide gun ban in connection with the May elections.

The day before another political candidate was killed.

As of February 22, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested 1,138 gun ban violators: 1,034 civilians, six soldiers, 13 policemen, a member of the Bureau of Fire Protection, 14 government officials, 62 security guards, and two Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit members.

Still, some armed groups managed to slip through the gun ban. On January 26, armed men fired shots during a robbery at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, causing panic among mall goers.

And there were other shootings by criminals, who don’t seem particularly interested in following the ban. Weird, eh?

Under the gun ban, which is being enforced since January 13, all permits to carry firearms are suspended. Only uniformed law enforcers are exempted.

Remember, this is just a temporary suspension of the ability to carry. Here in America Democrats want to not only eliminate the ability to carry (they do this by continuously expending where people can’t carry) but to dink and dunk their way towards eliminating most privately owned guns, leaving only The Government with guns.

Meanwhile, a liberal astroturf group, Progressive USA Voters, is offering to pay people $9-$11 an hour to agitate for more gun control.

White House Release Super Duper Dire We’re Doomed List Of State By State Sequestration Results

(The Blaze) On Sunday, the White House continued its effort to prevent the $85 billion in automatic spending cuts known as “sequestration” from starting this Friday, releasing a dramatic state-by-state list of how they claim each state will be impacted if Congress fails to act.

It’s worth remembering that the “cut” is only to the projected increase in spending, not to what we are currently spending.

That last part surely can’t be correct: Obama’s not saying that. Most of the Legacy Media isn’t saying that. Democrats aren’t saying that. Of course, in Washington a tiny reduction in the rate of future spending is considered a draconian cut that will mean the elimination of school meals for every kid and riots in the streets (but not the kids, because they’ll be hungry to riot).

White House political director Dan Pfeiffer said on a call Sunday, according to the Hill, that the sequester is only going to happen if Republicans refuse to compromise.

He added: “Republicans are making a policy choice that these cuts are better for the economy than eliminating tax loopholes that benefit the wealthy.”

If someone is constantly insulting you, do you work with them? But, this is part of the Obama management and leadership style. We’ve seen it time and time again. However, Americans voted for fear-mongering, blamestorming, and train-loads of mule fritters over competent leadership and a way out of this economic malaise.

House Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman Michael Steel said in a statement: “Republicans in the House have voted – twice – to replace President Obama’s sequester with smarter spending cuts. The White House needs to spend less time explaining to the press how bad the sequester will be and more time actually working to stop it.”

It’s a nice statement, but perhaps it’s time for Republicans like Boehner to stop being pleasant and go for the jugular.

The article has a list (that comes from the Wall Street Journal) of all the world ending tiny reductions in spending growth that are completely over the top. Shock face.

Figure I’ll just do this once a week from now on on Sundays.

Finished the latest by Mark Tufo, Callis Rose, more along the lines of horror, which he does well. Much like Stephen King, Tufo builds up. Everything seems “fine” (that’s relative, since Callis is orphaned early and has a few tough times) until Baaaammmm! the problems smack you right in the face like a bucket of guano dumped from a tall building. Think about how things were going in Pet Cemetery.

Also read Afraid by JA Konrath and Jack Kilborn. Horror. Messy. Good book. Especially since I got it free of Amazon. Not sure if I would pay for it. Dose I mention it’s bloody?

Started One Nation Under Blood: The Sowing. Seemed OK, but, didn’t really grab me. Moving on to Collapse by Richard Stephenson.

Democrat Blames Republicans For Chicago Gun Violence

(Daily Caller) President Barack Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1927, but in the eyes of CNN regular and Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman, the rampant violence currently plaguing the city is the fault of the Republican Party.

“[L]et’s be very clear about what’s happening in Washington today, and why it’s undermining the city of Chicago — because there’s a mindset now in our government, in Washington, from the Republican members of Congress, that sequestration is an acceptable way of doing business, that we can in fact engage in these massive irresponsible cuts that no one thinks is a logical approach to budgeting,” Zimmerman said. “And that undermines law enforcement in our cities; it undermines so many education opportunities for our younger people and it does in fact create an impoverished class of our society that leads to abuse, leads to violence and leads to more Chicagos.”

Almost No One Is Happy With Proposed N.C. Illegal Alien Driver’s License

You can put me in the category of “if we are forced to give DLs to illegals, this is not a bad idea”

(Fox News) A new driver’s license expected to be issued to some illegal immigrants in North Carolina has prompted state lawmakers and immigrant rights groups to voice concerns over the proposal.

The proposed North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles license has a bright pink stripe and the bold words “NO LAWFUL STATUS.”

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles announced last week they would begin issuing the licenses March 25 following a lengthy legal review. The Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program grants valid federal work permits to qualified applicants brought to the U.S. as children without legal authorization.

Unfortunately, under multiple laws, legal rulings, and Obama’s executive order, NC has to issue DLs to some illegals. Republicans do not want any DLs issued, and are trying to block this till at least June. Illegals do not like it, either

Cinthia Marroquin, a 22-year-old Raleigh resident awaiting approval for a DACA permit, said the longer the license issue is delayed, the longer it will take for her to get a job and drive herself to work. Even if she is able to get one, she is worried about presenting a license declaring she has “NO LAWFUL STATUS” at a police roadblock or while writing a check at the grocery store.

“A lot of us are just scared,” said Marroguin, who came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 15. “We just want to be able to get a job and drive to work. Having that license is just going to show everybody you’re here illegally, just buying a beer or writing a check. You don’t know how people might react.”

You are here illegally. If you’re not proud of that, perhaps you should leave and stop wasting the money the State of NC and the US government already do not have. And stop taking jobs from US citizens.

The American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina also takes issue with the designation.

“North Carolina should not be making it harder for aspiring citizens to integrate and contribute to our communities by branding them with a second-class driver’s license,” said ACLU attorney Raul Pinto. “There is simply no reason for officials to stigmatize people who are in the U.S. legally with an unnecessary marker that could lead to harassment, confusion, and racial profiling.”

Got that? The ACLU is deeming that people here illegally are not here illegally. Remember when the ACLU stood for law, order, and the Constitution? Well, me neither, but they say they do.

Many Republicans are pushing legislation that will make it against NC law to issue DLs to illegal aliens, stating that Obama’s DACA violates the Constitution since no law was passed by Congress, but by executive fiat.
