Who Knew iHeart Radio Used So Much Data?

And why didn’t they tell me? You might wonder about my lack of response to comments the past few days. There are certainly days were I cannot comment much during the day, due to real life and work. Of the past 4 days it’s been due to having almost nothing left in my 2.5GB data plan. Use of iHeart radio for about 3-4 hours used almost 700mb of data, so, right now I’m sitting at 2.41gb, which has to last through Friday, the last day of my billing cycle.

And the WiFi at work stinks, like so many open source ones do. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, and doesn’t reach deep into the building where I tend to be.

I use the Radio.com app a lot, especially to listen to Devil’s games, and have never come close like this. Oh, well, one lives and learns.

Bummer: Globull Warming Theory Has Failed

Joseph D’Aleo, CCM, Weatherbell Analytics, has put together a long list of just how badly “climate change” theory has failed over at Icecap

AGW theory has failed all tests, so alarmists return to the ‘consensus’ hoax

  1. Warming not ‘global’. It is shown in satellite data to be northern hemisphere only
  2. It is now not warming. Warming (global mean and northern hemisphere) stopped in the 1990s
  3. Models suggest atmosphere should warm 20% faster than surface but surface warming was 33% faster during the time satellites and surface observations used. This suggests GHG theory wrong, and surface temperature contaminated
  4. Temperatures longer term have been modified to enhance warming trend and minimize cyclical appearance. Station dropout, missing data, change of local siting, urbanization, instrumentation contaminate the record, producing exaggerating warming. The GAO scolded NOAA for poor compliance with siting standards.
  5. Those who create the temperature records have been shown in analysis and emails to take steps to eliminate inconvenient temperature trends like the Medieval Warm Period, the 1940s warm blip and cooling since 1998. Steps have included removal of the urban heat island adjustment and as Wigley suggested in a climategate email, introduce 0.15C of artificial cooling of global ocean temperatures near 1940.
  6. Forecast models have failed with temperature trends below even the assumed zero emission control scenarios
  7. Climate models all have a strong hot spot in the mid to high troposphere in the tropical regions. Weather balloons and satellite show no warming in this region the last 30 years.

D’Aleo goes on for a total of 25 points. Noticeably absent is the notion that most Warmists, especially the leaders, fail to practice what they preach at best, and are massive climahypocrites at worst, but, then, D’Aleo was focusing on the failure of the science, not the part where this whole movement is about far left Progressive politics.

Given the failures of global warming science, just a few mentioned here, the most disreputable alarmists like Oreskes, Cook and Trenberth and the demagogue party have tried to convince the uniformed by using the consensus argument. See the latest failed attempt here.  It was also described on Forbes here.

“Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had. Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics.” Michael Crichton 17 January 2003 speech at the California Institute of Technology

Warmists are still pushing consensus hard, especially the new and ridiculous “97% consensus” study, which is actually only about 33% consensus, and includes those studies that claim mankind is responsible for less than 50% of the warming.

Oh, BTW, I’m eagerly awaiting the Warmists claims that Tropical Storm Andrea is caused by “climate change”, all because you drove an SUV and took a shower longer than 2 minutes this morning.

Obama Forces Verizon To Hand Over Phone Records

Of course, that’s not the way most media outlets are terming it: we get headlines like U.S. Is Secretly Collecting Records of Verizon Calls, Report: NSA sought Verizon U.S. call records, and the original article, emanating from Glenn Greenwald (one of the only liberals willing to be critical of Obama) at the UK Guardian, NSA collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers daily. When it was a program that was tagging international calls originating from the US or ending in the US by non-citizens without a warrant, and getting a warrant if a US citizen was involved, well, that was Bush’s fault directly

The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an “ongoing, daily basis” to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries. (WT note: that link goes to a PDF of the actual warrant)

The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.

The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.

This seems to apply to only the wired lines, “home phones”, rather than mobile phones, otherwise the warrant would have to mention “Verizon Wireless”, which is considered a separate company in terms of their business structure, unlike, say AT&T, although Mr. Greenwald specifically mentions mobile communications. It is possible that the warrant was served on both the wired and mobile communications branches.

Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.

It applies to both international calls involving the US and purely domestic calls.

The court order expressly bars Verizon from disclosing to the public either the existence of the FBI’s request for its customers’ records, or the court order itself.

“We decline comment,” said Ed McFadden, a Washington-based Verizon spokesman.

So, liberals, now your guy, your “Lightbringer”, your “he’s not Bush”, has gone way, way, way further than Bush ever did, essentially wanting all the records in detail, only leaving out what was discussed, in a broad manner, a complete fishing expedition. Kinda puts into light all the other scandals and the ever-expanding use of power and tyranny of the Obama administration.

Nice Deb: Would you believe this blockbuster story was broken in a British newspaper, The Guardian? Of course you would because the US media is too lame to break stories like this.

Legal Insurrection: Battered Obama Supporter Syndrome — The Phone Records Grabber Episode

Michelle Malkin lays out why this is different from the Bush program. Also, on Fox she just said “if Obama is declaring the War On Terrorism over, what’s the point of this program?”

Also, this was just a leak about Verizon. I think we can surmise that the other companies were certainly given the same warrant.

How Well Do Energy Sources Stack Up?

This picture comes from page 193 of  The Mad, Mad, Mad World Of Climatism by Steve Goreham (I plan on writing a review as soon as I am done. Getting close. Taking my time. Make sure to get your own copy)

Notice the overall power comparisons, especially average delivered power, along with the footprints. While I certainly support alternatives, as I’ve said time and time again, they aren’t ready for primetime. The London Array needs 95 square miles to produce 370 megawatts, while the West County natural gas plant needs .3 square miles to produce 3,263.

Also, from page 191, we learn that on a clear day about 1,000 watts of sun power reaches each square meter of the earth. This is reduced to about 800 watts in the US and Southern Europe at midday. Electrical efficiencies of solar systems is 10-20%. “After accounting for power transmission losses, this means only a single 100 watt bulb can be powered for every card-table-sized surface area of a solar system, and only at noon on a clear day.”

The Intolerance Of Climate Change Zealots

And interesting piece by Ian Dale, with that

This evening on my LBC show we discussed Ed Davey’s outrageous idea that newspapers and broadcasters should refrain from giving a platform to climate change sceptics. How very ‘liberal’ of him. I remember at 18 Doughty Street back in 2007 I phoned Greenpeace to invite them to take part in a panel discussion on climate change. They refused on the basis hat the argument was won and there was nothing to debate. It’s attitudes like this that make me very suspicious of this climate change industry, which is supported by people whose fanaticism borders on the religious.

He’s referring to the attacks by a UK political appointee on those who dare question science, because, you know, science should never ever be questioned.

The very same people who warned the world in the 1980s about the coming nuclear apocalypse are now warning about the end of the planet. In the 1980s we had politicians who were able to expose these zealots for what they were. We now have cabinet ministers who go along with them and give them money. And have the cheek to tell people on radio stations that they shouldn’t be providing platforms for climate change sceptics. Ed Davey agreed to come on my show tonight – first in the studio, then by ISDN, then on the phone, first at 620, then at 630, then at 720. Then not at all. A meeting, apparently. It happens. But if any of his staff were listening, they might have been rather worried to discover than with one exception, every caller expressed some degree of scepticism about global warming. I’d say that proves that the argument is far from won and that people like Ed Davey need to up their game. He’d probably say they were all brainwashed by a climate change sceptical media. of course.

Warmists are incredibly intolerant, and are uninterested in science. They’re interested in doctrine. Scientific research is still done on things that were supposedly “settle science”. Yet, when it comes to “climate change”, any inquiries that do not toe the official line are heresy.

Science commits suicide when it adopts a creed. ~Thomas Henry Huxley

Susan Rice To Replace Donilon As National Security Advisor

In the Obama regime, people who are embarrassments and incompetent get better jobs

(Fox News) Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador who drew criticism for her initial account of the Benghazi terror attack, has been promoted to national security adviser, a senior White House official confirmed to Fox News.

Rice will replace Tom Donilon, who is resigning from the post. Rice, the current U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, does not need Senate confirmation for the job.

She never would have gotten through the confirmation process for Sec of State, and would have had to answer inconvenient questions regarding Benghazi. Fortunately, she’s eminently qualified to be the NSA, because, um, well, she, ah, supported Obama and went on 5 shows to give idiotic and misleading (to be charitable) talking points that no one believed.

Liberal Group Linked To Doug Shulman’s Wife Had Many White House Meetings

Funny how some people get easy peasey access to the White House and Obama, eh?

(Daily Caller) Nick Nyhart, the CEO of a liberal organization that criticizes corporate campaign spending and employs the wife of former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman, visited the White House seven times and had two visits with President Obama around the time that the Internal Revenue Service was targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny.

Nyhart, the president and CEO of Public Campaign, appears on the White House visitor logs seven times between September 16, 2009 and September 22, 2010.

Public Campaign wants to reduce the amount of special interest money in American politics, yet takes a boatload of money to lobby to reduce Other People’s money. And shares a floor with other progressive groups that take a boatload of money.

Public Campaign is funded by the pro-Obamacare coalition Health Care for America NOW! and other progressive donors and foundations.

As The Daily Caller first reported, former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman’s wife Susan L. Anderson is the senior program advisor for Public Campaign.

Nyhart’s seven White House visits included two meetings with “POTUS,” or the President of the United States, on December 15, 2009 and on May 10, 2010 in the East Room.

And the IRS targeting started in March, 2010. Just a coincidence, right?

But, but, but, Bush appointed Shulman!!!!!!1!!!! Yeah, the same one who donated to the DNC in 2004 and whose wife works for a far left Progressive organization.

Michelle Obama Has Fit Over Heckler

Granted, there’s a time and place for everything, and heckling someone giving a speech can be rude, but, it is protected by 3 parts of the 1st Amendment (free speech, redress of grievance, and protest peaceably)

(Washington Post) First lady Michelle Obama experienced a rare face-to-face encounter with a protester late Tuesday – approaching the activist and threatening to leave a fundraiser if the person did not stop interrupting her speech.

Obama was addressing a Democratic Party fundraiser in a private Kalorama home in Northwest Washington when Ellen Sturtz, 56, a lesbian activist, interrupted her remarks to demand that President Obama sign an anti-discrimination executive order.

Obama showed her displeasure – pausing to confront Sturtz eye to eye, according to witnesses.

“One of the things that I don’t do well is this,” she said to applause from most of the guests, according to a White House transcript. “Do you understand?”

A pool report from a reporter in the room said Obama “left the lectern and moved over to the protester.” The pool report quoted Obama as saying: “Listen to me or you can take the mic, but I’m leaving. You all decide. You have one choice.”

They forgot to include that part in the official White House transcript.

What you have is two rude people going head to head. One, because they want (NMP) Obama to Do Something regarding anti-discrimination for LGBT people (note: everyone should be treated equally under the law, IMO, and under the Constitution), and the other thinking she should not have to deal with anyone daring to engage in their 1st Amendment Rights.

Sturtz was escorted out of the room. She said in an interview later she was stunned by Obama’s response.

“She came right down in my face,” Sturtz said. “I was taken aback.”

Sturtz said she told Obama she was happy to take the microphone to plead her case, which, Sturtz said, appeared to fluster the first lady.

It was a planned protest by Sturtz’s group, GetEqual. And it is interesting to see how Liberals and the LGBT supporters react to this. Most have seemed to take the side of Michelle Obama, calling Sturtz rude, at the least. Which is interesting to compare regarding how they idolized people who heckled President Bush and Laura Bush, including the ones who became violent. Yet, can anyone find an example of George and/or Laura acting in the same manner as Michelle? Barack hasn’t typically been graceful when confronted with hecklers, either.

Here’s my favorite comment at Buzzfeed from Bruce Dent

As a gay man, to read the classlessness, and the crude remarks made by gay men and women is horrifying! What is wrong with you people? This President and his first lady have been more supportive aggressively for the LGBT community and you all sound like those idiot republican senators from Texas, or the south! SHUT THE F UP…and learn exactly HOW to get government to actually vote for your causes. You obviously don’t have a clue…Embarrassing.

To which I replied

As a non-gay Conservative man, I find it appalling that the 1st Lady would treat someone exercising their 1st Amendment Rights to petition for redress of grievance and protest peaceably with such disregard and classnessless. And that you, Bruce, would tell people engaged in their 1st Amendment Rights to “STFU”. The president and 1st Lady are not King and Queen, they are our employees, public servants, and should treat protesters with respect.

Does anyone think that either Bush, or any Republican, wouldn’t be excoriated by Liberals, the LGBT community, and the media if they acted in that way? Heck, the media used to love Bush hecklers. Consider their headline for their Michelle O article: First Lady Refuses to Let a Heckler Go Unscolded. ObamaWuv.

1st World Problems: Talking To Your Kids About “Climate Change”

Only in the 1st World can this happen

‘The Talk’ — How to Tell Your 8-Year-Old About Climate Change

When Ian Kim imagines the world his 7-year-old daughter will be living in 20 years from now, he says, it keeps him up at night. Images of ever more frequent super storms like Sandy, along with rising seas, or drought and heat waves wreaking havoc with crops haunt his waking hours.

“It’s a huge worry for me,” said Kim, a self-described environmental and social justice activist. “On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s a 10.”

It’s a sentiment likely shared by parents the world over, though it’s especially pronounced among those working close to the issue. Kim described climate change as “a slow motion disaster that is already happening right now.”

Interestingly, what’s missing in the entire article is any notion that these climaparents are actually making changes within their own lives.

Unsurprisingly, the people quoted in the story are far left activists (one worked for a Van Jones group) or have a vested interest in pushing hotcoldwetdry (one has husband who works for a solar panel company).

Fortunately, an entire generation will soon graduate having experienced no statistically significant warming.
